I was going to send a beer, but alcohol is not always enlivening (especially after the 6th glass). As for updates: One, your presence is sorely lacking. Two, there's lots of neat stuff going on that needs your genius. Three, wishing you easy returns. Here's some tea. It's oolong, in case you were wondering. Ocaasi t | c 13:05, 1 July 2011 (UTC) |

- Hi.
- I had everything open in tabs and was ready to begin translation and compiling info from dewiki and other sources, but was called away unexpectedly. Admittedly I should have thought to put an {{inuse}} on it or something or move it into userspace, but the situation at hand was a bit more pressing than doing so. Will make it less unilaterally deletable now. sonia♫ 06:55, 3 July 2011 (UTC)
- It's as well to remember that new page patrolling is generally of an unacceptable standard, and many patrollers are very quick to tag. Most of them don't do any research at all of the ES, page logs, or user logs, and more unfortunately, there are admins who also delete on the face value of CSD tags. It is always strongly advised to prepare new articles in user space; not everyone does, but I do. If you are interested, don't hesitate to ask me for links to the statistical research we are doing here and at MediaWiki on NPP and new page creations . --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 06:05, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
- Even as Sonia left it, which wasn't ideal, the only speedy deletion criteria that would have even been plausible would have been A3. A3, however, explicitly excludes any page with a non-trivial infobox, which this page had. Courcelles 06:19, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

Question about my "Subpages" section
Thanks for putting all the scripts together, but when that was done something happened to the layout of my Subpages within the collapsible section on my userpage User:Shearonink. I'd like to kind of put things back the way they were but don't know how to toggle the appearance of
- <div>Subpages for this user:{{Special:Prefixindex/User:Shearonink/}}{{Special:Prefixindex/User talk:Shearonink/}}</div>
or even if it changing the appearance back is possible. The issue is that I always used to know where to find links within that 'Subpages" section (kind of my own internal toolbox) but since they've moved around I don't know where to look right away. Not sure if this makes sense, but ping me the next time you see me in IRC and maybe you can talk me through how to possibly change it. Thanks, Shearonink (talk) 15:38, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
- I... did not even know you could transclude that special page. At a guess, what's happened is that /scripts has popped in in alphabetical order, pushing the pages that start with T or later down a bit; nothing else. Not sure that can be fixed. sonia♫ 21:10, 31 July 2011 (UTC)

The Envision Manifesto
Thank you for the EDUCATED reply. Sorry for my ignorance, I did not mean to target Wikipedia at all. I really shouldn't have targeted anyone in the first place. My apologies for my rude behavior. I do however need to find sources to cite my information, which may be quite difficult. Well, I do not mind. I am trying to make a difference, and time will not stop me. --UncleVisionary (talk) 05:53, 15 September 2011 (UTC) Now that I think about it...could you possibly look at my page? I have no clue how I would be able to pair anything up with that unless I took a standpoint along Anonymous or some sort, which I do not plan on doing (I plan on taking this on its own route). Any ideas? --UncleVisionary (talk) 05:55, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- No problem. It's not so much that you've been rude, as such, as that you've just happened to trip over one of the many guidelines we have to keep this place sane, and no one's really sat down with you and explained how to avoid that. What I'd recommend, really, is getting your own website where you can publish your material however you like in your own space, add images, maybe testimonials once it starts having an impact. Plenty of free site-hosting places out there; it's something I've done myself in the past. It's the best way to ensure you have complete control, that you're not governed by someone else's rules for what can go on their website. When it's gotten some press coverage or similar, then feel free to let me know and I'll see what I can do toward assessing whether or not it passes our notability guidelines, and if so, work with you on the article. I hope this is what you meant! Any further questions or comments of any sort, leave them here underneath this reply-- I know it's a bit strange, but we leave messages at the bottom of pages 'round these parts, not the top. Cheers. sonia♫ 06:08, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
Thank you so much for your help. I do plan on setting up a website for this, and I can use that as a source? Great. Found out what i'm doing this weekend. Thanks so much for the assistance, for I am a "newbie" with this stuff, and am trying to dive headfirst into it. Thanks Sonia. --UncleVisionary (talk) 06:21, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- Hmm. What I meant is, you can spread word from your website, instead of from Wikipedia. Wikipedia's for reporting what has already been published about a subject, what press coverage or books or studies have been done on it. But, solely as advice, I meant that starting your own website is going to be a much better way to get things up and running than swimming upstream here at Wikipedia, until enough people have taken notice that it warrants a Wikipedia article. At that point, I'm more than happy to help with the "newbieness", get things looking and reading exactly how they should. But right now I don't think there's any way this article is going to be kept in its current condition. The order in general is "get noticed" then "get Wikipedia article", not vice versa. sonia♫ 07:05, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
Gotcha! Thanks for the help. I will probably stick around and help with articles that need editing now, haha. My page has been deleted, and website will be setup soon! Your input has helped me tons. --UncleVisionary (talk) 01:42, 16 September 2011 (UTC)

Update on courses and ambassador needs
Hello, Ambassadors!
I wanted to give you one last update on where we are this term, before my role as Online Facilitator wraps up at the end of this week. Already, there are over 800 students in U.S. classes who have signed up on course pages this term. About 40 classes are active, and we're expecting that many more again once all the classes are up and running.
On a personal note, it's been a huge honor to work with so many great Wikipedians over the last 15 months. Thanks so much to everyone who jumped in and decided to give the ambassador concept a try, and double thanks those of you who were involved early on. Your ideas and insights and enthusiasm have been the foundation of the program, and they will be the keys the future of the program.

Hi Sonia! Haven't seen you around my part of the wiki much lately, how's it going? I thought you might be interested in this survey by User:SarahStierch. Help needed for a student class project
Please see Wikipedia:WikiProject Classroom coordination/SFSU Class Project and consider adding your name.
The scope of the Wikipedia:WikiProject Classroom coordination/SFSU Class Project is mainly concerned with new articles.
According to the teacher's instructions, this group of students may not create a lot of new articles, but may instead focus more on improving existing articles.
So, there may be little for us to do in the way the Wikipedia:WikiProject China/NNU Class Project required. The students may, however, still call on us for guidance in other areas. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:14, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

Article Feedback Tool - Newsletter 1
Hey, guys and girls! You're receiving this because you signed up (or manually requested) the Article Feedback Tool Version 5 Newsletter. This is for people who care about making the AFT a better feature, but don't necessarily want to have to participate in every discussion. Instead, I'll be sending a newsletter around twice a month talking about what's been decided and what's still up for discussion - that way, if you're interested in specific features or ideas, you'll know when to jump in :). If you know anyone who fits into this category (or you're a talkpage watcher who does) please sign up here to receive more updates in the future.
First off, editors have already been picking at the basic design, and I've forwarded their suggestions to the devs. Those ideas which are worthy of further investigation (or being programmed into the software) are listed in the status box at the top of the talkpage. Community suggestions that the devs like include:
- Allowing for up and down-voting of comments to indicate priority (suggested by User:Bensin)
- Having comments link to the version of the article (as well as the article) that they refer to (suggested by User:RJHall)
- Including the AFT box as a hidden drop-down from a "feedback" button on section headings (suggested by User:Utar)
So already there's been some great ideas - I was in a meeting yesterday in which they confirmed that the developers are actively looking at how to include Utar's suggestion pretty quickly. There are still a lot of open issues, however; most pressing this week is what level of access IPs should have to submitted comments? Office Hours
- Hey, sonia! Acknowledging that office hours sessions are normally pretty...what's the polite word...shit for those in the south-and-right-a-bit-hemisphere (what with being held at around 4am) I'm holding a session on Saturday at 3am UTC in #wikimedia-office on the Article Feedback Tool. Hopefully that fits nicely into the middle of the kiwi day, and you can attend :). Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 05:41, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
kent holtorf for deletion again
Sonia, could use your help! Another editor (duffbeerforme) has nominated the kent holtorf page for deletion. Your input would be much appreciated since you helped me get it back live!!! Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kent Holtorf 76.164.84.41 (talk) 16:08, 26 November 2011 (UTC)

Article Feedback Tool newsletter
Hey, all! A quick update on how version 5 of the Article Feedback Tool is developing. I'm sending this to both newsletter recipients and regular participants, because I appreciate we've been a bit quiet :).
So, we're just wrapping up the first round of user contributions. A big thank you to everyone who has contributed ideas (a full list of which can be found at the top of the page); thanks almost entirely to contributions by editors, the tool looks totally different to how it did two months ago when we were starting out. Big ideas that have made it in include a comment voting system, courtesy of User:Bensin, an idea for a more available way of deploying the feedback box, suggested by User:Utar, and the eventual integration of both oversight and the existing spam filtering tools into the new version, courtesy of..well, everyone, really :).
For now, the devs are building the first prototypes, and all the features specifications have been finalised. That doesn't mean you can't help out, however; we'll have a big pile of shiny prototypes to play around with quite soon. If you're interested in testing those, we'll be unveiling it all at this week's office hours session, which will be held on Friday 2 December at 19:00 UTC. If you can't make it, just sign up here. After that, we have a glorious round of testing to undertake; we'll be finding out what form works the best, what wording works the best, and pretty much everything else under the sun. As part of that, we need editors - people who know just what to look for - to review some sample reader comments, and make calls on which ones are useful, which ones are spam, so on and so forth. If that's something you'd be interested in doing, drop an email to okeyes@wikimedia.org.
Thanks to everyone for their contributions so far. We're making good headway, and moving forward pretty quickly :). Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 16:39, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
- Okay, trout me if I forget this one. :P sonia♫ 02:56, 30 November 2011 (UTC)

Thanks!
For joining the response team. There should be a new version of the tool coming out tomorrow if all goes well, so there will be new functionality to play with. ;) If you can think of anyone else who would be interested in this kind of thing, please invite them (or I would be happy to). Hi Sonia,
Thanks for signing up for the Feedback Dashboard response team! I wanted to let you know that the tool just got an important update (see here for details). I also wanted to invite you to the IRC office hours session that Steven and I are going to hold this Sunday, December 4. Hope you can make it and share your experience/questions with us! Office Hours
Hey Sonia/Archive 6; another Article Feedback Tool office hours session! This is going to be immediately after we start trialing the software publicly, so it's a pretty important one. If any of you want to attend, it will be held in #wikimedia-office on Friday 16th December at 19:00 UTC. As always, if you can't attend, drop me a line and I'm happy to link you to the logs when we're done. Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 22:31, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
- That's... Saturday 8am for me? I think so. Thanks for actually noting the location this time, heh. Had no clue what chan it was last time. sonia♫ 23:41, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
- Oh dear! And yeah, that sounds about right time-wise. I'll understand if you can't come along :). Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 03:13, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification
Hi. In Su Yin Huen, you recently added a link to the disambiguation page Blogger (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Can I simply help this editor by doing the proposed integration with content that exists in Wikipedia? That seems to be what he wants, and I know how to blend it in better than this newbie would.--Smokefoot (talk) 08:43, 15 December 2011 (UTC)

A kitten for you!
A kitten for you! I've heard rumours that if you attend RCC, you'll be bringing a carryon filled with Krispy Kreme donuts for User:Bidgee and a chocolate glazed donuts from Dunkin Donuts for me with us paying you back. This makes you the most awesome Wikipedian ever. Also. Ever. Everyone loves the person bringing donuts the most. :D :D :D :D :D :D
LauraHale (talk) 12:03, 17 December 2011 (UTC)
- o_O. Do you not have those donuts in Aus? :P Why do I need them in my carryon? (But I'm more than willing to chip in toward donuts for us all; see you there :D) sonia♫ 05:41, 21 December 2011 (UTC)

Ambassador Needed
Hi Sonia,
Thanks for contacting me. I am still looking for one more ambassador for my winter term course Writing & Rhetoric II beginning next week. I'm specifically interested in someone who would be willing to respond to short proposals written by students for planned edits/article creations. I'm giving student the choice to create new article or make edits/additions to existing articles. These proposals would be short plans for article creations / or edits and additions to existing articles. They would be sent to you on or a day or two before Jan. 16. There's a cap of twenty students in the class, so you would only be responsible for responding to ten student proposals. What do you think? Matthewvetter (talk) 16:02, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
- Sounds great! I'd love to be an ambassador for your class. I don't start work until February, so I'll have plenty of time to dedicate to helping out. sonia♫ 23:13, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
Sonia, Thanks so much. I've added your name to the online ambassadors. Expect an e-mail from me when things get rolling. You can check out the project schedule at the course page.
