This band is on a reputable record label that houses numerous other bands that have Wikipedia articles. If you had bothered to search "sBACH", you would have found that they already have many articles from major music websites. Request for Revertion of the Deletion of Cristiano Novembre

Sapir College article

As webmaster, here at the Sapir College, I noticed that there was already a initial page for the college, but as I was told, the name Sapir Academic College is taken as a grammatical error in english. Firstly I have added the history content there, but just after some verifications I saw that as the right I was able to create a new article with the right name of the college. Meanwhile a took the liberty to delete the first content after the creation of the new entry.

As for the contents. The history of the Sapir College was written by the president of this institution. As far as I understand, there is no tendentious or provocative contents. If there is any material that is not appropriate or no compliant with the policies of the wikipedia, I'll be able to repair.

Finally, I'm new aroud here as a content editor, so any help I can get about the policies and right way to publish contents, I'll be glad to contribute. --Sapirwebmaster (talk) 13:34, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Boat Race and Championship Course

TrulyBlue, I've drawn a public domain map of the course and added it to the Boat Race and The Championship Course articles to go with your landmarks tables. Could you take a look to sense-check it please? You were right about the Stag Brewery name but I wonder whether to call it the Mortlake Brewery anyway. The dimensions of the river and bridges are exaggerated to make the map clearer at low resolution. BTW if you know anyone who could donate a shot of the Boat Race Start that would be very useful - I've never watched the race from anywhere downstream of the Doves. • Glad you liked the map. I will try to do an SVG version next. IMO your table of landmarks should stay: the coordinates are useful (where did you get them?) and it is a good home for comments on the course (e.g. Craven Cottage, Hammersmith Bridge etc). More comments would be useful, e.g. all that stuff the TV commentators come out with about 88% or whatever of crews that are ahead at Barnes Bridge go on to win (which I why I was standing there in 2003 and missed photographing the close finish, but that's another story). Re: the table layout, what might be good is to add little thumbnails to each row in the table. I had been planning to walk the course anyway (I suppose I would have to do it twice, once on each bank) so I can capture the images. What do you think? Pointillist (talk) 17:29, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

adenin TECHNOLOGIES

This is in regards to a deletion you made for adenin TECHNOLOGIES last week. You cited advertisment as the criteria for deletion. As you can see I am new to this Wikipedia thing. I am having problems because I write something and I get dinged for notability or advertising. Alot of times I am even using other listings as a template. For example the article you deleted I cited companies that use the products produced by adenin. I am assuming that is what the advertsing was. Other companies use clients in their listing. Is that permissable? How is Intranet Dashboard not advertising? I have used awards as notability as well and it has gotten me no where. • I apologize for offending you. I'm not an admin, so I have no means of checking a prior history when an article has been deleted. My mistake was taking your name from the contributing editor's talk page without checking the date of your comment, then comparing that date against the dates on the various revisions of the article. I have seen plenty of editors using speedy delete tags incorrectly, and I jumped to the conclusion that you thought the foreign language was nonsense or devoid of content. This was unfair of me, and I hope you accept my apology. The Boat Race

I think the representation of Steve Fairbairn on the mile post qualifies as a 'bust'. The OED says:

2 a sculpture of a person’s head, shoulders, and chest

and if you look at the image accompanying it, it's definitely that. I suppose the debate is whether a relief sculpture is a bust! Mrh30 (talk) 13:25, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

Deletion of Jacob Perry

I'd like to contest the deletion of Jacob Perry. I believe that he is notable. As you can see from his bio at http://www.magal-ssl.com/content/?did=3&aid=4114add9eaf95ecb9e3256dd81c93fb7, also pasted below, he has served on numerous boards and contributed largely to society as well as serving for many corporations.

Jacob Perry has been a director at Magal Security Systems from 2002 and was appointed to serve as the Deputy Chairman of the board in September 2006 and as Chairman of the Board since January 2008. From 1995 to 2003, Mr. Perry was President and CEO of Cellcom Israel Ltd., one of Israel's largest cellular phone operators and since 2003 he has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mizrahi Tefahot Bank.

He served as the Chairman of the Board of Lipman Engineering from 2003 to 2006 and acted as external consultant to Aeronautics manufacturers of drones and to Cellglide cellular services.

Mr. Perry served 29 years with the Israeli General Security Service, and served as its Director from 1988 until 1995.

Alongside his corporate activities, Mr. Perry served as Prime Minister's consultant on prisoners of war and missing soldiers in action. He is a member of the management of many organizations such as the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Public Council for Culture and Arts, the Center for the Commemoration for the Members of the Intelligence Community. He is Chairman of the Foundation for the Promotion of Quality Israeli Films, Chairman of the Board of Friend of Shiba Hospital, Chairman of Board of Trustees of Tel Aviv Yafo College Institute, Chairman of the Public Institute of Military soldiers, President of Industrial Cooperation Authority (ICA) and a member of the Board of Beth Hatefutsoth, Museum of the Diaspora. In 1997 he served as chairman of the WIZO Collection Fund and chairman of the "Knock on Every Door" campaign on behalf of the Cancer Society. He also served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Rubin Academy of Music.

Mr. Perry holds an A.M.P. from Harvard Business School and a B.A. in Oriental Studies and History of the Jewish People from Tel-Aviv University.

The Two Faces of January

The synopsis I wrote contains no bias, instead its simply a brief, maybe even complacent summary of the novel's main storyline. As for the reviews I mentioned, dozens of wikipedia articles I've read quote endorsements for the product from critic's. By your logic, you would have to delete all of them too, which would make this websites contents a lot thinner. --6afraidof7 (talk) 18:40, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

The reason I didn't go into detail about the plot is because revealing even the slightest development would spoil some surprise from somebody. As for the quotes, well of course their taken down verbatim, I'm not exactly going to paraphrase them am I, that would be akin to altering facts. Ok, the two warnings you posted on my talk-page wasn't technically prod-warnings, something I apparently was supposed to know, so I apologize for any confusion. The article in question has since been AfD'd at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/John Dahlbäck, so I guess I don't really have to know exactly what your warnings meant. Thank you for your response! I've never been fortunate enough to witness a speedy deletion process up close before, so I mistook them for prod-warnings. May I ask what the general purpose is with CSD warnings? I mean, it seems there is little chance to actually see the warning before the article is deleted since the whole process of tagging, warning and deletion take place within a couple of hours (I can't see when the first version of the John Dahlbäck was deleted, but I recreated the article three and a half hour after the warning on the first article). The AfD nomination has been withdrawn and is pending closing, since you haven't retracted your delete vote. You might want to comment on these latest revelations, and perhaps retract your vote, so that the AfD might be closed. I see you thought Mr Dahlbäck was a builder that played a few records on the radio, so I understand why you wanted to delete the article ;). Seriously though, it just seems a lot of the drama could have been spared if people in good faith actually would have tried to understand the subject. As this AfD went, it was like someone in an AfD on a football player midway through said "oh, football is a sport". I would have imagined that in a debate on the notability of a DJ you would at least know what a DJ is, or that if you didn't know what a DJ does, you would try to find out by clicking the wikilinks to the DJ-article (which was posted on both the article and the AfD). From my point of view, since no-one commented on this edit and that this edit would have raised some questions, I had little reason to believe that someone hadn't quite grasped the art of DJing. Now, only you know if you read my arguments in good faith, but given that I was under the impression that you understood that DJing is considered an art form, you might understand why I thought you were reading my arguments as the devil reads the Bible (as we say in Sweden). I have also learned a lot through this. I could certainly have done a lot of things differently, and I have apologized to those who have seemed to be offended. I honestly think I've been nothing but correct towards you, but if I somewhere down the line have offended you in any way, I apologize for that too. Oh, I didn't just come up with the idea that you should retract your vote or else the AfD wouldn't close. Don't worry, I may not be an expert on CSD's but I know enough on AfD's to know that's not how it works. I just got the impression by the nominator's note on the top of the page that he is awaiting reply from you. So you're still not satisfied with the case for notability? Why is that, and how would you say I can amend that? I'm mainly contributing on football-related articles (and after this I'll probably stick to them), and there we are used to even briefer stubs. Take Dan Smith (footballer born 1989) for example. If you didn't know football was and what a footballer is, I'd say there is less on his article that make a case of notability than on the current John Dahlbäck article. I, as a member of WP:Football, know that the notability threshold for a footballer is (basically) professional league, full national team or continental cup appearances, but that wouldn't a person who know nothing on football know. The notability assertion on Smith assumes that you 1. knows what a footballer is and 2. roughly, that his two appearances for Plymouth asserts notability. Criticism of CSD:John Dahlbäck

Even if you're the expert on CSD:s, I can't help but to think that your original CSD may be critisized. This passus is from the last paragraph of the lead on WP:CSD (emphasis added):

Before nominating an article for speedy deletion, consider whether it could be improved, reduced to a stub, merged or redirected elsewhere or be handled with some other action short of deletion. If this is possible, speedy deletion is probably inappropriate. Contributors sometimes create articles over several edits, so try to avoid deleting a page too soon after its creation if it appears incomplete.

This point was brought up by user:Neon white in this edit, but never adressed. I share Neon white's criticism since the article was tagged a few hours after its creation.

This passus is from CSD A7 (the rationale for the nomination and subsequent deletion, emphasis added):

(C)ontent that does not indicate why its subject is important or significant. This is distinct from questions of verifiability and reliability of sources, and is a lower standard than notability; to avoid speedy deletion an article does not have to prove that its subject is notable, just give a reasonable indication of why it might be notable.

I would have guessed that the Discogs source provided in the tagged version would have given the nominator a reasonable indication of why it might be notable. Despite me bringing up the Discogs source several times, this aspect was never adressed.

Conversion for adjectival use of distances?

Hi TB- I saw your change to Chemin de la Mâture--thanks for starting it, by the way. I'd changed that path length to a straight distance because I don't know a conversion template that works for a distance used as an adjective (200-ft climb vs climb of 200 ft). If you look now at the article, you'll see that the sentence doesn't read right: a 1,200 metres (3,900 ft) path. Do you know of a conversion template for adjectival forms--one that would let us put something like {{convert-adj|1200|m|ft}} and have it yield 1,200-metre (3,900-ft)? I'm not married to providing a conversion for every number, but if we're going to, I think we should find a way to render them in proper style. -Eric ^talk 14:50, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

I've put the adjectival form on the conversion - it's a standard parameter to the conversion template. I agree on the over-use of conversions, but there again the manual of style suggests they be given. regards TrulyBlue (talk) 15:49, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, TB, including for pointing me to {{convert}}. I didn't find that when I was looking over the dates and numbers page in the manual of style. I notice that it doesn't hyphenate the converted measurement--I guess that's a style choice by the template designers. Maybe I'll get brave and try to make an option to that sometime. RE: The Naked Brothers Band: Naked Idol

turns out to be notable. Though there was not a clear assertion of significance in the article, anyone who died in 1920 and has online sourcing is likely to have been notable. Sometimes it's best to search Google before tagging. Generally, anyone from that era with the honorary ranks of "Commodore" or "Colonel" was important enough to be considered significant (a lower standard than notability). Cheers, and happy editing. During my process of typing out my justification to keep the page, the page was apparently immediately deleted. I wasnt even able to post my objection. My biggest issue with the whole thing, is not the tag, but the fact that the entire process occurred in under 3 minutes' time. There was no discussion about it, which I feel is equal to being found guilty without trial or jury; hardly a democratic process, just an immediate execution. At the very least, there should be a 24-hour allowance for the original author to make any corrections or necessary additions. Otherwise there appears to be a bit of a "speedy deletion witch hunt" on Wikipedia. It was my intention to add the fact that its notability within the Heathen community is the fact that it's one of the first all-inclusive (with no regard to divisional sects such as Theodism, Ásatrú, Odinism, and others) means of collective, centralized, Heathen networking and communication. Furthermore it was my intention to bring others who know of the site as well, so they could contribute as well. Oh about my signature not being visible, the characters are within the Runic Unicode range. The free font Junicode (designed by Professor Peter S. FYI, User:Gutheren has deleted your prod tag from FlexAccount. I have tagged the relevant article issues: notability, unreferenced, and COI (as the Gutheren account was created in the wake of the username block of FlexAccount (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)).

While tagging says that the article does not demonstrate notability, opening the AfD would give the appearance that I'm saying the product is not notable—and long story short, I don't want to give even the appearance of opining on the merits of accounting software.
