Geothermal power in Turkey
editWhen you reverted my edits to Geothermal power in Turkey just now I think you should have explained why you did so in the comment. Don't you? Jzlcdh (talk) 20:31, 2 March 2015 (UTC)
- I said AGF (Assumed Good Faith). Previous version was OK, the changes were not necessary. --CeeGee 20:38, 2 March 2015 (UTC)
There were many different small changes for different reasons and I spent quite a lot of time on it. I think it would have been better if you had reverted individual changes you felt had not enough justification and made a comment to explain why. Alternatively you could have asked me why I had added particular stuff and I could have improved it. Anyway I hope we are both interested in the subject and explaining it properly so I hope we can co-operate in future on it. So I'll make some changes now and put comments explaining my reasoning for each one. If you disagree with what I do I hope you will start a new section in the "talk" for the subject rather than reverting immediately. Bear in mind that I probably won't reply for a week or so. Jzlcdh (talk) 17:23, 9 March 2015 (UTC)
- I have no objection as long as the article is being improved. However, I reserve the right to revert when the article is being mutilated. That is my concerrn only. --CeeGee 17:37, 9 March 2015 (UTC)

The reason I trimmed and changed:
"Known for his sentiment of nature and environment, Kayahan performed many relief benefit concerts in order to create or increase awareness. He also took part in volunteer actions.
to:
"Kayahan performed many relief benefit concerts in order to create or increase awareness about the environment."
is because the English language grammar and syntax of the former are too badly mangled and to some degree incoherent, as well as filled with unnecessary cruft. Quis separabit? 12:14, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
As far as date tags, as far as I know, when the date and the accessdate are the same, it is ususally not necessary to keep both. ("Tarih" ve "accessdate" özdeş olduğunda hem tutmak için genellikle gerekli değildir.)
Quis separabit? 12:17, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
- You could reply at your own talk page without removing my request there. Is iı possible that you are ashamed of the questions? It's your POV what you've deleted. One would expect that you correct the grammer instead of wiping out the sentence. It seems that English is your mother tongue but your Turkish needs a lot improvement as my English. Referring to change of reference format, you have also omitted dates, which were not the same as the accessdate. The way I write the reference is surely MOS. Check it out.--CeeGee 12:32, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
I cannot understand exactly what your point is. According to this diff only one date was removed, again because it was identical to the accessdate; I restored it.But if you insist then restore all the dates you want, redundant or otherwise.
As far as removing your message from my talk page, I did not mean that to be offensive or hurtful but I saw no reason to keep it as I intended to leave my replies here on your talk page. As far as your comment: "Is iı possible that you are ashamed of the questions? It's your POV what you've deleted." -- this makes no sense. You are not communicating as well as you think you are and a significant percentage of what you are trying to communicate is not going as you planned. I know that my "Turkish needs a lot improvement", as it is non-existent. I only went to google.com/translate to try to translate part of my reply into your native tongue, not to be demeaning but to be helpful and go the extra distance to try to build a bridge, but evidently you do not appreciate it, so I won't any more. Yours, Quis separabit? 12:45, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
- My knowledge of Turkish is only slightly inferior to your comprehension of English. Stop harassing me and leave me alone. Quis separabit? 20:13, 6 April 2015 (UTC)

Hi CeeGee. At Zati Sungur, from looking at the history, you apparently created the article with the edit summary "reworded", implying that there was text somewhere else. Can you point me to the prior history for this article? I ask for two reasons - (1) for attribution purposes, we need to merge the history and (2) I am processing an OTRS ticket for permission to use an image in the article that is from before January 7, so I am assuming that a previous version existed somewhere and that I can track down the image from there. Thanks, --B (talk) 10:52, 9 April 2015 (UTC)
- I see also that the article's history begins with my edit tagged "reworded". Even though it's not long ago, I cannot remember how it developed. If the article was created before my edit, and those versions do not exist today, I guess an admin must be able to recover it. I'm sorry not to be able to help you in any way. Cheers. --CeeGee 14:11, 9 April 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply. I looked and there is no deleted history for the article at that title. (I am an admin and we get a little link showing us deleted revisions when we look at the history.) I'm assuming it was copied/pasted from a draft (because anything else would at least have a log entry), but finding that is worse than looking for a needle in a haystack - it's like looking for a specific needle in a Wikipedia-sized pile of other needles. ;) But if you don't remember where it was from, hopefully we get a reply from the person who provided the image with the username that was used to upload it and I can locate it that way. --B (talk) 14:27, 9 April 2015 (UTC)

- It's also likeky that I've started that article tagging it wrongly "reworded" instead of "created" I used to do. I'm not sure now. In those days, I'd created a number of bio articles about other Turkish stage magicians. --CeeGee 14:56, 9 April 2015 (UTC)

Hi, can I interest you and page stalkers in this project? For starting missing articles from other wikis. All about addressing systematic bias and "matching" up categories with Turkish wikipedia. You could use it to list lots of missing Turkish article at Wikipedia:WikiProject Intertranswiki/Turkish. If so put your name down on the project talk page and add a tick by your name. Even if not, at some point we'll do some Turkish stub of the week drives and will need your input on what is missing! I'm aware that other wikis the quality isn't always great for translation, but the idea really is to identify notable missing articles and aim to start a lot of them with improved sourcing/content.♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:55, 3 May 2015 (UTC)

editHi there. I'm working on sourcing Demirel's article for In The News following his recent death. This really is a long shot, but I noticed that you copy-edited the article over ten years ago with this edit. I was going to use the Turkish Foreign Ministry's bio for him but it seems like they've copied your text. Do you happen to remember what sources you used? Fuebaey (talk) 10:15, 20 June 2015 (UTC)
- Hi! Ooh well! It's very hard for me to trace it back. However, it is very unlikely that the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs would take text from WP for publishing on its own web page. They have one of the best archives in the country. I'm very sorry for unable to help you further. Happy editing. --CeeGee 10:29, 20 June 2015 (UTC)

- Welcome to WP and WP Turkey. Thank you so much for your kind message. WPTR very much needs contributors with deep lang-en and lang-tr knowledge like you. As I can see from your userboxes, you also have a wide variety of interests, which can be helpful for the improvement of WPTR. Feel free to contact me or other colleagues from TR whenever you need assistance. I would be grateful if you can spare time to check and copyedit my contributions in future. Speaker
editWell, it's up to you. I don't think it makes a lot of sense, personally. I've seen a lot of lists of parliamentary speakers, and while the custom of having the oldest member preside at the opening of parliament is a common thing, I've never seen them included in those lists, or even titled as "speaker". In some cases, the oldest member will preside only for a matter of hours before a speaker is elected. It is interesting to know who presided at the opening of each parliament, although I don't know if it's appropriate to list them along with the elected speakers. If you think so, wouldn't it be necessary to also list whoever presided at the openings of previous parliaments (if that can be determined)? Everyking (talk) 05:20, 3 July 2015 (UTC)

You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Updates and future plans
editGood evening, CeeGee! Well, where I'm writing this it's around noon, but I know it's evening over in Turkey. First of all, I just want to thank you for all of your effort and for helping me make these contributions, you've kind of given me a platform that helps me contribute to WPTR, although none as good as the edits of your time. Currently, I have nominated Dilek Peninsula-Büyük Menderes Delta National Park for good article status, which is of course a major step forward for any article's development. Not only that, but the DYK review is complete and it is now approved by the reviewer, however when it will appear on the main page is yet unknown (no problem). There is now a new article for Güvercin Island, which I would like you to expand 5-fold for DYK along with me whenever you're ready, and in the far future I would also like to expand and DYK nominate Chios Strait, Mycale Strait, Gulf of Kuşadası, Gulf of İzmir, Lake Büyükçekmece, İsa Bey Mosque, and Kuşadası. Kuşadası will be a bit hard to 5x expand in 7 days, so we should just get it to Good Article status if we are to expand it.
Overall, I think we are among the last remaining active WPTR editors currently, but with luck there will be more editors around willing to join. There use to be many other active editors in the past (2006-2008), back when I was far too young to edit the wiki :). I wonder what happened to them all. I think you might know. Anyway, thank you for all your help, and the best, Coderenius (talk) 16:17, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Coderenius! Thanks a lot for your nice words. I'm very certain that WPTR has won a well-educated, quick-learning and very enthuiastic contributor. Yes, what WPTR is lacking are GAs and FAs. I'm sure that your editing will inspire some other people having English and Turkish as first language in this way. I'll be by your side for co-editing whenever I can. I wish you all the best with your first GA-nom and hope that it will succeed very soon. Have a nice day. --CeeGee 02:52, 19 July 2015 (UTC)
I need your help
editI really need your help. So in WP:AGF, of course, I created the article Kayahan'ın En İyileri No.1, as the posthumous compilation album after his death. It has a Turkish Wikipedia page as well, so I decided to create it. As a start, I wrote a single sentence and saved it, knowing I would come back to it later to expand it. Then, all of a sudden, just a few SECONDS after creation, it was patrolled and nominated for deletion by this user. I'm sure she did so in good faith as well, but under all circumstances I may need an experienced Wikipedian like you on my side to assert my case. She might have done so because she thinks I'm inexperienced or don't know what I'm doing. I just want to friendly reminder that it is not finished yet and that it should not have been delete nomed in an instant. The discussion is here, and please ping her using the template ping|I dream of horses (with curly brackets around, I don't mean to ping her right now). However, be friendly to her, I do not mean to come off as pushy or rude. Thank you so much, and wishing you the best, Coderenius (talk) 19:59, 19 July 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Coderenius! Thank you for contacting me for help. I checked out the entry at the "article for deletion" page, and read also your respond. It is an automatic action because, I guess, no rel ref was provided at the said article's creation. However, "it is considered for deletion" only. That doesn't mean that it will be certainly deleted. If you can improve the article with text and rel refs that bring it to a notable status in a reasonable time then nothing will happen. The head tag will be also removed. Don't worry. On the other hand, pls be aware of WP:CAN. Have a nice day. --CeeGee 20:59, 19 July 2015 (UTC)
- Ooh, I should have remembered. Sorry for the haste, I didn't consider canvassing at the time. I guess I was just taken a bit by surprise at how quickly it all happened. Thank you for the advice, CeeGee, and in the meantime I'll keep improving the article so I can prove it's notability. Sam Walton also advised that I might have wanted to edit it as a draft or in a sandbox before putting it into namespace, so I'll consider that next time as well! Cheers, mate, Coderenius (talk) 22:16, 19 July 2015 (UTC)
DYK on May 20?
editHello, CeeGee. Great to talk to you again. I've noticed that a new article you created, on July 16, Demirköy Foundry, you have also nominated for DYK. This is excellent, however, you have appended the DYK date to May 20. This probably is not on purpose and is a mistake, and most likely you meant July 20. Note on DYK QPQ
editI recently promoted your DYK nomination to prep, and I noticed a conversation you had in your QPQ. For the future, the only requirements with regards to verifiability of the hook is that:
- Somewhere in the text, there appears a statement (or statements) that supports the hook. These statements do not have to appear together or record the exact wording of the hook, but must contain the facts supporting the hook.
- Each sentence that is used to support the hook must contain an in-line citation to a reputable source that verifies the sentence.
I hope that helps clear up the confusion somewhat. Let me know if you have any questions. ~ RobTalk 04:48, 7 August 2015 (UTC)
- @BU Rob13: Thank you for this clarification. Maybe I've missed that in the DYK rules. --CeeGee 05:44, 7 August 2015 (UTC)
- I should have made more clear that I'm paraphrasing the "cited hook" criteria, not offering a word-for-word replication of any specific rule. ~ RobTalk 05:51, 7 August 2015 (UTC)
