Seems to be something I may like to visit in Hannibal, Missouri. events include: Tom Sawyer Fence Painting contest and the "Frog long jump". I see RS for it and it appears in many books. Does this meet WP:EVENT? The article needs work and that is why I bring it here. Lightburst (talk) 13:15, 15 February 2023 (UTC)

Held in Cork, Ireland in 2005. The article is is bad shape and fully tagged. I think a rewrite may be in order. nowhere in the article do we learn where this festival was held. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ted Jorgensen
I could do with help trying to expand the unicycling part of this article. He is notable for family connections (he is Jeff Bezos's biological father) and had a unicycling career that was making news in 1961, 1962 and 1963, but some editors don't think the 1960's part is important enough to avoid deleting this article, based on WP:1E. I came her approximately one year ago for help referencing and rewriting an article titled Doctor of Metaphysics. If you recall I started an article on Helen Hadsell and that led me to start an article on the degree. I was impressed with the ability of those here to ferret out details.
I have a similar task here with giantology. I started an article about Giant skeletons and that led me to the term giantology and giantologist which has been in use as a term and title for at least 150 years. I understand it is a fringey and hoaxey subject, but the article states that while attempting to maintain a NPOV. It may fit NFRNGE or NHOAX as a term and I believe we should cover the subject because I think it meets our notability guide with multiple reliable sources. Bruxton (talk) 18:16, 15 May 2023 (UTC)

This is a solid stub, and someone has already run down four sources in A-list publications. There is plenty of room to expand this stub. All sources are reviews of the documentary, and this reflist could use a more balanced diet, so someone experienced in television, film, and documentary articles might be able to help. The subject is also part of popular culture, so non-experts shouldn't feel put off either. Darkfrog24 (talk) 01:11, 31 July 2023 (UTC)

Concern has been expressed about WP:BLPCRIME and WP:CRIME issues about this social media influencer. There is some urgency, as this article as at WP:AFD. I've completely rewritten the article and I thought made it compliant with both of the above guidelines/policy, but comments coming in make it clear that people don't agree.
Any help in making this article compliant with WP:BLPCRIME and WP:CRIME would be very welcome.
There is lots more sources about the subject online, overwhelmingly in unreliable sources, so please don't add them in. Probably this article needs to be shorter, I'm just not sure what needs to be cut to make it compliant. CT55555(talk) 00:24, 2 September 2023 (UTC)
- Comment. I don't think this particular article is a good candidate for ARS as the relevant policy issue at hand relates specifically to the following policy language at WP:CRIME: "Generally, historic significance is indicated by sustained coverage of the event in reliable secondary sources which persists beyond contemporaneous news coverage and devotes significant attention to the individual's role." Given that the sources on this subject are all within a recent timeframe and are exclusively connected to on-going news coverage, I don't think there is going to be way to solve the problem through adding more available RS. There has not been sufficient time for the development of other types of RS as required by this policy langue. It's a little unfair to essentially ask people at ARS to locate coverage that would be a technical impossibility to exist given that the sources about the subject are all tied up in current news events in relation to an alleged crime that has yet to go through the court system. In short not enough time has passed for sources to develop which "persist beyond contemporaneous news coverage" (which is still on-going). Let's not send the ARS team on a fool's errand. That said, anyone still wishing to attempt to address the problem is welcome to try, I just don't think its likely to be successful because the types of sources needed (ie. something other than contemporaneous media coverage) have not been published yet (if they will ever be published at all).4meter4 (talk)
- CRIME is one of the special notability guidelines. It might fail CRIME but pass GNG, in which case GNG can be a valid rationale. Also, ARS is not a "team". I don't what it is, but team implies something ARS is not. -- GreenC 05:11, 2 September 2023 (UTC)
- I don’t agree with that interpretation of policy at all. WP:BLP policy trumps GNG in this case and WP:BLPCRIME (and more broadly WP:NOTSCANDAL) makes the language at CRIME more prescient even than that of GNG.4meter4 (talk) 06:36, 2 September 2023 (UTC)

- I was able to determine that the area is part of The Noises in the Auckland Region of NZ. I found sources which cover it in depth and others that are more cursory. I also found an image of the Ahaaha on commons. I imagine there is more that can be done but I am a lone voice in the wilderness so I will leave it to others to see if I have provided enough rs to show notability. - I think you have shown notability. Given current voting results, I don't see how to overturn the deletion tide without a major change in weather. The special guideline Wikipedia:Notability_(geographic_features) warns: "aggregate sources tell us nothing about why a particular object is distinguished". This doesn't make sense to me. Some have worked with locations before and are thus more familiar with this sort of thing. What is the best way to sort the information? Some lists show all the places in a state, others only the populated places. A previous merger discussion was done entirely by one person. So need more people familiar with this sort of thing to have a look at it. Dream Focus 20:47, 14 November 2023 (UTC)

I managed to find multiple RS to improve the article. The military organization per se was established in 2023. I suggest that the article be sorted as Stub instead of of it being redirected to Simon Ekpa. It's a notable Article under "Military and warfare" category of Wikipedia. Many existing nations today had their Liberation Armies prior to independence according to historical trends. It has RS which will be updated by me and other editors. The subject is a developing one and hope it expands as time goes on. I wish to be closely monitored and directed as I improve the article. --Fugabus (talk) 11:23, 18 February 2024 (UTC)

- User:Esowteric: These are books. 239 books. Not all are reliable and/or 'significant coverage', but many are. It's just like Google Books, you can search inside, and view limited numbers of pages. You can adjust which page number using the URL. If you don't have a free account recommend signing up. If you need help accessing a book let me know as I have full access to every book. You should be able to find numerous good quality sources if you spend 30 minutes or so going through them. -- GreenC 17:15, 16 February 2024 (UTC)

- Google Book Search only works on the pages it makes available for free preview, so you can't actually search the entire book, only a small portion of it. Archive.org is the real deal, you can search the entire book. That plus the millions of books often gets better results than Google. The archive allows up to 10 page views per day, first come first serve, so whatever pages were viewed in the past 24 hours (by anyone) are the only pages available for viewing. Thus use search first to identify candidate pages before opening to that page and locking in one of the 10 pages. -- GreenC 18:39, 16 February 2024 (UTC)

Update: Got 1 delete vote; provided new citations (listed above); got 1 keep vote for hopefully passing WP:GNG. AfD has now been relisted. I'm hoping that someone will be able to verify the citations, especially the three from The Washingon Post. The nominator tells me he can't do that as they're behind the WP paywall. Then the "notability" template on the article can maybe be changed by an uninvolved editor to "refimprove" (?) Thanks, Esowteric + Talk + Breadcrumbs 17:48, 21 February 2024 (UTC)

I hope this was the right place, I was looking through AFDs. Alex Lozupone was nominated and now I am overly confused at the discussion. I think from how I understand the policies it does pass as I discussed at the discussion but I need to step away, but I don’t want everyone else’s efforts to go away because I don’t understand policy. This musicians is not super notable but seems somehow to have some sources, maybe it is not enough, maybe there are some more. I created this article before knowing that he also does music. I don’t care to be involved in the harsh discussion anymore where people quickly vote without reading. Thank you. Maybe I am wrong, but the article was around a long time, and the user who nominated it and some other I created has stopped editing so it is confusing. - If we cant find every single game, We might have to add a few [citation needed] to the infobox. The alternative is to delete them, as sadly we cant use another wikipedia page as a source. - Wikipedia:Ignore all rules is a founding policy. The guidelines are just guidelines. Follow policy. Wikipedia:Notability begins with: This page documents an English Wikipedia notability guideline. Editors should generally follow it, though exceptions may apply. Exceptions links to the policy of ignore all rules, which says "If a rule prevents you from improving or maintaining Wikipedia, ignore it."
- There is no doubt that the games exist, you can find information about them, and pictures of them. So you don't need a reliable source telling you they exist. Also if they have their own Wikipedia article, you can go there and find a reference if you want one. I did that with dozens of them, then didn't see the point to keep bothering with it. People can click the link and read about it. Dream Focus 15:43, 29 May 2024 (UTC)
