Since you've moved the article, you should supply links to the two AfDs at the top of its talk page.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 04:51, 16 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi. I'm not sure what you mean about "supply links to" - the links seem to be on the talk page. Can you comment there and explain what you mean, please? Laterthanyouthink (talk) 09:09, 16 September 2023 (UTC)
See diff. I've supplied an Old XfD multi template, which should have been placed at top of that talkpage after the move.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 01:42, 18 September 2023 (UTC)
Okay, thanks for that. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 02:11, 18 September 2023 (UTC)

Bruce Dern's true age

Please check the article and do not remove the birth date content as you did to Bruce Dern. The person will forget the birth date of the past and he will lose track of the memory. Check other websites other than Wikipedia. He was born on June 4, 1936. Do not make any errors you made. 174.90.43.130 (talk) 16:47, 18 September 2023 (UTC)

If you can produce sources that give his date of birth per WP:DOB and put them on the talk page of that article, I'll be happy to replace it. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 02:14, 19 September 2023 (UTC)

Reply

I add a topic for Talk:Bruce Dern article. Please add the birth date for the biography of living person to revert normally. If you do not add birth date, other users will edit it only one at a time. You have a few hours to respond. 174.90.43.130 (talk) 14:43, 22 September 2023 (UTC)

Please keep discussion about that article on that talk page. I have seen your comment there, but you have not supplied a source. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 00:17, 23 September 2023 (UTC)

How to move/merge a page

Hi Laterthanyouthink; I had to close your WP:MFD for Tommy Rogers because the venue was not appropriate for discussing the move or merge of an article in mainspace. But I can direct you to the right place; try requesting at Wikipedia:Requested moves. The instructions for creating a request are under WP:RM#T. Let me know if you have any questions or need additional assistance. Thanks! Duly signed, WaltClipper -(talk) 13:33, 23 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi WaltClipper. That's fine, thank you. I think because of the limited options that were offered by Twinkle, it didn't seem to fit into any of the choices and I must have chosen the wrong one. Anyway, I will get it sorted. :-) Laterthanyouthink (talk) 01:03, 24 September 2023 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Creative Australia logo.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Creative Australia logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.  Andreyyshore 🆃︎ 🅲︎  05:39, 15 October 2023 (UTC)

I replaced the logo with a vector version. I know, it's still got the old filename, but I requested a rename, should be solved in a few days.  Andreyyshore 🆃︎ 🅲︎  05:39, 15 October 2023 (UTC)
Hi Andreyyshore. Sorry, but I have no idea why the current version of the logo has been removed from the article and the old version (which does not display correctly) has replaced it. It is the old version which needs to be deleted, not the one I added and used in this version of the article. Both the old and the new logos should have exactly the same status with regard to fair use policy, surely? Laterthanyouthink (talk) 09:05, 15 October 2023 (UTC)
How does it not display correctly? Just in case, if you still see the old logo, but with a wrong aspect ratio, it's your cache. Try clearing it.
The old version (which is now an old revision of File:Australia Council for the Arts logo.svg) will indeed be deleted (or rather hidden from public view) in a few days by someone who has the right to do it. I didn't want to create a new file for historical reasons and I couldn't just update yours because it's a JPEG.
But your image should also be deleted now, because there is now a vector version that scales better and has transparency. None of the logos (old or new) are free, and unused ones will be deleted.
In any case, thanks for letting me know about the rebranding, because I was not aware. Rest assured that I do know what the new logo looks like. I also explained in the description why I chose the vertical version this time (I should've used the vertical version for the old logo as well).  Andreyyshore 🆃︎ 🅲︎  14:08, 15 October 2023 (UTC)
Okay, thanks Andreyyshore. I cleared my cache and it is displaying the correct logo now, and I've read your explanation. All good! Laterthanyouthink (talk) 09:25, 16 October 2023 (UTC)

Bruce Dern's age English page

I saw his age displayed on the French, German, Spanish and other language Wikis so I felt like adding it to the English Wiki was a good idea since his new movie was just released and every bio page on the internet I googled displays his age. Sorry for doing a bad since you removed it straight away. 77.22.193.35 (talk) 02:13, 23 October 2023 (UTC)

No worries - but English Wikipedia is very strict on WP:DOB - there must be independent reliable sources verifying it. If there are such sources on the other language wikis, feel free to use them (or discuss on the talk page of the article). Laterthanyouthink (talk) 02:17, 23 October 2023 (UTC)

Corin

Sorry. I found a passing reference to this individual. I guess we will have to agree to disagree re notability. Google search didn't have much reliable biographic material except this, for whatever it's worth. 65.88.88.56 (talk) 22:46, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
Re disambiguation page redlinks, before you start blocking me, you are going back into edits I made that you admitted were good faith. If you want, I'll revert them if you insist. I disagree re notability but if there are any other contentious ones please let me know. 65.88.88.56 (talk) 22:53, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
Okay, fair enough, I will remove the warnings - but you need to become more familiar with Wikipedia rules and guidelines re WP:DAB and WP:SETINDEX pages. You can use the notability argument re the WP:REDLINKS if they are doubtful and remove them if you feel strongly enough, but it is not helpful to remove the name entries from the page altogether. These pages are there to help guide the user to people with these names or topics (who/which may or may not be notable enough for an article now or in the future). You need to have a very good reason to remove any content from articles. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 23:51, 1 November 2023 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Seraphim (disambigation)

A tag has been placed on Seraphim (disambigation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a recently created redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer, or other unlikely search term.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Dsuke1998AEOS (talk) 10:27, 9 November 2023 (UTC)

Ah, no worries Dsuke1998AEOS - I didn't spot the spelling error at first! Laterthanyouthink (talk) 23:38, 9 November 2023 (UTC)

Institute of Contemporary Art disambiguation

Hi! Can you please elaborate on the reason for this undo: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Institute_of_Contemporary_Art&oldid=prev&diff=1178283463

You wrote "WP:DAB entries have blue links only, no citations":

  • Does that mean that I cannot add red links to a disambiguation page?
  • Sorry, I can't spend the time to create pages for these extra Institutes of Contemporary Art that I have found
  • Isn't it a worthy contribution that I've listed them as red links, with a citation of the website, so that other contributors can pick up and add them as pages?

I'm pretty sure I've seen red links on disambiguation pages before, but don't know how to find such...

Cheers! Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 09:59, 18 November 2023 (UTC)

Hi Vladimir Alexiev. Per WP:DAB and MOS:DAB, disambiguation pages are intended to direct readers to appropriate articles where the titles are ambiguous or used for many places, people, or things - they are not intended to supply information and therefore don't include citations or non-essential information. WP:RED LINKs are allowed if there is also a blue link which targets an appropriate article and they are likely candidates for a future artcle. In this case, I have found some basic information on the two ICAs you had added, and added them to articles which seemed appropriate (although a belated thought is that the Chattanooga one could be included in the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga article rather than where I put it, but I'm not going back there now). This saves the added time and effort of creating a whole new article, but does allow the reader to find them if they're looking for them. Have a look at what I've done and if you have any further questions, feel free to ask. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 02:45, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
You've kept the red links and added blue links, but deleted the references. This means that the any creator of a future Wikipedia page or respective Wikidata item will have to find them anew Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 23:13, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
Vladimir Alexiev Yes, that is how WP:DABs are meant to be. I added the ICA San Diego to the article on San Diego, with a link from the DAB which is targeted precisely to the section where it is mentioned, with citations following. If anyone wants to create a new article, the refs are there. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 23:40, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
thanks!! I got it.
Now i wish someone would make a Wikidata item, and mark it "different from"
Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego and
San Diego Museum of Art 😀 Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 23:49, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
No worries. Ah - yes, I see how that would be helpful. I'm afraid I cannot help you there as I haven't had much to do with Wikidata. All the best. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 00:21, 30 January 2024 (UTC)

Mark Sheppard: DOB

I am not sure if your edit removing Mark Sheppard's Date of Birth 12/04/2023 was warranted. IMDB confirms the date of May 30th 1964, a brief internet search doesn't show any conflicting dates. What type of source would be satisfactory to confirm a DOB in this situation? LienEmpire (talk) 04:32, 15 December 2023 (UTC)

Please check the reliability of the sources you intend to use

Re: Ingeborga Dapkūnaitė (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) and Donald Faison (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views), please be far more careful, especially in BLPs that require high-quality sources. Thank you. --Hipal (talk) 18:48, 6 February 2024 (UTC)

I'm usually pretty careful - can you be more specific about particular sources? Laterthanyouthink (talk) 22:07, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
See my edit summaries in the articles' histories. --Hipal (talk) 03:21, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
Looking at both of those, the completely uncited DOBs had existed in the articles for a long time before I got there, so I went looking to see if there were any sources to verify the dates that somebody else had added, and they were the best I could find at the time. I quite often remove DOBs that are not cited, as it happens, which is probably what should happen to these. In the case of Faison, you left his DOB uncited again. I went looking for an archived version of the TV guide source that included his DOB, and added that to the citation. However I'm not convinced that that passes WP:DOB either, because it's only one slightly obscure source. Also, IMO these matters are better discussed on the article talk page rather than posting a castigation on my talk page that is not specific, so that other editors can get involved. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 05:14, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
I simply removed the unreliable sources, assuming that in these BLPs that editors would simply remove unverified information.
Apologies for how I notified you of the problems. As long as we agree that they're unreliable, I think it best to move on. --Hipal (talk) 17:48, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
@Hipal Sure, no worries. Thanks for your reply. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 21:24, 7 February 2024 (UTC)

Would you like to join WikiProject Australian television?

Hi Laterthanyouthink, our group, WikiProject Australian television, is currently recruiting additional editors to help edit the large project that is Australian TV. I was wondering whether you might consider joining us, since you work on Australian- and TV-related articles anyway. If you are interested, please add your name to the list of active participants, and see our list of open tasks. All the best, Lotsw73 (talk) 13:41, 23 February 2024 (UTC)

Sure, I can add my name and contribute occasionally. I do cover quite a lot of topics in my editing, so won't be exclusively concentrating on TV though. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 01:54, 24 February 2024 (UTC)

Brussels

Hi Laterthanyouthink, regarding your latest edit on Brussels, although I fully agree with WP:IMAGELOCATION, it clearly states that most NOT all images should be on the right side of the page. In this case, I believe your change worsens the article's layout by visually grouping many images below what they actually illustrate in several sections (e.g. some relevant to 'History' are now aligned with the text on 'Geography', 'Religion' with 'Architecture', etc.), and by also creating unnecessary white space (cf. 'Transport'). Overall, this makes the article less clear for the reader, in my opinion, which differs from WP:IMAGELOCATION's original intention with this rule. So my question is: why arbitrarily change the display of all pictures on an article that has been stable in that regard since 2018? Perhaps trimming their overall number could be a solution to this? Jason Lagos (talk) 14:10, 15 March 2024 (UTC)

Hi Jason Lagos, and thanks for your note. It depends how you are viewing the article (I see none of the issues you mention), but I'm going to take this to the article talk page so that other editors can contribute to the discussion if they wish. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 23:27, 15 March 2024 (UTC)

Given that these are all theatres, it's would be possible to set this up as a SIA, but on balance I agree that having it as a dab works better.

Klbrain thanks. I haven't completed the list yet. I went that way after having come across articles mentioning "Stadttheater" with no qualifier - but I suppose an SIA would allow an opening paragraph with refs to explain the concept. Going through my edits and reversing them

I will add citations when I get time, thanks for noticing my efforts. Note that its fairly easy to google scholar anything and find a random citation, so I think you might consider reducing weight on citations and give more value to the logic being proposed. But I will include citations as demanded by Wikipedia. Eucrm (talk) 10:10, 9 May 2024 (UTC)

I've added a welcome panel to your talk page. You would do well to follow the links and understand the guidelines and rules of editing Wikipedia. It's nothing personal, but regardless of how much info is available via Google Scholar (or any reliable source), or how logical it is, editors cannot just write what they think they know off the top of their head. See WP:OR. We have to first consult sources, then paraphrase, and then cite the sources, otherwise everything on Wikipedia is devalued. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 10:32, 9 May 2024 (UTC)
Ok that's fine, and I am happy to do better, but I was in the middle of adding citations and editing, and you've removed my work. So that effort is lost. Eucrm (talk) 10:54, 9 May 2024 (UTC)

I need your help (can Rotten Tomatoes be used for both info)

I’m trying to edit the page Emily Alyn Lind her birthday is May 6, 2002 as stated on Rotten Tomatoes and IMBD I’m being blocked by User:Geraldo Perez you told me awhile ago Rotten Tomatoes was okay Tnays20 (talk) 22:16, 17 July 2024 (UTC)

@Tnays20 IMDB is not a reliable source, but I remember an earlier talk page discussion about RT bios where the editors concerned agreed that it was acceptable for DOB. I have added some notes and other sources on the talk page of the article, so you can use those sources and/or discuss it further there. (I'm away from home at the moment with only intermittent reception so not doing much editing.) Laterthanyouthink (talk) 23:08, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
Could write this on Geraldo Perez’s talk page please. Tnays20 (talk) 23:12, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
I need your help can you forward this info to Geraldo Perez’s (talk) page cuz he didn’t get the update that RT bios were ok. Tnays20 (talk) 23:18, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
I’m sorry but this guy is being an asshole and he said this about you:Basically he's wrong and I gave enough info on the article talk page to back up that statement. Geraldo Perez (talk) 23:23, 17 July 2024 (UTC) Tnays20 (talk) 23:26, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
@Tnays20 Sorry, but the article talk page is where discussion about articles should take place. I don't have time now, and I am not a great proponent of publishing living people's DOBs unless they are widely available (per WP:DOB) anyway. It's not worth edit-warring about. Linda Burney - qualifying claims

Hi, You reverted edits which qualified claims as to the subject being "the first" Aboriginal in various achievements. Such claims, based on ancestry, have invariably come undone to the detriment of the person and the achievements sought to be recognized, as true ancestry is often unknown. The example of Iceland which sold the DNA records of its population only to find so many were not descendant from whom they thought, in a country with strict legal primogeniture inheritance. Unfortunately, many people hid their Aboriginality or simply did not know of their Aboriginal ancestry. There are growing numbers of cases of people, having found out they are of Aboriginal descent, some now told openly within families, some by DNA tests, realizing that their relatives made achievements claimed by or for others before those prominently claimed. The result has been accusations of fraud and grandstanding and ridicule against the very people who had been claimed to be "the first" at great detriment to them, their real achievements and causes. If qualified, any blame falls only on the sources who made the claim, not the subject. In this case, the sources, while published, are not based on proper research and are merely claims. My ancestor and their siblings were born on what became a goldfield of tents and slab huts but published accounts, which have been repeated in further publications, wrongly claimed two younger children of settlers were the first born. Some counted, some didn't! The qualifications were added to protect the subject. 115.42.10.182 (talk) 03:05, 26 July 2024 (UTC)

As I wrote on your talk page, you can raise such concerns on the article talk page, instead of edit-warring. However I see that the matter has been resolved by another editor who has removed your unnecessary additions, which contravened several basic principles of Wikipedia, including WP:FORUM. We use what reliable sources report. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 01:13, 27 July 2024 (UTC)

Wikiproject

Hi, I see you've contributed a lot to Aboriginal Australians, would you be interested in a taskforce on oral tradition? Kowal2701 (talk) 20:10, 26 July 2024 (UTC)

Possibly as a contributor, if you and/or others driving it explain what its mission would be. As I like to edit across a wide range of topics, I have no wish to confine myself to a single focus for any length of time though. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 01:16, 27 July 2024 (UTC)
It would be on cleaning up/improving existing articles, expanding existing articles, and creating articles involving oral tradition. I’d like to have useful sources on the main page for people interested but unfamiliar. Also I’d like to have objectives similar to the ones at WP:Military history with progress bars. You can see the proposal at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Council#New proposals Kowal2701 (talk) 07:59, 27 July 2024 (UTC)

ITN recognition for Edna O'Brien

On 31 July 2024, In the news was updated with an item that involved the article Edna O'Brien, which you updated. If you know of another recently created or updated article suitable for inclusion in ITN, please suggest it on the candidates page. —Bagumba (talk) 19:58, 31 July 2024 (UTC)

The article Australian rules football records at the Adelaide Oval has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unclear why these records per location would be a notable subject, seems to be a list of statistics without good sources indicating that this meets WP:NLIST as a topic that has received attention as a group.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Fram (talk) 09:18, 2 August 2024 (UTC)

@Fram I don't actually care about the article, but I hived it off from the Adelaide Oval article because that article was too long and cluttered with lists and tables. Presumably someone is interested in recording and reading these things. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 09:54, 2 August 2024 (UTC)

Requesting some copy edit help

Greetings @Laterthanyouthink

Hi, I am User:Bookku, On Wikipedia I engage in, finding information and knowledge gap areas in Wikipedia and promoting expansion of related drafts and articles. Came across your edit at India Habitat Centre (Xtools).

Requesting you to visit Draft:Rabindra Rangshala (tentatively planned to release as stub) and help it's copy edit if the topic would interest you. Bookku (talk) 06:55, 28 August 2024 (UTC)

Over-capitalized ref titles needing cleanup

I noticed that your reference titles are sometimes linked through over-capitalized redirects. E.g. linking to The Australasian Sketcher With Pen And Pencil in this edit and in this edit. And to The Mount Barker Courier And Onkaparinga And Gumeracha Advertiser in this edit. You can find more via the report at Wikipedia:Database reports/Linked miscapitalizations. If you can do some work cleaning up after yourself, I won't have to do it. Dicklyon (talk) 04:01, 2 September 2024 (UTC)

Yes, Trove often does that in its formatted citations, and the article titles are often capitalised. I do actually clean them up most of the time, quite often editing the article text in Trove at the same time - but sometimes in a rush, don't always have time. I didn't think it was that serious, but will have a look at the list. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 05:17, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
Not serious exactly, but we tend to get a few of these Trove links per week (not just from you) in that report, along with various other classes of overcapped stuff. I'm not able to keep up. Dicklyon (talk) 05:41, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
Okay, sure. I didn't realise that they turned up on a report. It must be annoying. I'll pay more attention next time I see one. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 06:17, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
FYI, I went in and fixed quite a few from that list, which should drop off the list tomorrow, I hope. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 07:29, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
Thanks, I appreciate the help! Dicklyon (talk) 17:16, 2 September 2024 (UTC)

Succession of Rupert Murdoch

Hello, Laterthanyouthink,

You created an orphaned talk page asking for this article not to be deleted but it was just moved to Draft space. You have been editing Wikipedia for years so I assume you know about submitting a draft to WP:AFC. Or you could contact whichever editor or admin draftified the article and discuss the situation with them. But please do not create orphaned talk pages because they are just deleted via speedy deletion, CSD G8, and the editor who moved the article will never see your message. Liz Read! Talk! 03:25, 22 September 2024 (UTC)

@Liz yes, thanks for that - I realised after posting (although still not sure what the original issue was). I've commented on the draft talk page and when I have more time will probably be adding to the article. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 03:57, 22 September 2024 (UTC)

Kylah Day moved to draftspace

Thanks for your contributions to Kylah Day. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. GMH Melbourne (talk) 01:24, 23 September 2024 (UTC)

The article is fully sourced. She is a young actress who is about to get massive exposure in the upcoming Netflix series Territory. I would suggest that it would be more constructive to move it back to mainspace and allow it to grow there. It will get lost as a draft. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 01:28, 23 September 2024 (UTC)
Belated reply - as you will have seen, someone else has moved it back to mainspace now anyway. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 08:47, 29 September 2024 (UTC)
