Invitation to the Portals WikiProject...

You are invited to join the effort to revitalize and improve the Portal system...

The Portals WikiProject was rebooted on April 17th, and is going strong. Sixty-six editors have joined so far, with more joining daily.

We're having a blast, and excitement is high...

Our goal is to update, upgrade, and maintain portals.

In addition to working directly on portals, we are developing tools to make portals more dynamic (self-updating), and to make building and maintaining portals easier. We've finished two tools so far, with more to come. They are Template:Transclude lead excerpt and Template:Transclude random excerpt.

Discussions are underway about how to further upgrade portals, and what the portals of the future will be.

There are plenty of tasks (including WikiGnome tasks too).

With more to come.

We may even surprise ourselves and exceed all expectations. Who knows what we will be able to accomplish in what may become the biggest Wikicollaboration in years.

Help with article review?

Hi,

I've created a redrafted article for Nextdoor at User:BC1278/sandbox/Nextdoor. I have a conflict of interest here, so the redraft requires a an independent review. I thought you might be interested because you are a member of the Wikipedia project for Websites and this is an article about the most prominent hyperlocal social network website and app, used in 170,000 communities around the world.

The current article is poor. If you look at the citations in my new proposed draft, you'll see that over the course of the past 10 years, this company has had multiple in-depth features in high-quality reliable sources such as The New York Times, Wired, The Atlantic, BuzzFeed News, PBS News Hours, NPR and Newsweek. And it's been written or broadcast about in hundreds of local-media reliable sources, only sample of which are cited in the 50-source article. It warrants a longer, better written and better structured article than it has now.

The draft article summarizes the sources in as neutral a manner as I was able to manage, and I'm always open to put in more work if it falls short. I have also opened a discussion on the Talk page of the article at Talk:Nextdoor#Request_for_Review which explains more of my policy explanations about the article. I also opened an RfC vote about one section of the article ("Founder'), since it received some support even though it's been removed twice before. As per RfC rules, this section should be left alone until the consensus has been reached.
