MySpace reversion
editThis edit doesn't seem to be vandalism; MySpace is similar to Kazaa and Limewire in some ways. Just because an IP contributed doesn't mean it's vandalism ;) -M o P 19:20, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
No, but this does and I didn't spend a lot of time checking again when the same IP edited again just minutes later. —Preceding unsigned comment added by SnappingTurtle (talk • contribs) 19:44 15 March 2006 (UTC)

editMaster of Puppets, now wikipedia is looking more familiar to me. I think there is more need to publicise Wikipedia:Esperanza. Thanks again Shyam (T/C) 23:20, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
Graphics and stuff
editHm, actually, I have a specific graphic that I like to use on the 'net, though I hadn't thought about posting it here. This is what I usually use in various places. It's kind of like my symbol; I use it as a PS brush to sign my art as well. What is the automatic status changer? I am curious. I wouldn't mind having more on my userpage. I'm not well versed in Wiki graphic design though. Also, your "M" completely blends into your orange background on your userpage in case you didn't know. Makes you look half invisible! Thanks again for the kind offers :) FAE 23:25, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
- Tricksy camouflage! Hey, that's really spiffy! I tried to cobble together a poor little table to hold it in, haha. Thanks so much! And I just got the joke behind your Mop userbox ;p FAE 03:14, 16 March 2006 (UTC)

- My first pseudo-barnstar! I'll wear the badge proudly, as I've been a night owl all my life. I'm horribly addicted to the internet, and that fact on top of my propensity for late nights makes for lots of Wiki-ing. Thanks so much :) FAE 07:31, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

Have you actually looked at that page? It looks totally horrible with the images, which have not even been properly floated. Resident Evil (old disambig) does indeed look horrible as well. Generally even links like Wes Craven are being discouraged. You might find Wikipedia:Disambiguation interesting. Morwen - Talk 14:01, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
- Star Wars isn't a disambiguation page, but a lengthy topic covering all aspects of the franchise. I don't think there's enough material to warrant three articles on the Hills Have Eyes, but wouldn't object to the original and the remake being merged into a single The Hills Have Eyes article. Of course, that's not usually how things work. Morwen - Talk 14:12, 16 March 2006 (UTC)

- Hmm yes, it's fine with me. Of course there is no guarantee a certain admin is going to be online, so there's no guarantee of a quick response. You could always try posting at WP:AIV, which is patrolled by several admins and is more likely to get a quicker response. — FireFox • T [21:17, 16 March 2006]

Tawkerbot2
editWell, it only catches the obvious stuff thats either watched or on a blacklist or big enough to be noticed (which is still some 60% or so of the vandalism so I guess its a lot), I don't think it will never replace humans for a couple big reasons, first, it can't block (and it never will, well, maybe it might block mass open proxy vandals, although technically its no problems the bots filters are not perfect and blocking on a set of patterns really doesn't make me terribly comfy. The second big one is, it only reverts once (normally) and it won't fix it if they vandalize again. All it can do is hopefully demoralize vandals (which would be a good thing IMO) and keep the obvious junk out. Thanks for the barnstar by the way :) -- Tawker 03:53, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the warm Esperanza welcome
editAnd, regarding your offer to redo the userboxes, thank you. BTW, do they look bad to you? I have my screen;s resolution way up, but with a lower resolution (say 800x600) I guess that they could look bad. So, feel free to use the UBs on my page. You'll see some are subst'd. I'm quite excited to see what you'll do with them. And, oh, you asked for a list of which UBs...Lets start with the ones currently on the page. And, BTW, Esperanza just made my day (actually, night). Thank you so much, -Reuvenk[T][C] 05:26, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, I've seen the UBs stacked in IE - I use firefox, and don't have problems. I dont think that I want to stack them, lets leave them as is for now, maybe I can work out the problem. BTW, quick question: should I reply here, or on my talk page? Whats proper (/good etiquette)? And I would be interested in using the online/offline thing (I saw it on your user page), but I'll have to contact you later, as i've got to get going. Anyway, nice meeting you. TTYL, -Reuvenk[T][C] 05:36, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
- So that's what I'll do. -Reuvenk[T][C] 05:40, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
BTW, are you really 14 years old?!?! (Your userpage says so) -Reuvenk[T][C] 05:53, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
- Clearly, I dont hold your age against you (I'm only 17). I'm amazed though that a fourteen year old turned out to be as polite/helpful/knowledgeable as you are. OK, its 1 AM, so I'm going to bed.-Reuvenk[T][C] 05:59, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
- I installed the online/offline thing and added it to my userpage. Thanks. And see the list of welcomes in other languages. -Reuvenk[T][C] 19:27, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
Quite a generous offer for the image - how do you have so much time for Wikipedia? And BTW, I love lego, so that might be a place to start. Thanks, -Reuvenk[T][C] 06:15, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

Blocked IP
editHi. User:67.71.142.204 has already been blocked (Special:Log/block&page=User:67.71.142.204). Posting on their own talk page is not circumventing the ban, it's a feature of Mediawiki. Banned users are allowed to edit their own talk pages so that they can, for example, appeal against the block. Of course in serious cases, or if offensive/attacking material is posted there the page can be protected. --kingboyk 18:46, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
- Gosh, no need to apologise! I was just letting you know for future information and a bit of reassurance. Thanks for your comments on the colour scheme, it's lovely isn't it! (I can say that, as it's not my work). --kingboyk 18:56, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

- See Wikipedia:Long term abuse/Squidward:
- This person uses open proxies to vandalize seemingly random articles, replacing article content with a picture of Squidward and the edit summary "SQUIDWARD!" Attacks are coordinated, with multiple IPs making rapid edits almost simultaneously.
- Such IPs are to be blocked indefinitely on sight. Sango123 (e) 19:09, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, definitely. The IP's he used have been blocked 48 hours each, with few warnings. Sango123 (e) 19:18, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

editI appreciate the compliment, what I meant was fighting about pointless topics. Userbox war anyone? I know this might sound rude, but if the community did not fight, I don't think ArbCom would have been created yet. Maybe sooner or later it would have to be, to deal with trolls. Remaining an anon is just the way I prefer things for now. Thanks again for the comment. 68.73.153.146 19:51, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

editYeah, what I ultimately want to do is have about more informative lists. For the Sith, I'd like to see something like List of minor Star Wars Jedi masters or somethng. We've already made several lists, and the sith are next on the list ^_^ — Deckiller 03:29, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

- Well, it depends on the amount of information you have on the subject. I say yes if you have. But otherwise, it should be added to one of the lists. I suggest that you first make a subpage and write the article on it, and then we'll look over it and tell ya what we think. The Wookieepedian 04:12, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

Vibroblade/vibrosword
editI personally don't mind having a branchoff as long as it's general, but the last time we had seperate weapon articles (I.E. Clone Weaponry) people re-merged it. I don't mind either way though, but perhaps we should discuss the matter on the talkpage. — Deckiller 03:41, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
Re: Cheating
editHey, it's all good. You don't know this yet, but the only reason I have a status page is because I have both your's and Moe Epsilon's talk pages on my watch list, and I noticed the exchange between the two of you concerning status pages. I steal everything that's good and on my user page. Cheers. tv316 04:13, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the open invite. I 'stalk' pretty much everyone here. If I interact with you once, I don't remove your page from my watchlist. Also, people I see around this place and respect, usually get added. Especially vandal fighters, so when a vandal gets antsy on their pages, I can revert it quickly. tv316 04:31, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
- In that case, we're a lot alike. I don't know anything, so I couldn't write an article even if it meant losing my beloved rollback button. I stick to what I know, and that's reverting vandalism, and recently, fixing spelling in articles. You'd be surprised how many random spelling errors there are hidden in this place. And if you're not yet asleep from that, I'll tell you about my fabulous paint drying adventures. Little known fact: Canadian paint freezes before it dries. tv316 04:44, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

WP:AIV
editThanks for taking note of the WP:AIV notice. To clarify, one of the articles is legit, which should be entitled Tricks of the Windows Game Programming Gurus. Because of vandalism, and the well-intentioned mismove of another editor, two other articles exist related to the vandalism that need to be deleted: Nathan Sean MetcalfeTricks of the Windows Game Programming Gurus and Nathan Sean Metcalfe. The content, in its unvandalized form, belongs with the first article. Check the edit histories for some history, if you need, and gimme a holler if there's anything else. Thanks. Tijuana Brass 06:03, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
- Arg... you got the save and delete ones mixed up... I hate vandals. The now-deleted Nathan Sean MetcalfeTricks of the Windows Game Programming Gurus contained the edit histories since the article's creation and was the one to be saved. The current Tricks of the Windows Programming Gurus is a copy and paste version that should've been trashed. And Nathan Sean Metcalfe has nothing to do with the article at all except for being the target of the vandal's harassment; I could show you some of the past edits wherein the vandal has named this individual, except they're now deleted. Tijuana Brass 06:12, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
- And while we're at it, User:Dead-man-walking is the name the vandal finally decided to create. I'd suggest indefinitely blocking him, as he's vandalized for over three months now without showing any intention of stopping. Tijuana Brass 06:13, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
There's plenty of reason to block him -- it's clearly a sock of the guy who's been vandalizing the article for months. But again, while your corrections were, of course, done with the best intentions, you tagged the wrong article for a speedy, and now the edit history is gone -- along with the means for me to show you past edits by the user, at least until it's restored. Tijuana Brass 06:22, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
- It's an understandable mistake. Because either the vandal, User:Dead-man-walking, or the editor who tried to correct him, User:Attakmint, did a cut-and-paste, the article with the history was the one deleted, and the existing one is actually the new article. It's an oversight I would have made as well, since one may not typically think to check the histories of mirrored articles before listing one for deletion... but it does mean that we need to move the issue to WP:DRV. Tijuana Brass 06:29, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
- I appreciate the assistance, but I'm not sure if I agree with your assessment. In the past three months, he's vandalized this article well over 30 times. And in any case, if an article has been erroneously deleted, it needs to be restored. I'd rather you list it at WP:DRV, given that you have more experience than I do (and deleted it, after all), but I don't think brushing it aside with the hope that a persistent vandal will "give up" is the best thing to do. Tijuana Brass 06:35, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
Heh, believe me, the Esperanza tag on your sig gets my vote of confidence any day, as far as being an agreeable editor. Let me suggest something easier for both of us... tagging the article with a Watch. I'd be on him being back within two weeks. I suppose I'm grateful it's always just a simple revert to fix things. Thanks for the late-night dialogue... gave me something to do. Tijuana Brass 06:43, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
- The advice was welcome. Besides, I'm procastinating too. ...and I love coffee. Tijuana Brass 06:52, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
Wampus cat
editello there, Ms.Kahn. I was just wondering if I may ask about an issue I have with you; it is concerning the article Wampus cat.
- Hello, First why do have an issue with me, I do not think we have interacted before? Second, although I do not live in any of the US states mentioned in the article I am fairly certain that this article is totally bogus. Surely it would have come up in biology 101. I was unaware of the article and to my knowledge have never edited it. Thanks.--Dakota ~ ° 07:42, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
- Hi again. I've got it from a high authority (I am at work right now) from a co-worker who is from Georgia ( a state mentioned as a habitat if this bogus creature) that this is bull and he has never heard of it. It is a non existant creature. I would do a db-nonsense or whatever template fits it. I will do the honors if you should wish. Thanks--Dakota ~ ° 07:55, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

- In answer to your last question, no. It is a school stub and I have never seen one deleted myself. BTW (Something made up in school one day [1]. It must be some sort of mythological school mascot. One of the high schools I attended had a Dragon for a mascot. At any rate that article was so totally bogus. Would not be surprised to see it comeback. Thanks.--Dakota ~ ° 09:00, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

McDonald's
editCertainly my mistake, though I always look at the differences. An IP changed McDonald's to McPoopies, then a different IP in the same range changed it to Mcdonald's (Note the lower-case D). In my haste to fix that, I failed to note that the IPs were different: I thought I was rolling back both changes. Thanks for catching it. —Bunchofgrapes (talk) 19:02, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
