Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MfD nomination of User:Vanamonde93/sandbox/2002 Gujarat riots
User:Vanamonde93/sandbox/2002 Gujarat riots, a page which created or substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; you may participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Vanamonde93/sandbox/2002 Gujarat riots and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of User:Vanamonde93/sandbox/2002 Gujarat riots during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Ricky81682 (talk) 04:27, 29 November 2015 (UTC)
- Ricky81682, I created this 11 months ago with the intention of working out some structural issues with the article, which are easier done when a mistake is not immediately visible to the general public. I never got around to it for lack of time. Delete it by all means; if I find the time to work on this thing again, I can easily recreate it. I don't see who it is bothering, though; if there really is a good reason not to have a userspace version that I'm unaware of, let me know, and I'll tag it for CSD U1 myself, and we can skip the whole MfD process. Vanamonde93 (talk) 04:50, 29 November 2015 (UTC)
- I agree with your point but policy-wise, long-term testing is not permitted under WP:UP#COPIES (short-term is fine and the page would just redirect to the article). One reason is that it's not obvious when it's benign attempts to work on a draft or people's passive-aggressive actions to keep a version of what they want after losing an edit war or whatever and this page has already required two bots to remove notices and categories and if there's redlinks, changes in templates, those need to be done, etc., etc. I think you get my point. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 04:55, 29 November 2015 (UTC)
- Ricky81682 Okay, that's fair. Since I have no intentions of working on it over the next couple months at the very least, why don't you withdraw the MfD, and I'll tag it for U1, and that way we save everybody a little time? As a matter of fact, thanks to your nomination I realized that I have a good many userspace drafts that I didn't move to mainspace when I created them (because I didn't know better); I'm going to go through these and dispose of them now. I presume that a redirect to the mainspace article is not a real problem? Vanamonde93 (talk) 04:59, 29 November 2015 (UTC)
- I can do it all as I'm an admin. If there's articles you didn't move (I checked the history at mainspace and saw you didn't create it), a redirect is fine but if it's more complicated (say you used a page for some editing and some for the draft or for multiple drafts or whatever), there's Wikipedia:Requests for history merge or you can hit my talk page. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 05:08, 29 November 2015 (UTC)

All done! Sorry for the bother but Category:Stale userspace drafts is over 46k again and there's plenty of pages out there. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 05:11, 29 November 2015 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks! There isn't usually much useful history in my drafts, because I've always worked alone, so I think I'll just redirect the ones which I copy-pasted into mainspace, and tag the ones I did not. If there ever is a need for a histmerge I will let you know. I hadn't realized the category was so large; I'll be a bit more watchful in the future. Spandhana
Thanks for your prompt review & note! I should have included a newbie alert ;-) with my post. I realize that my post was brief and didn't yet include enough details to conform with the guidelines. I was still figuring out some of the syntax involved in creating the sections, and decided that I would first prepare a separate writeup and then come back to update post. But of course, it's all gone now! What's the best way for me to update the post with information to justify the notability? Should I just go back and edit the same page or is there another place I need to submit the information? Thanks! Arg0sdotin (talk) 16:12, 1 December 2015 (UTC)
- Arg0sdotin, welcome to Wikipedia. I would not advise creating the page again, even though you are technically able to do so, because the same notability concerns will likely be raised once more. The first thing you should do is to ask yourself whether that topic truly meets our notability guideline. If it doesn't, well, there's still millions of other things to write about. After you've read that page, if you still think Spandhana is notable, you have a couple options. You can create the page in your sandbox, where you can work on it without fear of it being deleted, and move it into article space when it's done. Alternatively, you could use the article's for creation process, which I would recommend, because you can get useful advice there as well. I hope that helps; let me know if you have further questions. Regards, Vanamonde93 (talk) 17:02, 1 December 2015 (UTC)

Banks
Yes, there was someone else who tagged a huge pile of these for A7 when I was doing some speedy deletion work, and I got rid of a load of them. I'm happy to take a look at the rest, there aren't as many as I was expecting, but feel free to tag any yourself. They aren't all obvious A7s, some include things like the total assets of the bank or relevant media coverage which could easily assert significance. Hut 8.5 19:17, 17 December 2015 (UTC)
- @Hut 8.5: thanks - I'll take a look too. The ones you describe may have to be sent to AfD (or in some cases just expanded). As a side note; the creator of these has the auto-patrolled flag, given to them by @HJ Mitchell:. Is it perhaps time to review that user-right? Surely most of these would have been caught at NPP otherwise. Vanamonde93 (talk) 04:53, 18 December 2015 (UTC)
- OK, I think I've got rid of the A7-eligible ones, there's only a handful left that haven't already been merged or redirected somewhere else. Hut 8.5 19:49, 19 December 2015 (UTC)

DYK for 1946 Bihar riots
On 22 December 2015, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article 1946 Bihar riots, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that between 2,000 and 30,000 people were killed in the communal riots in Bihar in 1946? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/1946 Bihar riots. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. |

Porur, Malappuram
The small village of Porur, Malappuram needs an article because it has its own Panchayati raj government and is not part of any other village. I can find more details on the village and fill them later. Regards, Prof. Manna (talk) 09:17, 28 December 2015 (UTC)
- Prof. Manna, Greetings. The village certainly needs an article, I'm not certain why you think I disagree. What I added to the page was a tag which said that it did not cite any sources. Hi Van, Wishing you a Happy New Year! Would you be interested in joining WP:INDOPAK? - Kautilya3 (talk) 00:10, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
- Kautilya3, the same to you. I would certainly join in; the biggest thing on my to-do list right now is not south-asia related, but I think there's a lot of scope for helpful cooperation in the future. Vanamonde93 (talk) 01:42, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
- Actually, hold on a second. I just read through the board, and I really like the idea; but I am mildly uncomfortable with the "Indian and Pakistani" part of it. I would much prefer "India and Pakistan." This is Wikipedia, after all; we're not trying to resolve diplomatic issues, but presumably improve article relevant to both countries, an effort which non-Indian, non-Pakistani editors should feel comfortable joining. Perhaps more importantly, we should not require identification of this sort. I for one decline to comment with respect to my Indian/Pakistani-ness or lack thereof. There is a good reason I have the "global citizen" template on my userpage. Vanamonde93 (talk) 01:57, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
- Whatever you want, Van. I think Mar4d started it and he is now gone. I am trying to breath some life back into it. We can shape it whatever way we want. Cheers, Kautilya3 (talk) 02:39, 4 January 2016 (UTC)

3rd Opinion
Thanks, Vanamonde93 for taking a look at giving a 3rd opinion. I had thought that the process allowed for opinions after minor involvement of others of a sort that was matched by the discussion, but fair enough if you think their involvement was too great for it to be relevant. Sorry for taking up your time. DrArsenal (talk) 11:36, 6 January 2016 (UTC)
- DrArsenal, the instructions at WP:3O say that only two editors must be involved in a dispute. If the involvement of other editors was truly minor or irrelevant, I would imagine that most folks would provide an opinion anyway; we're not a bureacracy, after all. In this case, I did not feel that the involvement of other editors was minor enough that I could ignore it. Regards, Vanamonde93 (talk) 15:57, 6 January 2016 (UTC)

Terrorism Template (Most Wanted Lists)
There are two parts in development for this template, which include a methodology of the handling of listed persons, or those who are listed as "terrorists." The first, was to introduce international methods of "listing" and the second, "status" of persons who are listed. These are not often expressed throughout "Terrorism" data or details, but co-exist alongside traditional apprehension "agencies" which have unfortunately funneled data throughout the entire portal. I do believe that it is self-explanatory that this methodology of "listing and capture" is well understood as an effective means according to their successes (located in graphs of subpages). If you can, please review the data of subpages, and inform me if you agree that such areas should exist within the template. If agreed, please kindly re-revert, and thank you for your interest in my contributions. Twillisjr (talk) 17:16, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
- I'm not sure I understand you; where are these pages "in development?" The issue with your addition was that it was synthesizing a lot of pages not explicitly related to terrorism, but crime in general. That problem remains, and you need to discuss that at the template talk page, not here. Regards, Vanamonde93 (talk) 17:23, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
I wrote a message on the talk page as requested, and agree, that, perhaps at this moment in time, it is wiser to not combine criminal activity with terrorism directly. Point taken. However, if no replies occur, I may add only direct terrorism "most wanted" areas to the template page. Twillisjr (talk) 19:17, 22 January 2016 (UTC)

i have many sources from high beam and according to Wiki its a reliable and credible sources example 1) https://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-420360879.html 2 ) https://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-438991021.html 3) https://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-417523826.html and i have about 10 more sources so can you give me a chance to add them and please review them its from credible source and one of the tools of search added by wiki Mohamed metawea (talk) 23:34, 4 February 2016 (UTC)
- Mohamed metawea, Welcome to Wikipedia. I'm not sure why you are contacting me in this case, but anyhow, here's a couple of things you should keep in mind. First, Highbeam is not a source, it is a database. It collects sources; some of these sources are reliable, and some are not, although mainstream media sources usually would be considered reliable. The second thing is that it's not enough for the subject of the article to be mentioned; there needs to be substantial coverage of the subject in the source. I can't check this, because I don't have highbeam access. Finally, since you have a few deletion notices on your talk page for multiple reasons, I would suggest reading over WP:COI and WP:GNG first; and then, if you are still planning on creating a page, I would suggest using the Articles for creation process, where somebody can check your work before it goes up in mainspace and possibly gets deleted again. Regards, Vanamonde93 (talk) 23:53, 4 February 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for your advice and feedback regarding my first article (Dwayne Perkins). Being both an inexperienced cook and and inexperienced editor, I have found that I have the best success with cheeseburgers. (My cheeseburgers are pretty good.)
I have prepared this one diner-style, once-flattened, with a nice crust, and melted with American cheese, which is the official cheese of hamburgers. Marknashtx (talk) 19:09, 13 February 2016 (UTC) |
- Marknashtx, many thanks. I don't often eat burgers in RL, but I will consume this cyber-burger with relish. Cheers, Vanamonde93 (talk) 17:01, 14 February 2016 (UTC)

Women's history month
Hi Van, For the Women's History Month, can we work on the Pandita Ramabai article? @Debasmitadeb: perhaps you might be interested too? - Kautilya3 (talk) 16:41, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
- Kautilya3, I'd be interested in principle, but it really depends on how busy I am then. Vanamonde93 (talk) 16:47, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
- Well, we don't have to do it in March of course. We are being encouraged to submit DYK's in March. - Kautilya3 (talk) 17:48, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
- True. I would be willing to do some work on it. DYK is tricky, though; it's new articles, new GAs, or 5x expansions. This is not eligible for the first, and getting either of the second will be difficult. Vanamonde93 (talk) 17:50, 22 January 2016 (UTC)

@Kautilya3 Thank you for considering me and i would be very interested. But March perhaps wont work for me due to professional commitments. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Debasmitadeb (talk • contribs) 06:47, 16 February 2016 (UTC)

Re: David Hattner
Can you clarify why you added the "clarification needed" tag to the article? It seems obvious to me (music influencing a musician), but I wonder you suggest specific wording. ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:56, 27 February 2016 (UTC)
- Another Believer; It's quite a minor point, but I think a fair one; the influence manifest in Hattner playing classical music, or baroque music, or his particular instrument, or even his conducting style. Hence the tag. Regards, Vanamonde93 (talk) 23:08, 27 February 2016 (UTC)
Adesayo Oyedijo
User:Vanamonde93 stated that Adesayo Oyedijo's profile reads like a resume. I totally disagree with with opinion because those are his achievements. A professor of that caliber with such achievements who got to the peak of his career deserves to be seen by the world. However, I support the opinion that this page should be kept. You may suggest ways to improve the page but deleting it would be absolutely improper. I vote for his page to be kept. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gboyeaig11 (talk • contribs) 14:59, 28 February 2016 (UTC)
- Gboyeaig11, greetings. I'm glad to see your enthusiasm for editing Wikipedia; unfortunately, for a page to remain on Wikipedia, it needs to meet the notability guidelines. You need to find evidence that he meets these guidelines, and post it at the deletion discussion. Regards, Vanamonde93 (talk) 16:15, 28 February 2016 (UTC)
- User:Vanamonde93Good to hear from you. I have checked the notability guide and the sources of article Adesayo Oyedijo are good and reputable sources. Alot of people have already seen his page and there quite a lot of readers who got motivated by his page. Hence, I am still strongly of the opinion that the page should be left alone. If you have any positive suggestions that would benefit the page, I welcome them. But to suddenly say you want to delete a page I worked on for one month is totally absurd. Did you even read through his profile before starting to make unimaginable comments about removing his page? I went through your articles and I do not see how they are better than Ade Oyedijo's page. I am totally perturbed and disgusted about your negative attitude towards a good and worthy profile. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gboyeaig11 (talk • contribs) 16:40, 28 February 2016 (UTC)
- Gboyeaig11, I don't think you have read the guideline closely enough. You need to provide evidence of substantial coverage in reliable secondary sources. You have not done so, and the place to do so is on the deletion discussion, not here. Please post any further arguments you may have at the deletion discussion. Vanamonde93 (talk) 18:21, 28 February 2016 (UTC)

Letting everyone know that homosexual is the actual name for male with male.
Gay is in fact, the term for happy. Like I'm a gay man for my girlfriend is with me. Or I'm gay to know that I'm moving out soon of my parents house. Including my girlfriend is gay that she has a job. I'm gay to know that a friend of mine if going to contact me for a different job for me to work at. I'm even gay to know that I'm graduating soon. Homosexual only means a man likes, loves, enjoys or wants to be with another man. Might be weird; but it's the fact. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TimPrime1 (talk • contribs) 04:38, 29 March 2016 (UTC)
- TimPrime1, I am aware of the history of the word, but usage changes over time, as it has done in this case; see the article on the subject "gay". Vanamonde93 (talk) 14:28, 29 March 2016 (UTC)

1862
The edit I made from the 1862 article is not vandalism. I removed most of the names for two reasons. One being not-notable. The other has to do with the Project Years in the 1907 section. Sorry about that. 142.161.251.189 (talk) 21:17, 10 April 2016 (UTC)
- Indeed: I noticed, and left a message at your talk page subsequently. Go ahead and reinstate the edit, but do it without the "undid revision by XYZ" in the summary, and mentioning the discussion instead. It would help, too, if you created an account; people have a pretty low bar for vandalism around here, and the bar is perhaps lower for IPs than it should be.
