Telefongyár
Hi! The Telefongyár article contains translations from the Hungarian "Telefongyar" article. There are tons of English language references here: https://www.google.com/search?q=telefongyar+telephone&biw=3840&bih=2085&sxsrf=ALeKk00K9-Hg5qlcbHzhcQQYx3PzvGeguA%3A1614840607245&source=lnt&tbs=cdr%3A1%2Ccd_min%3A%2Ccd_max%3A&tbm=bks Can you move it back to the normal articles? I can add references too. --Durnheim (talk) 06:53, 4 March 2021 (UTC)
DYK for Eli Savit
On 7 March 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Eli Savit, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that in 2020, Eli Savit was elected the prosecuting attorney of Washtenaw County, Michigan, on a promise to abolish the cash bail system? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Eli Savit. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Eli Savit), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (ie, 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Template names
Hello, Template names are supposed to be completely descriptive of their function and of their flow.
We are supposed to name them long, then create a shortcut to them that is succinct and memorable.
To that end, the long template name has a very germane shortcut name.
To nominate a template for deletion based on the longness of its name is contrary to the instructions for the naming conventions of templates.
Please, kindly withdraw your nomination on that basis.
Most respectfully - {{u|WikiWikiWayne}} {Talk}
15:06, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
- WikiWikiWayne hi, my nomination was more based off of how the template is not used nor apparently useful - the naming was not the main issue. Feel free to comment at the TfD, though. Elli (talk | contribs) 03:06, 12 March 2021 (UTC)
Draft:Brad_Walls
Hi Elli! We had a brief chat over on Teahouse on artist notability. Did you find any time to look through the Draft:Brad_Walls? Thanks :) Bradwalls1992 (talk) 04:17, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
- Bradwalls1992 sure, thanks for the reminder! (sorry, midterms have caught me to get a bit less responsive than I'd like) Elli (talk | contribs) 04:42, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
- All good Elli! Bradwalls1992 (talk) 04:54, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
- Bradwalls1992 so, here's the thing. I've removed a significant amount of sources that were in the article that were either redundant or from unreliable sources (see WP:FORBESCON for example). The main issue is that while the content in the "Career" section is well-sourced, it's not significant biographical coverage. The reference I've left in "Early life" would work if Aerial Photography Awards were a reliable source, but they aren't. Additionally, since they don't have an article, nor much coverage that I could find, it's unlikely that winning a category in the contest gives notability.
- However, if you have any reliable source that gives that level of biographic coverage of you, that should be sufficient. Elli (talk | contribs) 05:03, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Elli. Thanks for reviewing and providing your comments. I have rebuilt the content solely focusing on style to pass WP:Artist. Many artists pages are less biographical (birth place, education etc) and focus on their significant artistic impact in society, a great example of this is Maria Svarbova. Given the similarities that we both share in regards to artistic presence, I find it hard how this would be declined. Awaiting your response Bradwalls1992 (talk) 21:48, 10 March 2021 (UTC)

Hello! Can you add an optional parameter for new teams. Which denotes which teams who promoted from the second tier in the league system you can't be promoted from Premier League to Premier League. Yours sincerely, Sondre --80.212.169.236 (talk) 10:31, 3 April 2021 (UTC)

Regarding football league season
Hello! The change I wish you make is regarding the parameter concerning promotion. Teams can only be promoted from the second-tier to the first-tier and not from the first-tier to the first-tier. When i write in teams that are promoted to the Premier League in 1997/98 e.g. Bolton, Barnsley and Crystal Palace which are the right ones they can't be promoted to Premier League but from the First Division. New teams can fix that issue. A parameter for new teams for the season is that possible to add?. Yours sincerely, Sondre --80.212.169.236 (talk) 12:08, 3 April 2021 (UTC)

Hello! I meant the Template:Infobox football league season of course. Can you add a label concerning new teams for the season. Which concerns which teams which are promoted or relegated if any. Teams can't be promoted from the top-tier to the top-tier but teams can be relegated from the top-tier to the second-tier of the league system. Check the Swedish template for such information se:Mall:Infobox fotbollsligasäsong so you see that label there. When i write in the promoted teams e.g. Bolton, Barnsley and Crystal Palace in the 1997/98 season of the Premier League which are the right ones. Yours sincerely, Sondre --80.212.169.236 (talk) 12:25, 3 April 2021 (UTC)

Discontent Content Issue 1
Welcome, subscribers, to the inaugural Discontent Content newsletter! Discontent Content is a newsletter aiming to collate and improve Wikipedia articles in need of more eyes and hands to get them in shape. Its unique trimodal structure allows editors to work where they feel comfortable -- with stubs and starts needing to be brought to standard, mid-quality articles with Good or Featured potential, or quality-assessed articles needing help to maintain their status. Articles in this category are those that need to be brought up to a minimum quality standard. Some will be stubs; others will be longer articles that nonetheless have significant concerns putting them far below B- or C-class adequacy. This issue's Category 1 articles are:
Articles in this category, while in better current shape than Category 1, are still missing something. They have the potential to be truly high-quality content, and may have been at one point. With work, they can be brought up to dizzying heights. This issue's Category 2 articles are:
Articles in this category have been assessed through a content review process in the past, but may require work to be brought up to current GA/FA standard. Editors can help bring them to a level where the star or plus near their names can once again shine. This issue's Category 3 articles are:
Hello, wonderful people, and welcome to the very first Discontent Content! I'm glad you're here, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you can do. In future issues, I hope to use this section to brag about the achievements of subscribers -- so why not go do something worth bragging about? Article improvement initiatives have a long and storied history on this project, and I'm honoured to add myself to the list of people trying to find one that works. My perhaps quixotic goal here is to unify a few different issues -- the maintenance of old quality-assessed articles (GAs in particular) and the sheer length of the long left tail -- in one fell swoop. I'd be happy if this ended in something like another GA sweep; I'd be happier if it ended in another GA sweep where those GAs got kept. I'd be even happier than that if this resulted in the improvement of our worst articles, not just our best. I believe in the project, and I believe in what we can be. Most of all, I believe in you. Let's get out there and make this thing better. |

Not only do restrictions not get lifted, if I mess up and only wait 22 hours to nominate a new article for deletion someone opens an ANI against me. The clear intention of some is to destroy any contribution I make to Wikipedia. There is little other way to explain that one editor has nominated over 100 articles I created for deletion. There was at least one day he nominated 5 articles I created for deletion, and there were some weeks he nominated over 20 articles I created for deletion. Hi Elli :)
Thanks for getting back to me on my Teahouse query. It's been archived now so couldn't respond there (or perhaps I can but still learning the ropes - there is a lot to take in). I would say I'm interested in both sides - I enjoy writing, but also think I will enjoy taking on some of the more maintenance aspects of the site. Any advice is most appreciated :) DizzyDaisies (talk) 19:33, 18 April 2021 (UTC)
- @DizzyDaisies: sure - any particular questions? There's a lot of gnomish work, though whether it is enjoyable is... up to interpretation (I actually have some trouble thinking of what I do, exactly, but looking at old cleanup categories is always a start). Hello, I am wondering why you didn't notify me or the IPs when you nominated the Robinhood and Soroka joke AfDs for deletion. Is it because I did you some harm? NotReallySoroka (talk) (formerly DePlume) 04:21, 23 April 2021 (UTC)
- @NotReallySoroka: of course not - I notified the page creator, which you were not. Since you didn't actually create the page, I didn't notify you. Page mover granted
Hello, Elli. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, move subpages when moving the parent page(s), and move category pages.
Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect
is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.
Useful links:

If you do not want the page mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! –xenotalk 00:06, 28 April 2021 (UTC)
Köld deletion nomination
Hi, @Elli. I noticed that you made a statement in my direction, during the AfD discussion, that you "didn't mean to imply that I thought that albums need to be chart to be notable". I totally understand that. When I typed my sentence of "One thing I will say..." I felt that I had a limited ability to prevent that I was insinuating that about you. My attempt at mitigating that was by implicitly referencing the coverage concern at the end, with "...especially since the other concern..."
To summarize, I did not intentionally imply that you thought only charting albums should be on Wikipedia, but I understand why you felt the need to make your defense of such.
Anyways, while I expressed my opinion to keep the Köld page in a strong way, I can appreciate that you did help spotlight legitimate issues with the article. I have also bought a CD copy of the album, in hopes that I can perhaps add information from its liner notes to the page.
Thanks, and keep up the good work. Mungo Kitsch (talk) 05:35, 30 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Mungo Kitsch: all good - just wanted to clarify my position. And I'm glad the article has been improved! Deletion is a last resort - and while I didn't see other options - I'm glad others did. Elli (talk | contribs) 05:42, 30 April 2021 (UTC)

New teams in the football league season template
Hello! Is it possible to add a new teams parameter to the infobox football league season template. It should tell who are new teams in the country's top-tier division. The teams can't be promoted from the Premier League to the Premier League but they can be promoted from the second-tier and other-tier divisions. Yours sincerely, Sondre --62.73.207.204 (talk) 13:14, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
- I'm really not sure if I'm the best person to ask about this - I'd encourage you to test things out in the template's sandbox to figure it out yourself, then when it all works, submit an edit request. Elli (talk | contribs) 15:01, 2 May 2021 (UTC)

This is ridiculously late, and I apologise -- I've been writing articles :) I've also, excitingly, landed a couple 'real publishing' writing gigs, which I'll be plenty excited to talk about when they're published. Due to the current increased amount of writing I have to do on a regular basis both on- and off-wiki, I'm planning to drop this down to monthly so I can spread out my responsibilities a bit. |
G13
Hi Elli, I've noticed that you have been tagging some user subpages marked with {{Userspace draft}} for deletion using {{db-afc}}. Please note that WP:G13 only applies to userspace if it is tagged with {{AFC submission}} or contains article wizard placeholder text only, and not for actual draft attempts. WP:ABANDON#Stale userspace drafts suggests how to handle the type of drafts you have been tagging. ✗plicit 03:49, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Explicit: thanks, I've been generally avoiding the more promising drafts, or ones by editors who have edited semi-recently. For ones that have some significant amount of content, I'll take the appropriate action listed there. Elli (talk | contribs) 03:53, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

Hey Elli, this is about Genshin Impact
I changed the text, from predecessor to last game they made, because predecessor usually means the last game in the same series as the next game, which honkai isn't isnt apart of the genshin impact series, only relating to it with who made it, would you agree with me ? EzeeWiki (talk) 21:36, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
- @EzeeWiki: I replied to you at Ferret's talkpage. Your edit is fine, though the original wording was also fine. Elli (talk | contribs) 21:37, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
thankyou for your input and thoughts, i just wanted to clarify that i only changed it because predecessor usually means the game that came before in the series, like a successor is the next game in the series as its taking over as succession.. EzeeWiki (talk) 21:40, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
- @EzeeWiki: yeah, I just think it's clear that in that context, "predecessor" is referring to "games developed by MiHoYo" - which is a series, in a way. Elli (talk | contribs) 21:41, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
well, genshin is a different franchise to what honkai is, but if regarding to the company its a series in spirit i guess, but in context to the game itself, its not its predecessor, i think my edit was okay, ill just leave as is now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by EzeeWiki (talk • contribs) 21:44, 21 May 2021 (UTC)

- @Reesashukla: hi - I'm not sure your article subject meets Wikipedia's guidelines on notability. However you write can't change that, they need more significant coverage in reliable sources. Elli (talk | contribs) 12:58, 25 May 2021 (UTC)

- (talk page stalker) @Reesashukla: As @Vaticidalprophet: mentions in their AFD comment (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Deep Datewas and then the bottom comment) the main issue is that the sources you cite are screenshots of articles, without any context. This makes it hard to A) assess if the source is a reliable source, which are required for articles about living people and B) makes it incredibly hard to run them through a translation software, which makes reading and therefore assesing them impossible for people who don't speak the language. If you could replace the screenshots with links to the source of the screenshots this would help a great deal, although even then it is not guarenteed the article will be kept. Hope this helps, -- Asartea Talk | Contribs 15:15, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
- Asartea problem is that print newspapers has no e-paper websites and state dominated newspaper mostly don't keep archive of 4-5 years. they keep only for 1 month. there is links available for old news, we can get old news only in print methods. only international agencies keep archive of decades in their servers. so that's why i need a good way to sort it out. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Reesashukla (talk • contribs) 16:38, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) @Reesashukla: The issue is that without a link to the published source, or some way of accessing it via a newspaper archive, there's no way for other editors to verify the source. Do you have information regarding the publication titles, so that someone could at least attempt to find the articles somewhere? If not, I fear that the article won't be suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia. The issue isn't that the sources aren't in English, the issue would be verification that the source was indeed published by whatever organisation you claim, and that it supports the information in the article. Note that I'm not necessarily doubting that as such, merely saying that at present we have no way to verify it. firefly ( t · c ) 18:18, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
