Speedy deletion of Ybeth Bruzual

edit

A tag has been placed on Ybeth Bruzual, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per CSD a7.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. NAHID 22:57, 28 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please do not remove the speedy tag from the article. It is considered a form of vandalism. If you disagree with the article being nominated for a speedy deletion add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Duplicate images uploaded

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Harry Morgan.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Harry Morgan.JPG. The copy called Image:Harry Morgan.JPG has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 18:44, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Biography Talk Pages

edit

There is a template you should use on the talk pages of all biographies you create.

Template:WPBiography

Just use data found there into the talk pages of all the biographies you create. That way the Wiki Project Biography can effectively rate the quality of the biographies you are constantly creating.

You might even want to consider joining the Wikipedia:WikiProject_Biography

By the way, this is a talk page. Talk implies two way dialogue. That means you should answer at least once in a while. Jason Harvestdancer | Talk to me 06:52, 10 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Marla Weech

edit

A tag has been placed on Marla Weech, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as articles for deletion. If you can indicate how Marla Weech is different from the previously posted material, or if you can indicate why this article should not be deleted, I advise you to place the template {{hangon}} underneath the other template on the article, and also put a note on Talk:Marla Weech saying why this article should stay. An admin should check for such edits before deleting the article. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 4 under General criteria. If you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please feel free to use deletion review, but do not continue to repost the article if it is deleted. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. We welcome your help in trying to improve Wikipedia, and we request you to follow these instructions. Jason Harvestdancer | Talk to me 20:18, 16 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I deleted that article as a recreation of deleted material because we've already discussed whether there should be an article for Weech. Please see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Marla Weech. Thanks.--chaser - t 21:09, 16 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

It appears that one or more of those who called for the deletion of this article have been banned from Wikipedia for being sockpuppets. Had this been caught at the time, the result would have been a tie... and with my vote added for "keep" would have been kept. This needs to be revisited as Marla Weech is a notable Florida person outside of WKMG because of her environmental documentaries. --Britcom 06:23, 15 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

WP:AFD Process

If you disagree with a nomination for delection, the appropriate thing to do is to vote against deletion and explain your vote on the appropriate discussion page. Hello, Wtimrock, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} and your question on your user talk page, and someone will show up shortly to answer. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

We hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on talk and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Stifle (talk) 19:45, 17 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I notice you're a relatively new user here at Wikipedia and I think you might not be catching some of the customs. I advise you read the posts that people have made here - they are messages for you - and take notice of them. If you continue to upload unsourced images, recreate deleted articles, and remove article maintenance notices, you are liable to be blocked from editing. Please consider this fair warning and feel free to leave me a message at User talk:Stifle (my talk page) if you would like more information. Stifle (talk) 19:49, 17 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

One more thing - it's not a good idea to mark all your edits as minor. Only spelling corrections or similar should be marked as minor. Stifle (talk) 19:50, 17 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Charles H. Morgan (historian)

edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Charles H. Morgan (historian), and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://asteria.fivecolleges.edu/findaids/amherst/ma38_bioghist.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot 22:08, 22 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have deleted this page. Simply moving or rewording a small fraction of content doesn't fix a copyright violation. Some paragraphs were still 100% identical to the source! Please feel free to rewrite the article in your own words. — Scientizzle 15:30, 23 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for Image:Please add image male.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Please add image male.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --OrphanBot 20:09, 7 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image tagging for Image:Understanding.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Understanding.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Understanding.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Understanding.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 19:40, 26 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

November 2007

edit

Please remember to mark your edits, such as your recent edits to Wally Kinnan, as minor if (and only if) they genuinely are minor edits (see Help:Minor edit). Marking a major change as a minor one (and vice versa) is considered poor etiquette. The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting changes, or rearranging of text without modifying content should be flagged as a 'minor edit.' Thank you. Blake01 (talk) 19:38, 28 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello. Please don't forget to provide an edit summary, which wasn't included with your recent edit to Wally Kinnan. Thank you. Blake01 (talk) 19:39, 28 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Good luck with that. Wtimrock always marks edits as minor, no matter how major they are. People have tried vainly to discuss this with him, but he ignores everyone who tries to talk to him here. The only solution will be someday he has an RFC. Jason Harvestdancer | Talk to me 23:29, 28 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Date formatting

edit

In a recent edit to the page Wayne Gretzky, you changed one or more words from one international variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles.

For subjects exclusively related to Britain (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. If it is an international topic, use the same form of English the original author used.

In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to the other, even if you don't normally use the version the article is written in. Respect other people's versions of English. They in turn should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Wikipedia:Manual of Style. If you have any queries about all this, just ask anyone on Wikipedia and they will help you. In particular: dates that are wikilinked as 26 November or November 26 will show up the correct way for the readers' location settings -- JD554 (talk) 08:02, 29 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Cfnews13.JPG)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Cfnews13.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Replaceable fair use Image:Bobby_Womack.jpg

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Bobby_Womack.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Garion96 (talk) 16:53, 16 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Deena Duos

edit

The article you've recreated at Deena Duos was the subject of an articles for deletion process -- see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Deena_Duos_(2nd_nomination) -- which it failed. That means it's subject to immediate deletion, regardless of hangon tag, etc. The only way that you can recreate this article and have it stay in Wikipedia is if you take it through a deletion review process. If you have any questions about Wikipedia policy, you can leave me a note. Accounting4Taste:talk 15:50, 19 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Philadelphia76ersOld.png

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Philadelphia76ersOld.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Andre Aldridge, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://hoopedia.nba.com/index.php/NBA_TV_Talent. Riva Tims

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Riva Tims, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Riva Tims. -- Naerii 23:57, 9 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Unless you ACTUALLY make substantial changes to the article, don't remove the tags. I know the Bot said "if that is the case, you can remove the tag", but that depens on "found similarity where none actually exists." You have a record of copyvio problems, and unless you are absolutely postively sure that you are innocent the best course of action for you is to keep your hands off of the copyvio tags. Speedy deletion nomination of Vixen LaMoore

edit

A tag has been placed on Vixen LaMoore requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. ttonyb (talk) 07:02, 15 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Rogers DeCuir

edit

The article Rogers DeCuir has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. ttonyb (talk) 03:07, 28 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Rogers DeCuir

edit

A tag has been placed on Rogers DeCuir requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ttonyb (talk) 03:09, 28 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

The article Zachery Tims has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

A pastor who had an affair. Not notable.

Speedy deletion nomination of Julia Chanel

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Julia Chanel requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Cameron Harper

edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Cameron Harper, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.teddwebb.com/showcase/where_are_they_now/cameron_harper.html.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Cameron Harper, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article appears to be a copy from http://www.teddwebb.com/showcase/where_are_they_now/cameron_harper.html, and therefore a copyright violation. The copyrighted text has been or will soon be deleted. While we appreciate contributions, we must require all contributors to understand and comply with our copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators are liable to be blocked from editing.

If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under license allowed by Wikipedia, then you should do one of the following:

It may also be necessary for the text be modified to have an encyclopedic tone and to follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

If you would like to begin working on a new version of the article you may do so at this temporary page. Leave a note at Talk:Cameron Harper saying you have done so and an administrator will move the new article into place once the issue is resolved. Thank you, and please feel welcome to continue contributing to Wikipedia. Happy editing! VernoWhitney (talk) 04:22, 11 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

While not a word-for-word copy, the article remains largely a close paraphrase and needs verifiable permission from the copyright holder or rewritten in your own words. VernoWhitney (talk) 04:22, 11 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Based on your recent copying of content into William Jordan (actor) from the IMDb profile and into Elke The Stallion which both closely paraphrased and directly duplicated official sources such as this, this block seems necessary. You have yet to show any indication that you understand or intend to comply with copyright policies, which you have been violating since at least 2007. A temporary block seems not to have brought this point home to you. I am evaluating your other contributions to ensure that they are compliant with policy and have already found at least one other article, Lillie Knauls, that is also a copyright problem. If I find several more, I will be opening a WP:CCI here. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:29, 3 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Having found additional issues both predating and postdating your last block, I have opened Wikipedia:Contributor copyright investigations/Wtimrock to facilitate community review of copyright status of other articles. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:23, 3 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
It looks like you're still incorrectly marking some of your contributions as minor edits. Your best bet on that would probably be not to mark any as minor, but instead provide appropriate edit summaries.
Wikifying a subject or object that is already written on the page (for instance changing apple to [[apple]] can be considered a minor edit.
Fixing punctuation or spelling errors is a minor edit.
Undoing obvious vandalism is a minor edit.
Adding or removing links at the "See also" section of an article is not a minor edit [9].
Adding this to an article is not a minor edit.
Adding copyrighted information to Wikipedia (fair use or not) is definitely not a minor edit.
Once you are ready to comply with this, you'll probably be ready to mark the correct edits as minor again. mechamind90 21:02, 3 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

Considering the fact that your edits are being investigated for further copyright violations, "[I] will try to be more careful in the future" is laughably inadequate as an unblock request. Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

edit

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion, guidelines for use at WP:MINOR). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and all users will still be able to manually mark their edits as being minor in the usual way.

For well-established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 21:07, 15 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
