Metric system

edit

Your edit to the Metric system article was only partially successful. The article did change, but the text that resulted was not a sensible article about the metric system. I have changed the article back to the way it was before your change. Feel free to ask on my User talk:Gerry Ashton if you want help in editing this article. --Gerry Ashton 18:02, 25 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Ladydeath medieval.jpg

edit

Image:Ladydeath medieval.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

.......er, thanks for the clarification (sort of!) Hmmmm... the major part of all these recent massacres and stuff is that the people who carried them out end up dead. This would give people who daydream about carrying out similar acts a problem; if they don't believe in life after death, then they will never know how notorious they became and if they do - well, they are burning in Hell/Hades/Halifax and are not really enjoying (non)life much. Since we are all going to die anyway it makes more sense to strive to be remembered as someone who made a really good Baked Alaskan (it's a cake!) than a misfit who killed a bunch of kids! Mind you, being remembered as a misfit who made a really good Baked Alaskan might be a bit cool. Cheers. LessHeard vanU (talk) 14:44, 22 December 2007 (UTC) ps. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Psychopathic The Videos DVD Cover.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Psychopathic The Videos DVD Cover.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 05:33, 18 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of The R.O.C

edit

A tag has been placed on The R.O.C requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. ukexpat (talk) 13:27, 8 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

edit

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:GreenHatchetMan.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 20:56, 10 July 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Laser brain (talk) 20:56, 10 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for File:Teenage Humid Mediocrity.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Teenage Humid Mediocrity.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MBisanz talk 07:26, 19 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Regarding crediting yourself in the mainspace of Wikipedia, know that links to userspace are not allowed. For instance, when edits are made, that edit isn't signed by the users- the history makes it implicit. Giving yourself credit for something is pretty much as far afield from a verifiable source as you can get- it's the ultimate in self-published sources. That's why forum postings are not used as a reliable source. Further, it's fan cruft. Do not re-add the self-credit as a userspace link or in any other manner unless it is accompanied with a very reliable source. tedder (talk) 06:34, 20 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Ok, I was unaware of the rules you stated. I originally just posted a link to the video with a note it had been leaked. Their was another user that had tried to glorify me so I simply made it a bit more detailed is all. I am going to re-add the link to the video, but as Manson himself never commented directly on it, I am not sure who to use as an official source. I do know it is official, but all the channels that would confirm it refuse to acknowledge its existence due to their own hypocritical allegiance to Manson. (Most of the "officialisers" had seen the video, but when I leaked it, they condemned anyone who breathed a word about it, causing me to be banned on several sites.) There is a bit on the Mansonwiki (I know, it's another wiki) where they mention "members have reported seeing the video on June 19th."--Mutlee (talk) 13:12, 21 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Cleaning up the Marilyn Manson (band) article

edit

Sorry about the lateness of my reply. I've been so busy on getting Holy Wood up to snuff for GA and, eventually, FA status that I completely forgot to check back for a response.

To be honest I don't know where to start to fix it. The introductory paragraph, perhaps? It's annoying how so many new young Manson fans come here and add their little tidbit of info without regard to citation, spelling or grammar. To think it used to be a featured article that saw placement on the front page.

Ps. How about creating a Wikiproject Industrial taskforce for Marilyn Manson? Their articles are all in poor shape. -Red marquis (talk) 12:25, 5 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Combichrist reassessment

edit

Hey there. I just saw your really old note at WP:INDU about reassessing that article. I've upgraded it to class C, but I see a couple issues that could use fixing to improve it even more. First of all, you can add more details to the references. The two biggest would be to use the work= parameter, and then fill in the name of the magazine or website or whatever. Then use date= for the date the source was written, if you can find it. The second thing is that some of the sources you have a not considered reliable. The two most obvious are Facebook and Discogs. Facebook is pretty much never used except as an external link to an official FB page for the band. Discogs can be edited by anyone just like Wikipedia. Most of the others, like ReGen and SideLine, for example, are good. Hope that helps! Torchiest talkedits 16:37, 29 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
