  • This article practically doesn’t exist!!! Nearly every other art form has huge pages devoted to twentieth century practices. The body of this article consists of just 12 words! It has apparently been like this for over a year! If any article ever needed help it’s this one.--S.dedalus 05:51, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nevertheless it's a slow process for one person and if anyone is able to help, I think it would make a great featured article. Despite what you may think there is plenty of academic reference material available on him - look on JSTOR for example if you can, it's just a case of putting it all together into one coherent article.) • The article could easily be improved to GA quality and perhaps even FA quality. There's a very decent start with a number of solid references. There's still plenty to do: an extensive copyedit, an "in popular culture" section that needs to be cleaned up, a more thorough discussion of his legacy, etc. In any case, it's the kind of article where editors with various skills and interests could find something worthwhile to do. The article falls in the scope of a number of projects so it should be easy to gather a good number of competent editors to help out. Of course, James Brown is a key figure in popular music and I just think it would be really nice to have the article featured by the first year of his death (December 25th). GA-Class quality? Didn't realized the quality of the article has slipped that far. The JB article was rated as B-Class, then A-Class quality earlier this year (also noted on the article's talk page) for the Biography and Georgia portals (this article is also rated as "top-importance" for the Georgia Portal). Also, the article was featured on the Music Portal during February 2007. Here's the content of the article at the last edit on February 1 and the last edit on February 28. Since I don't where to find the archives for past featured articles on portals, I don't know which version of the article appeared on the Music Portal during February 2007, especially since the article was also vandalized frequently at that time.

After I spent some time editing the article, I stepped back to take another look at what needs to be done for the article's improvement. Here are my comments for what I think is still needed to improve the article: 'Lwalt ♦ talk

    • His own article notes that he's the 14th richest person in the world. Certainly deserving of a better article (and definitely a better photo) but I don't know that you should indicate him as the "world's richest person" in light of that. I won't support this as there are many other articles that require more attention that are far mroe important to an English encyclopedia. --lincalinca 10:48, 2 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • The world's richest person can pay someone to improve his article if he wants to. If he wants to, he can certainly leave a message here. Reasonable Rates!! :) I agree that there probably are more important articles for wikipedia in general. Having said that, he might be a good nominee for the India or Biography collaboration. • Every article about any fictional thing is likely to link here, but for such a fundamental article, it's pretty basic. With no pictures, few sources, no history of fiction and a weak overview, there's lots of work to do here.Nydas(Talk) 19:00, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The current group that's editing the article is polarized either pro- or anti-Falun Gong, so the article is pretty much locked into its current configuration as any major edit will start an edit war. As I said on the article's talk page, we as a collective whole as editors and contributors have to demonstrate we can produce articles that are excellent sources of information, that are reliable, non-biased, and ones as a whole, the community can be proud of, and we can use the media attention to show we can produce such article. • The series of protest are among the largest in Turkish history as well as human history. Mind you, this article is about a current event that has been going on for the past month. There have already been 4 rallies and a 5th one is scheduled for this weekend, another is scheduled for 19 May. It is very overwhelming for a single person to try to maintain this article and I would welcome any assistance. When the rallies come to an end, I hope to have a near feature article. It will be very hard to write about the protests once they conclude. It would loose the historic perspective too. -- Cat chi? 10:50, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • The article about ME/CFS is unbelievably poor. This disease, whatever your personal opinion on it, is known to affect 4 million Americans and around 1 in 1000 people in Western populations. However, the article is unbelievably long, full of useless and biased information and as a resource is pretty poor. There are also continuing and unresolved arguments over lots of the information, and information about research and upcoming clinical trials, for instance, is mentioned either sparingly or not at all. This article may not interest you personally, but it is important that it is thoroughly improved to make it useful to the public. Please vote! Thedreamdied 01:51, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Last time I looked (admittedly years ago) the US estimate was 800,000 patients so I think I detect definition/dx criteria creep (not suggesting Thedreamdied is responsible for that; increasingly inclusive diagnostic criteria is seen as a big problem in ME/CFS advocacy). AvB ÷ talk 10:08, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I was going on the CDC estimate in their recent cfs public information drive, which said 4 million. Thedreamdied 13:48, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The CDC have different estimates in different publications. 800,000 sounds about right for the Fukuda definition. More accurate diagnosing should (more quickly) eliminate other diseases than ME from the CFS population and thereby reduce this number. I agree that the article is presently a total mess, it is more a collection of 'my two cents' bits than a proper lemma.--Guido den Broeder 01:10, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • The article is presently filled with poorly verified information added by people with an agenda. We need to be crystal clear on what can be included and what is out. I suggest small case series that have never been cited by a systematic review are not suitable.
In general I agree however I think that leaves out some very promising recent research such as this small study http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?CMD=search&DB=pubmed Renwick 01:46, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

JFW | T@lk 21:18, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You think so? It seems to me that they're all the same thing with different names - hence 'CFS/ME' in the US. Thedreamdied 00:05, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Having separate articles for ME and PVFS could confuse things even more, a ME or PVFS diagnosis isn't based on diagnostic tests that distinguish them from CFS, but perhaps the difference between chronic fatigue and CFS needs to be further highlighted. - Tekaphor 06:26, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
They're not quite the same, although they target the same patients. ME is a disease, CFS a syndrome. In practice this means that all ME-patients have CFS, while the diagnosis of CFS is (or should be) a temporary thing until it is established that the patient has ME, or not. Furthermore, some aspects of ME are typically not included in CFS criteria, and there is a long history of ME research from before CFS was even invented. Diagnosing ME is also quite different from diagnosing CFS.--Guido den Broeder 09:31, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Tekaphor. To me, ME and CFS are broadly different words for the same thing, and thats how they are intended. Chronic Fatigue by itself is a totally different thing, its a symptom and not a disease. Thedreamdied 15:18, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think that its FAR too large - it should be divided up into other articles if necessary, similar to the Multiple Sclerosis article. There also needs to be a much better lead, and the endless 'sniping' where one POV is followed by another is ridiculous. The article should be written from the POV that CFS is real, then there should be a clear section suggesting that some people/doctors believe it isnt. The etiology section is also appalling - the only serious etiologys are "its all in the head", "it doesnt exist at all", gene/immune problems, and persistent low grade viral infections. All the other rubbish is unsourced and really unneccessary. Thedreamdied 15:18, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
A lot of the stuff in the etiology section may be useful but should be moved to a section called differential diagnosis/diseases with similar symptoms or something (which I think a lot of medical articles on rare/ hard to diagnose diseases should add). Celiac disease and arnold chiari malformation may cause similar symptoms but are definitely not the same thing as CFS/ME, they have their own articles and they do not need a lot of elaboration on the CFS/ME page. Also treatments should be listed in a single section not spead out in the etiology section- treatments for diseases such as celiac disease, allergies, etc. are already mentioned on their respective pages and shouldn't be on the CFS page at all. This section also lists tests such as testing for herpes virus/epstein barr virus, these should be moved to the testing/diagnosis section. Renwick 01:46, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There is also enough immunology information to warrant its own subsection. - Tekaphor 03:25, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Re-Renwick, i do see why it the etiology stuff should be kept, but maybe a seperate article on 'Chronic Fatigue' could have them, and then keep CFS/ME as a seperate page relating only to seriously proposed etiologies. Thedreamdied 13:13, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps the relevant information can be "strained" out and the rest deleted. - Tekaphor 15:06, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Any additions of information, removals of bad information, and anything else that could help a person understand the illness is greatly needed. Also, editing, fact checking, etc... SadanYagci 03:52, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • This is an article that is in decent shape so far, and is of personal interest to me for two reasons:

1. I studied this in my GCSE geography.
2. It was also the subject of ITV's Police, Camera, Action! in the 1996 episode The Man Who Shot OJ Programme 2, about the Los Angeles News Service.
Any help would be appreciated if you can: I would like this to be the Featured Article one day. If you want to help me or have any questions, leave a note on my talk page SunStar Net talk 18:04, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I notice that someone has already done the page move from "Energy (physics)". Hence, there is no longer a need for this article to be nominated for improvement. --PeR 16:52, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There is still a need for improvement, and particularly, the attention of experts. The lead requires a lot of hammering out yet to make it concise and clear for the uninitiated reading without sacrificing correctness for simplicity. Robert K S 17:12, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Only a Start-class article. Say what you want to about smoking, but it is an extremely important subject and it deserves a better article than it currently has. John Carter 20:54, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • The start-class label was a bit outdated so I upgraded to B-class, since it's 44 k without template, table or list-cruft. It has noticeable info gaps in sociology, medicine, physiology, public health effects and modern history, but has a far superior overall coverage when compared to, for example, tobacco smoking. • Short article (six paragraphs and a listy section). Important environmental, freshwater/marine biology, fishery topic. Lots of people live in river deltas. I'm guessing around 500 million worldwide (for instance, about 60 million in Vietnam and between 115 and 143 million in the Ganges delta), sometimes to ill effect. 82.71.48.158 19:30, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • It gave its name to a whole age, so is historically crucial and should be better than B-class.
  • If this isn't in Wikipedia, then the whole periodic table should be thrown out if that's what taking this article out means. Iron is such an important part of human construction. I cannot believe this could be gone.

  • Popular Mechanics has been a very influential magazine in the coverage of science and technology for over 100 years. Certainly throughout its history it has had cultural significance as a leading American technology publication. The current article is very short (barely two paragraphs) and says nothing of the magazine's history, significant issues or coverage, or recent events concerning the magazine. Compare with the article for Wired, which I would consider to be a relatively good article about a magazine. --Bonus Onus 03:16, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • (This article is about a proposed tidal energy scheme with over 150 years of history. It involves; environment, transport, ecology, economics - something for everyone! However it is a mass of cleanup tags (Articles needing additional references (Mar 2008, Nov 2008), Articles that may contain original research (Mar 2008, Nov 2008), Articles with unsourced statements (Oct 2007, Jul 2008, Aug 2008), Wikipedia articles in need of updating), with accusations of original research, bias etc from those who have strong feelings on the proposal. I think it is an important topic which needs lots of help from "impartial" editors to improve its quality.) --— Rod talk 16:09, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • It could be a really useful article to review the major geopolitical changes of the 20th-21st centuries. There are blanks in the knowledge of all of us (for example, it was a surprise to me that a country named Eritrea exists – because it wasn't until 1993 that it was created and it was just missing from my atlas) and it would be interesting to see how the worldscape differed from the present one just a couple of decades ago and how it changed over time to reach its today's state. There are useful articles available as resources in its "See also" section. Adam78 10:53, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I remember, say two years ago, seeing some incredibly successful article collaborations which I rarely see today. I think it was because there was lots of information available both online or already on Wikipedia. Although this isn't the greatest topic, I think it's a great one for collaboration because it doesn't require specialty sources. gren グレン 11:36, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Book series by Lemony Snicket with thirteen books and a handful of spin-off books. The article is plagued by speculation and unsourced statements. Hopefully, it can be brought up to par with Harry Potter, a similar type of series. This page and other closely related pages are primarily edited by users who have read and are fans of the books. Some input from those less familar with the series would be very helpful. ***Clamster 23:08, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • It is a well known notable drink, and basically the article has seemed to have been left to rot with hardly any refs, and needing heavy cleanup and a number of other improvements. It is having a peer review, (which is being blatantly ignored), and generally a task force of users is needed to get it to GA. Telcourbanio Care for a talk? 13:29, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • This article has huge potential, with many areas the article can expand to. I feel that the article could be something similar to Toilets in Japan with the randomness, yet interesting feel to it Some attention is needed, with a cleanup in the references section and further expansion in the lead and each of the licenses available. --TheTallOne 19:06, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • A notable topic (the board's little logo images are commonly seen on videogame boxes); article is not in a very bad condition, but could certainly do with some more work. TomasBat 20:25, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • An article in not a very good shape in proportion to its high level of notability; plus, sort of short and a bit too much of a plain list. Would certainly need more work; deserves to be an FA. TomasBat 23:59, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I've been watching this article for some time and have revised some essay-like passages without simply hacking them out. The article borders on WP:OR and some help with finding reliable secondary material would do much to help get this bird to the other side. -- Rob C. alias Alarob 01:39, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • This could be a really great article. But it's a topic which people feel obsessive about and so a) it gets bogged down in weird details sometimes and b) it attracts a lot of new/inexperienced/one-topic editors (including me). I think that with the attention of some old hand Wikipedians it could reach Featured Article status.Katsam 07:09, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • This Core Biography article is in sad shape. Sun Tzu wrote The Art of War and his writing is still considered influential today. His Wikipedia article, however, is barely more than a stub. --Kaldari 19:41, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • Actually, I agree. However, as per the article itself, the subject is one about whom very little, if anything, seems to be known. I don't know how to improve an article when there is apparently very little information on the subject available. Do you have any ideas? Alternately, if the article is, as is, basically complete, there does exist ample precedent that it could be nominated for possibly even FA despite its brevity. Maybe something like that might be the way to go. John Carter 19:46, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • An article with a very good amount of information from one side of the discussion available. Unfortunately, this has a tendency to make the article one-sided and very POV. A historically significant article that would definitely benefit from the input of neutral, objective outsiders. --John Carter 19:10, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
