Merge

I think you will find instructions on merging articles somewhere in Wikipedia. At the simplest level, it is a matter of combining the two articles, but normally it is then necessary to edit out duplicated material. In all cases with article merging, the article merged from is replaced by a Redirect to the target, but it is also necessary to check for double redirects and change them. See Wikipedia:Merging. You're welcome. Don't remove the clock, it works as well as any of these "userbox clocks" do. It will reset to the correct time every time you refresh the page or click on the "refresh" sign on it. They are not ticking continuously as some you can mark for your own view in your 'Preferences'. And you also have to set it on the right time zone. cart-Talk 12:56, 24 September 2016 (UTC)

Blofeld: Another idea, if you're anyway going to expand the Nordic challenge, is to include the Baltic states in it. It would be quite natural I think considering the strong links between the regions anyway and this way you'd be saved the extra trouble. Yakikaki (talk) 19:21, 27 September 2016 (UTC)

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

Haha, yes I heard about the ancient language! I've tried to learn more about Lithuania with the intention to go there but so far there's always been something else coming up. Latvia I've been a lot and Estonia I used to live in, but Lithuania has so far eluded me. Hopefully soon, though! Kaunas seems like an interesting place, too, being the former capital and all. Lovis Corinth: Kirchhof in Nidden

Yes, and Nida, a former fishing village which when it was part of Germany (as Nidden) became an artists' colony of sorts. It's fairly touristy nowadays, but Thomas Mann's old summer house has been restored and contains a museum about that unique area of the Curonian Spit (Kurische Nehrung). It's very close to the Russian (Kaliningrad Oblast) border.

You might also like to visit Druskininkai, down near Belarus. It has a number of attractions, including a house once occupied by the Lithuanian composer and artist Čiurlionis, a favorite of mine. (A few years ago I did quite a lot of work on our Čiurlionis article.)

I've been to Kaunas but I personally didn't find it particularly interesting.

I've read that Estonian is not any easy language, either. Latvian seems to be sort of a simplified version of Lithuanian. Sca (talk) 23:46, 26 March 2017 (UTC)

Dr. Blofeld: I'm not sure whether GB vs Europe would be the best approach. Why not just Continental Europe? Are you again thinking about a mainly geographical exercise? If so, it might be better to cover one country or one major region at a time, e.g. Scandinavia or German-speaking countries. Let's first of all wait for the results of GB and Ireland. Well we won't know until something is run, I'm willing to try a range of ideas. The problem is that we largely don't have the editors to support smaller contests for non anglo world areas. Of course if I organised a Nordic destubathon or something we'd probably work out something decent. Ultimately I want to set something up so more people can run them without my input. Typically those would be continent wide ones with editors who participate in the challenges and perhaps one for the US and Australia.
