@Bilorv:Hello, I have read the wikipedia article regarding notability requirements & I have found reviews by German music magazines/webzines & chart statistics. If I were to insert those into the article, with the appropriate boxes tempalates etc could the article be put up for review again? Cheers Obama gaming (talk) 12:49, 27 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the reply, Obama gaming, and the careful consideration of the details I pointed you to. As I see you now have added the chart statistics, I've taken the liberty of re-submitting the draft on your behalf and accepting it (it now shows notability is met). Any magazine/webzine reviews you have found would be great in improving the article further. Thanks! — Bilorv (talk) 14:21, 27 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Tirzepatide

edit

Hi Obama gaming I hope I've helped with the draft (as a chemist, not a drugs expert, I've got no more to contribute presently) but I have one comment. You say "tirzepatide exhibiting much larger reductions (around 2% more reduction depending on dosage) in...." The reference is way beyond my full understanding but are you sure that 2% is "much larger"? Perhaps this needs expressing in another way to be clearer? Mike Turnbull (talk) 11:42, 28 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Michael D. Turnbull:Hello Mr Turnbull, thank you for your message. I say much larger, this is all relatively speaking. In the study results on a dosage basis (5mg, 10mg, 15mg) tirzepatide has glycated hemoglobin baseline reductions of -2.01%, -2.24% and -2.3% respectively. Compared to semaglutide, which had -0.15% (95% confidence interval -0.28 to -0.03), -0.39% (95% CI -0.51 to -0.26) and -0.45% (95% CI -0.57 to -0.32). Relatively, this is a thirteen-fold, five-fold and five-fold increase in glycated hemoglobin baseline reduction. The 5mg statistic is particularly interesting too, since serious adverse effects were reported in 5-7% of patients who received tirzepatide vs 3% for semaglutide. I would like to think that is a "large" increase, even if visually it is insignificant. It's also interesting to note other diabetes type 2 treatments rarely have a >1% glycated hemoglobin baseline reduction, so I think saying much large is justified, however I think it should be reworded to "exhibits greater reductions". I appreciate your input, I am by no means an expert in this field, this journal submission actually popped up in my weekly Lancet online-first email & it seemed bizzare such a promising diabetes type 2 treatment didn't have any documentation. But yes, I do think I should be more concise. Obama gaming (talk) 11:57, 28 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
That's fine, I'll leave it to you to express it as clearly as you can. Note that WP has standards for articles on medicines (linked at WP:MEDRS) which are very stringent and usually require secondary sources, not just claims by those who conducted the trials. Hence I think you need to be careful to note this is an experimental drug, not an approved one, and be cautious in interpretations. I recently contributed to molnupiravir, where this sort of issue arose. Mike Turnbull (talk) 12:12, 28 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thank you very much, I was thinking the same. I don't want to present it as some "miracle drug", and obviously need to adhere to strict neutrality. Thank you for linking the article, I will edit the description to state that it is experimental & introduce information about it's phase trials. Do you think my sources are good? I've only included a single primary source I believe (from the lilly company or whatever they're called, albeit adapted), and I have a post-hoc analysis I intend to use for it's mechanism of action too. Cheers Obama gaming (talk) 12:20, 28 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
The Chemical Review article I added says on p907 that the compound is a "Synthetic form of glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide and GLP-1 receptor dual agonist", so that's fine as a secondary source for the moa: although their only reference is Lilly's Mol Metab paper. I've searched all that RSC review for mentions of tirzepatide and p 906-7 is all there is (which is enough!). I'm a member of the RSC and have full access to everything normally behind their paywall. Mike Turnbull (talk) 15:52, 28 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
Your contribution in priceless, thank you very much. Obama gaming (talk) 20:26, 28 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
Addendum - I couldn't find much information about its synthesis, could you? I emailed their tirzepatide spokesperson about potentially obtaining information about it but I suppose if it's not available in public domain it's probably patent pending.Obama gaming (talk) 20:29, 28 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
I intended to take a good look today for recent patents filed for tirzepatide. Pubchem usually lists these but is currently lacking that information. Given the normally long times between invention and Phase 3 trials, I'd expect there to be a filing — although probably not yet granted. Whatever I find I'll include in a chemistry section in the draft (compare my additions to molnupiravir). Mike Turnbull (talk) 10:14, 29 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
Actually found quite easily. see this webpage of Google Patents. Note in particular at the end of the main text (TLDR) there is a citation to US20200023040 which will be the relevant patent I need look over for chemistry. Note also the "non-patent citations" which includes several references that would be worth you casting an eye over: Bastin doi=10.2147/DMSO.S191438 looks particularly relevant. Mike Turnbull (talk) 10:32, 29 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
The key first patent is this one, US9474780 and, as I would expect, the synthesis was by solid phase peptide chemistry. Tirzepatide is Example 1, I think. Not much worth including in the draft but I'll add the reference and a comment with links to the relevant technology. Mike Turnbull (talk) 10:56, 29 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
This link is a what I think a relevant study but unfortunately I don't have access to it. Do your perceive this to be relevant? Again, thank you for your contribution. Obama gaming (talk) 11:02, 29 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
Yes, excellent spot which I've added to the article. It's relevance is clear from the abstract, so no need to actually access it. Please stop thanking me for my additions, that's becoming embarrassing! Mike Turnbull (talk) 11:53, 29 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
Rightio, noted. Obama gaming (talk) 11:59, 29 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

The Deathstars album

edit

I wanted to reply here so that the other guy's talk page didn't get cluttered @Obama gaming: Press releases are good, but reviews are hit-or-miss since many review websites aren't reliable and are unknown. But referencing the liner notes is also fine. Most people, I've noticed, have been using a generic "AV media" template. For example...

The Downward Spiral, this is one of the references................ "The Downward Spiral (CD liner notes). Nine Inch Nails. Interscope Records. 1994. p. 28. 92346-2."

Metallica, this is one of the references................ "Metallica (liner notes). Metallica. Vertigo Records. 1991. 510 022-2."

The Torture Technique, this is one of the references, as seen when editing................ { { cite AV media notes |title=The Torture Technique |title-link=The Torture Technique |others=Sister Machine Gun |year=1994 |type=booklet |publisher=TVT/Wax Trax! |location=Chicago, Illinois } }

They didn't include any links to actual images and they're treating liner notes like as if it was a novel or book instead. I personally would rather link directly to an image of the booklet. It's easier for people to verify it because, usually, scans of a booklet doesn't lie, like what I've done here:

Mostasteless................ { { Cite AV media notes |title=Cryptic Collection Credits (Mostasteless songs' recording dates) |url=https://www.discogs.com/release/2465263-The-Cryptic-Collection/images |access-date=May 15, 2021 |type=liner notes |publisher=Psychopathic Records |id=PSY42102 } }

So at this point, it's all based on context. Are you able to figure out the details/individuals of Deathstars' album through a reliable review or website? If not, second-guess and ask if it's really that important to the article? If it is, then yeah, fall back on the liner notes. So long as you're using one of the two methods I described above. Xanarki (talk) 04:49, 5 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Understood. @Xanarki: Here is the "official press release" that I used, and what I do for these slightly lesser known albums is that I open roughly 5/6 websites, and cross-reference information about the album, and go with the most used information, e.g if someone says song is this long, but four others say its this long, I go with the latter. Its arduous but I love these albums & artists so I think it's worth it. Another nice method for checking song credits is going onto spotify, right clicking a song & clicking show credits, and it can tell you a little about the song. But I find CD information the most useful, especially the artist's domestic market release (EU/Sweden, Germany etc) example 1, example 2 & example 3. Example 1 is this the album this talk page references, the second two pictures are for Schicksalsmelodien, another page I wrote. Deathstars did have a minor lineup change too, and this review actually sums it all up quite nicely. Obama gaming (talk) 07:01, 5 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
Yeah that review did a great job of covering all of the bases. I personally would use that plus the liner notes. Paired together, it makes for a great source. Also just a heads up with Spotify, a lot of artists have different streaming contracts, and some of them sold/forfeited/combined their publishing rights. Also, many times, older songwriters don't realize or care that their songs are posted, and so their names don't get listed.
FYI, if you're gonna reference images for the liner notes and booklets, the best way is to take the page's URL, and simply add /images at the end of the URL:
https://www.discogs.com/release/2465263-The-Cryptic-Collection [1] leads directly to the page, and someone would gladly take this down quickly, as you've probably noticed lol.
https://img.discogs.com/WFs9wDeNqEfkcmdKql2GkkDDHF0=/fit-in/600x200/filters:strip_icc():format(jpeg):mode_rgb():quality(90)/discogs-images/R-2465263-1563621835-9766.jpeg.jpg [2] leads directly to an image, kind of like what you did in your paragraph above, but since it has browser-based formatting and it's a long URL, there's a very good chance that this URL won't work in a few weeks or even days.
https://www.discogs.com/release/2465263-The-Cryptic-Collection/images [3] leads to all of the images on one page without the pop-ups or overlays. I actually figured this out on my own, because there's no way to access this page except by manually typing in /images after the album's name (I kept right-clicking and copying URLs with no luck, then I tried typing in /images manually, and it works every time).
Here's what the link to Eisbrecher would look like: [4] https://www.discogs.com/release/16112110-Eisbrecher-Schicksalsmelodien/images
You seem to have a good grasp on everything though, and you know what makes sense and what doesn't. That type of common sense is excellent for Wikipedia. Xanarki (talk) 15:58, 5 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
Cheers mate, thanks for the info. Really helps. I am thinking of creating documentation for the band Feuerschwanz, and its related albums so you can check in on those if you'd like. It'll probably be under my username & once it's done I'll move it into article space when it's ready. Obama gaming (talk) 23:23, 5 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use File:AndrewJeffcoat.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:AndrewJeffcoat.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 01:56, 11 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Whpq: There is nothing within the free domain of him, this image was actually purchased from the BW Media website by someone close to me. Does this not satisfy the "no free equivalent"? I was under the assumption if there's nothing in the public domain then there's nothing stopping me from uploading this. Appreciate your help Obama gaming (talk) 02:04, 11 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
It is not sufficient that a free image cannot be found, it must also be the case that a free image cannot be created. From the non-free content guidelines, "Non-free content should not be used when a freely licensed file that serves the same purpose can reasonably be expected to be uploaded, as is the case for almost all portraits of living people." -- Whpq (talk) 02:09, 11 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Whpq: Would you rather me take a picture of him myself? I can do that Obama gaming (talk) 02:11, 11 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
That is your choice. If you choose to do so, the image you upload must be freely licensed. -- Whpq (talk) 02:13, 11 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
Yeah alright I'll do that then. So what, do we just delete the photo for now or what? Obama gaming (talk) 02:15, 11 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
Yes, the image shoudl be deleted. You can add {{db-author}} to the file description to request it be deleted. -- Whpq (talk) 02:19, 11 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

McLaren MP4-18

edit

Greetings. Just an apology for my very hasty edit summary, not knowing that the article was still under construction (hopefully?) and awaiting a GA review—I only realised that at the talk page. Best of luck in getting that GA passed, as the car is an interesting slice of McLaren history. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 22:15, 2 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Mac Dreamstate, no problem. I appreciate your honesty, quite frankly I'm still adding stuff and I suppose the odd spelling mistake does slip by me (who spells Mercedes with four e's?). I'll try revise & improve the grammar, so yeah, fingers crossed & hopefully my first GA goes well. X-750 I've made a mistake, haven't I? 22:21, 2 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Mac Dreamstate: sorry to bother, but I've given a crack at copyediting the article. Give it another geeze & see what you think. Appreciate your time. You're right too, I thought it was criminal such a slice of McLaren history had such a crap article for it. Distasteful, if you ask me. X-750 I've made a mistake, haven't I? 23:53, 2 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
I gave it a quick bash whilst retaining most of your content (save for a few reworded sentances, new paragraphs, some linking, and getting rid of "&" for tone). No sources were changed whatsoever, as those were excellent and in abundance. If it doesn't eventually pass for GA, I'll be surprised. Go forth! It's even more detailed than, say, the MP4/4 article in terms of actually discussing the design itself. I'd love to see the same treatment for the MP4/14 and MP4/15, which are also criminally sparse for such important cars. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 18:36, 3 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Mac Dreamstate Thanks a lot mate, highly appreciate it. I'll give those two articles you mentioned a quick whirl. I'm kind of surprised Häkkinen's title winning car doesn't have a decent article, but I'll see what I can do 😀 X-750 I've made a mistake, haven't I? 20:26, 3 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

This is gonna seem weird. But, I'm kinda getting a sense that the two combating editors at WP:ANI, may end up being the same individual. GoodDay (talk) 06:06, 30 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

If that is the case, GoodDay, it will be an ANI thread fpr the ages. Perhaps goes into one of those Wiki trivia pages. Ill tell you my personal feeling, I've talked to TheCurrencyGuy on his talk page, and I'm gonna tell you my raw thoughts. There's definitely some meatpuppetry going on, but to whom to delegate the meatmaster, here's what I think:
  • One of the users has told his buddies on some sort of online platform, hey, vote on the move.
  • I say this because one IP geolocates to San Francisco, the other London. Looking at TheCurrencyGuy's contribution history, and his spelling variations, its clear he is British. Or at the very least, European, as his various edits to Germany related articles such as aktiengesellschaft.
  • What makes this really complicated is the fact that there could be two ulterior motives:
  • Gangam style is trying to frame TheCurrencyGuy for sockpuppetry (which does not seem unlikely given his agenda against him)
  • Or that indeed, TheCurrencyGuy is a sockpuppet. What I am confused is about is why he would be doing this at what appears to be like 6am local time, unless he is American (which still wouldn't make sense because that would've been at 2am ish)
I guess only the CheckUser can tell us the truth, but as of writing OGP has been blocked for a week. Observing his edit habits, I expect I a tirade or lengthy polemic on his talk page to be imminent. Apologies for such a long read, this is quite possibly one of the most difficult things I've come across in my wee little years on this project.
His point about Franz Ferdinand was pretty funny, I gotta admit too. X-750 Rust In Peace... Polaris 09:03, 30 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
As of today, OGP has been indeffed, GoodDay. How bizarre, how bizarre... X-750 Rust In Peace... Polaris 22:05, 30 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Well, something was gonna break, one way or the other. GoodDay (talk) 22:07, 30 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
True. Have a good day, GoodDay. Maybe check out this XKCD comic if you'd like. X-750 Rust In Peace... Polaris 22:36, 30 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
It is indeed a bewildering situation. The way OGP pounced on the "sockpuppetry" story and started spreading it around is very suspicious to me, as if it had been planned.... but that's just my idle speculation. TheCurrencyGuy (talk) 22:43, 30 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Having observed this saga and having cast a vote in the move discussion, I really feel like this whole thing belongs in Wikipedia:Lamest edit wars or something similar. 68.43.231.28 (talk) 23:15, 30 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
User:Battleofthebands2004 seems to be a sock of OGP, he messaged me out of the blue for unknown reasons. TheCurrencyGuy (talk) 23:57, 30 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
You're not wrong, 68.43.231.28, it's definitely one of the weirdest things I've ever seen. In light of the new revelation by TheCurrencyGuy, I am highly suspect that OGP is the meatpuppet master. It's almost sinister how meticulously (or not savagely) this was planned. Meatpuppetry however, is much harder to spot than sockpuppetry due to CheckUser only being able to distinguish accounts that are technically related. The spreading around bit is what particuarly strikes me too, he wrote it almost like a news article: "Breaking News: User:TheCurrencyGuy suspected of sockpuppeting?" Rather libelous if you ask me... I also have a hunch on the grounds of WP:CIR where OGP is not mature enough to understand that Wikipedia is a place with rules, and that they are steadfast. No exceptions, no buts or ifs. He was half-right in saying perhaps it is not the place for him, however he's half wrong in the fact that he can change his behaviour. Redemption is difficult but not impossible. October 2022

edit

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Ferrari 499P. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 01:29, 30 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Liz I wrote the article entirely. What are you talking about? I didn't move it from anywhere. X750. Spin a yarn? Articles I've screwed over? 01:33, 30 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hello, X750,
An editor moved this article to Draft space. The correct action to take, if you disagree with the page move, is to move the draft back to main space, not to cut and paste content back into a new main space version. Right now, we have two versions of this article, one in main space and one in Draft space.
It's fine if you object to a draftification, just move it back, but please do not create a second version of an article. That's all that this message was about. Thanks. Liz Read! Talk! 01:50, 31 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi Liz, I understand your message & I've read WP:CUTPASTE, but I just want to say I didn't disagree with the page move, I wholly wrote the article myself. The only similarity we have is the first sentence, and that's just the way I write motorsport articles (see Porsche 963). I don't wanna get into trouble, but I'm just saying no cutting and pasting took place. I had the "Create Ferrari 499P" page open before Pete had even created his draft, so the notice displaying the fact that there was a draft didn't even pop up. Why did I publish my article two hours after his draft? Because I made & ate breakfast. I hope you AGF. Thank you. X750. Spin a yarn? Articles I've screwed over? 02:12, 31 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Formatting

edit

You ask about formatting chemical names. It depends what editor you are using. For the visual editor: to get superscript text highlight and press ctrl-. For italic, highlight and press ctrl-i. For subscript use ctrl-, If you use visual editor and copy formatted text, you can paste it in to keep the format.

If you are using wikitext editor use html tags, for example 00,1 ''N'' or 2 giving 00,1 N or 2. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:10, 25 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Sure, I get that. But how do I know which numbers to super and sub script? Thanks, Graeme Bartlett. Congrats on the rugby league win too. X750. Spin a yarn? Articles I've screwed over? 21:14, 25 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Look up the PubChem CID entry, and under IUPAC Name they will have it formatted. ChemSpider can also have an English name entry like this. They should have links from the chembox, or you can search the respective websites with a name or SMILES string. (I played no part in the rugby league win! But thanks for the good news for my country's team.) Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:22, 25 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Graeme Bartlett Cheers mate. Another question while you're here, if I'm drawing rhodium(ii) hexanoate dimer's 2D structure, should I follow the diagram at PubChem CID 24845992 or follow the diagram at PubChem SID 24871744? TIA. X750. Spin a yarn? Articles I've screwed over? 21:27, 25 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Well the first is more realistic to represent a dimer, but the diagram is untidy. The second fails to show half the rhodium-oxygen bonds, and so does not represent it as a dimer, it just shows two of the formula. But it is neat. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:33, 25 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Graeme Bartlett Which one then, would you include if you were to write an article about the substance? Both, perhaps? X750. Spin a yarn? Articles I've screwed over? 21:35, 25 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
There can be many possible IUPAC names. I like to include one with the "cyclo" and bridge numbering, but another name formed by naming fused rings can go under other names. Some like to only include a PIN, some sort of preferred name. I would not include two similar constructed names unless they are both in use in literature. The purpose is education, so if an extra name variant adds nothing for our readers, no need to include it. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 00:29, 26 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Autopatrolled granted

edit

Hi X750, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled user right to your account. This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed', and no longer appear in the new pages feed. Autopatrolled is assigned to prolific creators of articles, where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers.

Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.

Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Schwede66 22:05, 8 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Vandalisms

edit

Are you kidding? What are these actions: [5], [6], [7], [8]? Why are you reverting my edits without any comment, explanation, discussion, especially these first two with objective sources provided? Actions like these are pure vandalism, is registered guy with "good articles" in portfolio acting so poorly and low, really? Seems like you overestimate your role, thinking if somebody is unregistered means you can treat their imprint like trash. You're wrong, dude. 83.21.101.90 (talk) 13:05, 2 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

You have a point some of the time, some useful information you contribute is being removed.
However, you cannot cry 'pure vandalism' when the community disagrees with you. Particularly regarding 7 and 8 (Cars introduced in 2022), several users now have disagreed with you but you disregard them and their reasons, and you carry on edit wars like it's a winnable game. Behaviour like this tends to irritate users and you alienate yourself and your other contributions.
Cease with the name calling and improve how you to talk to people, ("admins should watch you", "Seems like you overestimate your role", "kid won't be a judge of everything", "nah" etc...), assume good faith and understand the concept of community, democracy and how decisions on content are made. Else, take some time to consider why you are here because Wikipedia is not a winnable game and doesn't belong to you. Rally Wonk (talk) 15:30, 2 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
83.21.101.90, if you could please demonstrate the consensus formed that those categories apply to production cars only, only then I shall accept I am wrong. Until then, we will remain with the status quo. I will also take no further action until your report at the administrator's noticeboard is concluded. My good articles also have Cars introduced in XXX year, and yet they are not road cars. So, clearly, the reviewers seem to disagree with your viewpoint too. Your edit to Cupra Terrmar was with a supbar source, I'll superseded it with a better one. Your edit to Neta 01 is not consistent with the Manual of style regarding tense (MOS:TENSE). 7 is just plain wrong. Same with 8. For someone demonstrating such knowledge of the innards of Wikipedia I would've been inclined to think consensus and the MOS would be familiar now. X750. Spin a yarn? Hi, X750, thanks for your comment, especially on user talkpage. But I still strongly advise you to mute this user from wikimail. They may stop on-wiki but they may send you some emails with legal threats cross-wiki. I have a terrible experience when they told me they are cooperating with government. Lemonaka (talk) 01:50, 8 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Apologies to hear you have had trouble dealing with this user, Lemonaka. They can choose to email me; I will simply trash them. They can "co-operate" with their government, whatever that means. All it gives me is more evidence that my support should perhaps be changed to a strong support. X750. Spin a yarn? Articles I've screwed over? 02:12, 8 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Oh, BTW, having heard that you are a mainlander, I'm inviting you to Chinese Wikipedia. My Chinese is too rotten to contribute there. Lemonaka (talk) 03:52, 8 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Really, mine is not flash either. I am fluent in speaking, but I can barely write; let alone read. WikiCup 2023 March newsletter

edit

So ends the first round of the 2023 WikiCup. Everyone with a positive score moved on to Round 2, with 54 contestants qualifying. The top scorers in Round 1 were:

  •   Unlimitedlead with 1205 points, a WikiCup newcomer, led the field with two featured articles on historical figures and several featured article candidate reviews.
  •   Epicgenius was in second place with 789 points; a seasoned WikiCup competitor he specialises in buildings and locations in New York.
  •   FrB.TG was in third place with 625 points, garnered from a featured article on a filmmaker which qualified for an impressive number of bonus points.
  •   TheJoebro64, another WikiCup newcomer, came next with 600 points gained from two featured articles on video games.
  •   Iazyges was in fifth place with 532 points, from two featured articles on classical history.

The top sixteen contestants at the end of Round 1 had all scored over 300 points; these included   LunaEatsTuna,   Thebiguglyalien,   Sammi Brie,   Trainsandotherthings,   Lee Vilenski,   Juxlos,   Unexpectedlydian,   SounderBruce,   Kosack,   BennyOnTheLoose and   PCN02WPS. It was a high-scoring start to the competition.

These contestants, like all the others, now have to start again from scratch. The first round finished on February 26. Remember that any content promoted after that date but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Some contestants made claims before the new submissions pages were set up, and they will need to resubmit them. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed.

If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! edit

HI X750,

I see you've nominated my article for deletion. If there is any extra information you can find to improve the page, that would be great. If you think it would be more appropriate, could I propose a move of the article information from this page to the Motorsport section of the BMW M1 article on Wikipedia?

What do you think?

Thanks. Davism0703 (talk) Davism0703 (talk) 16:40, 27 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for reaching out Davism0703, please see Wikipedia:BURDEN; it is not my duty to provide sources, nor do I plan to do so. I had contemplated creating the article myself a while back, but it does not pass GNG. Even if you did merge it into the M1's page, you need far better sources that what is present in the article. It is not the question of whether you have rnoughinformation, it is the question of whether the spurces are strong enough to confer notability, which is currently very weak. Best wishes. X750. Economy of North Korea

edit

Hi there! I just wanted to touch base with you directly. I am sorry if something isn't right, I only copied information directly from already used sources. (CIA world Factbook, WorldBank). Which by the way are sources we use for almost every economy article.. please let me know what isn't right.

Thanks so much! Canada18 (talk) 18:16, 1 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

No problem, Canada18. You introduced redlinks to the infobox, you also put Suriname as a main trading partner even though it only accounts for 6% of trade. Doesn't seem "main" in any way shape or form. We don't need every single relevant statistic duch as youth employment either, we can detail that in the wrticle later if you wish. The problem is not the source, however, it does seem odd that estimates for external debt vary by more than ten billion USD. X750. Spin a yarn? Articles I've screwed over? 18:26, 1 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
I think adding Suriname as a main trading partner is debatable as it’s the only other trading partner that the CIA is aware of.. Plus we add countries with less share of trade on other economy articles. I agree it’s difficult to find reliable financial information but the same could be said for the existing data, the only information we have to rely on is from the CIA world Factbook with respect to gross external debt... Why can’t I update it Canada18 (talk) 18:33, 1 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Also I’m sorry for not fully understanding redlinks I will familiarize myself better going forward Canada18 (talk) 18:37, 1 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
You can update it if you want. It just seems odd that two different agencies have a discrepancy of more than ten billion dollars. I still disagree with your Suriname point, unless there is a manual of style guideline regarding this, 6% still seems terribly small. X750. Spin a yarn? Articles I've screwed over? 18:48, 1 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Up to speed I see what you mean, and you are right they are very different. CIA and WorldBank, both have different figures in terms of gross external. I have no idea which one is more favoured. I reverted my changes but I want a more open conversation on this I’ll prepare all of the sources and information we have on the economy and open talk page for it. Thanks so much for your fast replies Canada18 (talk) 18:56, 1 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

  •   Sammi Brie, with 1575 points, gained mainly from a featured article, 28 good articles and 50 good article reviews. Close behind was

Invitation to an in-person meetup in Mohua / Golden Bay

Golden Bay Air are holding some seats for us until 21 November

Thinking about your summer break? Think about joining other Wikipedians and Wikimedians in Golden Bay / Mohua! Details are on the meetup page. There's heaps of interesting stuff to work on e.g. the oldest extant waka or New Zealand's oldest ongoing legal case. Or you may spend your time taking photos and then upload them.

Golden Bay is hard to get to and the airline flying into Tākaka uses small planes, so we are holding some seats from and to Wellington and we are offering attendees a $200 travel subsidy to help with costs.

Be in touch with Schwede66 if this event interests you and you'd like to discuss logistics. Schwede66 09:14, 13 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Groß danke, Gerda Arendt. Aber ich habe keine Zeit für Wikipedia... ich bin jetzt Student. Natürlich, Zeit ist selten für mich. Beste Wünsche. P.S. Es tut mir leid für das schlecte Deutsch. Lerne immernoch. X750. Spin a yarn? Articles I've screwed over? 01:45, 22 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

WikiCup 2024 February newsletter

edit

The 2024 WikiCup is off to a flying start, with 135 participants. This is the largest number of participants we have seen since 2017.

Our current leader is newcomer   Generalissima (submissions), who has one FA on John Littlejohn (preacher) and 10 GAs and 12 DYKs mostly on New Zealand coinage and Inuit figures. Here are some more noteworthy scorers:

As a reminder, competitors may submit work for the first round until 23:59 (UTC) on 27 February, and the second round starts 1 March. Remember that only the top 64 scoring competitors will make it through to the second round; currently, competitors need at least 15 points to progress. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAN, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges (Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs), Epicgenius (talk · contribs), and Frostly (talk · contribs)) are reachable on their talk pages. WikiCup 2024 March newsletter

edit

The first round of the 2024 WikiCup ended at 23:59 (UTC) on 27 February. Everyone with at least 30 points moved on to Round 2, the highest number of points required to advance to the second round since 2014. Due to a six-way tie for the 64th-place spot, 67 contestants have qualified for Round 2.

The following scorers in Round 1 all scored more than 300 points:

In this newsletter, the judges would like to pay a special tribute to   Vami_IV (submissions), who unfortunately passed away this February. At the time of his death, he was the second-highest-scoring competitor. Outside the WikiCup, he had eight other featured articles, five A-class articles, eight other good articles, and two Four Awards. Vami also wrote an essay on completionism, a philosophy in which he deeply believed. If you can, please join us in honoring his memory by improving one of the articles on his to-do list.

Remember that any content promoted after 27 February but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send.
