Hyderabad, India
Hi, Recently we had gone through lot of corrections and additions at Hyderabad, India. May you kindly spare some time to advice for more corrections and copy editing if required. :) regards.--Omer123hussain (talk) 08:49, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
- Omer, I have very little time on WP as I'm tied up with lot of work in real life. I think I'll be able to do this once I get back into editing. —Vensatry (Ping me) 15:12, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi, I'd like you to review the article on actor Gemini Ganesan and see how well I've edited it (don't forget 2 check the edit history!) BTW, what do I do so that the portrait of Gemini stays in the infobox? Pls leave me a talkback. Kailash29792 (talk) 05:31, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
- The Miss Malini image is in Public domain. This implies that the image is out of copyright and considered a free one, where as the image that you'd added is a fair-use image. You have a misconception that any high quality image which portrays the subject in a nice way must be preferred. Please read WP:IUP. —Vensatry (Ping me) 15:22, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the advice, but i still prefer this image File:Geminiganesan 1.jpg over a screenshot of an "unrecognisable" Gemini Ganesan. So what should I do now? Change the licensing of the portrait image? if yes, how? Kailash29792 (talk) 16:18, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
- Hmmm, I can confidently say that you never made an attempt to read the policy. In your upload you have not mentioned from where the image was taken and stated the date to be unknown. But you have cleverly tagged the image to be under PD India. I don't know how that is possible. You have completely messed up with the image which I had earlier uploaded under FUR. —Vensatry (Ping me) 16:32, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
So i think we'll have to delete it and start all over again... Kailash29792 (talk) 16:39, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
- Delete what? No issues, I've reverted the image to a proper version. —Vensatry (Ping me) 17:43, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
delete images
how do i delete the older versions of my own uploaded images? Kailash29792 (talk) 14:28, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
- Older versions? why do you want to delete them when you've uploaded the new version. Only administrators can delete files. —Vensatry (Ping me) 15:05, 2 May 2012 (UTC)

Hiya, Vensatry, you recently asked me to copy-edit this article; I've decided to do it because it's quite short compared to some I've been doing recently. I'm telling you here because I've stopped accepting direct c/e requests and don't want editors to think I'll say 'yes' every time. Om Shanti Om
Do you think we should pull the GA nomination of Om Shanti Om like you did for Aishwarya Rai? I am already working on 2 other articles now. BollyJeff || talk 02:21, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
- It's a premature nomination. Looking at the article's history, it looks like the user isn't a major contributor to the article. He has not consulted with any of the editors who were involved either. You can review the article if you want and leave a note on his talk page. —Vensatry (Ping me) 07:51, 12 May 2012 (UTC)

Hi Vensatry. Thank you for your work on patrolling new pages and tagging for speedy deletion. I'm just letting you know that I declined your deletion request for Vaalu, a page that you tagged for speedy deletion, because the criterion you used or the reason you gave does not cover this kind of page. Please take a moment to look at the suggested tasks for patrollers and review the criteria for speedy deletion. Particularly, the section covering non-criteria. Such pages are best tagged with proposed deletion, proposed deletion for biographies of living persons, or sent to the appropriate deletion discussion. Article has been significantly expanded since deletion. It would have to go through the deletion process again. Michael Greiner 05:50, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

some images i uploaded should be visible in google images search, but they are not! why? these are the "suffering" images: File:Pudhiya Paravai New Bird.jpg, File:Veerapandiya Kattabomman Poster.jpg and File:Thennilavu.jpg. Kailash29792 (talk) 11:29, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
- These are DVD scans and film posters which may not necessarily be available in the internet. —Vensatry (Ping me) 12:17, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
- but other scanned images i uploaded like File:Alibabavum 40 thirudargalum dvd cover.jpg and File:Uthama-Puthiran 1958.jpg, their wiki results are still visible in google images! i think i've messed up something. Kailash29792 (talk) 04:23, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
- It's very simple. The "Alibaba" and "Uthamaputhiran" images were uploaded a few months back and henceforth is visible in the image search result (only the WP pages are listed). For recently uploaded images it may take some time. —Vensatry (Ping me) 06:38, 17 May 2012 (UTC)

Vidya in The Dirty Picture
You mean to say that Vidya Balan did not receive "universal acclaim" for The Dirty Picture? Smarojit (talk) 10:30, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
- What do you mean by universal acclaim? Was her work in The Dirty Picture nominated for Oscar, Bafta, Golden Globe or any other "FIAPF-accredited film festivals" ? —Vensatry (Ping me) 10:41, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
- Wow! So the Oscar's judge the standard of an Indian film actress' success in an Indian film. I didn't know that! Smarojit (talk) 07:17, 13 May 2012 (UTC)
- Hmmm you need to answer my first question! —Vensatry (Ping me) 07:21, 13 May 2012 (UTC)
- The answer to your question is that critics from both India and abroad were unanimous in applauding her performance. And that's precisely what "universal acclaim" means. Smarojit (talk) 07:56, 13 May 2012 (UTC)
- May be! I'd still not support the statement because it did not fetch her any award like what Suchitra Sen got for Saat Pake Bandha. IMO that is universal/international acclaim or whatever you may call. A film doing well overseas no way implies that the lead character is solely responsible for the same or it doesn't make them a big star there overnight. I'm unsure about the fact that how many audience outside India would be aware of Vidya Balan. Anyway if you feel the film fetched her universal acclaim add it back with a reliable source. —Vensatry (Ping me) 10:48, 13 May 2012 (UTC)
- Acclaim means appreciation from a noted authority. Critics, both from India and outside praised her performance, that could easily be summarized as a universal acclaim. Awards are also one form of acclaim, but they are not the only one! Could you point out one negative remark from a notable critic or judge on her performance? Secret of success (talk) 12:36, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

"Universal acclaim" is a little subjective and highly challenging. I never said that her performance in the film got negative/mixed reviews. I was only concerned about the "universal acclaim". As for critics outside of India praising her performance, can you provide some sources? —Vensatry (Ping me) 14:38, 13 May 2012 (UTC)
- Rotten tomatoes. Secret of success (talk) 16:32, 13 May 2012 (UTC)
- Is this sufficient enough to prove her performance earned her lot of acclaim from all over the world. If that's the case, I can show you many movies of Aishwarya Rai for which she got universal acclaim. I think unanimous acclaim is somewhat acceptable. —Vensatry (Ping me) 09:49, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
- So, you are saying that universal acclaim means praise from critics residing in all the 193 countries of the world? Secret of success (talk) 05:03, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
- In this case, "universal acclaim" is bordering on wp:peacock. Why do not you use exatcly what you are trying to convey by the term"universal". Borrowing fom a post above, "...critics from both India and abroad were unanimous in applauding her performance" -- this clause can be used instead of "universal". That would be objective and true, rather than the vague term universal.--Dwaipayan (talk) 14:55, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
- I was about to express the same what Dwaipayanc has explained. Did I ever say Aishwarya's films got praise from 193/195 countries all around the world. —Vensatry (Ping me) 03:09, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Mani Ratnam
Hello, I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know I am glad to be reviewing the article Mani Ratnam you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period.
Secret of success (talk) 04:35, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
- My apologies, but I feel the article was nominated prematurely. It needs a lot of work on whether the sourcing mainly, along with a bit of prose work. If you want, I will gladly continue the review but it will take a lot of time, mind you. Thanks. Secret of success (talk) 05:48, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
- Hmmm, same thoughts here. I thought it will take more time these days to review as the page is full of backlog. There are problems with existing sources with many of them not following WP:V. I really had no time to check each and every source. Will renominate the article once all these issues are fixed. You may fail the article as I have very little time on WP at the moment. —Vensatry (Ping me) 16:01, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
- In the meanwhile you may also further review the article if you wish. I might be able to address a few concerns. —Vensatry (Ping me) 16:23, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

Kapil Dev List
just saw your post in my archives, I see that someone else has already copyedited, is there anything in particular you want me to take a look at? cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 07:06, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
- There hasn't been a big change in the quality of prose after the copy edit. Can you provide an informal review about the whole article. —Vensatry (Ping me) 16:17, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
- The lede appears to be a bit weak and disjointed -- the sentences are fine by themselves, but there's no continuity and a bit of context would help I think (esp. para 2/3). I'll see if I can do something on it over the next couple of days. —SpacemanSpiff 19:09, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

I have added more issues to the review page. Do you think its possible to fix them? If not, I shall have to fail the article. Thanks. Secret of success (talk) 16:24, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
- I'll be able to fix them. But the article still has some problems (mainly with the ref part) and I'm planning to add more stuff. Since a GAR isn't the process to improve an article (which does not meet the criteria) to make it a GA, you may also fail if you think it's no where close to GA as I already said. —Vensatry (Ping me) 02:59, 25 May 2012 (UTC)

We have to decide that on which article will we work. So for that I'd love to invite you to share your opinion and express your vote at the page, FA-GA June. At the end of the contest, editors will be given awards by the co-ordinators. We will really like to have an editor like you for our first collaboration. So please do join us! Just wanted to say, welcome to this corner of the project. Even if I happened to oppose your nomination today, I'm glad to see you there--sorry your first one didn't go through. I've only been active a few months myself, but you get the feel for what's likely to pass and what's not pretty swiftly. The criteria are poorly explained, but in practice they appear to be 1) breadth and prominence of international coverage; 2) demonstrable encyclopedic significance; and 3) quality of the update to the article(s).
Looking forward to seeing more of you there! -- Khazar2 (talk) 16:30, 31 May 2012 (UTC)

In accordance with the article being reviewed for GA status, shall we add critical responses for his movies? He has got praise as well as sharp criticism at the same time for most of his movies. What say? Thanks. - VivvtTalk 04:43, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
- I had a thought of adding it. But I find it very difficult when it comes to find online sources. If you are intending to add you're are most welcome. But make sure that the content does not change significantly day-by-day as it affects the GA review. Regards —Vensatry (Ping me) 15:34, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
- In that case, I would prefer waiting till GA review. Thanks. - VivvtTalk

- Hello Vensatry. The article is now in a much better shape, and I would be willing to give it a pass tag, if the two issues, still persisting in the GA review, are patched up. Secret of success (talk) 06:34, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
- I have passed the article. It looks good now. Secret of success (talk) 14:57, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

First of all thanks for providing an in-depth review. Never had a thought that the article would go through. Thanks for your patience as well. —Vensatry (Ping me) 15:03, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
- I apologize for the late reply. I absolutely missed your talk-back for some reason. Congratulations for lifting the article to GA status. I will another section for the critical response. I hope it does not affect GA status. Thanks. - VivvtTalk 14:23, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
- It won't affect the GA status in anyway. The article is currently too short for a director like him. I'm planning to expand it further. —Vensatry (Ping me) 16:29, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
