Steven T. Wax

I worked on an article on Steven T. Wax, and moved it to userspace, User:Geo Swan/review/Steven T. Wax, in 2009, and subsequently requested its deletion under U1. Someone else created an article on Wax. I'd like the contribution history of my earlier version grafted to the beginning of the current article's history, so I can compare them, and see if there is anything in the earlier version not present in the second verion. Please edit the page to address the issues raised when it was declined, and re-submit it; "Articles for creation" is not for the indefinite hosting of material found to be unsuitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. Sure, but I have doubts about its viability. It has been declined a half a dozen times, and the latest version is still promotional in tone and lacks proper sourcing. Also, one request is enough--and please don't use the plural first person--it makes me think you are not an individual, objective editor. Drmies (talk) 17:34, 20 November 2015 (UTC)

  • Slade360 , you may want to ask for help from Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games, which is devoted to covering video game related material on Wikipedia. Finding coverage for pre-Internet games can often be very, very difficult and some of the members there can be pretty good at knowing where to check for sources that could show notability. On a side note, I actually remember playing this. I remember thinking that it was a pretty odd thing for Coke, but fairly novel as well. On a side note, you really, really shouldn't have merchant links in your article at all. Those aren't usable as a reliable source nor are they considered to be generally appropriate for Wikipedia because their primary purpose is to sell something to the reader. Essentially use of these sites can be seen as an endorsement of the product and/or website, which can make the page seem non-neutral. It's a pretty common mistake, so no true harm done, though. The article was initially nominated because it was not notable...but secondary sources were added and then it was deemed promotional. But no examples of this were given. This article is not promotional it simply states the history and nature of the event. Huccha Venkat

The person in question is a trending sensation these days in the South Indian state of Karnataka for variety of reasons. He has also been a favourite topic of mainstream media and also been discussed in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, and the outcome of this discussion may script the fate of reality shows in Karnataka. Hence, i request that this article be userfied, i.e, emailed to me. I would put my honest attempts to rebuild the article after the review, and submit it. •   Not done Rajannamysore, this was deleted as an A7 (no assertion of notability) by several different admins, (Peridon, GB fan, Bbb23, Graeme Bartlett) before it was salted by JohnCD. I think that at this point your best bet would be to try to create it at WP:AfC and see if it would pass notability guidelines there. While these new articles do show an assertion of notability, I'm somewhat concerned that they all deal with a legal case, which puts it in a tricky light on Wikipedia per the Biography of Living Persons guidelines. The long and short of this is that whenever someone is primarily known for legal issues, we have to approach with extreme caution since these can be seen as a WP:ONEEVENT type of deal. Now if one of these admins wants to restore the article history to AfD for you, I have no problem with that. Now as far as restoration here goes, REFUND can't do this since it was an A7. A7s can only be restored by the deleting admin (or one of them) or by WP:DRV if they all refuse. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 05:43, 21 November 2015 (UTC)

Huccha Venkat is an actor in 4 movies, director of 2 movies and lyricist. He is not known just for controversies. Unless somebody is settling personal scores with Huccha Venkat and using wikipedia rules to their advantage. I see several articles "Umesh Reddy", "Mysore Mallige Scandal" that qualifies for onetime event. Perhaps some people spend too much on reading wikipedia rules and find meaning between letters and words. Neither I am associate to Huccha Venkat nor his fan. I wanted to contribute to that article. This is shameful to see that article getting deleted, hopefully one of the admins didn't get offended by Huccha Venkat remarks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rajannamysore (talkcontribs) 06:54, 21 November 2015 (UTC)

  •   Not done - this Requests for Undeletion process is only for articles that were deleted uncontroversially, and does not apply to articles deleted after a deletion discussion. Since the article you are here about was deleted after a discussion took place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Eric West (5th nomination), it cannot be undeleted through this process. However, if you believe that the outcome of the discussion did not reflect the consensus of the participants, or that significant new information has come to light since the article was deleted, you may contact the administrator who closed the discussion, user Sandstein (talk · contribs). After you do so, if your concerns are not addressed and you still seek undeletion, a request may be made at deletion review. Deletion has been voted 3 times, and the page is salted. This has been so hotly debated that there won't be any unilateral override here. Instead WP:DRV is the place to ask. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 07:51, 22 November 2015 (UTC)

  •   Not done @Shawn randoo: This was very unambigously promotional, as it was peppered with things like "blessed us with his talent for over six and a half decades" and used the subject's first name. At best it could be considered too casual and it'd need a fairly thorough re-write to get rid of the tone and make it WP:NPOV. While this isn't something that would cause me to decline this draft, I also note that you cite an interview you held as a source. This is considered to be a self-published source and is unacceptable as a source on Wikipedia, as there's no way that we could verify the content at all - or even guarantee that the interview was even held. This makes the article original research, which isn't appropriate for Wikipedia. You need to have coverage in independent and reliable sources that can be verified by Wikipedia. DJ Montay

I clearly followed the Wikipedia:Notability (music) guidelines, by listing several examples of notablility. Wikipedia it's self has numbers pages listing the subjects credibility (Please see: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?search=dj+montay&title=Special%3ASearch&fulltext=1)

How on earth can a Grammy-Nominated, platinum selling producer with numerous songs not be notable? That is incredible... I am sorry, but it is dumbfounding.

The page was originally created back in 2008, and deleted. (I assume at the time, it did not show the artists credibility) It seems that the page was influenced by its previous status and has not been looked upon favorably.

None of the admins seem to have to time to assist in verifying the page and would rather destroy the work that has been put into creating it. If somebody can dispute it's claim as a valid page, please clearly demonstrate, as I have. I understand that admins have a large work load, but please do your work properly and improve Wikipedia. -Bobbybobbie (talk) 07:20, 20 November 2015 (UTC)

  • Bobbybobbie, since this was deleted via A7 by Drmies this is going to be a technical   Not done on my end. You need to ask him if he'd restore it and if he will not, take it to deletion review. Offhand Drmies, I'd say that this is something that would be best off going through AfD since there is an assertion of notability here via the BMI Urban Award win/nomination, as well as the association with notable people/acts. Whether or not he'd pass notability guidelines as a whole could be debated since I will note that the BMI source doesn't actually back up that DJ Montay won the Writer of the Year award. The source mentions a Songwriter of the Year Award, which was won by T-Pain, but not a more general WoTY. However I will note that two of the songs he produced did win (Low appears to have been a runner up per this link), so that might be what the article referred to. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 08:40, 20 November 2015 (UTC)
  • Now playing devil's advocate, I think I can see some of the reasons why Reddogsix tagged it as a speedy since it seems like it was the songs that were nominated rather than DJ Montay himself per se, plus some of the other awards (specifically the Grammy nomination) were unsourced. However I do still believe that this should have been AfD'd. Now the question here is whether or not this should be restored and taken to AfD or if it should remain deleted and potentially run through DRV. There's a chance that DRV could argue that the article could remain deleted, but there's also a chance they could argue for it to be restored and listed without actually making a judgement call on notability. It's basically Drmies call. I'd say restore it and let AfD sort it out, personally, since that might be less time consuming in the long run. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 08:47, 20 November 2015 (UTC)

I am sorry, Tokyogirl79. Here is the link for the Grammy Nomination (http://www.ew.com/article/2008/12/04/grammy-nominati) You are right, I should have written Grammy Nominated production rather than listing it as an artist nomination.

Thank you Tokyogirl79 for your help and understanding. It doesn't take much for somebody to conduct some basic research and refer to Wikipedia's own guidelines. This article can be improved with help from admins such as yourself.

It's very simple. As per the as per the Wikipedia:Notability (music) guidelines, he fits the criteria. I am taking the matter further.

  • Bobbybobbie, this was restored to your userspace at User:Bobbybobbie/DJ Montay by Shirt58, who has also offered to help with any questions. The WP:TEAHOUSE is also a good option as well. As far as the EW article goes, I don't see where it lists DJ Montay's name. Nominations are sort of a tricky thing, really, as they technically can't count towards notability since only wins can give notability on Wikipedia. Also, the source will need to explicitly state Montay's name to really help him out notability-wise if you resubmit this and it goes to AfD. As far as the Allmusic source goes, it would be considered a routine database listing. When the guideline discusses reference books they're referring to things like this one from Lexington Books. The Billboard source is somewhat questionable as far as influence goes, since the article is about who Flo-Rida respects as a beatmaker. He didn't explicitly state that he saw him as a major influence, which is what we'd really need to firmly establish that DJ Montay is notable. We'd also need more sourcing along those lines, since one of the unsaid things about that qualification is that it's expected that there will be multiple in-depth sources that discuss DJ Montay as a creative professional. A good example of what Wikipedia tends to see as an in-depth source would be something like this article about Tom Petty by Rolling Stone. This tends to be a common issue with producers since there's never a firm agreement over whether or not they should inherit notability on things they've worked on (since sometimes there can be many producers in various capacities) and many articles won't list them at all, preferring to focus on the artists. • Tokyogirl79, I agree with your points on the later; however, he has been credited as a producer/writer for songs that have been nominated of Grammy Awards and charted all over the world. (The first 2 points are clearly satisfied)

I respect your knowledge of music production and crediting, I wish you were able to deal with the matter from that start, rather than the other admins.

Thank you once again. I will continue to work on this article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bobbybobbie (talkcontribs) 10:04, 20 November 2015 (UTC)

  • Tokyogirl79, if Allmusic is just a routine database listing, where do you suggest I reference the credits from? I can only imagine using Allmusic or Discogs.

Bobbybobbie (talk) 10:14, 20 November 2015 (UTC)

  • Tokyogirl79, thank you. I will use it to back up his credits for the songs that have certifications, placed in charts, and won or been nominated for awards.

Bobbybobbie (talk) 10:46, 20 November 2015 (UTC)

I can see no mention of this artist in this Entertainment Weekly article.
Apart from this blog post, there appears to be no other mention of this artist on the Grammys website.
--Shirt58 (talk) 10:53, 20 November 2015 (UTC)
  • Tokyogirl79, as you may have suspected (in the "Devil's Advocate" section), I granted the A7 because the article makes no reliable/believable/sourced claim that the subject was in any important way intimately involved with the songs that were supposedly nominated. Notability is not typically deemed inherited, though many fans probably want that: if a producer is somehow responsible for some song or album being nominated for an award, reliable sources need to verify that this was in fact the case. Bobbybobbie, you don't need to be arguing for the songs: you need to be arguing for the role your subject plays in their production and success. BTW, I'm fine with userfication, and I'm fine with restoring this so it can go through AfD if need be. The version I deleted looks impressive cause it's got a big photograph and some fancy tables, but its content is problematic. Thank you, Drmies (talk) 17:01, 20 November 2015 (UTC)

It has been shown that he is the producer of the Grammy Nominated song Low, not to mention a number of others that have charted internationally.

How can the producer of the song not be responsible for (or a major part) of it's success?

Please see: Low (Flo Rida song), this, this, and this.

Yes, it looks impressive. Thank you. Can you please show me how to improve this article? Can you recommend a better place information on an artist than, Billboard, Allmusic, Discogs, iTunes? If so, can you please add it to this page.

Please restore this page, so it can be improved. Bobbybobbie (talk) 19:42, 21 November 2015 (UTC)

Is this still unresolved?
@Robert McClenon: moved this article into draftspace 16:19, November 22, 2015‎

Are we all OK with this?

STOPzilla

Our product Page was deleted without any notifications or explanation why. Is3 Inc.is an USA based software developer company with over 50 employees and Stopzilla is one of our main products. To date STOPzilla protected over 9,000,000 subscribers. In the last years providing ethical best possible service to our subscribers and is our number one priority. Our competition (AVG, Kaspersky, Bitdefender) exist on Wikipedia in same manner as our page existed. Not being visible on will send us back and create unfair advantage for companies mentioned. We are in the middle of recreating new Wikipedia page and significant investment was allocated to this effort. If STOPzilla page violated any rules we would like to know. Please contact me directly if we can provide any more information. Thank you , Novak Mirkovic VP Marketing (Redacted) -Acivon6791 (talk) 15:17, 23 November 2015 (UTC)

@Acivon6791:   Not done. Since this page was deleted after a deletion discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/STOPzilla (2nd nomination) it cannot be restored here. You should consult the administrator who closed the discussion, user Euryalus (talk); then, if you are not satisfied, you may apply at WP:Deletion review.
The words "Our product Page" and "We are in the middle of recreating new Wikipedia page" suggest that you have the wrong idea about Wikipedia. It is an encyclopedia, not a product catalogue or a place for you to tell the story you want the world to hear. In the history of the article, I see occasions when it was deleted as an advertisement, and deleted for copyright violation (no doubt copied from your website), and when a user named "Is3-stopzilla" was edit-warring to remove anything critical from the article. That is not how Wikipedia should be used.
Any article needs references showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject" to establish Wikipedia:Notability, and indeed should be based primarily on what others say about the product, not what its makers say.
If Wikipedia has an article about your product, it will not be your article, and you will not be able to insist on your preferred version. Please read the guideline Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and the Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide. In brief, you should not edit directly, but may submit drafts for review by uninvolved users, or make suggestions on article talk pages. Note also that you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use ("Paid contributions without disclosure" under section 4), and in some jurisdictions by laws against covert advertising, to disclose your interest in any edits where you have a COI. I have taken the liberty of redacting the phone number. Posting a phone number on a website which attracts ne'er-do-wells is extremely foolish, and policy allows us to remove such numbers from sight. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 18:58, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

Note: This page has been deleted multiple times as an abandoned draft article. As Articles for creation, the Draft space, and user subpages are not to be used to indefinitely host material inappropriate for the encyclopedia, what exactly would you do to help make the draft get accepted as an article? —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 18:59, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
  •   Done - as an Articles for creation submission deleted under CSD G13, the page has been restored on request. Please edit the page to address the issues raised when it was declined, and re-submit it; "Articles for creation" is not for the indefinite hosting of material found to be unsuitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. There was an edit to remove unsourced content, so you can have another chance to improve it. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 19:48, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

Miljenko Horvat

I previously tried to create this page, but as I have no expirience, and am also very limited with time, something went wrong and it seems page "Miljenko Horvat" was blocked or something. M. Horvat is a late husband of a good friend of mine who asked me to create a page about him. Miljenko Horvat was a member of a Gorgona avantgaarde group, Croat artist and architect that lived in Canada for most of his life. He died in 2012. Here you can see an article about him at the web page of Museum of contemporary art in Zagreb http://www.msu.hr/#/en/19672/ I have preapared text of Miljenko Horvat article now, but page is blocked from beeing created, since I am not a regular contributor and dont have much further interest in creating other articles in the future, how do You, dear Sir or Madam propose to handle this? -Mj gutamaya (talk) 10:44, 22 November 2015 (UTC)

Yasser Hareb

I, Badis1988, request the undeletion of this article for Advert for non notable individual. Lacks coverage in independent reliable sources. Mr. Yasser Hareb is a famous Author, Columnist, and TV presenter from the United Arab Emirates. This is not an advertising for him as he is already well known in the UAE and Middle East Region. He has many articles published weekly on newspapers from the UAE and Middle East region and he has also a tv show that aired on a yearly basis on channels from the UAE and Middle East region. I've provided the sources and his personal pages on the official newspapers and TV channels in the United Arab Emirates and the Middle East. jammes "Jamba" Castro

The sources on the page fulfilled all of wikipedia requirements. This was repeatedly conveyed to the administrator who refused to accept this. Historically the administrator showed little know-how of the entertainment field requiring at one point that the references be akin to "the beatles" wikipedia page. The fact is that there are many figures in the entertainment world which do not fulfill this criteria and are relevant to the exercise of the industry as a whole. I am kindly requesting that the administrator be admonished for bias in his judgement deeming only worthy of wikipedia the material that pertains to his particular sphere of influence and knowledge. Please restore the page as this figure is a major contributor in the entertainment industry. -Jsousa 21:48, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

Not done. Jammes "Jamba" Castro was deleted after this deletion discussion. You will need to take this to Wikipedia:Deletion review if you wish the decision to be reconsidered. Nthep (talk) 22:06, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

  •   Not done This was deleted twice, one as a an WP:A7 (notability) and once as a WP:G11 (copyright). A look at the first version of the article shows that you had cut/pasted content from science and likely from other places as well. This is considered to be copyright of a sort, since you were copying without attribution. However even without that, it looks like you were trying to use Wikipedia as a bit of a webhost or social media site to write about things that interested you. This is WP:NOT what Wikipedia is for, as it's neither a webhost or a social media site. Even if your intention was to write about yourself, you need to understand that it's highly discouraged for people to write their own autobiography and all people must pass notability guidelines to have an article on Wikipedia. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 07:25, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
  • I do have to warn you as well: if you continue to cut/paste content like that then you run the risk of getting blocked from editing, possibly permanently. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 07:26, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
