Fair use rationale for Image:Actavis-logo.gif

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Actavis-logo.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 16:14, 31 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unspecified source for Image:Actavis-logo.gif

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Actavis-logo.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:14, 31 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 16:14, 31 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:BTV-newlogo.gif

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:BTV-newlogo.gif.

Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Second Bulgarian Empire

edit

I see that you are from Bulgaria and am not sure how familiar you are with medieval Bulgarian history. The Second Bulgarian Empire made considerable territorial gains at the expense of the Latin Empire under Tsar Ivan Asen II. It exploited the chaos resulting from the Crusaders dismembering the Byzantine Empire and did occupy small areas of western Asia Minor at its peak. This was part of the strategy to encircle Constantinople and was short-lived but sufficient to credit Bulgaria with an Asian presence. Feel free to discuss this on the discussion page of the list of transcontinental empires and countries in history. Heff01 00:20, 3 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

You're right about the map link; an overlay was obviously out of whack. I'm going to look for more information and a better map of Bulgarian aggression against the Latin Empire. Meanwhile, here's a page that mentions how Ivan Asen II nearly captured Constantinople: [1] Heff01 00:27, 5 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

: )--Gligan 11:53, 10 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Dobruja map

edit

That arrow looks rather unaesthetic. Maybe you could cut some of the Eastern and Northern parts to make the highlight more visible. (I don't know if that's possible in SVG format). Maybe also a higher contrast between the two green (something like this map of Belgium). Baltaci 21:39, 30 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Great. Now it looks very nice. Thanks. The problem with the geography is that I can't find much information about the southern part of the region, and the one that I have about it is probably obsolete (because it's from books written before World War II and uses Turkish and Romanian names for the geographic features). I'll try to expand that section in a week or two. I don't know about the prose. I'm not a native speaker and I have only an average level of English. I have written only a very small part of the article, and I hope I made no serious mistakes.Baltaci 19:12, 1 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
When you're back, could you check the section about geography I wrote at User:Baltaci/Dobruja? I want to know how much of what I've wrote about Bulgarian Dobruja is still true nowadays (my oldest source was from 80 years ago). Maybe you could also suggest some newer sources (I would prefer them in one of the main Western European languages or Russian) or corrections to my style.Baltaci 20:53, 10 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Dunav Rousse logo.gif)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Dunav Rousse logo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 03:08, 4 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use Image:Georgi-Pirinski-mfa.jpg

edit

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Georgi-Pirinski-mfa.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 23:03, 20 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Kaloyan's edit war

edit

Dear Todor, please, check the article Kaloyan of Bulgaria. One fervent Romanian patriot insists on including of Romanian version of Kaloyan's name in the article. The problem is that there isn't recorded medieval Romanian form of the name of this concrete ruler, so he offers variants of the name without direct connection to the historical Kaloyan from Romanian folklore and, however irrelevant it is, from modern Romanian historiography. By the way, he did it 8 times for one day. I can't accept this behaviour as permissible. Best wishes, Jackanapes 22:52, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi, yes I gathered there were other Asenovos but I didn't know quite how to go about that part. For a moment I even confused it with Asenovgrad until its name came back into my head and I realised. What I was aiming to do was tidy the settlement section of Banat Bulgarians, which is where it all came from. I did something similar with Dragomirovo, where-by I made that page a disambiguation.

edit

- Jackanapes 22:19, 15 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Serb lands in the 9th century, mostly according to De Administrando Imperio

Emperor Dušan’s Serbia
~ 1350 AD

- Jackanapes 13:28, 16 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

П. п. 1995... - Jackanapes 13:44, 16 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

edit

To Jacskanasspes: I am not sure you grasp the definition of encyclopedia. No one is here to interview some Bulgarian or Macedonian researchers and get their opinions on articles. An encyclopedia summirizes EXISTING research into short and to the point articles. All of your diatrabe above has less to do with the actual events of this uprising, and more with the alleged bulgarian character of the perpetrators, and hence it is (mostly) irrelevant to this article. Again, this is an english-language wikipedia, and thus english-language sources, preferably from english-speaking countries should be used. You are free to use your bulgarian sources in the bulgarian wikipedia, which is, I am sure, much more to your liking. Capricornis 04:21, 1 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

- Jackanapes 08:19, 1 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Image:24-chasa-logo.gif. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Bulgarian-wine-regions-vinotocom.gif)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Bulgarian-wine-regions-vinotocom.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 14:25, 9 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I believe that when wikipedia started using the 'native language' templates they meant the current codified languages by that name

And for 'Macedonian' that would mean the current codified form in use in Republic of Macedonia. You being from Bulgaria, I am not sure if that is what you mean by having the tag that you speak 'Macedonian' as your native language. -cheers :) Capricornis 01:11, 12 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Let me guess - you're searching through all Contributors with Macedonian language. Well, I'll answer you instead of Todor as he is kind of occupied in RL at the moment. Here is what his UserPage says: 'According to Bozhinov, his mother tongue is Bulgarian, and he considers it to be the same language as Macedonian'.

It is more than clear that every single Bulgarian thinks the same so don't bother asking the others. I, myself, was thinking of putting a bunch of "I speak Dobrujan dialect, I speak Shop dialect, I speak Macedonian dialect (the official policy, remember) etc etc", but then I reconsidered. And before you say I follow your contributions - in this case I just have Todor's talk on my watchlist. Cheers :) --Laveol T 01:20, 12 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Bdz-logo.png.

Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:29, 12 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Shumensko-pivo-label.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Shumensko-pivo-label.jpg.

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 18:39, 10 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Correct - in every detail. Why do you think it has something wrong? --Laveol T 21:31, 13 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Because it does not include several areas (not quite small) to the west. --PaxEquilibrium 13:15, 19 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Errors? What do you mean? To make that map I've referred to several Bulgarian and international sources and consulted a well-known specialist on the subject. If you really think there is anything wrong with the map, please back that claim up. TodorBozhinov 09:55, 14 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well, it doesn't include many territories to the west and southwest. --PaxEquilibrium 13:15, 19 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Photoshop) --Bukkia 15:15, 28 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Bukkia 21:01, 28 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Spiffier triple crown, new awards available

The standard triple crown.

Hi, I've been sprucing up the triple crown awards. Here's the new version of the standard triple crown you've already earned. Feel free to replace your old one with this if you like the new version better. I've also introduced two new triple crown awards for editors who've done a lot of triple crown work: the Napoleonic and Alexander the Great edition awards. If you're active in a WikiProject, check out the new offer for custom WikiProject triple crowns. I'll make those upon request if five or more editors qualify. See User:Durova/Triple crown winner's circle for more information. Thanks for your hard work, and cheers! DurovaCharge! 21:58, 28 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Kaufland-logo.gif)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Kaufland-logo.gif.

Image problems

edit

Hello Todor, I came across your image upload log by chance today and found a few problems. I've tagged a couple of your older ones from 2006 as "replaceable fair use" (architecture and scenery photographs are almost always replaceable). Also, I notice you apparently uploaded quite a number from N. Gruev's site here. Unfortunately, the author states there that his images are not for commercial re-use, so we can't use them, unless you could contact him and convince him to release them under a different license (cc-by-sa or GFDL, must include license for commercial re-use). Let me know if you see a chance to get that permission from him. Fut.Perf. 16:47, 14 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

P.S. In fact, I now see the page on bg-wiki that is linked from {{NGruev}} bg:Уикипедия:Разрешения за ползване на материали/Никола Груев. That page is confusing: It states there that he licensed them under GFDL, but only for use on Wikipedia. That's a contradiction in terms. If it's for Wikipedia only, it isn't the GFDL. I can't read the original mail by him that is included in that page, can you translate? It seems that when he wrote it he may not have been aware what the GFDL actually said. This looks like one unfortunate mess to clean up. :-( Fut.Perf. 16:53, 14 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Nevermind, it seems the Gruev issue has been clarified. I'm glad, because otherwise we'd have had a carnage of image deletions... Fut.Perf. 17:21, 14 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Simeons campaigns

edit

Posdrav Todor. Since you seem to be somewhat of an expert on bulgaria's medieval history- I would like to ask you a question. I am researching Serbian history. When Simeon invaded Serbia in c. 924, do you know whether it was just central Serbia (ie Raska) that he invaded? Or did he also ivade Duklja and Zahumlje, ie all the way to the adriatic coast. I have not been able to find any obvious answer to this, as most sources just say he invaded Serbia. I did find one source stating that his westernmost border was the drina in Bosnia, and Ibar and Drin rivers in central Serbia/nth Albania. What do you think ?? Thanks Hxseek (talk) 22:54, 17 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes, that's true. That's why I asked the border on Todor's map to be changed, it's completely perfect except that it erroneously goes to the river of Drina, instead of Bosnia. --PaxEquilibrium (talk) 11:42, 18 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
That requires further research... by looking over some basic references I couldn't find any specific information regarding the size of that invasion. As you know, Simeon's campaign came to an end "somewhere in the Bosnian Highlands", that is, beyond the Drina. But the actual control of any lands beyond the river is dubious, it was certainly short-lived military presence and not actual possession. The maps I have used as sources do have the Drina as the western border, and I have sticked with that. The same goes for the border to the south, I have kept with what my maps state. It's quite certain that neither Durrës nor Dubrovnik were in Bulgarian hands at the time, so you have to think it's pretty logical that Bulgaria had no sea outlet between those two fortresses either. If that area lacked any substantial merchant ports at the time, it may have been of little importance to Simeon. TodorBozhinov 18:37, 18 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

edit

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Isihia-bandphoto1.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 16:10, 30 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:CSKA-sofia-logo.gif

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:CSKA-sofia-logo.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 04:08, 12 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Maritsa-plovdiv-logo.gif)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Maritsa-plovdiv-logo.gif.

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 08:22, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

it's general convention, at least with organisations. the logic is that the actual name could very well include a comma, but almost certainly won't include brackets. then again, there exist many different conventions WP:Naming conventions (settlements) and there's no hard and fast rule. ninety:one 19:06, 20 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Map Request/Question

edit

Hallo there!

I was wondering if someone could take on the task of creating a map of the Bulgarian dialects (I can provide reference materials). I remember you have created maps, do you think you could/are you willing to take this on? Or can you recommend me someone else?

Thank you in advance! VMORO 00:29, 31 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi Todor,

Thank you for the quick reply:-) I will make the change you requested. You can take a look at this [3] (the map is at the bottom of the page). However, this map is a group-by-group one (without representation of individual dialects), although there are detailed explanations of the range of each dialect in the preceding text (e.g. [4]). It also does not make allowances for smaller dialects, like the Paulican, and these are not marked at all. I can also scan and send you a map by S.Mladenov but it is also of a similar nature. I will try to look for a more detailed map at the university and the library but this might take some time. The map should include the dialects spoken in Bulgaria, the Western Outlands and the Macedonian territories in Greece and RoM (there is a ready Macedonian map in Wikipedia although it does not conform to the views of Bulgarian dialectology but it can serve as good reference). Take a look at this and tell me if it is enough as a start and what you need. VMORO 12:56, 31 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'd like to assume good faith, but considering the fact that you find the idea of the Macedonian language "laughable", that's quite hard. Oh, and agreeing with a blatant POV-warrior doesn't help. So if you could point out your neutrality, that would help a lot. Peace, BalkanFever 12:20, 1 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, I'm sure everything is "censored", as you say. It's all an Anti-Bulgarian conspiracy. Only you guys know the truth, eh? Sorry if you get offended, but I can't take you seriously at all. Have fun trying to push your idiotic fringe view (and before you say that's personal attack, admit to yourself that you are POV-pusher). BalkanFever 13:04, 1 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi there again,

Just wondering if you've had the time to start and how far you've gone if you have. I got a map by Mladenov which might be useful - I can mail it to you. Otherwise, I am almost finished with the dialects on the territory of Bulgaria - you can take a look if you want to. VMORO 22:54, 5 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

edit

Поздрав,--JSimin (talk) 14:29, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

:) --JSimin (talk) 16:10, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
