Articles for Creation Reviewing

I recently sent you an invitation to join NPP, but you also might be the right candidate for another related project, AfC, which is also extremely backlogged.
Would you please consider becoming an Articles for Creation reviewer? Articles for Creation reviewers help new users learn the ropes of creating their first articles, and identify whether topics are suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia. Reviewing drafts doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia inclusion policies and guidelines; currently Wikipedia needs experienced users at this task. (After requesting to be added to the project, reviewing is not mandatory. One can do it at their convenience). But kindly read the reviewing instructions before making your decision. Thanks. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 01:53, 29 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

  • @Insertcleverphrasehere: Thank you very much again for your invitation, this time for another WP task. After carefully checking the topic, I came to the conclusion that I better stay as an editor rather than to act as an AfC reviewer even though I see that there is a tremendous backlog over there. The WikiProject Turkey, where I am mainly active, is very poor in terms of article numbers (33,419 articles as of today) compared with WP GRE (37,817), WP IRI (89,980), WP ITA (53,263), WP GER (111,372), WP FRA (118,620) to name some. Please excuse me for my decision. CeeGee 09:55, 6 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hazırlamakta olduğum bir makale

edit

— Preceding unsigned comment added by Anilaydin (talkcontribs) 19:48, 28 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • @CeeGee: Bu onur verici. Çok teşekkür ederim.
  • @Anilaydin: Instead of commenting, I completely rewrote the article -if you don't mind- in my way, which was easier. As I can see you did a detailed search for sources, and wrote also in detail, which is good. However, the complaint is "it is written like an advertisement". For the beginning, I recommend a shorter version with main facts using only reliable sources like nationwide newspapers. Almost all of my biography articles written like my rewriting above face no objection if the person is notable enough. You can compare your and mine version before you delete the initial portion, and retry once. Happy editing. And please do not forget to sign always your notes. Thanks. Destekleriniz için tekrar tekrar teşekkür eder , saygılarımı sunarım.--Anilaydin (talk) 21:39, 29 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Thanks again, I am honored. Compared with other countries, Turkey-related are few. Willingly contributors like you are much needed. Your article can surely be improved later. You can also post a note to the reviewer about the new situation. Happy editing. CeeGee 04:58, 30 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Hi! I noticed it. It seems that the notabikity of the person was verified by a bot. You can challenge it by contacting the reviewer and asking him to consider WP:GNG rules due to various reliable sources given by nationwide Turkish newspapers. I guess she is notable enough. Cheers. CeeGee 12:18, 1 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
--Anilaydin (talk) 22:27, 1 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • @Anilaydin: I applied to User:huon in his talk page. Please check it. He insists that the sources I've given are unrelieble. Weird for my POV. If you are further interested in getting it submitted, so try to add "relieble sources" for another revew. CeeGee 18:30, 3 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • I see the situation. Please follow the hints on the bottom of the warn tag of the darft article like "Find sources" etc for searching more reliable sources to meet the requirements mentioned by Huon. In the beginning it can be sometimes troublesome. CeeGee 17:00, 4 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
--Anilaydin (talk) 22:53, 6 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Deniz Seki, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Ege and Kutsi (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Turkish National Contest

edit

Hi, I've created Wikipedia:Contests/Toolkit/Template based on the very successful women contest model. It will make setting up a new contest really easy. You and Nedim Ardoğa might be interested in running a National Turkish Contest on here. If so I'd be happy to help you set it up and guide you to getting a grant and participants. Turkey could do with a boost on here. A general contest based on the Wikipedia:Awaken the Dragon model might be ideal.♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:46, 1 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

I thought you might have been interested in the prospect of a contest for Turkey?♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:51, 1 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • I am not uninterested. However, I try to understand what the purpose is. In the first look, it seems to me a very high goal. I am not sure if we can continue when we start. You know that we are three or four at all. Give me please a little bit time. I appreciate your efforts anyway. CeeGee 20:00, 1 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Buildings and structures in the Ottoman Empire

edit

A tag has been placed on Category:Buildings and structures in the Ottoman Empire requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. —swpbT go beyond 18:27, 6 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Turkey at the 2013 Mediterranean Games

edit

The article Turkey at the 2013 Mediterranean Games has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not a notable topic. Winners Already covered in sufficant depth at the main page of the games

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. A Barnstar for you!

edit
The "Did You Know...?" Reviewer's Barnstar

Thank you for your work in evaluating articles that are submitted for review so they can be mentioned in the DYK section of Wikipedia’s Main Page. I have often wondered why reviewers often don't get accolades for their work since they often put in as much time as those who improve content. The effort needed to participate in this area of Wikipedia is significant. I don't think most other editors realize what a service you are doing to help showcase new, expanded or recently promoted GA articles. What you do provides an incentive for new and experienced editors to continue improvement and creation of content. I find my curiosity piqued by the DYKs. You do a great job and help me gain insight into the range of topics that Wikipedia covers. You’ve put in the time and effort to improve content and therefore deserve recognition and appreciation.

DYK for Ayşe Sinirlioğlu

edit

Would you be willing to add "a woman" before Ambassador or after the name? I looked at the nomination and the article and am ready to state that it meets all the criteria. I do think it would be a little more interesting hook with the addition but I don't think it is so brilliant that I want to push that. If you disagree, I am still willing to state that it meets all the criteria. I thought it might be easier and perhaps faster to contact you directly rather than add this to the nomination review and then have to go back and add more. Besides, it seems to make it give more flexibility since I do not have a firm position on the alternative. I will be signing off in a few minutes but should be back online within 18 hours or so, not that there is supposed to be any rush. Yet, the item has been up for over a month and I am sure you would like to have someone review it soon. And if someone gets in ahead of me in the next several hours, it would be just as well to move it along. Thanks. Donner60 (talk) 08:37, 4 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Invitation to participate in study

edit

Hello,

I am E. Whittaker, an intern at Wikimedia with the Scoring Team to create a labeled dataset, and potentially a tool, to help editors deal with incivility when they encounter it on talk pages. A full write-up of the study can be found here: m:Research:Civil_Behavior_Interviews. We are currently recruiting editors to be interviewed about their experiences with incivility on talk pages. Would you be interested in being interviewed? I am contacting you because of your involvement in Wikipedia’s Women in Red project. The interviews should take ~1 hour, and will be conducted over BlueJeans (which does allow interviews to be recorded). If, so, please email me at ewhit@umich.edu in order to schedule an interview.

Ankara train collision

edit

I've nominated the article to appear on the main page as part of "In The News". Nomination at WP:ITNC. Are you up to writing an article for the Turkish Wikipedia. Appreciate that Wikipedia is banned in Turkey, but you appear to be outside Turkey so should be able to edit. Mjroots (talk) 14:23, 13 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Mjroots: Thanks so much for your nomination of the article at WP:ITNC. I am interested in writing only in WP:en. I am not active in WP:tr, even though I am Turkish, or in WP:de I am fluent in German. Although I live in Turkey, I am able to write in every WP due to a special preferece granted to me. So, I rather expect that someone other create the article you asked in WP:tr. Thanks again and cheers. CeeGee 14:49, 13 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Ankara train collision

edit

Hi CeeGee! Just wanted let you know why I moved the Ankara train collision to the Istanbul-Ankara HSR instead. The accident happened on the Istanbul-Ankara HSR, not the Polatli-Konya HSR. However if the link stays on the Polatli-Konya HSR, I don't really see a problem with it. Anyway, best regards!

--Central Data Bank (talk) 10:45, 21 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

@CeeGee: The Ankara-Istanbul HSR and Polatli-Konya HSR are railway lines, not railway services. YHT (Yüksek Hizli Tren) is the railway service. The crash happened on the Ankara-Istanbul HSR since the Polatli-Konya HSR begins at Polatli not Ankara.
  • The fact is that the train was bound to Konya and not to Istanbul. We may have mixed the service with the line. However, as someone with deep rail knowledge, you may fix the articles in correct way. CeeGee 18:31, 21 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
