Visual editor acting weird

Hello! I've been having a weird issue with the visual editor. Basically, if I select a lot of text and if somewhere in that text is a reference, I can't delete it. I can do it manually by holding backspace but not if its selected all at once. I tried updating and restarting Windows 10 but that didn't work, and my browser (Firefox) is up to date. I would like to know if you guys can help me with something about DAF camps.

Hello,

I recently acquired a small collection of WWII-Germany DAF, NSDAP & other items of the sort. The one item that’s making scratch my head is a DAF banner or mantel, that has a DAF patch sewn on. On the bottom of that it says “1940” & underneath that “VII-K”. Then a leather swastika patch sewn on the bottom area. The cloth used for everything to be sewn on looks and feels like a large pillow case that has been closed. So no holes no place a stick for a flag or hang as a banner. The “mantle” (lets call it that for now) has dirt marks like if a coal worker cleaned his hands on it or like an old school mechanic. Got off track a bit. What I wanted to find out is the numbers on it. Where the camps numbered in any way? I see you guys have them in alphabetical order but did the Germans numbered their camps?

Any help you can give me or if you can point me in the right direction would be a great help.

HowTo: Tweak magic-wiki-markup to appropriately get introductory treble-clef-with-score icon to introduce song lyrics. Thx!

What 'magic-wiki-markup' causes an introductory treble-clef with score to appear? I did an edit on the entry The Party's Over (1956 song) and copy/pasted markup from the America the Beautiful article. To my pleased amazement, there appeared the treble-clef-with-score and stub message about missing referencews. I'd like to use this markup, but this rusty wikean is once again baffled on how to tweak the markup.

I've got my fingers crossed that the following markup from "The Party's Over" will illustrate the treble-clef with score:

According to the web-site SecondHandSongs, there have been almost 100 covers of The Party's Over , with various alternative lyrics.

Nope. Drat. The treble-clef with score doesn't show up.

How to create more than one sandbox

Sure, you can, Roger gdare; I do it myself when I'm dumping notes for multiple articles. Your sandbox is just a user page under your user name. You can create User:Roger gdare/Sandbox2, User:Rogert gdare/Sandbox3, etc, but also you can name pages in your userspace anything you want, like User:Roger gdare/Sample article. Sorry, I didn't exactly say "how", did I? The quickest way I've found to create a new page in userspace is to go to my userpage, and then add a slash and the page name in the address bar of my browser and hit "enter". When you do that, you'll see a message that says "Wikipedia does not have a user page with this exact name." and immediately below that it says "Start the (name) page." How to [[:arabic_interwiki_of:English_article_name]]

Nelson_Mandela's Arabic article is ar:نيلسون مانديلا.

1. [[Nelson_Mandela]] becomes Nelson_Mandela
2. [[:ar:نيلسون مانديلا]] becomes ar:نيلسون مانديلا

I want to link arwiki, writing the English name, not the arabic spelling. For example, I hope there is a *** that makes [[***:Nelson_Mandela]] become the same as 2.

Actually, since on arwiki "Nelson Mandela" is a redirect to "نيلسون مانديلا", you can just use ar:Nelson Mandela. (This obviously won't work for every case, though.) Eman235/talk 20:03, 28 September 2019 (UTC)

If you know the Wikidata item then you can use Module:Wikidata label#getLabel. For example, clicking "Wikidata item" under "Tools" on Nelson Mandela gives Nelson Mandela (Q8023), so {{#invoke:Wikidata label|getLabel |item=Q8023 |lang=ar}} produces . I don't know whether you can get the Wikidata item of a page by giving the page name. If you want to display the language code then [[:ar:{{#invoke:Wikidata label|getLabel |item=Q8023 |lang=ar| link=-}}]] produces [[:ar:]]. PrimeHunter (talk) 12:18, 29 September 2019 (UTC)

Reference formatting

Hi Folks, I have this ref from a German article: This is it: <ref>Heinrich Scheel: ''Die Rote Kapelle – Widerstand, Verfolgung, Haft.'' In: Hans Coppi junior, Jürgen Danyel, Johannes Tuchel (Hrsg.): ''Die Rote Kapelle im Widerstand gegen Hitler.'' I want to try and format it. Its a article or chapter inside a book. This is the book:[1] You can see it is a series, and this: [2] is the entries in the Series:Schriften der Gedenkstätte Deutscher Widerstand and if you search on it you find the article: Die Rote Kapelle im Widerstand gegen Hitler.. @Scope creep: I think that if you look in Template:Cite book#Examples under "Citing a chapter in a book with different authors for different chapters and an editor", you'll find what you want. Hi @Deor: Thanks for replying. So that is what an editor is, that is where the confusion lies. So when somebody writes a book and request folk to write each chapter, the chapter writers are editors. I always thought an editor was somebody who took a written book and checked the spelling and layout and whatnot. scope_creep^Talk 18:48, 29 September 2019 (UTC)

The writers of individual chapters or sections or articles are: authors so |lastn= / |firstn= or |authorn=. In these cases, the editor is the person who compiles the book – assembles the various author-writings into a book. The editor in these cases is often found on the cover and title page. Look at your source and you should see that. For your example perhaps:

DOI in references

is doi:10.1038/333545a0 or it should be doi=10.1038/333545a0 ?

Its for the Anastasios Tsonis article. Second one, but you can use a shortcut to use doi in journal articles. If you look at the edit bar above you when your editing, you will see Cite button and a drop down which will say cite journal. If you plug the doi into the doi field and press search, will auto populate the dialog, press ok and it will create the reference for you. Lastly I noticed, professors are only emeritus when they retire, not distinguished. scope_creep^Talk 22:07, 28 September 2019 (UTC)

Hi there, someone set up Talk:It was a dark and stormy night with auto-archiving by month/year, but there's no search box or listing of the archives at the Talk page, and I can't figure out how to enable one. I hope I'm not running in circles

At this WikiProject message, I had a short concern. Then for the targeted page, so far some of the info came from wikia/ fandom. Which might raise a concern to WP:UGC. what do you do? If there was a new page made on the bases of MOS:TVUPCOMING? Based on info that was copied from wikia/ fandom. On this page or article if there is no refs/ sources saying a new season was renewed yet. But only the theme songs were vaguely announced that came from wikia/ fandom. Just earlier ago the theme songs you mentioned, I had a google search to [3] and [4], which is from 'wikia/ fandom' but to this has said otherwise. But was it too soon for Rahmadiabsyah to make Black Clover (season 3)? If there isn't something close to meeting MOS:TVUPCOMING. As I been trying to read further there, shouldn't Rahmadiabsyah would of waited until refs has stated that the anime is moving from one season to the next?
