Mahatma Gandhi

Is Mahatma Gandhi accredited university in Ghana, if yes why are the details of the school not being alight — Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.190.46.57 (talk) 00:31, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

The "Mahatma Gandhi University (Paramount Academy for Career Excellence - PACE)" is shown in our article List of universities in Ghana, although it doesn't have its own article, and the entry is not referenced. That list is supposed to contain only accredited institutions. It's shown as being affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, India, which is an accredited institution in India but that doesn't say anything about its status in Ghana. PACE's own website asserts that it's "approved by National Accreditation Board (NAB) Ghana".

I'm not sure what you mean by "why are the details of the school not being alight". If you mean why does it not have its own article, it's just that no one has as yet cared enough to write one. Rojomoke (talk) 05:00, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

he would need to have a stand alone article about him to be listed, and we do not seem to have one now. while he may meet the criteria, it may also be that his only claim to fame is participation in the creation of the Sugar Bowl and so no stand alone coverage but rather incorporation in the Sugar Bowl article.

if you do think he does meet the criteria, you can suggest that it be created by using the process at WP:RA (it would help if you brought links from reliably published sources -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 05:52, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

Users Wgolf and Jim1138 are discriminating against me by falsely marking my articles as an advertisement.

They're not letting me post my article that covers my new factual technology.

I didn't violate any terms of service, however, these companies do because they advertise products, services and companies as a whole, which goes against your terms of service.

Sorry for the caps - I copied the title from the wp:Signpost when I tried to investigate why this week's edition of the Signpost is not available. latex parser error

It works for me but I purged the page. In the last couple of days there has been a math problem. It should be fixed now but some pages still have to be purged to apply the fix. If you still see a problem then please be more specific. PrimeHunter (talk) 12:30, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

Co-ords into a table

I have the required geographical coordinates for the table at Bude_Canal#The_inclined_planes but can't figure out how to get them into this particular table. (The canal articles I'm familiar with use a different type of table.) Could someone pop them in for me please?

@Maahirah sampson: Hi, you copy-pasted a giant block of text that isn't formatted like an article and contains no references. Wikipedia does not accept original research so if this is an article that you are writing based on your personal knowledge, experiences and opinions, that is not acceptable. Hi, I assume you're talking about this Article for Creation. The article was created in September 2013. It appears that it was submitted for consideration twice, and both times it was rejected. The reasons for the rejections are listed in the large conspicuous banners at the top of the page. The first time was because the article had no content. The second time was because the writers failed to establish the subject's notability. If you have a close connection to the subject, you are strongly discouraged from editing, because that would mean you have a conflict of interest. Further, the article is not written in proper encyclopedic tone, and contains subjective promotional language like "daring touch of colors have enthralled prominent business and public figures of Indonesia, nonetheless captivated the heart of nations fashion enthusiasts." Also, the article doesn't tell readers what the company/person/organization is, or what they do. Hope that helps, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:39, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

Possible bug regarding MathJax?

I seem to have a little problem with formulas displayed using MathJax. That is, with downmost option ticked in Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-rendering preferences->appearance.

It is my understanding that a formula with indention by colon-sign should appear left (but of course a bit indented)

Like in this example which works like expected (with text on same line):

$e=mc^{2}$ (Einstein)

But if I try a formula with indention and without any other text on the same line it is displayed in the center:

$e=mc^{2}$

A query in my home-wiki de:Wikipedia:FZW#Problem_bei_der_Ausrichtung_von_mathematischen_Formeln_mit_MathJax_und_Browser_Firefox resulted in 2 users that experience the same unexpected behaviour.

My system: Window 7, 64 Bit (up to date). Affected browsers are Firefox 27.0 and Internet Explorer 11 (Update 11.0.2).

Another config reported to be affected is Linux, Chrome 33.

So I think, this should be checked into. If the problem can be confirmed, I would be very grateful if someone could issue a bug report. I don't see fit to handle this for lack of experience.

Nominating an article for deletion: what did I do wrong?

I nominated for deletion article Kentaro Sato. I followed to the letter the instructions here. Yet somehow two entries for that nomination for deletion were created here.

What did I do wrong? Is that serious? Is there a way to fix that? Were all the appropriate steps taken for the nomination for deletion?

@Jarkeld: I don't know what you mean. I followed exactly the steps described at Wikipedia:Afd#How_to_nominate_a_single_page_for_deletion. I guess that probably means I did it manually. I may have made a mistake or there may be something wrong with the steps given there. If someone could double check (for future users) that would be great. Referencing

Hei all,

I am trying to reference and FYI have read the:

"A secondary source provides an author's own thinking based on primary sources, generally at least one step removed from an event. It contains an author's interpretation, analysis, or evaluation of the facts, evidence, concepts, and ideas taken from primary sources. Secondary sources are not necessarily independent or third-party sources. They rely on primary sources for their material, making analytic or evaluative claims about them"

So i have made a edit in Wikipedia where i have compered and analyzed using multiple online information and made a evaluation witch i uploaded. Everything is in line with the general structure of using a secondary source but the page still shows This article relies on references to primary sources. Please add references to secondary or tertiary sources.

I cited two online references in the text and the rest is my judgement on the issue when benchmarking the problem.

So what am i doing wrong? Why doesn't Wikipedia recognize the secondary source?

Those notices are not removed by the Wikipedia software. They are removed by actual humans who correct the problems that the notice points out. If you believe that the issue has been fixed, you may remove the notice yourself. Dismas|^(talk) 23:56, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

Dodger67, the only article they've edited is Cologne Business School. By my count, half of the references are from the school's own web site. I don't normally deal too much with this area though, so I hesitate to remove the notice myself. Dismas|^(talk) 00:52, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

@Sakkosekk - One would expect that a "serious" business school would be discussed fairly frequently in the mainstream business press of at least it's home country. Look at the major German business magazines and the business sections of the bigger national newspapers for source articles. Such newspapers and magazines are what we mean by "secondary sources" - the school's own website is a primary source. Unfortunately the sourcing of the de.WP article is just as poor as this one so it isn't really useful. I am assuming you can read German. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 07:12, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
