Despite being a civil administrator, Hofer believed the South Tyrolean police regiments to be under his command, as the local Schutzstaffel commander in the OZAW, [[Karl Brunner (SS general)|Karl Brunner]], was in his [[chain of command]]. Hofer used this as a pretext to claim that deployment of Tyrolean police units outside the OZAW should require his approval.{{sfn|Baratter|2005|p=191}}
Dante
editIn 1306–07, Dante was a guest of Moroello Malaspina in the region of Lunigiana.[1]
Dante's final days were spent in Ravenna,[1] where he had been invited to stay in the city in 1318 by its prince, Guido II da Polenta.[2] Dante died in Ravenna in 1321, aged 56, of quartan malaria. He was attended by his three children, and possibly by Gemma Donati, and by friends and admirers he had in the city.[3]
