Version 2.1
Undoing edits

Anyone can revert a page to fix vandalism. All revisions of a page back to the first one are stored in the page history. To revert to an earlier version, just select and copy the text from the history, open the article for editing, paste it back in, and save it. When not dealing with obvious vandalism, reverting often is a bad strategy. It alienates other users and provokes edit wars. Stay cool, talk to the user in question directly, or try to resolve issues on the article's Talk page.

Please do not revert the same page more than three times within 24-hours (the three-revert rule). Doing so can lead to a temporary ban against you. Administrators and Rollbackers have a handy rollback feature that allows them to instant-revert vandalism by going to a user's contributions page. To revert only the most recent edit there is an undo link on the article history page or on the article diff page.

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Carpenters LOGO.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Carpenters LOGO.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 18:04, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi - a stub template or category which you created has been nominated for deletion or renaming at Wikipedia:Stub types for deletion. The stub type, which was not proposed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals, does not meet the standard requirements for a stub type, either through being incorrectly named, ambiguously scoped, or through failure to meet standards relating to the current stub hierarchy or likely size, as explained at Wikipedia:Stub. Fair use image use, yet again

Over and over and over again I've had to remove the copyrighted, fair use image Image:Carpenters LOGO.png. I know that via another account you were informed of the policy regarding this issue. Yet, you continue to violate it. Today, I come across yet another usage in violation that you created just today [1]. Our policy on fair use images used in this manner is clear; you may NOT use them on templates. See WP:NFCC item #9. If you insist on continuing to willfully violate this policy, I will recommend you be blocked. Please, stop. If you have questions about this I'd be happy to answer. But, continuing to willfully violate the policy is unacceptable. --Durin 12:29, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Haber (Spanish verb)

I've nominated Haber (Spanish verb), an article you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but in this particular case I do not feel that Haber (Spanish verb) satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion; I have explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Haber (Spanish verb) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Haber (Spanish verb) during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Fair use rationale for Image:Solitaire.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Solitaire.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Bleh999 05:57, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:KC Solo.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:KC Solo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Canta.JPG)

Thanks for uploading Image:Canta.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 18:54, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

File:A Song for You.png listed for deletion

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:A Song for You.png, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.

Late Welcome

Hi, The Obento Musubi, welcome to WikiProject LGBT Studies!

We are a growing community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to identifying, categorizing, and improving articles regarding lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) and intersex people. LGBT Studies covers people, culture, history, and related subjects concerning sexual identity and gender identity - this covers a lot of ground and your help is appreciated! Some points that may be helpful:

  • Our main aim is to help improve articles, so if someone seeks help, please try to assist if you are able. Likewise feel free to ask for help, advice or clarification.
  • Many important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
  • If you have another language besides English, please consider adding yourself to our translation section, to help us improve our foreign LGBT topics.
  • The project has several ongoing and developing activities, such as article quality assessment, peer review and a project-wide article collaboration, all of which you are welcome to take part in. We also have a unique program to improve our lower quality articles, Jumpaclass, so please consider signing up there.
  • If you're going to stay awhile, please create a square in our project quilt! You can put anything you want in it.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the talk page, and we will be happy to help you.

And once again - Welcome!

Non-free images

Hi. Please immediately stop uploading nonfree promotional images to Wikipedia. As you have clearly agreed to, the policy states that no needlessly nonfree images are allowed, and there's nothing more needless than a mass produced commercial product. Additionally, you wrote the captions to be explicitly promotional only to the latest models. Wikipedia is not Apple's PR project or outsourced web hosting WP:WEBHOST. You are clearly agreeing to policies that you are violating, and typing in excuses for why you're violating them. Even if Wikipedia's image upload page wasn't a giant explicit barrier to stop exactly what you're doing, you shall not then place the burden upon the public to research and correct your mistakes as you proceed to make countless of them. In one of your edits, you said basically that this is definitely fair use, unless it's not. It's completely your responsibility to research law and policy before making a public site responsible for your mistakes. So now it's your responsibility to undo all of your edits, and delete all of those images. I already wasted a lot of time doing so. Thanks. — Smuckola(talk) 06:47, 19 March 2015 (UTC)

Hi Smuckola (talk · contribs), I seem to remember you commented that there was good faith, which there was. I understand your frustration, and if you check my contributions, I stopped uploading content once I saw you reverted my edits on iMac. I'm hoping you reconsider your tone, lest you become one of the many Wikipedians whose attitude has been nothing but sour to me. I will gladly work with you, but some decorum is in order. The Obento Musubi (talk · contribs) 08:10, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
As far as "countless" goes, I uploaded seven images. I'm fine with all seven of them being deleted. That being said, I object to you calling the press images being "Apple's PR project". I'm simply trying to upload images that look better than a photograph or a lookalike vector. Please feel free to disagree and I'll agree to disagree. Delete the seven images if you so wish. I will not contest them. Cheers, The Obento Musubi (talk · contribs) 08:20, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
No, you know that you were unequivocally wrong, and it is your task to correct. There is no disagreeing with me or anyone else personally, about unequivocal policy. That's just dissembling. The images must be deleted and the edits undone, so please do that now. — Smuckola(talk) 09:15, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
Thank you for presumptuously telling me what I know and don't know. Unless your demeanor changes, I refuse to engage with you further. Peace. The Obento Musubi (talk · contribs) 09:37, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
Good. Please don't. Just comply with policy by reviewing your edit history and ensuring the reverting of all such edits. — Smuckola(talk) 19:26, 19 March 2015 (UTC)

Changing of proper date system to nonsense date system

Please refrain from changing the proper method of indicating years to a nonsense one please. Thank you. Tharthandorf Aquanashi (talk) 12:51, 22 March 2015 (UTC)

The fact that you think "anno Domini" and "before Christ" are proper and "common era" and "before common era" are nonsensical tells me enough about you to know that you shall opt to uphold religious dogma over secularism and therefore we won't see eye-to-eye on this. I personally don't care enough to start anything over it, so I'm going to choose not to be affected by your dismissive language. The Obento Musubi (talk · contribs) 21:13, 22 March 2015 (UTC)
The days of the week are named after pagan Germanic deities. Now, I don't believe in Tue, Woden, Thor or the like but I still call the days of the week names that mean the days of those pagan deities.
You need to calm down and stop whining about things carrying names that are implicative of a religion just because you aren't religious/you don't follow that religion. The world doesn't revolve around you. You don't get to change things just because you don't like them. Tharthandorf Aquanashi (talk) 22:14, 22 March 2015 (UTC)
I never said that AD, BC, or the days of the week were "nonsense". Implying religion, as in the days of the week, is not the same as explicitly promoting one religion over any other religion or non-religion. (i.e. Anno Domini and Before Christ.) CE and BCE have been widely accepted and implemented. The same can't be said of any alternative names for the days of the week. Now, I'd appreciate it if you would stop projecting judgment onto me by telling me what I am or am not. I don't see any reason to continue this back-and-forth any further since I haven't chosen to challenge the reversion of my edit, nor do I plan to. I have more important things to work on. The Obento Musubi (talk · contribs) 23:43, 22 March 2015 (UTC)
I don't think you're really being fair here. The "common era"/"before common era" system isn't nonsense, and it isn't a calendar system The Obento Musubi made up off the top of his head; it's widely used in scholarly circles, and Wikipedia's own style guide says that both Common Era and "BC/AD" conventions can be appropriate for referring to dates. (See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Dates_and_numbers#Era_style) That same style guide also says that you should have a specific reason to change from one system to another—and that you should get consensus on a talk page before actually making the change—but that's beside the point, and it doesn't justify treating another user with disrespect. 96.241.85.240 (talk) 05:18, 24 March 2015 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Come Together-Something (single cover).jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Come Together-Something (single cover).jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 11:32, 9 April 2015 (UTC)

I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Nomination of Augie T. for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Augie T. is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Augie T. until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Boleyn (talk) 16:29, 14 March 2020 (UTC)

Hanamure-mura moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Hanamure-mura, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Proposed deletion of Carpenters Perform Carpenter

Notice

The article Carpenters Perform Carpenter has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Tagged as unsourced since 2007

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. --Another Believer (Talk) 03:47, 9 September 2020 (UTC)

Replaceable non-free use File:Come Together-Something (single cover).jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Come Together-Something (single cover).jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 5 December 2023 (UTC)
