Peer Remarks 1

edit

Hi, After reading your article, you approach the subject with educational models. I guess what you can do now is to find more different perspectives on the subject. Some headers that you can make. it could be History, Social Impact, pros and cons, what is the vision or current project reguarding video games in Education. Good luck finding sources and articles/studies. Ktlin91 (talk) 06:56, 28 October 2011 (UTC)Ktlin91Reply

Peer Remarks 2

edit

Hello, I hope my comments and questions can be of use to you, well hopefully. No need to worry though, we're all in the same boat and we understand your article is in continuous working progress just like mines and everyone else in this course. Having said this, here is my feedback. First I made some changes. I changed "now" to "not", "solve and problems" to "solve problems", and "the a" to "the teacher". You had just some minor typos. Good into overall. I think the part where it says, "video games can also be used as an alternate to a classroom setting, while still maintaining levels of difficulty that foster learning in a gamer," could be thought out more. How can this be so, for instance. Explain further throughout your article. My only real question is: why/how would "video game education" really be more effective then our present day educational system? I would suggest you give an present day example of a educational video game that may have affective attributes and then pin point that out as well as their various settings and different levels you mentioned in your article as well. Overall, good clear read. I would suggest more hard core facts to further emphasize your points like the Air Force training you gave. Back that and everything else up with factual reliable references. -Joujoute — Preceding unsigned comment added by Joujoute (talkcontribs) 01:23, 7 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Something you may want to include....Can video games have a negative impact on education? (Scriptgeek (talk) 14:23, 9 November 2011 (UTC))Reply

Merger proposal

edit

The Educational video game article is rather short, and seems to describe an obvious subset of "video games in education". Is it worth merging it here as a new section? McGeddon (talk) 13:03, 14 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

I disagree, I think educational video games and video games in education should be separate but complementary entries. Educational video games can deal with this actual genre of games and the corresponding game design aspects while video games in education can take on the use of video games (educational or not) in educational settings. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 160.39.76.107 (talk) 19:20, 24 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

I agree. Both are rather short. 66.41.138.150 (talk) 03:27, 29 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

A lot has changed in these articles sinve this was last discussed over 3 years ago. Given that, the comments by 66.41.138.150 no longer hold (although they were true at the time); therefore, as no consensus (and opinions against), I'll removed the merge tags. These two subjects are different and, hence, could have their own respective pages. On the other hand, they can still be merged with the "Video games in education" as the main article. The subject Educational video games can be integrated into the existing "Using video games in the classroom" section or under a new heading named Examples or Classifications, which would detail the different types of video games used in learning.
