Week 3/ yL10229

I edited Life satisfaction. Here is the link of diff. I am more familiar with editing and adding sources. I am so excited! YL10229 (talk) 16:50, 30 March 2024 (UTC)

Week 3/Zefeng Jing

The article I edited is User Experience. I introduced insights into the integration of user experience (UX) with Human-Robot Collaboration (HRC) in manufacturing, underscoring its pivotal role in improving workplace dynamics. It broadens the article's knowledge base, offering readers a nuanced understanding of how technological advancements enhance worker interactions. Here is the diff of my edit.

Thanks! Zefeng jing (talk) 18:27, 30 March 2024 (UTC)

@Zefeng jing Your edit was reverted as it did not fit and was unclear. Please review the feedback the other editor shared in their feedback and either make a clearer contribution to this article or assign yourself a new article to edit for this week. Please revise this within a week and ping me here when done. FULBERT (talk) 14:10, 4 April 2024 (UTC)

Week 3/ Jiangjiao Fan

I edited the article Adolescent Sleep. Many teenagers have poor and shorter sleep times, which leads to both mental and physical problems. I added more details about adolescents' sleeping habits and the drawbacks of poor sleep. During this process, I have a deep learning of the importance of having enough and high-quality sleep. Here if the diff.

Week 2/Jrxijown

I edited the article GPT-4. Here is the diff of my edit. I learned that ChatGPT's new voice conversation feature makes me feel like technology is advancing too quickly. I believe editing Wikipedia is very meaningful. I'd love to do this job! ~~~~ Jrxijown (talk) 00:53, 31 March 2024 (UTC)

@Jrxijown Nice edit. Current with Week 2. FULBERT (talk) 14:14, 4 April 2024 (UTC)

Week 3/Jrxijown

I edited the article LGBT culture in New York City. Here is the diff. I learned that New York City showcases its inclusivity towards the LGBTQ+ community through an array of events, such as Pride marches, cultural exhibitions, and gatherings that champion diversity and solidarity. Its official Pride theme, "Strength in Solidarity," emphasizes the roots of Pride as a protest movement against bigotry, underlining the significance of unity in the struggle for equality. Furthermore, editing Wikipedia allowed me to enhance my knowledge of the extensive initiatives and activities New York City engages in to support and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community. Jrxijown (talk) 02:05, 31 March 2024 (UTC)

@Jrxijown Nice edit. Current with Week 3. FULBERT (talk) 14:16, 4 April 2024 (UTC)

Week 3/ ef2467

I edited the 2024 in Haiti wiki page. I added the event that was reported on March 29th of a streamer being kidnapped while traveling to the country to try and conduct an interview.

I thought this article was interesting to edit as I have been following this story lately and was invested in assuring the most recent, reliable information was available

Here is the diff Ef2467 (talk) 01:43, 31 March 2024 (UTC)

@Ef2467 Nice edit, though a sad event. Current with Week 3. FULBERT (talk) 14:18, 4 April 2024 (UTC)

Week 3/ sj4452

I edited the article Mindfulness-based stress reduction. Here is the diff. I added information on the effectiveness of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) for a diverse patient population and its applicability in both clinical and nonclinical settings.

I learned to carefully choose credible sources and summarize the research findings clearly for a diverse audience. It helped me understand truly how much reading and understanding goes into editing/adding even one small section of a complex article.

@Sj4452 Nice edit. Current with Week 3. FULBERT (talk) 14:19, 4 April 2024 (UTC)

Week 4 / kph7917

The first article I edited was on Artificial intelligence. The diff for this article is [1].

The second article I edited was on Psychedelic drug. The diff for this article is [2].

This exercise encouraged me to research topics I am interested in while also contributing to the learning of others. In editing these articles, we have to also read what other people have written about these topics so it increases my knowledge. I think it is important to be knowledgeable in different areas of research on a daily basis to have a better understanding of the world.

Kph7917 (talk) 20:17, 1 April 2024 (UTC)

@Kph7917 Your first edit was reverted as not being a reliable source, though I disagree and think the edit was fine. Let's discuss this. The second edit was also fine. Current with Week 4. FULBERT (talk) 14:22, 4 April 2024 (UTC)

Week 4 / Wangzitong1018

The first article I edited was Time management. Here is the diff of my edit. I learned that time management is very important for us.

The second article I edited was Risk management. Here is the diff of my edit. I learned that enterprise risk management is vital for the preservation of reputation. Wangzitong1018 (talk) 23:22, 4 April 2024 (UTC)

@Wangzitong1018 Your first edit was reverted, and your second one was fine. Please review the reason and the guidance related to a Neutral Point of View per WP:NEUTRAL, meaning information should be represented fairly and proportionately, avoiding stating opinions as facts, seriously contested assertions as facts, or through using judgmental language. Then, reply here with a summary of the statement on opinions to avoid in Wikipedia and then you will be current. FULBERT (talk) 16:09, 5 April 2024 (UTC)
The Wikipedia Neutral Point of View (NPOV) policy is a fundamental principle that all encyclopedic content should be written without bias, representing all significant views on a topic fairly and proportionately. This policy is essential for maintaining the integrity and credibility of Wikipedia articles. Key aspects of the NPOV policy include:
1. Avoiding Bias: Articles should not take sides or promote one particular viewpoint over another. Instead, they should strive to provide complete information from a neutral standpoint.
2. Attributing Opinions: Opinions should be clearly attributed to specific sources rather than stated as facts in Wikipedia's voice. Conflicting assertions should be presented as opinions, not as direct statements.
3. Balancing Views: The relative prominence of opposing views should be indicated, with due consideration given to the weight of each viewpoint in reliable sources. Minority views should not be given undue weight.
4. Selecting Sources: Articles should be based on reliable, independent sources with a reputation for accuracy. Biased sources may be used, but their bias should be balanced by other sources.
5. Handling Controversial Subjects: Controversial topics, such as fringe theories or religious beliefs, should be presented with sensitivity and impartiality, avoiding the promotion of any particular viewpoint.
6. Avoiding Point-of-View Forks: Articles should not be split into separate pages to evade neutrality requirements. All significant viewpoints on a topic should be addressed within the same article, except in the case of legitimate spinoff sub-articles.
In conclusion, adherence to the NPOV policy is crucial for ensuring the objectivity and reliability of Wikipedia content. It requires careful consideration of sources, balanced presentation of viewpoints, and a commitment to impartiality in writing. Wangzitong1018 (talk) 02:05, 6 April 2024 (UTC)

Week 4/Jrxijown

The first article I edited was Influenza A virus subtype H5N1. Here is the diff of my edit. I learned that the federal government stockpiles oseltamivir (Tamiflu), an antiviral medication for bird flu, and maintains communication with manufacturers to quickly increase production if needed. Additionally, you discovered that oseltamivir is widely available commercially, with generic versions produced globally.

The second article I edited was Kidney transplantation. Here is the diff of my edit. I learned that Richard Slayman, aged 62, became the first patient to successfully receive a kidney from a genetically modified pig, marking a significant advancement in the field of xenotransplantation. Despite previous failures with organ transplants from genetically modified pigs, Slayman's operation at Massachusetts General Hospital shows promising results, with the kidney performing all necessary functions effectively. This breakthrough could potentially lead to new opportunities for addressing organ shortages, demonstrating the possibility of animal-to-human organ transplants. Through editing this content, I gained a deeper understanding of the responsibilities and challenges that tech companies face regarding energy usage, as well as the environmental initiatives and efforts they undertake.

This edit aimed to illuminate the comprehensive benefits Telehealth offers to both patients and healthcare providers by leveraging digital technology to deliver healthcare services and information remotely. Here is the diff.

The second Article l edited was Work-to-rule . Here is the diff .This edit entailed incorporating an enlightening example that illustrates the potential impacts of work-to-rule strategies on workplace productivity. Specifically, I described a scenario within a large multinational corporation where software engineers, required to be on-call 24/7 without additional compensation, adopted work-to-rule tactics in response to unpaid overtime and the resultant imbalance between their work and personal lives. This example serves to elucidate how work-to-rule actions can underscore existing workplace issues and prompt reconsideration of labor practices.YL10229 (talk) 02:50, 7 April 2024 (UTC)

Week 5/ Jrxijown

The first article I edited was tooth brushing, and there is diff. I learned brushing before breakfast kills morning mouth bacteria, prevents tooth damage, and keeps brushing a must-do in our busy mornings.

The second article I edited was essential oil, and there is diff. I learned that "natural" doesn't always mean safe for our skin. Essential oils, found in many "clean" beauty products, can sometimes cause serious skin reactions. This taught me the importance of being cautious with skincare ingredients, even if they're marketed as natural, and to test new products carefully. ~~~~ Jrxijown (talk) 20:18, 9 April 2024 (UTC)
