editUpload a file under PD-Japan-Organization
editI want to upload the poster for The Maid's Kid, which is from 1955. I don't understand if that means it's under public domain or not and I don't know how to do it. Megutim (talk) 00:00, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, Megutim. Movie posters can be uploaded under the terms of WP:NFCI #4, as long as the article includes critical commentary about the film. Follow the instructions carefully. Cullen328 (talk) 00:08, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Megutim: Hi there! I enjoy using the Wikipedia:File Upload Wizard to upload non-free files such as movie posters. If you could add some critical commentary to the article, that would be great too! GoingBatty (talk) 03:51, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Megutim. There is a copyright template called c:Template:PD-Japan-organization, but that template is for use on English Wikipedia's siste project Wikimedia Commons and it won't work here on English Wikipedia. It's probably best to assume that most movie posters are protected by copyright and then work from there. A poster of the film could most likely be uploaded as non-free content and used in the main infobox of The Maid's Kid, but any other type of non-free use is going to be hard to justify. The copyright license {{Non-free film poster}} and the non-free use rationale {{Non-free use rationale poster}} are often used for non-free movie posters, and they would probably fine in this case. If you really think the posters is somehow within the public domain, you might want to ask about it at c:Commons:Village pump/Copyright to see what some others think. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:13, 16 February 2023 (UTC)

We recently went through some rebranding and would like to update the title. We have made changes but it does not seem to update the actual title. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Historichope (talk) 04:56, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
Create Profile
editI create my profile and published but can't see when i search? Please help RezaulIslamShamim (talk) 07:59, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
- Wikipedia does not have "profiles". It isn't a social media platform; instead it is an encyclopedia consisting of articles, and you have not created an article. You have created a user sandbox draft which wouldn't be suitable to become an article because it is unsourced, and a user page which does not meet the intentions of a user page. It looks as if you may have been trying to write about yourself, in which case you ought t read the advice against autobiography. - David Biddulph (talk) 08:25, 16 February 2023 (UTC)

- I create my sandbox , which i can published in wikipedia RezaulIslamShamim (talk) 19:16, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
- @RezaulIslamShamim: Hi there! WP:AUTO explains that Wikipedia strongly discourages autobiographies. Creating a new article is one of the hardest things to do on Wikipedia, especially when you have a conflict of interest (COI). To learn how to edit, I suggest you start at Help:Introduction. I suggest spending a significant amount of time editing existing articles to hone your skills. When you're ready to create an article, you would gather multiple published independent reliable sources that have provided significant coverage of you, and determine whether they demonstrate that you meet Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, called "notability". If so, you could create an account and declare your COI on your user page. Then follow the instructions at Help:Your first article, and be prepared for a process that may include months of waiting for review, rejections, and rewrites, before an article is created. If you are successful, then you could never edit the article directly due to your COI, but could submit edit requests on the article talk page. Hope this helps. Article translation
editI translated this "article", it is on Wikipedia in 7 other languages, and where do I put it for review? Samer787 (talk) 09:29, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
- You don't exactly 'put' it anywhere, you click the blue rectangle that says "Submit the draft for review!" and in due course (which could be an hour or a month) someone will review it.
- However, I wouldn't advice you to do that yet. I am not a reviewer, but it seems to me that you have only alluded to some things that the subject has done, without even giving any details about them.
- Firstly, You cannot expect readers of the piece to click through all the external links in your references to read the information in them – that information should be summarized in the article, with the references serving only to corroborate what the piece says if someone wants to verify them.
- Secondly, what makes the subject Notable in (English) Wikipedia's use of the term is not what he has done, but what other people independent of him have published about him and his doings at substantial length in Reliable sources, explaining why what he has done is of interest. I hope this is helpful. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 51.198.141.181 (talk) 10:30, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
Moolort railway line - infobox
editI'm having trouble with the infobox for Moolort railway line in which the route map is embedded, which looks clumsy - removing brackets causes it to revert to code, so I'm unsure of how to insert it properly. Thank you for any assistance! Jamesmcardle(talk) 10:18, 16 February 2023 (UTC)

Katie Flynn page
editI went to great lengths to update my page, and despite the fact it was taken down by one of your people, he soon realised his error and put it back up. However, when I came to have a look at it today, just fifteen days later, I see that someone has changed the content, and I wasn't informed! Holly Flynn (talk) 15:17, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
- See WP:OWN, it is NOT your "page" you have a conflict of interest and should not be editing there at all, you can however submit suggestions on the article's talk page with the {{request edit}} template and a reliable source. Theroadislong (talk) 15:28, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Holly Flynn: We have no obligation to inform you of changes, but if you wish to be notified of changes in an article, then put it on your watch list and set the parameter to have it generate an e-mail. -Arch dude (talk) 15:33, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
- Note--Holly Flynn previously acknowledged editing as KFBWT (talk · contribs). For good measure, this [1] is one of the most inappropriately promotional edits I've ever come across in a Wikipedia bio, and is probably a copyright violation [2]. 2601:19E:4180:6D50:65F5:930C:B0B2:CD63 (talk) 15:51, 16 February 2023 (UTC)

Alben Berkeleys home in Paducah, KY
editHello
Want to add my homes in Paducah, KY to the Historical Homes list as it was where Alen Berkley lived in Paducah when he was VP to Truman 76.22.240.6 (talk) 18:57, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
- im pretty sure that would be a conflict of interest, as you have a personal connection to the location -Bad At This, The Kneecap Destroyer (yell at me) 19:09, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
- Hello IP editor. Are you referring to the List of National Historic Landmarks in Kentucky? You should note that Wikipedia list like that only include landmarks that have articles in the encyclopaedia. Does your home have such an article? Please link to it here if it does. Otherwise, your first step would be to draft one using the WP:AFC process (click for instructions). Although you may have a conflict of interest, creating such a draft would not be against Wikipedia's rules. Note, however, that article creation is not an easy task! More advice at WP:YFA. conflict of interest?
editThis is the first time I have used Wiki, and am still learning. The page I have been editing is about a historic building in Dallas. Since the building was recently purchased the owner has done extensive research about the history of the building. I am adding historical details and following up with the references and links, but I got a "conflict of interest" notice? Should I be doing this a different way? They only want to share the history with the readers. Longhorn Ballroom
Please advise. thank you! Longhorneditor (talk) 19:35, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
- Well your user name reflects the name of the building/business so that may have flagged something, and there is a potential conflict of interest if you are being paid by the new owners. Refer to WP:COI for further details. LegalSmeagolian (talk) 19:42, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
- thank you! appreciate your time. I will pause on any edits. Longhorneditor (talk) 20:00, 16 February 2023 (UTC)

cs1 error - date
edit{{cite news}}
: Check date values in: |access-date=
and |date=
(help)
above is the error but i put in the date 11-12-2005 and variations of that such as November 12, 2005 but still get that error. argggh. help. Penroduntethered (talk) 20:12, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
- You should not be getting an error with
|date=November 12, 2005
. If you are, show me where you are seeing that error. You should get an error for|date=11-12-2005
because en.wikipedia does not support any numeric date formats except YYYY-MM-DD; rewrite as|date=2005-11-12
. - —Trappist the monk (talk) 20:42, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Penroduntethered: That (help) link takes you to Help:CS1_errors#bad_date, which has lots of information about good and bad date formats. I fixed the date format in Draft:Jan Cox in this edit. GoingBatty (talk) 21:09, 16 February 2023 (UTC)

VisualEditor "double click to edit cell" stopped working
editHello! Earlier today, double clicking to edit a cell in VisualEditor was working fine. Out of the blue, it's stopped working. I've checked on multiple pages (including my own sandbox), and it's not working on any of them. I can still edit cells if I click the cell, then hit enter, but I don't know why the double click has suddenly stopped, or what I can do to get it working again. Any help is appreciated, please! Thank you so much, have a great day! HeyElliott (talk) 22:04, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
- Actually,
- "I can still edit cells if I click the cell, then hit enter,"
- this is not working either. I attempted this again, and when I click on a link in the text to edit it, it just highlights the whole table and still doesn't let me edit. HeyElliott (talk) 22:07, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
- @HeyElliott: I guess this is a case of WP:ITSTHURSDAY. We got a new MediaWiki version today: mw:MediaWiki 1.40/Roadmap#23. That often causes some issues. They are usually fixed within a week or two. PrimeHunter (talk) 22:35, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
- Ah, I was not aware of that! I'll report the issue there, then. Thank you so much! HeyElliott (talk) 22:48, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
