Or All-Red Route, I'm not sure if it's hyphenated or not. This was atag used in reference to an all-British route around the world: via Gibraltar-Suez-Aden-India-Malacca-HK-Vancouver-Montreal-London or alternately via the Cape of Good Hope. it features in CP Steamships/CP Railway tourism promotions, and Ithink in Cook's and in P&O's...something of an imperial slogan. I don't have the resources to wriet/cite it properly, just observing that it's "out there" as an Empire-related topic in need of an article. Basic cites I can piont to for Vancouver being a key connection are in alan Morley's Vancouver: MFrom Milltown to Metropolis and J.S. Matthews' Early Vancouver; als oin Peter MacDonald's Historical Atlas of Vancouver (Historical Geography of Vancouver?).Skookum1 (talk) 20:07, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
- I have a BBC/Time-Life Magazine thing (The British Empire) here with an issue devoted entirely to The "All-Red Routes"; with the hyphen. Covers Steamships, Telegraph Cables, and Flying Boats. If I get some time I'll try and get an article up soonish. Commander Zulu (talk) 08:12, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

I don't believe that would be practical. The Commonwealth has member states that weren't part of the Empire and vice-versa. In addition they functioned in entirely different ways.--Ykraps (talk) 06:57, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

File:Anachronous map of the British Empire.png
It says on the map of File:Anachronous map of the British Empire.png that the Thirteen Colonies of America is a dependecy of Britain. This is wrong because Britain lost their North American territories befngore Australia and NZ was colonised. This needs to be changed immediately. Vought109 (talk) 07:29, 3 January 2012 (UTC)

Listen Up!
A lot of these comments haven't been responded to by WikiProject British Empire Members. This is because the Wikiproject is essentially 'dead.' It has also been inactive for a long time. It is time for this to change. I am interested in reviving this WikiProject. To do this I need dedicated users who are prepared to put in the edits to revive the project. The topics of the greatest empire in history simply cannot be neglected. So I pledge for your help. Join the Wikiproject by adding your name to the list of participants. From there you can help by creating new articles within the scope of the British Empire, and adding articles that need to be created on the To-Do page. Vought109 (talk) 11:01, 3 January 2012 (UTC)
All I ask is that users be registered, and are familiar with Wikipedia's various policies and guidelines.
Remember, the main aims of the Wikiproject are:
- To provide guidelines and recommendations for articles that describe all aspects of the British Empire.
- To improve Wikipedia's coverage of the British Empire by creating, expanding, and maintaining such articles.
- To serve as the central point of discussion for issues related to the British Empire on Wikipedia.
- To create a consistent look and style for each page within our scope.
- To fight vandalism on articles within our scope by patrolling recent changes.
All regular users and admins are most welcome to join. Vought109 (talk) 11:01, 3 January 2012 (UTC)

Is Imperial Gift of interests to this Project? The article is about the donation of hundreds of surplus RAF aircraft after the First World War to the Dominions; Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Canada and India. Flags of the British Empire
Hey there I was wondering if you could be so helpful and take under your wings a article known as Flags of the British Empire and make is a part of your project because the page is starting to look a half decent reference page but it needs a heck of a lot more attention to let the page is supposed to be a collection of all the former colonial flags that we used throughout the British Empire now there is a member of flags already featured on the article but it's not the whole collection some of the images of the flags are from other websites that have been uploaded to Wikipedia or Wikimedia Commons from other website and as a result are of very poor quality. I think it would be most useful to have a page where we could have all the former colonial flags the British Empire in one place but at the moment even in its present state it is not complete and it doesn't reflect this ambition but I believe with your help and tender loving care it can become the ultimate reference page. Thank you. (90.197.194.14 (talk) 22:43, 26 December 2013 (UTC))

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal
Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
WikiProject X is live!
Hello everyone!
You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!
Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

@Cameron: @MichiganCharms: @Rrius: @Commander Zulu:@Adamblack93: @Teb00007: Hello, I am rather new to Wikipedia and have been working on expanding and correcting articles related to the military of the British Empire and Commonwealth particularly as it pertains to the Second World War. I request your individual and joint support to protect an article concerning the British Commonwealth - Military history of the British Commonwealth in the Second World War. I wrote this article in an effort to expand and improve upon an older highly unsatisfactory article that had been languishing for some years -British Empire in World War II. The latter was partial, incomplete and highly biased as regards terminology, scope, tone, etc.... The former is a substantive contribution to the topic, and much needed within Wikipedia, as a reference resource on the topic. Currently the article is under threat. Various editors are challenging the use of British English, and the substantive value of the content. I sense a very strong non-neutral POV and I could really use the guidance, review and input from members of Wikipedia:WikiProject British Empire to help protect this new article. Could one of you, or anyone in the community please assist at Talk:Military history of the British Commonwealth in the Second World War Robert Brukner (talk) 01:54, 8 July 2016 (UTC)

Organization
More attention to the organization of the Empire would be helpful, I think. Notably, it is very rarely made clear which branch of the British government had jurisdiction over which colonies. My understanding is that, originally, only formal "colonies" were under the colonial office, while "protectorates" were under the foreign office, but that this changed at some point, and at least some of the protectorates came under colonial office jurisdiction. (India, of course, being completely separate under the India Office for both British India and the princely states). This would be useful to set down in more detail. Some sort of list article, describing the organization of the Empire in the late nineteenth and/or early twentieth centuries would also be useful in this regard. john k (talk) 17:41, 12 September 2016 (UTC)

File:Superpower_map_1945.png - Is the british empire correctly shown?
There's discussion over at File talk:Superpower map 1945.png#Dominions that dates to 2011/2012 that wasn't answered. And recently that controversy appeared over at Talk:Superpower#British Empire in Teal. Does the map accurately show the British empire as of 1945?
