I like your Mar Lodge Estate images. Can I suggest you upload them directly to Commons. That makes them more widely available and has an automatic gallery. I have transfered some of the existing images. Finavon 07:53, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Edit Summary & Previews
editPlease describe your edits with the Edit Summary box. It is located just above the Save button you use. This makes it easier to understand edits when reading the page's History of edits. Also, please use the Show preview button to enable you to combine edits and reduce the number of Saves that you do. This avoids bulking out the edit History with lots of small edits. The Show preview button is located just to the right of the Save button that you use. Thanks. Hu 11:36, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
Whilst agreeing with Hu, I am very much enjoying your contributions. Keep up the good work.....your neighbour, Ben MacDui (Talk) 14:46, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
Thanks.
In general - I do too, but I'm hoping the focus won't be lost by too many pedantic edits. I think this article should stay focused on the post-1716 remnants of the Earldom of Mar - specifically what is now the 'Mar Lodge Estate' and 'Mar Estate' - that is a big enough subject on it's own. There is a good three hundred years to cover - including another 'rising'. Thanks again WikiWriter 20:07, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
I will take note of all comments ;-)
A tag has been placed on Linn of Dee to Lairig Ghru by Glen Lui, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}}
on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself.
If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Andante1980 13:03, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

Notability of I & N Records
editA tag has been placed on I & N Records requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. WWGB (talk) 12:33, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Beinn a Bhuird
editA tag has been placed on Beinn a Bhuird requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Pollytyred (talk) 17:20, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
- I removed the CSD tag, as I was able to identify the subject. Not everyone would be able to identify it, though - it's not a good idea to create articles without actually explaining what the subject of the article is in words (see the change I made).--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 17:38, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
- Two tips for you - when creating a new article, if you're not finished writing it, use the "show preview" button instead of "save page" to avoid this happening. Also, when responding to a person's comment, put your comment on the user talk page, not the userpage. Thanks.--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 18:05, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
Sorry
editI'm sorry I shouldn't have tagged it so quickly especially considering an established editor had created it. Pollytyred (talk) 17:56, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
Beinn a Bhuird
editI've been busy (just started a job) but I would say just to avoid original research per WP:NOR and WP:V. If you don't find a source, don't include it.--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 19:48, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
Hi - I noticed your comment about "Beinn a' Bhùird" - the pronounciation given is for the pronounciation as written, but Watson may be recording the local version. It wouldn't be the first time that the OS got something wrong! --MacRusgail (talk) 18:10, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
The probable solution to this problem is to include some kind of footnote against the pronounciation. It may have been a local dialectal variation, found amongst a few old folk, like you say. The border dialects of Scottish Gaelic have had a tendency to fragment, and lose their grammar as they engage ever more with English...--MacRusgail (talk) 18:24, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (Image:Great-coxwell-barn.jpg)
editThanks for uploading Image:Great-coxwell-barn.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 18:20, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice
editHi,
As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.
We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.
You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.
We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Your templates
editHello, I noticed your citation templates and was wondering if you would consider substituting the current uses and moving them into your userspace (similar to what I've done with User:Ricky81682/Template:Harrison). There are ongoing discussions at TfD (in particular this and this and the like), some calling them speedy deletion candidates, and I wanted to notify you before I consider listing yours as well. If you were planning using them inside ref tags, there's a slight markup difference. I'm aware it's done a lot, but I just wanted to give you some time before I start. Thanks. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 20:32, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
- In my view, the concern over new editors trying to figure out the template usage is more important than the small gain in editors knowing every time a certain work is sourced. Something like the markup at Cairngorms#Sources is somewhat cryptic and another problem comes if there is ever a change to Template:Cite book (the current uses can be fixed but I double people will immediately figure out templates that references it). Plus, I fixed this. =) -- Ricky81682 (talk) 07:42, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

Notification of automated file description generation
editYour upload of File:BolsaChicaBicyclePath 21AUG02.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.
This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks! Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
