Aama (film)
Hello, CAPTAIN MEDUSA. This is a courtesy notice that the copy edit you requested for Aama (film) at the Guild of Copy Editors requests page is now complete. All feedback welcome! Cheers, Baffle☿gab 23:25, 21 April 2019 (UTC) |
- I ran across the dodgy sentence in the first paragraph of 'Presentation"; "In the beginnings of Nepalese cinema there were no act in to watch production, distribution, and presentation of the Nepalese cinema." What does "no act in to watch production..." mean in this context? Is it meant to say 'no actors' in the sense of film actors, or perhaps actors meaning people who produce, distribute, etc? I'd check the given reference but the website wants me to use email, Facebook or Google. Removing the sentence seems preferable but I'd rather try to clarify it first. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 22:47, 21 April 2019 (UTC)
- I've since rewritten the sentence according to my interpretation that Nepal had no film distribution infrastructure at that time; feel free to correct it if necessary. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 06:42, 23 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Baffle gab1978: Yes Nepal did not have any film distribution infrastructure at that time. Also thanks for rewriting.___CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk 09:20, 23 April 2019 (UTC)
John S. Lucas
Thank you for your guidance. I added a few more resources (with their respective links). Is there a way to include a Wikipedia as a resource? Wikipedia's Katy Keene page has John S. Autopatrolled granted
Hi CAPTAIN MEDUSA, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the autopatrolled right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Beeblebrox (talk) 17:15, 24 April 2019 (UTC)
New page reviewer granted
Hi CAPTAIN MEDUSA. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers
" user group. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encylopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page. In addition, please remember:
- Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance. so that they are aware.
- You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
- If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
- Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.
The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. -- Amanda (aka DQ) 06:22, 23 April 2019 (UTC)
- Welcome to the team mate. If you haven't, please go check out the NPR Tutorial. In particular, check out the section on scripts, as there are quite a few there that help streamline the NPR workflow considerably. Cheers, — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here)(click me!) 19:27, 24 April 2019 (UTC)

I declined your G12 tag and cleaned up the article. He looks notable, it's just the prose given (which had more puffery than Puff Daddy wearing a puffer jacket and eating a bowl of Sugar Puffs while listening to Puff the Magic Dragon and reading a book on the Passive Underwater Fire Control Feasibility System) wasn't suitable for an article, so needed rewriting anyway. Two comments regarding this review: Firstly the baronet has been dead more than 200 years, as noted in the draft's first sentence; that's not a BLP. Secondly, sources for the content were given; they just weren't formatted properly (ie external links in the body of the article instead of footnotes). Huon (talk) 15:45, 30 April 2019 (UTC)

NPR Newsletter No.18
Hello CAPTAIN MEDUSA,
- WMF at work on NPP Improvements
Niharika Kohli, a product manager for the growth team, announced that work is underway in implementing improvements to New Page Patrol as part of the 2019 Community Wishlist and suggests all who are interested watch the project page on meta. Two requested improvements have already been completed. These are:
- Allow filtering by no citations in page curation
- Not having CSD and PRODs automatically marked as reviewed, reflecting current consensus among reviewers and current Twinkle functionality.
- Reliable Sources for NPP
Rosguill has been compiling a list of reliable sources across countries and industries that can be used by new page patrollers to help judge whether an article topic is notable or not. At this point further discussion is needed about if and how this list should be used. Please consider joining the discussion about how this potentially valuable resource should be developed and used.

Contested deletion
You have deleted a page "APYA", Unfortunately i am still learning the ropes on publishing an article to the wikipedia community, the page was developed with the intention of informing the community of the organisation, and its impacts on African descents. My intention is not to promote but to create an online presence for the organisation and educate the curious about its goals and objectives.
- @Jcrowe2018: Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia. Your article APYA failed WP:A7, WP:G11 which means your articles does not have reliable sources, does not show Notability. You may want to create a article in WP:FIRSTARTICLE. ___CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk 11:16, 28 May 2019 (UTC)
Malao Film Declination
Hi Captain Medusa, thanks for checking my article. I have a quick question: Why are these sources not reliable enough? The German version of it does already exist and it has even less sources/references than the English translation...
Thank you, Serge
- @Sergemateso: Welcome to Wikipedia. The sources are not reliable because all of the article sources are from movie databases, including IMDB which are not considered reliable sources see WP:IMDBREF. Please find sources from newspaper, books, news article etc.___CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk 14:42, 28 May 2019 (UTC)

Still the Best Loved game article rejection
Hello, I’m disappointed to see that my article on a book, Still the Best Loved Game?, has been rejected despite a source reference confirming its existence. The article is, in essence, no different from other articles on books that have been published (I can think of one that has no reference to its publication, only to awards it has won). I understand the need for standards, but there is also a need for consistency, which appears to be lacking. Perhaps you could advise me what is required for an article in a book beyond a reference confirming its existence? Regards, Neil Neilinabbey (talk) 19:47, 30 May 2019 (UTC)
- @Neilinabbey: Hello thanks for your contributions. The article Still the Best Loved Game? has only one source, which leads to books.google.com where there noting about the book maybe there is mistake on citation. Please find sources from newspaper, news articles etc. Most of the paragraphs on the article are unsourced, please add sources to the claims made in those paragraphs.___CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk 08:05, 31 May 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply. I'd still like to know, though, why this article requires more sources than other, similar articles? It seems there's an inconsistent approach here regarding the number of sources needed.Neilinabbey (talk) 08:25, 31 May 2019 (UTC)
- @Neilinabbey: Hello, this article requires more sources due to various claims made by you such as, "Still the Best Loved Game? was inspired by the 1979 book The Best Loved Game, by Geoffrey Moorhouse, and generally follows the same format. Some of the original book's chapters are echoed in the new book, such as those on Test cricket, a county versus a touring side, the Roses Match, a Lancashire League game and CCanterbury Cricket Week.". Those claims need to be verified by a reliable sources to confirm its accuracy. Thanks.___CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk 08:29, 31 May 2019 (UTC)

Request on 20:46:17, 5 June 2019 for assistance on AfC submission by AugustTip
I'm AugustTip. . I am trying to write about Gregg Jann of Jannda.com. I think like him when he states he has been a black listed speechmaker for US Presidents probably "Tear Down This Wall" speech fragment of Reagan, and for stating AIDS name and acronym first and originally as his A Jann Plan book was released World Aids Day 2014. Verifiable takes looking into his publisher, and his lawyer, and why the media would not publish important starts and parts of Gregg Jann's history except his many essays and editorials in local newspapers in 80s and 90s. How to verify a "Black list", or verify a reluctant media topic? Gregg Jann wants attention, but he has a duty to be known to the public as a former public official. He has authored non-fiction books, writes in mental health education and coaching, and we know Sacramento sleights or steals credit from genesis endeavoring. CA Prop 63 WAS in 2004 when it passed, and Gregg Jann is passed the daily newspapers in gaining his credit but the history of Wikipedia is the answer. Do you see what is important especially for Wikipedia the encyclopedia from this article on Gregg Jann, for he is authentic and original about history making.===AugustTip June 5, 2018

- Andonic • Consumed Crustacean • Enigmaman • Euryalus • EWS23 • HereToHelp • Nv8200pa • Peripitus • StringTheory11 • Vejvančický
- An RfC seeks to clarify whether WP:OUTING should include information on just the English Wikipedia or any Wikimedia project.
- An RfC on WT:RfA concluded that Requests for adminship and bureaucratship are discussions seeking to build consensus.
- An RfC proposal to make the templates for discussion (TfD) process more like the requested moves (RM) process, i.e. "as a clearinghouse of template discussions", was closed as successful.
- The CSD feature of Twinkle now allows admins to notify page creators of deletion if the page had not been tagged. The default behavior matches that of tagging notifications, and replaces the ability to open the user talk page upon deletion. You can customize which criteria receive notifications in your Twinkle preferences: look for Notify page creator when deleting under these criteria.
- Twinkle's d-batch (batch delete) feature now supports deleting subpages (and related redirects and talk pages) of each page. The pages will be listed first but use with caution! The und-batch (batch undelete) option can now also restore talk pages.
- The previously discussed unblocking of IP addresses indefinitely-blocked before 2009 was approved and has taken place.
- The 2019 talk pages consultation produced a report for Phase 1 and has entered Phase 2.

- When you create a PDF from a page on the wiki this is now done by Proton. Before this we used Electron. It should look the same but work better. Both use Chromium. This is a different system from when you collect several articles into a book and make a PDF from them. [29][30]

Merging the Bara-Parsa tornado articles
@CAPTAIN MEDUSA:, I saw that you placed merger tag on the article about the March 2019 southern Nepal tornado that I was working on. I have completed the merge and I also edited the resulting article extensively to make it stylistically consistent and to remove redundancies. But, I think the final article has more content from the source article than the destination one. So, I am not sure if I did it right. Maybe, I should have merged it the other way? I just liked the title better for specificity purpose but I am not sure anymore. I think I misread the discussion on the source talk page, also. Would you please look at what I've done and see if I've made some mistakes in the merger process? I was not sure if I was supposed to copy the discussions on the talk page from source to destination as well because it doesn't say anything like that on the "How to merge" guidelines, so I left it in the source talk page for now. Thanks! Usedtobecool TALK 19:55, 18 June 2019 (UTC)
- Usedtobecool, I am fine with the merge. merging these two articles made the article even better. I think heading needs to better, I liked the one in [38] 2019 Nepal tornado. ___CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk 20:17, 18 June 2019 (UTC)

My Name is Lennox Theodore Anderson and Sadly, this is the Only source that works. So on the Page General Juan Lopez, try finding other sources, try finding other ones. You could reply to me on why you declined it, and also explain how I could make this page better. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lennox Theodore Anderson (talk • contribs) 12:51, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
- Lennox Theodore Anderson, Hello your articles need more sources, please find sources from books, newspaper, and news articles. Also, consider expanding the article it consists of one sentence. ___CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk 12:57, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
Do you know any other sources of General Juan Lopez in Panama, because I know he was the first president of panama. If there is a source besides that found, tell me. - Lennox Theodore Anderson — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lennox Theodore Anderson (talk • contribs) 02:27, 27 June 2019 (UTC)

Charles Edwards
Hello Please can you advise me how to proceed if I am the subject of the Wikipedia page and I have attempted to make adjustments recently about myself that you have said are vandalism. Thanks Charles Edwards — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kingsleyowen2012 (talk • contribs) 09:15, 27 June 2019 (UTC)

New Page Review newsletter July-August 2019
Hello CAPTAIN MEDUSA,
- WMF at work on NPP Improvements
More new features are being added to the feed, including the important red alert for previously deleted pages. This will only work if it is selected in your filters. Best is to 'select all'. Do take a moment to check out all the new features if you have not already done so. If anything is not working as it should, please let us know at NPR. There is now also a live queue of AfC submissions in the New Pages Feed. Feel free to review AfCs, but bear in mind that NPP is an official process and policy and is more important.
- QUALITY of REVIEWING
Articles are still not always being checked thoroughly enough. If you are not sure what to do, leave the article for a more experienced reviewer. Please be on the alert for any incongruities in patrolling and help your colleagues where possible; report patrollers and autopatrolled article creators who are ostensibly undeclared paid editors. The displayed ORES alerts offer a greater 'at-a-glance' overview, but the new challenges in detecting unwanted new content and sub-standard reviewing do not necessarily make patrolling any easier, nevertheless the work may have a renewed interest factor of a different kind. A vibrant community of reviewers is always ready to help at NPR.
- Backlog
The backlog is still far too high at between 7,000 and 8,000. Of around 700 user rights holders, 80% of the reviewing is being done by just TWO users. In the light of more and more subtle advertising and undeclared paid editing, New Page Reviewing is becoming more critical than ever.
- Move to draft
NPR is triage, it is not a clean up clinic. This move feature is not limited to bios so you may have to slightly re-edit the text in the template before you save the move. Anything that is not fit for mainspace but which might have some promise can be draftified - particularly very poor English and machine and other low quality translations.
- Notifying users
Remember to use the message feature if you are just tagging an article for maintenance rather than deletion. Otherwise articles are likely to remain perma-tagged. Many creators are SPA and have no intention of returning to Wikipedia. Use the feature too for leaving a friendly note note for the author of a first article you found well made or interesting. Many have told us they find such comments particularly welcoming and encouraging.
- PERM
Admins are now taking advantage of the new time-limited user rights feature. If you have recently been accorded NPR, do check your user rights to see if this affects you. Depending on your user account preferences, you may receive automated notifications of your rights changes. Requests for permissions are not mini-RfAs. Helpful comments are welcome if absolutely necessary, but the bot does a lot of the work and the final decision is reserved for admins who do thorough research anyway.
- Other news
School and academic holidays will begin soon in various places around the Western world. Be on the lookout for the usual increase in hoax, attack, and other junk pages.
Our next newsletter might be announcing details of a possible election for co-ordinators of NPR. If you think you have what it takes to micro manage NPR, take a look at New Page Review Coordinators - it's a job that requires a lot of time and dedication.

- After an MfD, DannyS712's MMS was deleted. It was originally created by Abelmoschus Esculentus. If you import either of these scripts, you may want to uninstall them, as they no longer exist.
Having published 6 issues of this newsletter, I decided it was time to move it out from my user space. It is now located at Wikipedia:Scripts++. Thanks, --DannyS712 (talk) 11:45, 30 June 2019 (UTC)
Re: Speedy deletion nomination of Church of Beata Vergine Assunta
Hi, I have done this mistake because on Italian Wikipedia you can find disambiguation page with none blue link. Now I know the first substantial difference between en.wiki and it.wiki… :-) --LukeWiller (talk) 12:24, 30 June 2019 (UTC).
