Kami Lyle draft

Hi.... thanks for the review, and good suggestion regarding artistsandmusicians.org. Although I didn't have it as a citation, in hindsight it is a rather local organization's post. Overall I'm concerned that by adding extra references, I may have watered down the real meat of the matter... and being a newbie I really appreciate your suggestions! Tmcnellis15 (talk) 22:50, 23 November 2015 (UTC)

My hint was regarding the small passage that too closely resembled the one on that website. You can fix that by either removing it or changing its wording. As for referencing, fair points; the best way to go about it is caring about their quality. 2-3 good, solid sources can mean a whole lot more than trivial ones. Another thing you have to take into account is our music notability guideline, which you can read more about here. Try to accommodate for at least one of those criteria, and let us know why she's notable, providing relevant evidence for it. Finally, make sure biographical information is referenced at all times. Sources we look for are independent of the subject, reliable, and extensive about them, i.e. they discuss her in detail, and are not just about concert dates (unless you of course want to cite a particular concert date statement). All in all, I've found quite a few sources about her, especially in print. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions. ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hello FoCuSandLeArN

Thank you for your comment, I appreciate the help.

Do I have too many sources listed or are they not formatted correctly?

I certainly believe the subject is a notable person but maybe I have not submitted the information in the correct way?

Again, I appreciate the help.

Hello there! I left a comment for future reviewers to see, as I did not review the article myself. A cursory search led me to believe the subject might pass our general notability guideline. As for referencing, my advice is always to provide coverage that is exclusive about the subject, independent and reliable. Best of luck, FoCuS contribs; talk to me! 14:48, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

Interesting

I am wondering if English might not be their first tongue. I am now taking my own advice and walking away. Fiddle Faddle 21:07, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

@Timtrent: I thought so too, given their inability to grasp the simplest of evaluations. Their combative nature is astonishing. Let's let this die a slow and silent death. Nothing else we can do at this point. Thanks for all you've done! Cheers, FoCuS contribs; talk to me! 21:12, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
The combative stance also happens with COI. Reverse their username and you may already have noticed who they appear to be. But we are both out of there. Fiddle Faddle 21:15, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
@Timtrent: I'm also sad to see you withdraw your nomination for ArbCom, alas per DGG's apt comments "such committees always co-opt the reformists into just ordinary bureaucratic people. To accomplish major change, it can be more effective to fight from outside." Pertinent words indeed. Best, FoCuS contribs; talk to me! 21:23, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
Ah, but never mistake me for a reformer  . Well, perhaps a little. Within a committee one must be bound by the processes. That is what one is elected to do. One may suggest change, but consensus is always queen. As it happened things altered and I discovered only just far enough in advance that I would be unable to dedicate the extra time I know the role required, even if I took my own advice and used a sharp scalpel to cut away all except core issues. I'm a believer in trying to say something once and well, and then moving on. As we have seen with our mutual friend I do not always get it right. Fiddle Faddle 21:35, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

RE: Draft:Nehemia Azaz

Hi FoCuSandLeArN.

Thanks for your time and comments, which shows the page is heading in the right direction. I'll try to explain how the content is as it is at this stage.

In reviewing and making public the history and work of Nehemia Azaz (my father), we now understand that the artist was not highly interested nor greatly engaged in the academic or showmanship aspects of the artworld of the time. As a result, his work was not much written about and the materials we are using to construct the page are based on pre-internet references in the artist's archive, sparsely available web references and from renewed interest in his work, especially in Israel and the US. In addition, the artist's portfolio of work is so highly varied that it seems the experts found it hard to classify him.

While many of the largest and most prominent pieces have been destroyed, I have tried to use the references to express the high profile and enduring nature of other work that is still in situ for 40 years and more. Some of this work resides in the highest profile cultural institutions (Kennedy Center in Washington D.C, London's Victoria & Albert Museum collection) and with the ongoing work to research and catalogue the artist's work and correspondence we hope to make the reasoning even clearer.

Creating the wikipage is part of a larger project to have the history of Azaz art professionally and academically documented, and our feeling is the page will build awareness of work that still needs to be done.

I'll be grateful for your advice on other changes that should be made so the page will be considered acceptable.

Tomi raz (talk) 07:38, 26 November 2015 (UTC)

If there wasn't much coverage about the artist (in print or otherwise) then he most likely does not fulfill our general notability guideline. If he satisfies any of the criteria at WP:ARTIST, then you might have a chance. If as you say his work is in the permanent collections at the V&A or KC then he likely passes the latter notability guideline. Please find references that attest to that fact. As a final point, please be aware Wikipedia is not a place for activism or promotion, nor is it an obituary; it is an encyclopaedia, and as such we must cover encyclopaedic topics in an encyclopaedic format and language. Best, FoCuS contribs; talk to me! 16:54, 26 November 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for your comments.

Earlier editorial comments led me to understand the existing links to both V&A and KC were not in-depth enough though they clearly indicate the artist's work in the collections, so I hope they will be sufficient together with the extra references I am uncovering everyday.

I do take your point about the encyclopedic nature of the page, and will modify accordingly. Thanks again!

Tomi raz (talk) 19:06, 26 November 2015 (UTC)

They're not in-depth about the subject, but they do help establish notability per WP:ARTIST. I meant my comments about the encyclopaedia given your attitude with regards to him having been your father, and your apparent motives. Nothing to be worried about, just so you know how you should tackle this. Cheers, FoCuS contribs; talk to me! 19:33, 26 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi!

Thank you for your comment on Silvio Wolf's page. May I ask you why you are not sure whether the page may pass or not the WP Artist though? Is the coverage ok even though there are many Italian sources, as you underline?

Thanks!

Best GVndl (talk) 00:10, 9 December 2015 (UTC)

Hey there! I simply offered a comment for future reviewers, given I did not perform a full review. I made a cursory search and found there was coverage in Italian, but I can't attest to his notability or lack thereof. WP:ARTIST provides a set of criteria which if fulfilled mean the subject in question likely is notable. WP:GNG provides our most general requisites for notability, which mainly imply significant coverage in independent and reliable sources. Hope this helps, FoCuS contribs; talk to me! 00:38, 9 December 2015 (UTC)

Gill Fielding: GNG Query

Hi FoCuSandLeArN

I've noticed your comment that you don't feel the subject of the article passes GNG. My personal opinion is that she does, because:

She has appeared on several national mainstream UK TV channels (including BBC, ITV, Channel4). She is the main subject in one of them. She has appeared as the main subject in several national mainstream UK newspapers, including The Sunday Times, The Telegraph (both broadsheets) and the Daily Express (middle-market). She forms the main subject in a number of local newspaper articles specifically for her advice on finance and property.

I have yet to resubmit this article for review due to ongoing issues with tone, but I hope you will look again and reconsider your opinion.

Thanks. Neil Neilho (talk) 01:21, 9 December 2015 (UTC)

My opinion is just that, an opinion; I didn't review the article. After a perfunctory search, I couldn't find evidence she passes WP:GNG, via extensive coverage in independent and reliable sources. If you have such evidence please provide it. Good quality sources go much further than just bombarding us with citations. Best, FoCuS contribs; talk to me! 13:16, 9 December 2015 (UTC)

Request on 18:17:22, 14 December 2015 for assistance on AfC submission by Donaldeval

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to review again the draft Skipp Williamson. I appreciate your effort. I am quite surprised by your decision to decline this submission because this new version is a substantial improvement over the previous one which were evaluated as "This may be acceptable but will need any more available third-party coverage about this subject." I have added a substantial number of new references from newspapers articles that may be too old to be available online at this time. These are all there are as reference about this subject. A lot of effort has been put in writing and improving this draft over a period of one month. As Jimmy Whales, the founder of Wikipedia himself once said, "Do not bite the newbees". Therefore, I am asking you to reconsider your evaluation, accept this draft and publish it online.

17:37:04, 17 December 2015 review of submission by Ginger Navette

Hello!

Thank you for taking the time to review my article. I'm at a bit of a loss about why it has not been approved - I have been through piles of books, magazines and newspaper articles, both in print and online. I have been using other notable Vancouver architects as the basis for the creation of this article, and after the draft was rejected the first time, I upped my sources and increased my research. The article now includes more sources and referencing than most of the other articles I have been referencing.

Are there any specific sections of the document that seem to be an issue? I would love some more specific feedback from someone who is in the know!

Thanks

The problem with the submission is a notability one. There is no indication (via extensive coverage in independent and reliable sources) the firm is notable, and by notable we mean our own notability guidelines. See WP:CORP for a more thorough outline of what we're looking for. Best, FoCuS contribs; talk to me! 17:54, 17 December 2015 (UTC)

New Article - Vance Havner (in my Sandbox)

Hi,

Thank you for your kind words regarding my submission that was accepted a few years back. I have completed a new draft ready for review, but it lacks a photograph of the person, and I have been unable to find a photograph already available in the public domain. There are some appropriate photos out there...I prefer this one: http://fundamentalbaptistsermons.net/HavnerVance54.jpg and have formatted the text to accommodate that pic, but do not want to proceed with submission until the photo issue is resolved.

I have read the Wiki Commons information and have tried to move forward, but have not been very successful to this point uploading pictures, even having received permission from the owner/site/person having posted the pic online. If possible, please provide me with direction on how to proceed.

Thanks again!

(Draft:Rika Shiiki) Thank you for review; Questions

Dear FoCuSandLeArN,

Thanks for going over my article submission on Rika Shiiki.

I wanted to get some feedback on how to get this page accepted. The problem is that she has prominence in Japan (hence all the Japanese articles, and has a Wikipedia Japan page), but obviously there's not a lot of coverage on her in English. I'm assuming that having a Wikipedia Japan page isn't enough to get a page accepted in English.

Thanks again, and I hope to hear from you soon.

Deleted page draft retrieval

Dear FoCus!

My draft page posted on Articles for Creation with title "Tibor Frank" was deleted on 18 December due to copyright infringment claims, which I'm planning to soon resolve by Requesting copyright permission from the owner of the website concerned ( http://das.elte.hu/). My problem is that I'm new here and was not aware that the the draft will be permanently deleted even from Articles for Creation if its not accepted - and I didn't keep a copy of the draft for myself, which I could use when I will submit it again. Is there any way I could get the deleted draft back? Is there a log of deleted drafts from here I could retrieve it?

Many thanks: Seasdas — Preceding unsigned comment added by Seasdas (talkcontribs) 22:36, 23 December 2015 (UTC)

Article RE: Elliott Moglica

Hello,

Citation regarding the article & translation:

-Gazeta KOHA JONE

Translation (Paragraph 2): "By carefully examining and summarizing the last two books, The Proton Man: Justin Trudeau and The Protonic Guardian: Justin Trudeau, I can say with conviction that Elliott Moglica has shown himself as a powerful pen of Shakespearean style. Elliott 's is turning "poisonous politics" to "positive politics" whilst fighting with his knowledge, wisdom and pen - to make the world a happier place, fair and free." -KOHA JONE newspaper

Gazeta Nacional - Sunday, 29 November 2015 (Gezeta Nacional is a literary and cultural European weekly newspaper)

"Poet Elliott Moglica's pen contributes in bringing positive changes in Canadian politics." —Nacional (front page)

"With full mouth, I want to add that the two recent books ["The Protonic Guardian: Justin Trudeau" & "The Proton Man Justin Trudeau"] written by Elliott must be in every university library and public library." —Nacional (p.19)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2016!
