Actor/actress images
I've uploaded a lot of actor/actress images on Commons and created categories for them. However, I've not added any (except Shammi Kapoor and Sunil Dutt which had non-free images here), can you do a run of AWB to see which ones need an image and add them or add {{Commonscat}}
to those articles that have an associated category on commons (in the EL section or near where the categories are). Also, many have some low quality images in them now and can be replaced with better quality uploads. I don't have access to a PC for a while, so I can't do AWB runs. If you don't have access to AWB, you can request at WP:AWB. If you don't know how to do this, I can list it out step by step, but with only Mac, I can't do this myself. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 05:27, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
- I'm almost done with adding {{Commonscat}} to many of the articles and will check with the articles for images soon. —Commander (Ping me) 07:21, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks, I'm not fussed about the images, I just created the cats and added new images to prevent copyvios due to lack of choice. Also, the Cinefundas OTRS ticket may not be valid as it doesn't appear that they own many of the images they are releasing. —SpacemanSpiff 15:47, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
- I was about to ask the same thing regarding "cinefundas". Previously, there was a problem with a similar website named "Kollytalk". —Commander (Ping me) 16:42, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

Some doubt
Something seems odd about this image, which is claimed to be a Vizag skyline. I recall seeing an image of Mumbai very similar to this. Getting to the point, this does not seems to be an image of Vizag as claimed. With good faith, the uploader has mistakenly uploaded this and touted it as a skyline of Vizag. Direct evidence is not available, but still plz share your thoughts. X.One SOS 10:04, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
- Well, it sort of matches the Chowpathy beach in Mumbai and also this image. But Vizag does not have a Taj hotel, so I think I was mistaken. I didn't know Vizag was such a modern city. The beach road there looks much more modern than the Chennai beach. But, that's all statistical nonsense, so better leave it for now. X.One SOS 12:29, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
Regarding transliterations in "Jairam Ramesh, Ravi Shankar, Ramesh Aravind & other articles."
Hello!! Some of my edits in these pages have been reverted by user:mykelynch who asks me to take them to WP:dispute resolution. Although i've provided reliable sources for the tamil origin of "Jairam Ramesh & sri sri ravishankar" the admin' user had reverted them. Can you please post your valuable opinion in "user:mykelynch's" talk page, under the "kannada transliteration" section?? Please check the "Jairam Ramesh" & "Ravi Shankar" articles too. However i will take these cases to dispute resolution. Thank You. Hari7478 (talk) 13:05, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

V. V. S. Laxman FLC
The list wasn't promoted to FL because there was no consensus for doing so. To be promoted, a list needs to have supports from reviewers, and there weren't any here. There was an opposer, and multiple reviewers asking whether the list should be a separate page. Those circumstances led me to close the FLC as a non-promotion. I tried to give the list time to get reviews, but if the community doesn't think it should be promoted that's their decision, and it's my job as director to enforce their decision. Giants2008 (Talk) 17:31, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
- Just resolving the issues of commenters/opposers isn't enough for an article or list to be promoted. The reviewers have to offer their support, which indicates that they think a page meets the relevant criteria. That didn't happen at the FLC for this list, and we can't say that a reviewer supports a list by default once concerns have been addressed. If the reviewers don't support, it may mean that they're uncomfortable doing so for other reasons; in your case, they may have wondered whether the list had criterion 3b issues, since those was brought up during the FLC. Speedy Deletion
Hi. I see you tagged Air ambulance in Greece for deletion A3 just 2 minutes after it was created. We really need to give editors more time than that, as they may be in the process of creating the article, and immediately slapping a deletion template on them can scare away potential new editors - see the footnote on reasons A1 and A3 at WP:CSD, which suggests waiting at least 10 minutes before tagging -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 12:51, 26 December 2011 (UTC)

Re Certificate of Merit
Hi. It is very much feasible to have another article but it would not have any value-add as these awards were discontinued after 15Th NFA. Moreover, those are not always given. There were couple of awards given initially and then discontinued. Complete award listing and their respective templates shall be changed to accommodate these changes. I will take up that task as soon as I am finished with individual articles. Let me know if you have better approach or another opinion. Thanks. - VivvtTalk 06:10, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

I did eventually delete it, but only after I found the real image - your quoted one was cropped from same original - the WP image had more wall to the left of the person so did not come from the quoted URL - both come from http://img.ragalahari.com/gallery/billa/billa24.jpg. NB - if you find an image with google images - then rather than quote that huge url, you can right click on the image window (this is for firefox) and select "View Image" - that shows you the original (and a nice short url), you can also then goto Tools... Page Info which tells you (sometimes) the date and time of uploading to the web site (always nice to see a date previous to the WP upload date). Happy image hunting. I am asking him to explain why he thinks south Indian film industry is notable, and I am asking him to come to a consensus and he is not respecting.
I need your help
Please check this forwarded message at User talk:MThekkumthala
- 1. POV, Each indian film industry is individual in its own terms and have individual articles in wikipedia.
- 2. There is no single south indian film industry, Hindi film is also a part of revenue generation.
- 3. The gross revenues of each Indian film industry varies each year, Hindi Film Revenue in 2011 is higher.
- 4. There is no notability for this article, Instead it creates confusion and it not feasible to shift all the references and information from Cinema of India article.
- 5. Please obey the three revert rule.
- 6. The information in south indian film industry article is already provided in cinema of india article, please check it.

A Request
I know you are busy with lot of work dealing many articles and thereby you may bound to make some errors. But it will be more wise from you to pay extra attention on some important articles and especially the "Featured" and "Good" rated articles in wiki. The change you did on article Rajini by removing some portions in the "Popularity" section citing (WP:OR) is totally unfair from you. On this particular occasion it shows you had more interest in removal of content than trying to find any materials exist or not. When I could see some handful of reliable materials available, I don't know what made you to change it. This is where I feel at some point over time more experienced users trying to somehow bring in their power (admin or rollback or review) & dominance & try to control articles based on their view point -- which is not fair and ideal from contributing to wiki.
Also on "featured" and "good" rated articles try to be little patient and only when no proper reliable sources can be found over some period, admin have right to remove content citing (WP:OR). Take this case for Ex, Since this video clip was more popular in 2006 and that too outside India, there might be reasons we could not find reliable published material on-line faster. Say like major events, or functions taken place before 1990. Since we could not find any material published on-line through sites does not conclude that such incidents have never taken place. Also see a page itself was specially dedicated Little Superstar in wiki where it shows the significance and importance of the fact, event and data. Again don't compare it and say no sources available on this article. Ok, I hope you try to get me. I am just making a point to clarify on this case clearly. That's it. My only worry is I don't know for how many articles something similar mistake have been committed by admins & reviewers. Thats where I feel we should always don't stick to artificial paperwork of a guideline/rule/policy and we can try to apply some common sense and be more practical ---- Ungal Vettu Pillai (talk) 23:24, 2 January 2012 (UTC)
- I know the difficulty in multitasking and being an reviewer, roll-backer. Also I can get your good commitment and extra work in managing many articles. You see sometimes to really make a feel of the exact situation one might come; that seems to be looking like being hard, but really its not. Please do not take it as anything other than a point that was tried to explain you and thats it. Also kindly see that I told "we can try to apply some........." and so I am including myself also there & it does not point to you or anyone by any-means; at last we all are here for some good work and in the process there might be little difference in opinion but its all for the cause of a better work. Lets continue the work in good spirit and no issues. Enjoy editing.!! Cheers to you Vensatry. ---- Ungal Vettu Pillai (talk) 03:15, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

Re: Help needed
I am glad to do something new here following the monotonous lifestyle of wiki. Here goes. I've divided it according to para : Producer Rajam Balachander and V Natarajan won a cash of 20000 and a Rajat Kamal Award.
Balachander won the Rajat and a cash of 10000.
He also won an award in 1984 for portraying social and political struggles in his film. (Actually, some poetic language is added into it as a quote, but I'm not sure about what they mean)
He started producing films along with his wife in the 1980's in South Indian films
V Natarajan, born in 1944, researched as a doctor before moving to film production. He produced Achimillai Achimillai through his company, Kavithalya.
K Balachander made his first Tamil film in 1965 titled Neerakumidi and earned fame as a director, establishing himself in the film industry. He wrote and directed films in Kannada, Tamil and Hindi. Four of his Tamil films were sent to National festivals, and they earned accolades. In 1981, he earned the best screenwriter National award for Tanner Tanner.
There is one more sentence in the last paragraph, after Tanner Tanner, though I'm not sure of its translation, I think it means that "He is the head of "Bay" 31 of the National Film jury." My Hindi has been worn out following the last few months so I could not come up with a professional translation. If you are contributing to an FA article, please ask a person who can speak native Hindi. Thanks for the understanding, and regards. X.One SOS 12:53, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
- Uh, ya, regarding the 3rd para, its actually commending the film, not the director or producer. Vaguely, it says something like "The Tamil film Achamillai Achamillai, which released in 1984, “portrays a wife’s beauty in political and social issues.” If you have seen the film, you may have a better idea. Please connect it to the film's plot. I have mixed up the grammar somehow in that para..But since you asked roughly, I thought it would be enough. Thanks for acknowledging. - This film is a good nut to crack. Thanks anyways! Also on the issue of references, i would like to address all regular Filmy editors. We have to find out & finalize on what sources can be relied upon. I see that partial discussions of these have happened in FA/GA verification processes of various articles. We should club them all and have a "Reference List of References". Or does one already exist somewhere? - (talk page stalker) Thanks for trying! Regarding the reliable sources issue that AK mentions, yes, that would be an excellent idea. You might want to run any "possibles" through a couple of projects for their consideration, eg: ask at WT:INB and the movie project. When you get consensus that they're ok then you can create a permanent link from your resource list to that discussion. The other good place for community discussion of such things is, of course, the reliable sources noticeboard. - Sitush (talk) 11:14, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

Chennai
Hey, I think you remember the talks we had about Chennai being a 'Gateway to South India'. Editors objected it due to lack of reliable sources. I just came across a few sources which support the statement listed and I think these are sufficient enough. It's just a sobriquet that many Indian cities have. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Thought I'd ask your opinion before adding it. Thanks. X.One SOS 13:53, 13 January 2012 (UTC)
- Outdated? Please check the sources. Some have been published in 2009 and 2010. And trivial? Its a sobriquet dude. Just like Garden City and Pensioner's paradise for Bangalore and City of Pearls for Hyderabad. :) X.One SOS 14:01, 13 January 2012 (UTC)
- Well, we can only provide sources, not individually interview people in the middle of a street. And another problem is that Chennai talk has no traffic. I wish the article would get delisted as of now, then I am planning to rebuild each and every brick of it and make it a GA or FA again. Best wishes, and a happy pongal. X.One SOS 14:08, 13 January 2012 (UTC)
- Ah, no criterion exists. Chennai is still leading in many aspects like, for example it is a port city and has the busiest port in South India. A large chunk of its income comes from overseas, unlike the other 2, which depend heavily on domestic resources for GDP. It also has the busiest airport in the South. Not sufficient? I'll call for a discussion. X.One SOS 14:14, 13 January 2012 (UTC)
- If you want to look at Overseas income, you should look at Kerala, not Chennai ;) (No offence though :P ). Lynch7 16:26, 13 January 2012 (UTC)
- You're right. But I didn't mean to mention Chennai as one of the highest squeezers. TN's still the most preferred overseas tourist destination in the country after Delhi, beating Goa and Mumbai. :) Still, its India, not two places separated by an ambuja cement wall. :P X.One SOS 14:08, 14 January 2012 (UTC)

Chennai might be still leading but the progress has declined very much over the recent years unlike other cities like Bangalore or Pune for that matter. If GDP matters, Bangalore is still a step ahead of Chennai. —Commander (Ping me) 18:13, 14 January 2012 (UTC)

Two issues
Hey, I just wanted a put a note on two issues here. First, why was the image on Shankar's article changed when we had a discussion about it earlier? Its resolution has been changed, taken with flash, and Shankar's face ain't that white. It doesn't even illustrate the subject properly. User:Keyan20, if he had changed it after seeing the discussion, I call it discourteous. Please look into the matter whenever possible. Second, I noticed that instead of wasting too much of space, you didn't use a : or * after a continuous thread. In such cases, kindly use an {{Outdent}} template, in order to avoid a haphazard understanding. Thanks. X.One SOS 13:19, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
My edits
After the RfA for MikeLynch, if you guys have any doubts about me, please feel free to ask me. I've created a section called The Tweets on my Talk page, where I'm willing to ask any questions. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 18:07, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
SPI of Arfaz
Are you referring to this? And hey, I think Padmal has come back. Why not give him a nice, warm sauna bath and in the meantime, report him. He's becoming more of a timepass for me. :) X.One SOS 13:21, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
- Oh, and could you spend a minute giving your opinion here for an AfD. X.One SOS 13:49, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

Incorrect edit
Hey, thanks for the heads up! I'm pretty new to editing articles here but have used Wikipedia so much I just wanted to start helping out. I was just trying to correct some spelling and broken table code from the user before me, so I apologize if I further messed anything up. If you have any additional tips, I'd love to hear them. Thanks, LegacyOfValor (talk) 00:47, 17 January 2012 (UTC)

Hey, just report to WP:AIV if more vandalism comes from there, just reverting doesn't seem to be enough. Lynch7 09:36, 19 January 2012 (UTC)
- I did once and got this reply —Vensatry (Ping me) 09:47, 19 January 2012 (UTC)
- Hmm, odd. Looks vandalism to me, though maybe not blatant. Unexplained image removal, addition of completely unsourced content, removal of the references section, removal of perfectly obviously valid categories, addition to Protected Pages category, plus a refusal to communicate. Just see once more. Leave a kind note to him. File a report in ANI if he doesn't follow again. Lynch7 09:53, 19 January 2012 (UTC)
