Removal of image

Hi JMC thumb|left|Eileen Egan This removal took be my surprise. I understood that all photos in Wikipedia could be used by anyone any time. I took this image from Eileen Egan's Wikipedia entry - I guess it must be some special license. I would be most grateful for an explanation or if you could refer me to an explanation I can understand. With good wishes - Gladiator-Citizen (talk) 04:36, 2 May 2021 (UTC)

No, you can't just use any image as you like. When using any image on Wikipedia you must comply with its license and the Wikipedia:Image use policy. Additionally, non-free images must comply with the Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria. — JJMC89 04:13, 3 May 2021 (UTC)

Commissioners of Irish Lights flag

I've challenged the assertion that criterion 8 is not met at talk. The flag is so vastly different to that used by the Commissioners in Ireland that it seems to me to be impossible to just describe the difference by text. The flag has been removed from the shipwreck list so we are copyright compliant in that respect. Mjroots (talk) 05:28, 3 May 2021 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thank you for changing the links to the Sharon L Smith page. I had not meant to create a new page in the mainspace and was some what horrified when I realized I had done that. My apologies for the extra work.DaffodilOcean (talk) 09:11, 13 May 2021 (UTC)

Team Taz logo files

Hi JJMC89. Any idea on what to do with File:Team Taz FTW.jpg and File:Team Taz FTW.png? JJMC89 bot flagged these for a NFCC#9 violation because of the jpg version being displayed on the png version's page. Converting the file syntax to a link is easy, but the jpg is probably mistakenly licensed as non-free. The files are essentially identical so they should be licensed the same way since either they're both "PD-logo" or they're both non-free. FWIW, the jpg is now orphaned and will be deleted per F5 in a few days, but it might be better to keep both a cropped and uncropped version and move them both to Commons. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:49, 5 May 2021 (UTC)

@Marchjuly: They should probably both be moved to Commons. — JJMC89 23:20, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

Categories

What is a Category:Serbian origin? Did you intend to move it to that title? —Xezbeth (talk) 08:59, 19 May 2021 (UTC)

File mover

Hello admin, Good evening. You removed my withdrawn request on file mover request permission with the edit summary uh, no. I'm I eligible for the rights? Regards, Powerful Karma (talk) 07:17, 21 May 2021 (UTC)

No, you're not. — JJMC89 07:57, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
Powerful Karma, I think you can't withdraw a request after it has already been denied. No need to do anything, the request will automatically be archived after a few days. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 10:25, 21 May 2021 (UTC)

Query about your amazing bot

Hello, JJMC89,

It looks like Category:Pages where template include size is exceeded was moved to Category:Pages where post-expand include size is exceeded but not all of the pages that were in the old category were moved over, 947 pages to be specific. I checked a few and the new category appears on them despite appearing in the old category. Does the deleted category page just need to be purged or something? Thanks. Liz Read! Talk! 04:32, 21 May 2021 (UTC)

@Liz: The pages in the old category just need to be purged. I started a script to do that, so it should be empty in a few hours. — JJMC89 06:51, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
Many thanks, JJMC89. I wish I had the skills to do these things myself but I'm glad others have the ability to take care of problems when they arise and are available to do so. Liz Read! Talk! 00:36, 22 May 2021 (UTC)
Excellent. This was a case where no-one would want to click Save manually on each one even using WP:JWB; that can be OK for stubs, which save quickly, but by definition the contents of this category could be much slower.
For reference, I checked the incoming links and updated any that might be still current. As there were still so many archived links left, I redirected the old category in case anybody happens to try to make sense of the old conversations.– Fayenatic London 22:16, 23 May 2021 (UTC)

Hello,

This is regarding the link to Draft:Prithviraj Chavan ministry being removed from Template:Maharashtra ministries. I understand the MOS disallows link to draft articles.

Is there a way the draft - Draft:Prithviraj Chavan ministry - can get speedy approval? I have created all but a few pages linked in Template:Maharashtra ministries, all of those have been approved and reviewed, with the exception of the said draft.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Boselaphus (talk · contribs) 09:40, 23 May 2021

I don't do this regularly, but it looks like a decent article to me, filing a gap between existing articles. I'll promote it to article space.– Fayenatic London 22:29, 23 May 2021 (UTC)

AFI

Hi JJMC89! I noticed you clerking some of the nominations at WP:AFINOM. The bot (should hopefully be able to handle those automatically, so assuming it's functioning properly I don't think there's a need. Cheers, {{u|Sdkb}}talk 04:03, 22 May 2021 (UTC)

They were malformed, so the bot wouldn't have done anything with them. — JJMC89 03:10, 25 May 2021 (UTC)

Restoring draft created by a blocked user

I noticed that you deleted Draft:Engineering Division CO-1 last year. Could you please restore the draft? I would like to work on it and get it published. ZLEA T\C 14:50, 23 May 2021 (UTC)

The editor was blocked for copyright infringement, so I'm not willing to restore anything that they have written. These are the sources from the draft.

Draft:Political posturing

@JJMC89: What was your intention with this edit? Do you mean to reject the draft as somehow unsuitable? If so, is there any statement to that effect somewhere? If not, was this related to the merge discussion started by User:Robert McClenon at Talk:Kabuki dance#Proposed merge of Draft:Political posturing into Kabuki dance? In that case, do you intend to close that discussion on the talk page? (In my opinion the current drift of that discussion is to have an article at Political posturing, contrary to your action, though I think it is too early to call that a consensus view.) Or was it perhaps done in error? Cnilep (talk) 03:46, 25 May 2021 (UTC)

Non-free files and bot-updated pages

Hi JJMC89. Would you mind watching User talk:SD0001#SDZeroBot and non-free content? Every time that bot updates User:SDZeroBot/AfD grid it either re-adds non-free files that had been previously removed or adds new non-free files for newly started AfDs. It's not a huge number of files, but they're going to keep being flagged by your bot each time it happens. Perhaps there's some tweak that you bot operators are aware of that can tell the bot to ignore non-free files. This kind of thing occasionally happens with bot-updated pages like this, but the SDZeroBot page seems to be a recent issue that probably just needs a tweak of some kind. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:28, 29 May 2021 (UTC)

The bot operator seems to have sorted things out so this probably no longer an issue. — Marchjuly (talk) 07:18, 29 May 2021 (UTC)
