Ranking
A couple of thoughts on ranking:
- The article Ranking gives a good overview of the process. The current table uses a standard competition ("1224") ranking.
- The current table uses about 7 primary sources, none of which rank their lists (according to the definition in Ranking.)
- This CNN article provides interesting background on why it's probably impractical to rely on a single source for the table, and hints at why sources don't explicitly rank lists of shootings. https://www.cnn.com/2017/10/06/us/mass-shooting-vegas-modern-history-definition/index.html
Alert
Please carefully read this information:
The Arbitration Committee has authorised discretionary sanctions to be used for pages regarding governmental regulation of firearm ownership; the social, historical and political context of such regulation; and the people and organizations associated with these issues, a topic which you have edited. The Committee's decision is here.
Discretionary sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimize disruption to controversial topics. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to the topic that do not adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, our standards of behavior, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. This message is to notify you that sanctions are authorised for the topic you are editing. Before continuing to edit this topic, please familiarise yourself with the discretionary sanctions system. - What's this about Cinteotl? Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 22:21, 9 April 2018 (UTC)
- It's just a formality -- a required alert that Mass shootings in the US is subject to discretionary sanctions. This helps all of us stay on our best behavior when editing pages where people have strong POVs. Don't take it as anything negative. I'll be pleased to discuss any disagreements we may have about the article, and try to come to agreement. Cinteotl (talk) 02:11, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
- Typically you will see this placed on your talk page before someone tries to report you at ANI or elsewhere for violating the discretionary sanctions. They're required to show that you've been made aware of them. So be aware, it's not always as innocent as it sounds. Niteshift36 (talk) 14:41, 11 April 2018 (UTC)

The article Philip Robinson (RAF officer) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Fails WP:SOLDIER, not seeing any evidence of him being notable
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Gbawden (talk) 07:14, 23 April 2018 (UTC)
C.T.R Hayward
The information on the Arnold was false and was removed for that reason. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Phoenixpreacher (talk • contribs) 21:35, 23 April 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Phoenixpreacher! As it is fully cited, unless you have a reliable source saying otherwise, there is no valid reason for its removal. You saying it is wrong is not enough. Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 21:38, 23 April 2018 (UTC)
- PS, what does this have to do with Hayward? Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 21:39, 23 April 2018 (UTC)
