Little Chef
Hi, you have added a {{pov}} tag to the article but have not explained the nature of the problem that you thve identified with the article. When adding tags, such as this, you need to explain what the problem is so that other editors can see exactly where the problem is and address it. Without an explanation of the problem the tag should be removed. Thanks. Keith D (talk) 21:43, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
- The reason I tagged the article was due to previous comments on the talk page, about the article being biased against Little Chef. I am currently trying to get it assesed by WikiProject Food and Drink, and hopefully they will also consider the potential POV problem. I'll leave a note on the talk page explaining my reason. Thanks, Acather96 (talk) 06:16, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

He in fact IS the worst, and you, as a teenager from the UK, will surely approve of the Daily Mail. Also, under your Rollback Success Section, you wrote "Thank you so much kind admin who's name I cannot remember" the correct word you're looking for is "whose," not "who's." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.68.16.155 (talk) 13:49, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
- Hey, and welcome to Wikipedia. No, you're right, I assumed that you had simply added hate content. Please feel free to re-add the content with the reference given. Also, remember to adhere to WP:CIVIL, don't be so patronizing. And thanks for the grammar fix :) Acather96 (talk) 13:52, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
With all due respect, Acather96, I don't know why you ask me not to be so patronizing. I gave you what you requested, a reliable source, and to prove that my reference is reliable, I simply spit back what you wrote on your own personal page; you're a teenager from the UK, and given that, I'm more than positive that you're aware of the validity of the Daily Mail. Please adhere to WP:CIVIL, and don't be so patronizing. And you're welcome for the grammar fix :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.68.16.155 (talk) 14:05, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
- "as a teenager from the UK, will surely approve of the Daily Mail" Maybe you meant it to mean something more civil (and if you did I apologise), this could be (and was) interpreted as a bit of a sterotypical and mildly insilting comment: what does one's age or country of origin have to do with reading preferences? And with regards to the validity of sources, please see WP:SOURCES if you are ever in need of assistance. Lastly, please remember to sign your posts by typing four tidles (~~~~) Thanks, Acather96 (talk)
I mean no stereotypical insults to you or to anyone from the UK. What I'm saying is that you, a human being of teenage from the United Kingdom, would at least hear of the Daily Mail, since it is published in/about/from the United Kingdom. You don't have to prefer reading the Daily Mail. All I'm saying here is that the Daily Mail follows the guideline provided by the Wikipedia as a valid source, and I know I didn't have to explain that since you and the publishing of the Daily Mail are of the same nation. I mean absolutely no insult to you. Again, thanks for your help and corrections. 99.68.16.155 (talk) 14:31, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
- OK, thanks. I guess it is not present in California, but in the UK there is quite a big stereotype :) I am glad we could sort this put civilly, apologies if I did not assume good faith , and thanks for contributing to Wikipedia! Acather96 (talk) 14:38, 12 June 2010 (UTC)

Rock-It-Ball neutrality
Hi. I hope I can help throw some light on this. I'm PMHildreth and yes, I am *one* of the founding fathers of Rock-It-Ball, and yes I have edited the Rock-It-Ball page. I didn't start the Rock-It-Ball page on Wikipedia. I don't know who it was who did that - however, when I found someone had done the Rock-It-Ball page I added some bits in to complete the picture. Later on I saw that a number of issues had been flagged up (external references required, it needed to be wikified etc.) In particular I noticed that it asked for contribution from an expert on the subject. As the sport had grown, had administrative bodies etc and I had been involved from the early days and have maintained the archives I consider myself an expert in this field so I redrafted the whole thing. I looked at other pages and took great care (a) to structure it correctly (b) to be neutral and accurate in what I wrote (c) to provide external links and references (d) to not make any exagerated claims (it's not commercial or an advertisement - I wanted to help develop a clear factual entry about the sport).
The page suffered from vandalism at one point from someone who seemed to have a personal grudge against two of the players mentioned. That got sorted and I'm grateful to Wikipedia for the help we received.
Since then it seems to have come under attack from user bucktrout - to start with he inserted the 'controversy' section. The sport has not been accused. The controversy involves 4 individuals. I've looked on Football pages - there is no mention of Harry Redknapp's legal problems nor Frank Ribery's being accused of sex with an under-age girl. Details of Harry Redknapp's legal issues are on the Harry Redknapp page. On the tennis page I didn't see anything about the accusations against a young England tennis star. So I would question why bucktrout would put issues about individuals on the page about the sport? I didn't remove it however, I simply corrected an inaccuracy. Now there is the non-impartiality accusation by the same user. He claims that the page focuses on the size of the sport which is untrue - this is covered in one small introductory section. He also states that it focuses on the sports records which are not verifiable - all of the records are verifiable and accurate. I can only repeat, I redrafted the whole page because of Wikipedia's request for expert input and to meet Wikipedia's other requests and I made every effort to be accurate. I guess I could have created myself another account to hide my identity which would have prevented bucktrout from making the accusations - but I'm just not like that. I honestly thought if I just stated the facts as they are there wouldn't be a problem.
I hope this helps you. 85.211.72.25 (talk) 10:36, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
- First of all, thank you very much for your extremley detailed reply, it is nice to see a user get this involved when, really, they have nothing to gain. Regarding the vandalism and/or edit wars, it may be useful taking any concerns you have to dispute resolution. I can see your point regarding the controvesy section, though once again, I think dispute resolution could help you get some results. Thanks once again, Acather96 (talk) 07:17, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
- Hi. Thanks for your reply. As regards the vandalism - that was sorted out. I haven't tackled the issue of bucktrout's contribution to the page. That's for another time. My concern in my reply really was to address the neutrality issue - I acknowledge that I am one of the founding fathers of the sport but felt it was OK for me to edit the page as expert contribution was actively being solicited and I didn't write anything that was inaccurate or exagerated. I am delighted when others make contributions to the edit, (that's the idea of Wikipedia, of course) as long as there doesn't appear to be a negative motivation. I hope I have allayed any concerns about neutrality. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.211.72.25 (talk) 17:30, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

I've been on Wikia wikis for a while and there image uploading is easy and dynamic. Here however, I have no clue how to upload images. Could you please explain to me how? - At the moment, you can't. To upload images, you need to be autoconfirmed. You could just wait for this to happen, or you could:
- Request that you become confirmed now. To do this, please click here. Or:
- Or, submit a request for upload here.
Either way, thanks for contributing to Wikipedia, and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. Thanks,Acather96 (talk) 18:00, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

SCV
Hi Acather96. Thank you for your work at WP:SCV. It's really appreciated. :) I notice that you often note that you have tagged an article for speedy deletion. I think it's best not to do that since it clutters up the page and makes it difficult to read. Once the link turns red we'll know that it has been deleted anyway. :) Cheers, Theleftorium (talk) 09:27, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
- Also, if you notice a close paraphrase, you should most often use Template:copyvio instead of Template:close paraphrasing. Just don't forget to notify the author. Thanks! Theleftorium (talk) 09:32, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
- Hello,
- I've been working at SCV for about two months now, and to be honest, nobody seems to have minded before at my SD notes. The only reason I do it is so that people don't waste there time looking at listings that have already been listed. Though I can see your point, it may sometimes look a little cluttered. And, according to your RFA, quite experienced at SCV so I'm not going to argue with you :) Thanks also for the paraphrase advice, I didn't know that. And forgetting to notify the contributor was also a stupid mistake of mine, I'm sorry :) Thanks, Acather96 (talk) 09:49, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
- Hmm, I didn't think of that. Makes sense actually. Nevermind me. :) Theleftorium (talk) 09:59, 23 June 2010 (UTC)

BP Talk page refactoring
There was some misunderstanding about the refactoring. I was moving my own comments not another editor's. I wasn't logged in. 69.142.154.10 (talk) 20:20, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

- I didn't realize it would look like I'd moved someone else's comments. I used to be an i.p. only user, then I got an account, and sometimes I switch back and forth between them (not for nefarious purposes, mainly for convencience or because I forgot). I see that I can edit article text that way, but not comment text, since it looks like refactoring someone else's comments. Thanks.69.142.154.10 (talk) 21:23, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi User:Acather96,
I beleieve that this article has now been cleaned up to remove the issues with copyright. I removed the close paraphrasing tag from the page as I think that the edits by User:Rockpocket deal with it. I hope that is OK. Let me know if you still think the page is problematical. Thanks for your help. Alexbateman (talk) 10:35, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, that's fine now. Thanks,Acather96 (talk) 15:18, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
Hi. I appreciate your continued copyright work. :) I did want to let you know, though, that we don't remove the tag when OTRS is pending; we remove it when OTRS is confirmed. There are many occasions when the OTRS pending tag is added that the permission process does not complete. This one will, I suspect, but there are problems with it that need to be resolved. We can create big issues, though, if we restore the text and the letter doesn't show up: the longer the content is illegally displayed on our website, the more widely mirrored it is likely to be and the more the damages to the copyright owner. :/ --Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:28, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for your help, I didn't know about that and will remeber it for the future. Thanks,Acather96 (talk) 18:55, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
- No problem. :) As I said, I appreciate your continued copyright work. These are just the kinds of things you learned after doing it for a while. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:59, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
- Me again, with another tip. Sometimes if you seem to have a false positive it's because content is actually on a subpage. You might look into "About" or "History" tabs on a website. You can also sometimes run a google search for text to see the match: [1]. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:23, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

- Yes, I would be more than happy to give you some advice. First of all the article subject is good, and there are all ready similar articles about gambling indifferent countries. In fact, if you type 'Gambling in' into the search box, you will see what I mean :). So your article doesn't get deleted, I wouldn't go live first, but would instead use a userspace draft.I've created one for you, it can be found here. "No Limit Kids" page deleted for copyright?
Can you help.
Today, we created an article about our upcoming movie NO LIMIT KIDS, and used the Plot description from our movie story webpage. NoLimitKidsMovie.com The article was flagged, originally - we tried to correct it - but it's now been deleted all together. We own the Plot description from our movie story page, and have sent emails per instructions with no luck.
Any suggestions... We'd like this article active as soon as possible so I'm trying to follow the instructions to correct this, giving permission to donate and/or use our text on the No Limit Page we've created. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lrcee (talk • contribs) 20:27, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Patience is good. Emails are handled by volunteers, so they aren't always received immediately. I have verified the permission and made the appropriate notes on the article, so there should be no remaining copyright issues. Cheers. VernoWhitney (talk) 20:40, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

FIR-TEX
Dear Acather96, First of all thank you for your help until now. As expected the article about FIR-TEX has not been approved (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/FIR-TEX) for reasons that the reference material according to the reviewer is not from external parties. I do not understand where he get this from as most of the material in the references is not from us but from external organisations such as Dutch olympic Committee, Dutch Handbal Federation Physiotherapits, an independat athlete, external newspapers... Can i once more ask your help on what to do now. Thank you Flying Dutchman 15:16, 10 July 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dicky747 (talk • contribs)

Speedy deletion declined: Argentine Criollo
Hello Acather96. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Argentine Criollo, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Two sentences is hardly blatant. I will watch list. Thank you. GedUK 07:36, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
- OK, fair enough. I guess I was a little over-zealous with the tagging. Thanks,Acather96 (talk) 16:24, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
Copyright process
Just so you know, you don't have to list newly blanked pages at WP:CP if they're already listed on one of the WP:SCV daily pages since SCV is already transcluded there. VernoWhitney (talk) 18:47, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks, I think you have already told me that and I apologise. Acather96 (talk) 18:48, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
- No worries, it all comes out in the end. And since I don't think I've told you lately, I really do appreciate the work you do at SCV so I'm not still doing all of it on my own. Cheers! VernoWhitney (talk) 18:51, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the thanks. And what do you think of my new userpage?Acather96 (talk) 20:30, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

Thank you
You were so kind to write and so very polite. You are right! I am trying to write my own bio. Should I just give up? I was told it was a good idea by other writers. I thought if I just listed my education and publications as well as the focus of my work that would be neutral enough, ie, not a conflict of interest article. But if so, I will cease and desist. However, I would love help editing articles. IF you have time. The first one is on Anne Bradstreet. The editors have posted a portrait, saying that it is a portrait of Bradstreet. It is not. And, they also have a few erroneous points. Otherwise, it is impressive! Thanks so so much, Chagor62 (talk) 20:56, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

Well blow me down! I have been editing on wiki since February 2007, and noone has ever given me a barnstar before! Thank you very much it actually means quite a lot! By the way I have finished the redlinks on List of places in Bedfordshire, there should be an article now for every place in Bedfordshire (bar a few very obscure and possibly obsolete hamlets). Bleaney (talk) 22:47, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
- Well you completley deserve it :) You've made tons of article's, and have added allot to the project. I am going to 'launch' WP:BEDS when I write the new members guide. The last job I have to do is prioritise articles , (you can also see a useful table in the Assesment subpage (here. If you ever have some free time and wouldn't mind giving me a hand, then that would be fantastic! Thanks,Acather96 (talk) 07:38, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

Fine point of copyright
Hi. :) I continue to note and appreciate your good work in copyright cleanup. I say that because I don't want to give you the wrong impression, since I'm mostly like to drop by when I see something that needs clarification. :D I don't want you to think that I'm only here to criticize!
In this particular case, I've just cleared the article Colorado v. Bannister. Certainly no doubt there's copying there, but in this case we're okay, as U.S. copyright law says that court decisions (in any country) are not copyrighted. See Wikipedia:Public domain. This one can be tricky, because not all court documents are covered, but judgments are. And this is particularly the case with the Supreme Court, because it's a federal agency, and works of federal U.S. employees are copyright free in the U.S.
I figured I'd better point this out to you, since you may encounter such situations again in SCV. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:48, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks once again for your invaluable help. As I am in the UK, I was completley unaware of this :) Acather96 (talk) 07:32, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
Sonia escolano copyright
Hello. I am the owner of http://www.mynahasgone.com and all its content therefore I think that this article in wikipedia is not a copyright violation.
However, I've written a new article without infringing material, in the following temporary subpage: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Magina3/Sonia_Escolano/Temp Please, I wish this issue can be cleaning soon. George Weinstock and Timothy Ley
Hi Acather96, Regarding the George Weinstock, Timothy Ley and Elaine Mardis articles, this is my own work that I have submitted to Wikipedia. I have emailed the appropriate party to request WP:CONSENT. Please hold off on deleting. Thanks, gremerow --Gremerow (talk) 21:28, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
- OK, noted. You need to put a short message on the talk page of both articles describing this. They are still going through AFD anyway, but good luck! Elaine Mardis has already been deleted, if you want to try again your best bet would be going to WP:RFUD,which deals with requests for undeletion. Thanks,Acather96 (talk) 07:26, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

False positives
Hi. :) I just wanted to remind you that an SCV listing is only a false positive if there is no text duplication at all. If there is duplication, but the text is free for reuse, it's an {{subst:SCV|n}}
. That's true even if it's an attributed split. It's important not to label content as "false positives" when duplication does exist as it may on review give a misleading impression of the accuracy of Corensearchbot. You may not have tagged anything with false lately; I'm about a week behind you guys at WP:CP, but I've noticed a few things in the last couple of days, and I just came upon one at Wikipedia:Suspected copyright violations/2010-07-16, which I'm working on now. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:45, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
- Me again. :) Why did you mark [2], taken from [3], as "Material PD or appropriately licensed for use."? I'd like to see if I can follow your reasoning there. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:55, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
- Hi, I'm not sure if you missed this note, but I figured I'd try to draw your attention to it, since you've been actively editing. I'm wondering why you concluded that material was appropriately licensed or PD. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:52, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
Hi, sorry for the late reply. Thanks for the note on false positives? With regards to Angela Myles Beeching, I don't know. Obviously there is no way this could be PD or licensed under the Creative Commons, and I can only apologise. Luckily, it's already been deleted, so there is no problem with that now. Anyway, once again, thanks and sorry :) Acather96 (talk) 06:49, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- No problem; I wasn't looking for an apology. :) I just figured if you were working under a misimpression about copyright status of something there, we probably needed to work it out. There are a lot of rules to juggle in copyright work, I know, as I've been doing this full time for a good two years on Wikipedia now. Mistakes happen, but misunderstandings need sorting. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:32, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- Just tucking this in here to avoid inadvertently fanning flames: nice note. :) I like the way you talk to people. Kudos. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 01:41, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

Files For Upload
Hello, and thanks for helping us out at Files for upload. I just wanted to let you know that when you accept a request, like you did here, you should always substitute the {{ffu a}} template. Otherwise, the section doesn't get automatically archived. Additionally, you should use {{ffu}} to indicate that the file has been uploaded, as well as what name it is under, and use {{ffu talk}} to notify the requester on his/her user page. This process is explained in detail at the Reviewer instructions. Again, I appreciate that you want to help out at Files for upload, as we need all the reviewers we can get. If you have any questions, please just reply to this message. Thanks, Robert Skyhawk (T C B) 16:38, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

OMG we can't publish CC-BY-SA images
Re: "file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content" RTFA!!!. Ojw (talk) 21:27, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
- With all respect, if you have a problem with one of my onwiki actions, that's fine by me, but please at least talk about it with me coherently and sensibly. Of course we can use CC-BY-SA images, as long as they're tagged correctly. With the source, you need to state it clearly (along with the tags). I assume that you're talking about this. I removed the non free screenshot tag, because it does state that it does not include media found on a webpage. I described this clearly in my edit summary. So at the moment, there is no clear information about the file's copyright licensce or a clear source, so this is why it is up for deletion. Also, if you are telling me to 'Read the F****** Archives', I assume you mean the file history, which doesnt explicitly state who made it or the source. If I am missing something, please tell me.Thanks,Acather96 (talk) 06:07, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) My guess is that they source is Geograph Britain and Ireland, but that still doesn't answer the copyright issue, and the site's terms seem to indicate it's copyrighted and not freely licensed, so it could probably be tagged with a generic {{Non-free fair use in}}. That said, however, It may not pass WP:NFCC#8 since it's not discussed outside of the short caption, and there's already the other screenshot directly above it in the article to demonstrate what the map looks like. Since it's still early for me I would take that to WP:NFCR if you want more (coherent) feedback on that point. VernoWhitney (talk) 11:58, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

RFPP Clerkship Discussion
I was startled to see an Endorse Protection Template at RFPP. I've been working on a proposal that is very much related, so I was initially chagrined to find that the function was already in place. Then I checked the talk page, and see that this is a very recent creation.
I mentioned your addition in my very, very draft proposal here. In fact, you are the first person I've notified.
You obviously have interest and knowledge of RFPP, so I hope you will contribute your thoughts.--SPhilbrickT 00:45, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
- Hi Sphilbrick, and first of all thank you for letting me know about your proposal. I think it would be a good idea to have RFPP clerks, as the noticeboard is freqently backlogged, and it would be helpful for patrolling admins to have the clerks to review cases. I will add my ideas and thoughts to the talkpage shortly, and thanks again for informing me of this proposal. Acather96 (talk) 13:51, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks, I just added a section with you in mind (thinking is it is a good idea, you might be able to make such a template easily.)--SPhilbrickT 15:13, 14 August 2010 (UTC)

- In response to your message which pretty well coincided with one of my edits to Fir Tex, I regret that the edits don't change my opinion. It is a product hyped by its manufacturer as something special with technological innovations. None of these claims have been substantiated. No patents are alluded to. The processes claimed have no known provenance in science. Their own references from their own web-site would be laughable if they weren't meant to be serious. I suspect that it is a fairly ordinary fabric with a reflective layer that keeps in warmth. Well, there are probably hundreds of such fabrics around - have a look in an quality mountaineering clothing shop. I don't believe this article has notability, its claims have no scientific backing and they can't be verified, worse the manufacturers allude to scientific backing when none exists. If it is neither notable and cannot be verified than I guess it must be just an advertisment This smells badly of snake-oil and it would need the manufacturers to come up with some proper scientific evaluation or some credible statements before I would change my mind. Sorry. Velella Velella Talk 20:56, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
