Hey, AB (or any TPS) -- a little input? I started this because I was fascinated by the idea of dusties, and there's plenty of sources. As I wrote it I couldn't quite figure out how to organize, which always makes me wonder if I'm approaching from the wrong direction. And even if I'm not approaching it the wrong way, I wasn't sure it should be moved to article space under that title...Vintage Liquor Collecting, maybe? I believe it's a thing, I believe it's a notable thing, but I'm just not thinking I'm getting it right. Valereee (talk) 20:48, 3 July 2023 (UTC)

The third round of the 2023 WikiCup has come to an end. The 16 users who made it to the fourth round had at least 175 points. Our top scorers in round 3 were:
Contestants achieved 11 featured articles, 2 featured lists, 47 good articles, 72 featured or good article reviews, over 100 DYKs and 40 ITN appearances. As always, any content promoted after the end of round 3 but before the start of round 4 can be claimed in round 4. Please also remember that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them. When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met. Please also remember that all submissions must meet core Wikipedia policies, regardless of the review process. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Sturmvogel 66 (talk) and Cwmhiraeth (talk). Then, I saw it had been categorised as a Michelin starred restaurant, so I have removed the CSD notice and added said claim of significance. The same is true of Faro (restaurant), minus the CSD tagging. I hope you find this a more useful outcome. Osarius 14:16, 16 August 2023 (UTC)

- I could do that! I have done that for other WikiProjects. But got a lot on my plate for the next few days. Attending Wikimania online for about four hours in the evening & also doing my day job. Peaceray (talk) 04:20, 17 August 2023 (UTC)

Adminship, again
Hi Another Believer, based on looking through your talk page archives I'm the latest in a very long line to ask this question; why aren't you an admin yet? With a record as long as yours I really don't think an RFA would be very controversial, and there are useful things you could do with the tools that aren't very different from what you already do. Vanamonde (Talk) 16:13, 21 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Vanamonde93 Thanks! You're right, I've been asked to apply for adminship many times over the years, both on- and off-wiki. While I think the tools would be helpful (and I'd like to think I'd get community support), I am not a fan of the RfA process and I fear editing as an admin might make Wikipedia feel more like a job than a hobby. Also, I'm harassed and hounded way too much already, and I think being an admin would just make things worse. I appreciate your kind words, though! Thanks again and happy editing. ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:24, 21 August 2023 (UTC)
- I can understand that; given our admin shortage I hope you'll reconsider, but I won't press you. Let me know if you do ever change your mind. Vanamonde (Talk) 16:43, 21 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Vanamonde93 Will do! Much appreciated. ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:51, 21 August 2023 (UTC)

- (talk page stalker) I came across another editor's essay concerning my own RfA and it made me feel morose all over again. I would not recommend the process to anyone with a substantial track history. Only for the ppl who have kept a squeaky clean, non-controversial history of 80% vanilla article creation and 20% admin-ish background tasks, while planning for a future RfA. If you're seen as having strong views on any wiki-process (inclusionism in two or three topic areas, in AB's case), you are a potential AfD lightning rod. ☆ Bri (talk) 17:27, 21 August 2023 (UTC)
- Exactly. It'd just be fodder for the trolls, unfortunately. ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:37, 21 August 2023 (UTC)
- I would respectfully disagree. Overly strong views about COI editing and about keeping restaurants in Oregon are not, I believe, in the same ballpark for the opposition they would generate: though I would have a care as to who you describe as a troll. Vanamonde (Talk) 17:42, 21 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Vanamonde93: Pick your poison! There are the editors who follow me around and check every single page I create. Others who like to tag, PROD, and AfD one article after the next. Those who go to AfD just to vote delete and make article rescue more difficult. Others who email me threats because I work on LGBT-related content. Those who think I'm paid for every edit I make to Wikipedia because they've been lied to by a now-blocked sockmaster. Those who don't like my edits related to Trump, or the fact that I started the January 6 U.S. Capitol attack entry. I can keep going... ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:58, 21 August 2023 (UTC)
- I recognize that, and I don't mean to trivialize it. I've worked for ten years on South Asian politics, believe me, I understand what nasty harassment can be like. My point is that RFA, more than most processes on Wikipedia, is a referendum among editors in good standing, and trolls have much less of a say as to the eventual outcome. I'm not endorsing or rejecting the issues brought up during Bri's candidacy, but those were substantively more central to suitability for adminship, and were mentioned by many admins and functionaries in their opposition. That said, I did just see that you've had 400+ mainspace creations deleted; even discounting some G7s, you may be right that this could generate substantial opposition, and it would certainly be something you would need to address. So I won't press you further; I just wanted to note that activity which pisses of genuine trolls isn't necessarily fatal or even a bad thing at RFA. Vanamonde (Talk) 18:09, 21 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Vanamonde93 Understood. I appreciate your additional feedback, but I won't be taking the plunge soon. Wow, 400 mainspace creation deletions sounds remarkably low to me!, given the tens of thousands of pages I've created. I create redirects all the time for subjects like songs, albums, TV episodes, fictional characters, etc. I imagine these sorts of edits would explain the hundreds of deletions, but I'm not concerned about that at all. Anyways, happy editing! ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:16, 21 August 2023 (UTC)

What exactly is the holy trinity of barbecue?
(talk page stalker) I got curious about the question above, and not finding it on Wikipedia, found an answer in a German language book of all things [1]. Beef brisket, pulled pork, and spare ribs, apparently. Maybe this factoid should go somewhere? ☆ Bri (talk) 19:59, 31 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Bri: I think ideally there'd be a source verifying the business is named after the food industry phrase of the same name, no? That being said, if you feel the article would be improved by noting the industry phrase using a source which is not specific to the business, I'd invite you to update the entry as you see fit! (Side note, I've reviewed a few sources about the restaurant and I'm not finding one which explains the business name, though I do recall at one point learning about what "holy trinity" meant so perhaps verification is buried somewhere in one of the inline citations.) Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 20:06, 31 August 2023 (UTC)
- Will try to find the lost citation, when time permits. By "somewhere", I meant maybe Barbecue in the United States, not necessarily this article. ☆ Bri (talk) 20:09, 31 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Bri I see what you mean, I thought you were suggesting an update to the restaurant article, to help explain the business' name (which I am not opposed to). Happy editing! ---Another Believer (Talk) 20:10, 31 August 2023 (UTC)

It was named for the three core items Rensmeyer would always sell: smoky, spicy sausage; delicate, pink-hued ribs; and an incredible 14-hour smoked brisket.
— Eater, 2021-10-14
- Is this the source you were thinking of? ☆ Bri (talk) 20:13, 31 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Bri I think so, which is why I thought "holy trinity" was more of a personal/business decision than an industry concept. I have no problem with the changes you've made to the entry. Thanks for the feedback! ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:12, 31 August 2023 (UTC)
