A question about classification of websites
How does a researcher determine whether a website is a blog if its address does not contain "blogger," "wordpress," or a similar term usually associated with blogs?
I ask that after reading your comment about my DYK submission from my Dick Joy page. You wrote "A blog source has been used, they are not considered reliable." The source was The Digital Deli Too (specifically the page http://www.digitaldeliftp.com/DigitalDeliToo/dd2jb-Dr-Kildare.html) a website that I have used as a source in other old-time radio articles that I have posted. Does The Digital Deli Too have some element that should have told me it is unreliable?
I am not concerned so much about the DYK nomination (although it would be nice to have) as about my future research. Eddie Blick (talk) 16:33, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
- The 12th ref in the article is a blog (Vintage radio blog). The above mentioned page is reliable. Now coming to the classification; blogs, web forums, social networking websites etc. are not considered reliable and neither IMDb though it can be and is used as an external link. If you want to know more you should read WP:RS. It tells us what is considered reliable. I must appreciate your work on old radio articles. The Dick Joy nom is all OK and when you have finished the work ping me there and I will put a tick.--Skr15081997 (talk) 02:57, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
Thank you for the clarification about The Digital Deli Too. I erroneously thought that was the source that you meant. I have removed the Vintage Radio Blog as a source and deleted the content that came from it. Thanks, too, for pointing me to the "Identifying reliable sources" page. I'm glad to learn about that, and I appreciate your help. Eddie Blick (talk) 14:23, 28 June 2014 (UTC)

Ways to improve Satyavati Devi (born 1905)
Hi, I'm 78.26. Skr15081997, thanks for creating Satyavati Devi (born 1905)!
I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Written from a decidedly pro-Indian viewpoint. Most sources covering topic will have this view, so it is understandable, but more neutral language would benefit the article
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 17:10, 22 July 2014 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Brønsted–Lowry acid–base theory
Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Brønsted–Lowry acid–base theory you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by Legobot, on behalf of Tezero -- Tezero (talk) 07:00, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
Great job! I'll try to look at it later when I have time. Yoninah (talk) 14:24, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, just to say I started working on it. There is a bit of overlap in the text and the sequence of events isn't clear. I'm looking at the sources and editing and adding. Stay tuned. Yoninah (talk) 23:20, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, a lot of hours later, I finished the work. I think it looks great, and I'd appreciate a DYK co-credit on the 5x expansion. Comparing this to the other articles that you nominated, only Dirk Keetbaas (which I also worked on) looks at all promotable. Steven Staryk (who has a lot written about him in books and media) looks terrible – many paragraphs are not even sourced. Ruth Budd and William Kuinka are borderline start articles. I'm wondering if you want to work on improving and sourcing the latter three articles, or just go ahead and nominate the Symphony Six page on its own. (I could offer one of my many QPQs). Please let me know. Yoninah (talk) 21:35, 23 July 2014 (UTC)
- @Yoninah:Many thanks for working on the article and yes of course! the article looks great and you can have the co-credit. It would be a sort of honor for me to share the credit with you. My only concern is the DYK checker's eligibility scan results; it say that the 5x expansion began in 2006. The Staryk article wasn't nominated along with the rest. If you feel that 5x expansion is possible then please tell me. The Budd and Kuinka articles were nominated along with the Keetbaas article and I personally feel that they should not be left in this state. I will work on them. Thanks for offering the QPQ but I have already reviewed another nom and listed it on the Symphony nom page.Thanks!--Skr15081997 (talk) 09:40, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what you're referring to in 2006. Even if there was an expansion in 2006, we did a 5x expansion beginning with your edit on July 15, 2014, which is during the course of the DYK nomination. Since the article was never nominated for a DYK creation or expansion, we can certainly nominate it now. Yoninah (talk) 10:36, 24 July 2014 (UTC)

Thanks re DYK Flora of the Sierra Nevada alpine zone
Thanks.[1] Some things I did not DYK yet know, but learned from writing the article, were that "Botanists have ranked its July and August floral bloom as one of California's foremost wildflower displays, with flowers of fantastic color and abundance." (I knew that I ranked it as one of the best, but not that others did.) And I did not DYK know that Pygmy Saxifrage (Saxifraga rivularis) can be found growing in damp, protected areas under rock overhangs, at elevations of over 14,000 feet (4,300 m). That's pretty high up there! :) FloraWilde (talk) 00:21, 14 August 2014 (UTC)

This message is to make myself clear that i'm not here to "WAR" against anybody...As a good user, my intention is to make pages better and as long as I know my edits were better, why should I fear to stand for it? The users who disagreed with me were simply undoing the edits without even reading them. I'd request u people to please go check the page and see if I am right. And one more thing, I am not a representative of Box Office India or anything. I only chose what I saw as most reliable and because all pages in the past have cited the same source. If you suddenly change the policy, then completely change all the other pages. Is that possible? Huh? So as long as you don't do that, I'm sure I'm right. Why don't u go and condemn the other user instead.... FireboltLeviosa (talk) 10:42, 26 August 2014 (UTC)

User:Rustavo/Seth Moulton
Hi, I'm writing because I see that you negatively reviewed Draft:Seth Moulton a few months back. A few days ago, I created a userspace draft page on the same topic, User:Rustavo/Seth Moulton. I wasn't aware of the existence of Draft:Seth Moulton until just now, although I did see that a prior Seth Moulton page had been deleted.
I've been getting feedback on my draft from Kudpung, who was involved in a prior speedy delete - please see our discussion and his review on his talk page. I was wondering if you would be also be willing to review my draft and comment on its suitability for moving to the mainspace. I believe that it satisfies WP:notability requirements - in particular including references to a significant number of in-depth articles, specifically about the subject, in independent sources, including national press (TIME Magazine) and prominent regional media (e.g. extensive coverage in the Boston Globe). My inclination is to move it to the mainspace in the next day or two, but please let me know what you think. Also, please let me know if you think I should incorporate content from the prior (declined) draft. Thanks! RustavoTalk/Contribs 03:40, 4 September 2014 (UTC)

Akshay Kumar filmography comments
Hi. I've done a quick copyedit through the article, will probably need to a more thorough at a later date.
- I added Khiladi as being his breakthrough role which to me knowledge it was but it would be great if you could find a source for it.
- We have added sources.
- What metric does box office india use to name actors as being the top actor of the year? Is it just total box office gross for that year?
- Probably it's the box office records, but the article says that he was one of the most successful actors of that year.
- Was Ajnabee his first negative role?
- A reliable source supporting this fact has been added.
- I wasn't sure what the source meant my highest grossing English film in Canada. Surely Titanic or something like that would have made much more.
- You have made the necessary corrections.
- In the article, it's said that Once upon a time was highly anticipated, is there a source to back this up?
- Source added.
- On a general note, it would great if you could find a book on the actor as it would make your job much easier when writing a lead in the future as they'll highlight the key parts of the actor's career. Obviously being careful not to plagiarise. This one came up when I searched:[[2]]. Don't know if it's available in your location. Cowlibob (talk) 11:01, 2 August 2014 (UTC)
@Cowlibob:Many thanks for your useful comments. I consider FL to be the best (say 100% for comparison). You have a lot of experience in this field. I wanted to know whether the lead is in a better state in comparison to what it was when you saw it the first time. Considering FL to be 100%, at what percent is the present lead and do you feel that the lead has been improved or not. At what percent would you rate the lead when you saw it the first time. I intend to work on filmography of many more Indian actors. Your comments would of course, encourage me. After your first comment on the FLC I modeled the present lead on the lines of Christian Bale filmography. The Gbooks doesn't even show the preview of this book. Thanks for trying. Much appreciated. Thanks again.--Skr15081997 (talk) 11:19, 2 August 2014 (UTC)
- The lead does look significantly better than when I first saw it. It probably only needs to be tweaked to work, provided some of the stuff I highlighted above is clarified. I only got my first featured list last June so I'm pretty new to this as well. Don't worry the first one is usually the hardest to get right. I'm happy you're looking to work on more filmographies we need more people like you and Krimuk90 to strengthen the Indian film articles.
- In regards to the questions I asked above have you found some answers?
- Cowlibob (talk) 12:02, 2 August 2014 (UTC)
- @Cowlibob:All questions have been answered. What should be done now.--Skr15081997 (talk) 05:25, 3 August 2014 (UTC)
- Ok, I went through the article again. Some of the sources may need to be replaced as they may not meet WP:RS: Desimartini, Liveindia, Tellychakkar, Planet Punjab, Ballewood, Glamsham, Gopagoda and Metro Masti. There may be more but that's the ones I identified at a glance. Cowlibob (talk) 16:31, 3 August 2014 (UTC)

- I asked Krimuk to look at the list. He had agreed that it had improved however there were still three main issues. He saw grammatical errors, peacock words and unsourced claims. Looking at the fact that there's probably less than 2 weeks before the nom is archived perhaps the best course of action would be for you to withdraw your nom and post it for copyediting at the Copyeditors Guild: Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Requests or to put it up for peer review. Krimuk has indicated that he could also help when it's outside of FLC and I've asked him to provide a list of the unsourced claims as they'll be the easiest for you to sort out. After you've withdrawn maybe leave this article for a bit and concentrate on the other articles you're working on so that you don't get too tied down. This is probably not what you wanted to hear but don't lose heart, it's really hard to get it right first time around especially for filmographies. Cowlibob (talk) 16:34, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
- @Cowlibob:Where are the instructions for withdrawing the nom?--Skr15081997 (talk) 09:58, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
- Ask one of the FLC delegates e.g. SchroCat to do it as it's complicated. Just message saying that you want to withdraw the list. Cowlibob (talk) 10:20, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry to see that your peer review for this didn't get interest. I had talked to another editor who had done a few featured lists on filmographies as I'm preppin my own one on Tom Hanks. Their advice was to not talk about the response to the actor's performance in the film which is more suited for the film article itself or box office of the films in the lead but you can include awards as that's just reporting an event. This may help with fixing the issue about peacock words and also shorten the lead. I think you should keep the box office info for the three films that got over 100 crore as it is notable though and the bit about his own total box office collection reaching over 2000 crore. Hope that helps. Cowlibob (talk) 14:10, 13 September 2014 (UTC)

Checking for paraphrasing
Hi Shailendra, thanks for joining in the Stub Contest - just a helpful thing - this paraphrasing checker is good for checking prose to help with distancing for sourcing. I can see you've done some for Province of Badajoz, which is good, but I think I'd be inclined to see the wording a little more different before was confident in saying that we'd moved right away from too-close paraphrasing.
