No, because if the image is needed at all (and I doubt this), then I don't see why its resolution should be reduced. -- Hoary (talk) 01:44, 12 April 2020 (UTC)

Delete the article

Only administrators can perform deletion. If you want to request for deletion, then you can put {{delete}} on the page. Wynn Liaw (talk) 02:09, 12 April 2020 (UTC)

Size looks fine to me. Are you trying to avoid the second image from pushing down into the references? (Which I see using Vector/desktop view but not Minerva/mobile on a tablet in portrait mode.) Please keep in mind that web pages don't lay out the same as print materials, and will render differently depending on the device and the user-selected skin. You could lay out the images side-by-side, but this mightn't look good for just two. Somebody might know and chime in if there is any Manual of Style guidance about this. Or is there a different reason why you think the image should be smaller? Pelagic (talk) 01:12, 13 April 2020 (UTC)

You seem to be doubling a lot of characters (an extra colon above (originally) and two spaces between each word. The reference was showing the error "Check date values in: |accessdate=". This was because of:

• |accessdate=12 April 20200

Note the extra space and extra '0'. I changed it to:

• |accessdate=12 April 2020

A number of people have been puzzled by your posts. May I suggest that, if there is a problem editing with whatever device you are using when making and not being able to fix these errors, please don't edit with that device. Your edit history shows other edits that do not exhibit these problems (although, looking further, I do see some double-spacing, which is undesirable, though fortunately often invisible to readers). —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 02:35, 12 April 2020 (UTC)

Yes real spaces do not influence the citation templates working. Contrariwise sometimes may happens that deleting spaces in references seems resolving an apparent error. But if there is an error caused by spaces it's because are not spaces (decimal code 32, hex 20) but invisible characters copied and pasted from external editors. Two different issues. One is the extra zero in the year, which caused the error. The other is the double-spacing. I contend that it is disruptive to write source text that looks like this. Before you move User:McAnnis59/sandbox, you have more work to do (e.g. provide reliable sources, fix the infobox error, change "it's" to "its", remove the brackets around "[]Apollo Temple]]", remove the duplicate image). (edit conflict)@McAnnis59: If you consider the sandbox draft to be ready for mainspace, you can place {{subst:submit}} at the top of the draft which will submit it for review. However, I would not recommend doing so until you have corrected the large angry red error message and some other formatting issues and added, at the very least, one reliable source. IP number, you are using a phone. I very occasionally edit with a phone myself. It was cheap when I bought it, and it's four years old now. Its battery is almost dead. However, it lets me make the kinds of edit that you say you cannot do. I therefore do not understand your inability to edit -- particularly in view of your demonstrated ability to write about your inability to edit. (As for me, I loathe typing via anything less than eight fingers and a thumb, and wouldn't consider using any phone to post requests here.) -- Hoary (talk) 08:57, 12 April 2020 (UTC)

I would concur with Hoary. While we appreciate you being on the lookout for things, there are not users here standing by to do the work you find that is needed, for you. It's time you learned to make some of these changes yourself using whatever means you have at your disposal. I also agree, and this has been going on for five years or so now. There has been no improvement in the editor's skills despite being helped dozens of times at least. Further, in this case, the error was not something they 'found' but something they 'did' as is usually the case. Sees the red error message (whether they read it or not is open to question) come running to the help desk expecting it to be fixed for them. WP:CIR has been mentioned more than once. Eagleash, I'm in agreement. I think it is great that OP wants to improve articles, but it is reasonable to expect that, when someone helps you, to understand what was done so you can do it yourself next time. That said, perhaps this help desk is enabling the activity, but jumping to help whenever asked. As someone who likes to help others, I understand the desire to simply help and move on, but perhaps it is time to gently suggest that OP look back through previous requests and see how to handle the next one themselves.--S Philbrick(Talk) 11:38, 12 April 2020 (UTC)

From past experience, if not helped here at HD, the editor will go to a friendly editor's talk page and make similar requests. Usually they get helped here, if not by one of the regulars, then a 'casual' volunteer who doesn't know the background. Viz, Hoary's recent request about the device used; they were unaware of the long-term issue until I posted at their TP. The failure to take note of *any* advice given is particularly frustrating. Shinju It is not possible for both technical and legal reasons to delete an account. If you no longer wish to edit, just abandon the account. If you are in good standing and intend to never return, courtesy vanishing may be an option. 331dot (talk) 10:08, 12 April 2020 (UTC)

Table within a refn tag?

It works if the table starts on a new line and some or all pipes are replaced with {{!}}.

I created this page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punjab_Irrigation_Department more than 90 days ago. I see that the page is still not indexed by google. Is there something I did not do right. Your search engine bubble will be different from mine, but for what it's worth when I search in Google for this name I do get the en.wikipedia page about it -- though not at the top but instead a screenful or so below. -- Hoary (talk) 13:03, 12 April 2020 (UTC)

It's the sixth result for me when I searched. Adding 'wiki' to the query, like "Punjab Irrigation Department wiki" makes it the first. Wikipedia result is mostly among the top results but not necessarily always the first. So you should check across the page and make sure you're not viewing cached result page. – Ammarpad (talk) 13:11, 12 April 2020 (UTC)

Incorrect edit conflict

Something like that's happened a couple of times to me in the last week or so. It's not a normal edit-conflict, though. I don't get the new edit-conflict resolving tool (or the old one). I just get an edit page again, but without my edits. I have successfully used the browser back button to get back to the edit page as it was before I saved, and have then successfully saved it. —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 19:15, 12 April 2020 (UTC)

Images missing from articles

This is almost certainly caused either by an issue with your device or your network connection. Is there any unusual behavior with images on other websites? If you have an adblocker or other browser extension running in your phone's browser, it could be blocking the images from loading for some reason. Or your Internet service provider could be filtering images. Can you try switching between Wi-Fi and cellular "data" if possible and seeing whether that makes a difference? And could you tell us your cell provider and/or whatever Wi-Fi connection you're using? --47.146.63.87 (talk) 17:26, 12 April 2020 (UTC)

Image from Geograph.co.uk

Hi - I often use images from geograph.co.uk which are already on commons. I would like to use this image in an article, but I can't seem to find a copy of it on commons - am I looking wrong? I'm not seeing that image on Commons—it's not in the "Cullen House" or "Earls of Seafield" categories, where one would expect to find it if it were there. If you run across a Geograph image that has not already been uploaded to Commons, you can certainly upload it yourself. (I've done this several times, as with File:Pierowall Lady Kirk - geograph.org.uk - 953499.jpg.) Be sure to include the Geograph template when you upload the file.

Deor sorry, I'm a bit of a newb on uploading to commons. I'm looking at the upload wizard, but it's not giving me any options (that I can see?) to upload with a template (or even to select a CC2.0 license). @Girth Summit: I haven't uploaded anything to Commons for a while, but don't the "Release rights", "Describe", and "Add data" steps of the wizard give one the opportunity to add such stuff? Deor, annoyingly, the 'Release rights' step only give you a series of tick-box options - CC4.0, 3.0, 2.5, or 0.0 - CC2.0 isn't an option. I'll ask at the helpdesk. Biased editor spam-edits wiki-article. How do I fix it?

Someone spammed the 'Operation Ivory Coast' page on April 2, 2020 with biased edits to the point that it can't be reverted back to the last NPOV version dated March 4, 2020.

The main issue is that the article, as modified by the last editor, is now heavily biased to the point that the article itself cannot be taken seriously. I can only assume the last editor was an American, who may have been offended at the article not showing the US armed forces as victorious. MainBattery (talk) 19:04, 12 April 2020 (UTC)

How to request for assistance with articles

I'm wondering how to request assistance in page creation here. I'm creating many redirect pages for the US presidential elections and it's been quite a bit of work and wondering if there's a way to "call-in" other Wikipedians.
