Image Tagging for Image:Title.bigbigworld.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Title.bigbigworld.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Unspecified source for Image:Lois03.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Lois03.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 14:46, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

editSorry about that -- I clicked the wrong link. I've re-reverted the article. —tregoweth (talk) 02:46, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the spelling update. I haven't had time to look that up yet. I'd personally go with Perez also as he is most associated with the title and was responsible for re-introducing the character. The Contest is just my favorite WW story of all time so I remembered that version first. Artemisboy 19:46, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Stop accusing me of vandalism
editI removed original research. You disagree. That's fine; we'll go to the talk page now.
But do not accuse me of vandalism. It's rude and does nothing to create an atmosphere of cooperation.
From WP:Vandalism, for your edification:
"Vandalism is any addition, deletion, or change of content made in a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of Wikipedia. ... Any good-faith effort to improve the encyclopedia, even if misguided or ill-considered, is not vandalism. Apparent bad-faith edits that do not make their bad-faith nature inarguably explicit are not considered vandalism at Wikipedia. For example, adding a personal opinion once is not vandalism — it's just not helpful, and should be removed or restated."
Please also read "What vandalism is not":
Bold Edits - Wikipedians often make sweeping changes to articles in order to improve them — most of us aim to be bold when updating articles. While having large chunks of text you've written deleted, moved to the talk page, or substantially rewritten can sometimes feel like vandalism, it should not be confused with vandalism.
Vandalism is not an accusation to be taken lightly, and I'd appreciate an apology. --Chris Griswold (??) 21:27, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
- My first revert on Superman wasn't in response to your edit. I reverted to a version from before your edit and you assumed my vandalism comment was for you. After my comment, you blanked out a section of text. And yes, blanking is a form of vandalism, whether your link mentions it or not. You don't blank out text just because you have an opinion on it. You bring up the issue on the talk page. —scarecroe 22:13, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
Source for publicity image
editHi, Can you provide the source information for this image? We need some verifiable information to back up the use of the {{publicity}} tag. Let me know if I can be of any help. Best regards, --Abu Badali 01:33, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the quick reply. But could you provide a link to the press kit or promotional site where this image was published? It's really important to have this information when using the {{publicity}} tag. Thanks, --Abu Badali 04:48, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
Image:Lois03.jpg listed for deletion
editAn image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:Lois03.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Fair use on your user page
editHi, Scarecroe. According to item #9 on Wikipedia:Fair use criteria, we can't claim fair use for images on our user pages. You may want to remove Image:Userbox-procreate.png and Image:Ishmael_logo.png from yours. Let me know if you need any help. Best regards, --Abu Badali 22:55, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

editPlease be more cautious when reverting vandalism (and honestly I do not think that what you reverted was vandalism). You also undid my edit removing an invalid link from the External links section (Google Video searches are not valid links as per WP:EL). Cut-and-paste moves
editI noticed you made a cut-and-paste move of Superman IV: The Quest for Peace from F to f. Cut-and-paste moves result in the loss of edit histories and should not be done. You should use the move function at the top of the page, and if that does not work due to the article having a history, please follow the procedure on Wikipedia:Requested moves in order to get the page moved. Thanks. └ OzLawyer / talk ┐ 17:40, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
- I see. The history is still there, it's just harder to get to if you're looking for it. Next time I'll make the proper request. Thanks for your help. —scarecroe 23:26, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
A couple of reminders
editHi,
When using certain template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template.
Also: Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you!
Thanks! :)

- Ah, yes. I sometimes forget the subst. Thank you! —scarecroe 01:16, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Supermanpeanutbutter.png
editThanks for uploading Image:Supermanpeanutbutter.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

License tagging for Image:Adam-Hughes.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Adam-Hughes.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 03:04, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned fair use image (Image:Phil-Jimenez.jpg)
editThanks for uploading Image:Phil-Jimenez.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Oscar's "emu"
editThanks for catching that! A lot of the time 50 vandals and one good contributor come in a day of so of each other, and when trying to save the new, good information, I forget to revert everything. -- Zanimum
- No problem! —scarecroe 18:13, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
- That's an amazingly quick reply. Was it just an orange bar that did it, or do you have Wikipedia set up to notify you when someone edits your talk page? Just curious. -- Zanimum 19:10, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, it was the orange bar. I can't seem to allow my preferences to notify me by mail when my talk page is edited. Wikia has that setting, but it appears to be absent here at Wikipedia. —scarecroe 21:11, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
- I'm just looking, and you're right. I discovered it at meta.wikimedia.org, and thought all projects had it. I guess we disabled it so that our servers don't explode! -- Zanimum 14:22, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
re: Kermit vandalism
editFirst of all, please use four tildes (~) to sign your messages. Secondly, this addition was NOT vandalism but a good faith addition. The video is real and can be found easily. It's inclusion is debateable certainly, but vandalism it is not. Please Assume good faith, don't label contributions vandalism unless it's obviously true. exolon 23:23, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
- I can see your manners are in line with a typical wikipedia admin. Your addition to Kermit the Frog is ridiculous: the video is an obvious parody, it's an illegal representation of a character owned by The Walt Disney Company and simply nonsensical. Please use more discretion when adding information to an article in the future. —scarecroe 23:30, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not an admin, so I've no idea what you're getting at there. As to my manners - I tend to get irritated when I'm labelled a vandal which is hardly surprising. The fact that it's a parody and an illegal use of the character is irrelevant. Parody is protected, and we're not here to enforce Disney's copyright over Kermit. My discretion is just fine, if you don't think it should be in the article, take it to the talk page, village pump or an RFC. exolon 23:36, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
- Judging by the content of your addition, it's easy to see why one would assume vandalism rather than a good faith edit. Again, please use better judgement in the future. —scarecroe 23:39, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
On the subject of Kermit "vandalism", I just wanted to say that I pulled the trigger a bit too quickly on that Southhampton reference. While I agree it should be out, I tagged it as vandalism because it was too hard to make sense of, and I couldn't see it in the provided link. Once I read it in context, it made more sense.--SarekOfVulcan 19:32, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
- I noticed the context provided by the anon, but there was still no citation outside of the newspaper title: no date or author. If someone puts it back, we should probably tag it with a 'citation needed' tag and make a note in the open conversation on the talk page. —scarecroe 21:58, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the cleanup here. -- Zanimum 16:24, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

editPlease stop removing the "disputed fair use" tag from this image. The status is disputed (I dispute it). This image is not used to illustrate a point on the image itself, but on its subject. This does not qualify as "fair use".
Furthermore, it is specifically said in Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria that photographs of living people can useally not be claimed as "fair use", since Free equivalent can be made (you go with your camera and you take a photograph).
Thank you. Rama
I've changed the text you added into a direct quote from the source instead. I've also added direct quotations from all the other major sources too - these range from positive ("online sensation") through to negative ("world's most revolting web phenomenon") so we have a range of views describing the critical reaction to this subject. exolon 02:52, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

editWhat do you mean when you say breaks anchored tags? It certainly cleans up the article, and condenses the ref content. I love the tool. Could you explain what you meant so I know for the future if I should not re-reflist? I'm just not understanding? Hellswasteland 17:14, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- Hi. The reference numbers throughout the article ([1], [2] and so on) don't link to the corresponding reference footnote at the bottom of the page. I like the way it makes things look neater, too. But not at the expense of functionality. —scarecroe 17:38, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

LHC Safety Concerns
editYou undid my July 24th revision of the safety concerns section on the Large Hadron Collider page. Replaceable fair use Image:Adam-Hughes.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Adam-Hughes.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia Talk 14:55, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Deleted article
editPlease do not revert the redirect on a deleted article. The article was deleted in March, and you reverted this deletion and left the old afd template on the article. Please do not undo the redirect again, if you have issues take them to DRV, SqueakBox 00:02, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
RE: 1906
editIn response to the message you left on my talk page: You violated Wikipedia policy 3 times by removing the AfD tag from 1906 (film). That is not good faith editing. If you read the AfD notice, you would have seen:
"Feel free to edit the article, but the article must not be blanked, and this notice must not be removed, until the discussion is closed."
Consider this your final warning. The next time you delete Articles for deletion notices or comments from articles and Articles for deletion pages, as you did with 1906 (film), you will be blocked from editing. - Rjd0060 22:55, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
- Bad faith block warning. This user is bullying my good faith edits. See talk page discussion on topics in question. —scarecroe 22:57, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
- Please explain this to me: You removed AfD notices. You removes a Speedy Deletion template on an article that you created. Both of those things are not allowed. I reverted them. How is reverting them in bad faith? - Rjd0060 23:07, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
RE: 1906
editAgain, replying to your comment from my talk page:
Actually, the first template you removed said "do not remove this notice from pages that you have created yourself." See that Here. So you shouldn't have removed that one either, since you are the one who created the page. Every template that you removed, said that you could not remove it. Feel free to see all of the revisions for that article. Again, I am not "bullying", but I am enforcing Wikipedia policies. You will not get a warning from me, if you don't deserve one. - Rjd0060 23:05, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
Disputed fair use rationale for Image:AtTheMovies.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:AtTheMovies.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 01:51, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
