On 4 January 2016, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Jif (lemon juice), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the lemon-shaped container for Jif lemon juice was one of the first blow molded polythene containers used for food applications? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Jif (lemon juice). You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. |

About Plz/TaylorMoore2
Northamerica1000, just so you know: TaylorMoore2 was Plz's original account name, before it was renamed to Plz on January 9, two days prior to its block. While renaming changes the entire editing history to reflect the new name, places where the name is hardcoded, such as in a DYK nomination, don't change. So it's possible for the "created by" credit (and DYKmake, for that matter) to reflect the old name while the article history shows the new name. TaylorMoore2 actually did edit the article.
In this case, since Plz has been blocked for sockpuppeting, I do support your closure of DLOW. BlueMoonset (talk) 18:24, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
- Hi BlueMoonset I have modified the rationale at Template:Did you know nominations/DLOW. One thing though, is that moving user pages typically does not rename the user, it only moves the page. It's unclear if the user requested a name change, such as at Global user account rename request. The User talk:TaylorMoore2 talk page was moved by Steinsplitter (see Revision history), and the page User:TaylorMoore2 was never created. At this point, it seems acceptable for the nomination to be declined due to socking. North America1000 06:32, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
Meat stall painting
I noticed your post regarding this FP on Haffy's talk.
I asked Hafs about the sign, and he sent the explanation at left:
(The unit of area probably should be translated as rood, not rod.)
I don't see how this could be interpreted as "a warning to society at that time." Sca (talk) 15:38, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Sca: I based the wording in A Meat Stall with the Holy Family Giving Alms on what the source (listed below) from The Burlington Magazine states. The notion above about the term rood being meant could very well be the case, whereby a typo exists in the source. We typically need to go with what reliable sources state, though. Regarding the "warning to society" matter, information about this is in the source. North America1000 15:49, 12 January 2016 (UTC)

- It seems to me that the content of the painting, specifically the meaning of the sign, is the original 'source.' Houghton, the RS cited, is debatable at best. I suggest that bit be left out. Sca (talk) 16:07, 12 January 2016 (UTC)

- Done, to a limited extent. Upon reconsideration, I'm backing off on my questioning of Houghton, for now anyway. Sca (talk) 16:44, 12 January 2016 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Lisa Adams
Hello Northamerica1000, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Lisa Adams, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: I'll move the other article to this, it doesn't need its qualifier. . You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. GedUK 13:35, 14 January 2016 (UTC)

Unlocking Bart Baker for creation
The article name, Bart Baker, is currently locked from creation. I have a brand new article for it and wish to move it to the main space. Unfortunately, because of this, I can't, so may you please unblock it for me? Thanks! By the way, my article is in my sandbox, User:FiendYT/sandbox. FiendYT 07:03, 7 January 2016 (UTC)
- Hi @FiendYT: Articles for Bart Baker have been deleted many times, including twice at AfD (1, 2), so I can't simply circumvent consensus. Click on this red link for Bart Baker for a summary of article deletions that have occurred.
- I recommend that you submit this to Articles for creation, where your submission can be reviewed. An easy way to do this is to place {{Userspace draft}} atop the draft page and then select the "Submit your draft for review" link. North America1000 17:59, 7 January 2016 (UTC)

WikiProject X Newsletter • Issue 6
Hello there! Happy to be writing this newsletter once more. This month:
Some good news: the Wikimedia Foundation has renewed WikiProject X. This means we can continue focusing on making WikiProjects better.
During our first round of work, we created a prototype WikiProject based on two ideas: (1) WikiProjects should clearly present things for people to do, and (2) The content of WikiProjects should be automated as much as possible. We launched pilots, and for the most part it works. But this approach will not work for the long term. While it makes certain aspects of running a WikiProject easier, it makes the maintenance aspects harder.
We are working on a major overhaul that will address these issues. New features will include:
- Creating WikiProjects by simply filling out a form, choosing which reports you want to generate for your project. This will work with existing bots in addition to the Reports Bot reports. (Of course, you can also have sections curated by humans.)
- One-click button to join a WikiProject, with optional notifications.
- Be able to define your WikiProject's scope within the WikiProject itself by listing relevant pages and categories, eliminating the need to tag every talk page with a banner. (You will still be allowed to do that, of course. It just won't be required.)
The end goal is a collaboration tool that can be used by WikiProjects but also by any edit-a-thon or group of people that want to coordinate on improving articles. Though implemented as an extension, the underlying content will be wikitext, meaning that you can continue to use categories, templates, and other features as you normally would.
This will take a lot of work, and we are just getting started. What would you like to see? I invite you to discuss on our talk page.
Until next time,

Antarctica PRODs
Sorry I initiated the wrong procedure on them. I can go ahead and close them all as speedy keep, and save you the trouble.
- @Jsharpminor: Several of the articles listed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Landy Ice Rises you created to not have the AfD template atop the articles to notify readers about the deletion nomination. How do you want to proceed regarding these matters? North America1000 21:28, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
- All of them had their own AfD notices and even pages. I was in the process of combining them into one AfD under Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Landy Ice Rises when you started closing the discussions. I'm going to close each of the discussions and restart, proposing merges as appropriate rather than outright deletion. J♯m (talk | contribs) 21:33, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Jsharpminor: Thanks for the reply. In the event you're not aware of this, merge discussions are typically performed on article talk pages, rather than at AfD. Cheers, North America1000 21:36, 19 January 2016 (UTC)

Completely False Article Frederick Achom
Hello,
I would like to draw your attention to this wikipedia article Frederick Achom, at first look it looks like a good article, but it hides most of the real information. If you see article's history you will see that it has been under several editing wars. Almost all claims made in the article are supported in the article are made using own links or PR releases. Also the links which seem genuine like London's 1000 most influential people 2010: Night OwlsLondon's 1000 most influential people 2011: Night Owls have many things wrong in them- they claim to be 1000 but not more than 6 are present; they have no author. They are off the website but somehow have crept into the website. There are many such cases in this wiki article.
Frederick Achom is using his wiki article to show potential investors how great he is by supplying all false information and duping them of money. He has been previously convicted and jailed which was earlier in the article but now has somehow disappeared. [5] [6]
I hope you will understand the gravity of the situation and help in rectifying by either getting the page deleted or corrected.
Thank You. NihartouJason (talk) 04:31, 14 January 2016 (UTC)
- @NihartouJason: I may not involve myself in this matter. I recommend continuing to discuss the matter with interested editors on the talk page, as is presently occurring. North America1000 14:10, 14 January 2016 (UTC)

Recent changes
- You can now follow when pages are added or removed from a category on German Wikipedia. The plan is to add it to Wikimedia Commons and other Wikipedias this week. [9][10]
- Administrators can hide individual entries of a page with RevisionDelete. There is now a button to choose "all", "none" or "inverse" in Special:Log. The article history will get the same buttons soon. Wikis that have done this locally with JavaScript will be able to remove that code. [11]
Changes this week
- You will be able to see the references when you preview a section you are editing. This will happen even if there is no <references /> tag in that section. [12]
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 26 January. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 27 January. It will be on all wikis from 28 January (calendar).
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the VisualEditor team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 26 January at 20:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- There is now an extension called ArticlePlaceholder. It can automatically generate content on Wikipedia with data from Wikidata if there is no Wikipedia article. It will have a tag to remind the reader it is not an article and ask the reader to create one. The developer is now looking for smaller Wikipedias that want to try the extension. [13]
- The OTRS system will be upgraded. The plan is to do this on 3 February at 08:00 (UTC). It will probably take 6 to 8 hours. OTRS will be down during the upgrade. [14]
- Users will soon be automatically congratulated when they reach some edit count milestones. [15]

Thanks for your efforts on Sandella's
I noticed you spent some substantial time doing cleanup and anchoring the pagespace with citation and links. Perhaps if I'd followed through in a similar way after the first AFD the page wouldn't have faced a second process. Your pagework after the close makes it quite unlikely the pagespace will ever find itself nominated for a third deletion procedure. Thanks again. I appreciate your efforts and very much enjoy your collegiality. BusterD (talk) 12:47, 18 January 2016 (UTC)
- @BusterD: Thanks. I'm pretty good with the food/company/organization articles. One just has to go through the steps to improve them, which takes time. Thanks again, and feel free to keep in touch. North America1000 13:40, 18 January 2016 (UTC)
According to Wikipedia:Deletion_review#Instructions I should ask you about this first. July 13 at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Mike_Cernovich you chose a 'delete' result. The first 5 people talking there focused on Cernovich's involvement with Gamergate being the only notable thing about him.
While that may have been the case at the time (not to say it was, just that I don't know enough about him to say otherwise) some recent events may have changed this situation.
During September 2015, Cernovich became embroiled in a Twitter war with celebrity Seth Rogan, as seen here. Apparently Rogan's wife Lauren Miller got involved (as seen in this archive), which led to October and November articles from Cernovich, and coverage by the Return of Kings news site also in November.
Since this is a separate incident involving him with 2 celebrities I am wondering if it would qualify the article to exist now as it has increased his notability. Ranze (talk) 05:11, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Ranze: I recommend that you submit a revised article with the content you mention above to Articles for creation, where your submission can be reviewed. An easy way to do this is to place {{Userspace draft}} atop the draft page and then select the "Submit your draft for review" link. North America1000 00:10, 18 January 2016 (UTC)

The "Show preview" button
Hi!
- I noticed your work on List of Google easter eggs required a great number of edits.
- Are you aware that you can see a preview of the work you're doing (to check everything looks good, and check spellings and punctuation etc.) before submitting the work as a finished draft?
- Just to the right of the Save page button, you'll see the Show preview button. By using this to check our work before saving the page, we can save a lot of space on the Wikimedia database servers, and other editors a lot of bother trying to keep track of the page history. Please try to get into the habit of using it.
Whatever you choose, happy editing! fredgandt 15:23, 30 January 2016 (UTC)

I see that you recently (a week ago) hid some log entries regarding what appears to be your own mistakes. Please note that simply the fact that you made a mistake is no reason to hide log entries; the public has the right to see your mistakes. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 08:06, 27 January 2016 (UTC)
- I've reviewed the log entries, and I agree with Od Mishehu. Please reverse yourself. I'm sure you revdeleted in good faith - removing those logs seems harmless if you can see them, and RD6's one-line summary appearing in the dropdown is actively misleading - but WP:REVDEL#Log redaction specifically prohibits this. —Cryptic 08:46, 27 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Od Mishehu and Cryptic: Thanks for the information, and I apologize for the errors. I assumed that the errors could potentially reflect negatively on the various users, which was incorrect. I have restored the following below to the Block log. The restoration is documented at the Deletion log on 09:08, 27 January 2016. North America1000 09:16, 27 January 2016 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for January 31
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Chestnut cake, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Frosting. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

House of Knowledge International School deleted page
I got into a catch 22, while creating the wikipage for House of Knowledge International School I got a notice that the article was a stub and lead missing tags, so the content from that website was added. References and more relevant information was going to be added in the coming days but the article has been deleted without the time to update the information.
The information that will be put there will be relevant as other content found in the following categories https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Education_in_Beijing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Private_schools_in_Beijing
The content provided there will help the international community looking on education alternative for international schools following the standard use int the following existing articles.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_School_of_Beijing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_International_School_of_Beijing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dulwich_College_Beijing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daystar_Academy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Etonkids_Bilingual_Kindergarten https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beijing_Huijia_Private_School https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peili_Vocational_Institute
I would like if you can help us recover the last deleted page so we can continue to create the information that will be useful for the community that is living behind a Chinese firewall and uses Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Avaldesm (talk • contribs) 01:52, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Avaldesm: I had to delete the article per WP:G12, because its content constituted copyright infringement (copyvio). As such, I cannot restore versions that had such copyvio in it. However, I provided a version of the article that was copyvio-free to your userspace at User:Avaldesm/House of Knowledge International School. I suggest working on the article in your userspace, and when it's completed, submitting it to Articles for creation, where it can be reviewed. An easy way to do this is to place {{Userspace draft}} atop the draft page when it's ready for review and then selecting the "Submit your draft for review" link.
- Also, please note that for legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. North America1000 05:46, 22 January 2016 (UTC)

Problems
- Sites with a
wikimedia.org
address were by mistake redirected to the Wikimedia Foundation wiki on 26 January. This included Meta and Wikimedia Commons. The mistake was fixed after an hour. [16] - Some users had problems logging in and out around 22 January. Bots also had problems and edit previews did not work properly. This was because of problems related to the new component SessionManager. It was undone on 23 January. [17][18]
- Because of new problems with SessionManager the latest version of MediaWiki was removed from the Wikimedia wikis again on 31 January. The new version this week will be without SessionManager. [19]
Changes this week
- The page history will get a help link. This will go to Help:Page history on Meta. Wikis can exchange it for a link to their local pages. [20]
- Notifications will only show part of a page name if it is very long. You will also have another way to mark notifications as read. [21][22]
- The Universal Language Selector input methods are now available with the visual editor. This means many who write in non-Latin scripts can now use the visual editor. [23]
- The visual editor will now give you more tools to edit tables. You can move rows and columns in a table and copy parts of tables to make new ones. You can also copy and paste more than one cell at the same time. [24][25][26]
- The visual editor has a new warning message when you leave a page you are editing without saving. Non-English wikis might need to translate it. [27][28]
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 2 February. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 3 February. It will be on all wikis from 4 February (calendar).
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the VisualEditor team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 2 February at 20:00 (UTC). See how to join.
- You can join the next meeting with the Architecture committee. The topic this week is expiring watch list entries. The meeting will be on 3 February at 22:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- The
rest.wikimedia.org
domain will be shut down. This is planned to happen in March. You should use/api/rest_v1/
at each individual project domain instead. [29]

Hello Northamerica1000,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged List of English cheeses for deletion, because it appears to duplicate an existing Wikipedia article, [[{{{article}}}]].
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. ubiquity (talk) 22:14, 2 February 2016 (UTC)
