I agree, I pulled out some time ago, too. Nevertheless, I find it strange that apparently the admins at AN and AN/I don't mind at all somebody trampling continuously and violently on about all policies and guidelines. I was called as "MOS waver", and will refrain from citing guidelines in the future. At a current RfA, somebody said "Wikipedia is dying", now I wonder... Kraxler (talk) 19:22, 28 December 2012 (UTC)

Thank you Mike! You're very kind. I admire your tenacious work on the COI spamming. I am becoming increasingly fed up with the lot of them. Is it my imagination or has there been an exponential increase in this dross since I started editing in 2006? It's a real plague—makes the project look ridiculous and wastes huge amounts of editor and administrator time. Meanwhile, decent articles by promising newbies languish in the 1500+ backlog at AfC, the majority of which are blatant advertisements.

Substantial cuts to Port Washington Play Troupe page

Hello! I am a writer who is doing a lot of research and writing work around Port Washington Play Troupe. I noticed that you cut nearly all the content on Play Troupe's wiki, citing it as "blatant" use of Facebook content. I am the creator of all said content! Thus, I am only copying from myself. I removed promotional info per Wikipedia's guidelines, and did edit what I had to be "just the facts." All information is verifiable via the source that I included. However, I absolutely welcome your feedback as I'm new to Wikipedia and want to do what's best. Should I be rewriting all that content so that it is "new?" Perhaps you could restore the text that you cut and I can work on it from there. Let me know what's possible and what you recommend, and thank you for your interest in Play Troupe.

Literature

Thanks for the list of foreign literature with English article titles! I don't want to blow up the Dutchman any more. - PumpkinSky and I spent a month last year improving Kafka, now a FA, so I know that Das Schloss is The Castle in the English Wikipedia, but the article has a piped link for his works for instances that don't refer to the translations. - Probably I have very high quality standards now, too high? The talk of the Wagner has my points, some taken, some I gave up (infobox), some replies say fine if you do it (language templates, references) - but I don't love Wagner ;) - There are still four months to improve that article, too early to talk about stability vs. quality, I think. - I miss PumpkinSky. Daniel C. Ferguson

Hey I don't know if I'm doing this right but you've edited Daniel C. Ferguson Wikipedia and I need your help as yes he's been involved with Reality TV as well. He likke the shows nd thought they were somthing else. I did link it to IMBD as Lars Ferguson is a mmeber as well as myself. If you just wantto live it up as a heading for reality tv to build that's fine to but his wikipedia was is acurate and can be referenced.!

Yes, I saw that you re-added it a few minutes later, but part of the problem at Julie Menin stemmed from you and two other single-purpose accounts [2] [3] repeatedly reverting without leaving edit summaries or discussing the issues on the talk page. This is required of all Wikipedia editors. Those who are here simply to maintain articles about themselves or their associates are not exempt. The next time there is an issue at that article, I expect to see you discussing it on the article's talk page and to abide by the guidance of the other pages I asked you to read [4], [5]. • Publisher's page
• ROH page
• FT review of Edinburgh festival performance
• it winning an award at the South Bank Awards yesterday

Both the composer Stuart MacRae and the librettist Louise Welsh have articles (albeit not very good ones). Also reviews in The Guardian [6]], The Telegraph [7], The Stage [8]. Is there any page for a recent opera which you would recommend I use as a model? I just looked at The Minotaur (opera) and felt it to be okay-ish - but imagine there's a better one almost-instinct 11:04, 13 March 2013 (UTC)

I'd say to use In the Penal Colony (opera) as a model, but adapted to the relatively short performance history, i.e. Edinburgh, tour of several UK cities, then ROH, all with the same production. Suggest these sections:

1. Background (For such short and newish operas, I generally include the scoring and running time in this section as well as who commissioned it and why, how it fits into the careers of the composer and librettist, etc.)

2. Performance history and reception (include the SB award here)

3. Roles

4. Synopsis

Hmmm, did rather a less good job than I was hoping for. I shall see if I can find more information about how the piece came to be commissioned yet. The reviews seemed to offer no consensus about the quality of the music; even the criticisms are inconsistent. So I only quoted, so far, the review which offered some solid description of what it sounded like. But more polish needed. Hi Andrew, I know about the block, I've been following the saga. His age doesn't surprise me. I primarily edit here and only very occasionally at Simple. I went to check his work there when I saw that folks were recommending he try it. On the whole, they don't do a priori blocks because of blocks on other projects, only if the editor starts causing problems there too. Who knows? It might be right environment for him and he'll do OK. He certainly started adding attribution templates once I told him about it. I've put him on my watchlist there. L'incoronazione di Poppea

Hi, I am new as a Wikipedia editor and have been referred to you by the user "instinct" for early assistance, since I seem to have clashed with the editing procedures of the site, which I would very much like to avoid. I am an opera researcher who has recently published a long historical article on "L'incoronazione di Poppea" and the singer Anna Renzi in Cambridge Opera Journal, and therefore I have updated the articles on those two topics, mainly drawing on the materials I present here. Whereas the Anna Renzi article is a stub, the Poppea article is a featured article, and hence I understand that my revisions may not be well received. I would be very grateful if you would take the time to look at those two articles (or on the Poppea one, anyway) to suggest how I might avoid starting an 'edit war'. Hi.Well done on expanding the Anna Renzi article! I commented on Talk:L'incoronazione di Poppea about those issues. My suggestion would be that you continue to join in the dialogue there. In the meantime, I'll contact the principal author(s) of the article to get their input as well. A really important thing to remember is that if your edits are changed or reverted, take the issue to the talk page, don't simply revert back again, tempting as it may be. It's the road to perdition . More often than not, if an experienced editor has reverted or modified your edits, they have a good reason and it needs to be discussed. Yes, I'm aware of that, but it forces the reader who is simply looking for the relatively small number of operas geographically set in China to click on multiple sub-categories based on time+geography to find them all. The new categories, are in my view too small to be viable and a case of over-categorization, but that's another issue. Voceditenore (talk) 08:54, 12 March 2013 (UTC)

I've got rather blocked on the Edith Smyth article, given very limited info except for the Met broadcast. But, I shall persist.

Anyway, I see that the opera noted above is on our list for expansion, so I've begun work on it. I did come across a reference to this article:

and wonder if can access it through JSTOR? If so, maybe you could get it to me. I've got both Osbornes' books as ref, and there is more in R.O's. that I'll use, but maybe Porter's article will help too.
