Disambiguation link notification for August 8
editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Results of the 2020 Victorian local elections, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Peter Walsh. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Arbcom
editHave you considered WP:RFPP? If your problematic interlocutors are typically unregistered editors, page protection may be a relatively simple solution. I haven't looked deeply into the issue (and am ignorant of Australian politics), but I predict your case request will be declined as premature. Arbitration case request
editHello QLDer in NSW. I'm a member of the Arbitration Committee. I wanted to reach out because I'm closing your arbitration case request, as arbitration is not required at this stage. Arbitration on Wikipedia is a lengthy, complicated process that involves the unilateral adjudication of a dispute by an elected committee. Although the Committee's decisions can be useful to certain disputes, in many cases the actual process of arbitration is unenjoyable and time-consuming. Moreover, for most disputes the community maintains an effective set of mechanisms for reaching a compromise or resolving a grievance.
In your case, your request appears to belong first at WP:RFPP, and if you have requests that go beyond the scope of that venue, then perhaps at WP:AN or WP:ANI. An arbitration case is an unpleasant process and unsuited to this issue. A case generally takes several months and hundreds of person-hours from parties and arbitrators and focuses on issues that the community is incapable of resolving. Please see {{Arb premature}} for more information from our standard message in these cases.

Disambiguation moves
editHi there, I see that you moved Matt Flynn (Australian footballer) to Matt Flynn (Australian rules footballer). One of the guidelines for disambiguation is that it should be as concise as it needs to be to be unambiguous. Generally for Aussie rules players, we use (footballer), unless there is another footballer, then (Australian footballer) unless there is another Australian footballer (of any code, even rugby). In this case (Australian footballer) was appropriate. Many sports have their own guidelines or commonly used terms, which may not be documented, but I find browsing the relevant categories will show you what most other disambiguated pages are named. I won't move it back, but please don't move any more unless there is true ambiguity with the current name. The-Pope (talk) 14:12, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
2023 AFL Grand Final
editHi, apologies I do not mean to be rude but so you know, Wikipedia is not a live-scores app. I know this because there have been cases where live scores have been reverted with explanations saying "we are an encyclopedia, not a live scores app". I have sent you a note about a page you started
editHello, QLDer in NSW. Thank you for your work on Postcode gang. User:Vanamonde93, while examining this page as a part of our page curation process, had the following comments:
Hi QLDer, when you create a redirect such as Postcode gang, we generally encourage you to edit the target article (in this case, Gangs in Australia) to make sure it explains the term being redirected. In this case, it isn't clear why the redirect you created needs to exist, and we may need to delete it. Please see WP:R#DELETE #10.

Introduction to contentious topics
editYou have recently edited a page related to post-1992 politics of the United States and closely related people, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.
You have recently made edits related to gender-related disputes or controversies or people associated with them. This is a standard message to inform you that gender-related disputes or controversies or people associated with them is a designated contentious topic. This message does not imply that there are any issues with your editing. For more information about the contentious topics system, please see Wikipedia:Contentious topics. ––FormalDude (talk) 22:57, 19 October 2023 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Opinion polling for the 2018 Victorian state election requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://academy.financialafrik.com/the-red/victoria-state-election-results. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Attribution
editI noticed you split a lot of polling sections into their own articles (e.g. Opinion polling for the 2010 Victorian state election was split from 2010 Victorian state election). However, you need to provide attribution in your edit summary when doing so. I suggest reading Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia which has details on this. editHello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! MrFlyingPies23 (talk) 20:47, 9 November 2023 (UTC)
73.27.191.165's reverts
editHi QLDer in NSW, you seem to have made many edits like Special:Diff/1173462906, without a summary (thanks, MrFlyingPies23) and at least one time overwriting an HTML comment expressing at very least one editor's opposition to this (Special:Diff/1173467553). Please do not continue without pointing to a consensus for performing these mass changes in your edit summary. editHi, I noticed that you'd edited the infobox of Labor Left to indicate that they were centre-left to left-wing. That's previously been removed by others (not me). I'd suggest it might be a good idea to find a citation to add to that claim or someone is going to come along and move it again. If you can find an academic source that would be the best sort. editHello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

editNote that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you should review the guide to appealing blocks, and then appeal your block by submitting a request to the Unblock Ticket Request System.
