The article ISSOW has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- This subject appears to be produced by one organization and I'm having a hard time finding multiple reliable sources that showcase it that aren't created by the company itself.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. SarahStierch (talk) 05:58, 24 February 2012 (UTC)
Renewable energy task force
I am thinking of forming a Renewable energy task force, since we can cover a significant amount of articles within the scope. A proposal had previously been formed, but could not ultimately form it due to lack of members. I am opening this for a second time. What do you think? extra999 (talk) 02:54, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
- Seems to be the same issue, people interested have little time. Is not a taskforce for kids apparently :). Happy to participate (as much I can). Maybe best way forward is to just start it. --ELEKHHT 12:50, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, just got to see that, and probably this whole project is almost inactive. Maybe we are just better without a task force and contribute in our own areas, --extra999 (talk) 13:17, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
Edits to Chevron Corporation Page
Hello all,
Justin from Chevron here.
For a while now, I've been posting to the Chevron Talk page about improving the accuracy of the entry. During this time, I've been a little surprised that I've been the only active user there. I've posted edit requests for nearly a year and hadn't received responses. After time passed and my notes went ignored, I went ahead and addressed minor inaccuracies that were factual in nature.
Given, the recent discussion that's been taking place about how companies interact with Wikipedia, there's a bit more clarity around the escalation process. Thus, I'm putting out a humble plea for COI help.
Make no mistake... We have always:
- Acted transparently and in good faith
- Refrained from "whitewashing"
- Only addressed uncontroversial matters verifiable via multiple third party sources
- Provided rationale and objective references for any edit we've made
- Followed what appeared to be current guidelines (turns out there are a number floating around)
With all due humility, I think the accuracy of the entry has improved significantly. As such, and in an effort to further improve the entry, I'm asking for someone (or group of folks) without a COI to adopt this entry and work with me to continue to better the page.
I appreciate your time and interest; I look forward to working with you.

Wind farm coverage
I think overall we have quite good coverage of individual wind farms on WP. But there is a tendency to focus on too many smaller wind farms, often less than 50 MW capacity. Would anyone be willing to help correct this situation by starting more articles on larger new wind farms such as the Blue Creek Wind Park (304 MW) [1], Flat Ridge 2 Wind Farm (419 MW) [2], Trianel Borkum West II (400 MW) [3], and others? Masdar City, Masdar Institue, Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company updates
Dear Wikipedia Community
First off, I would like to thank you for incorporating information about Masdar on your website. As Wikipedia is a main source of information for many of us here at Masdar, it has come to the attention of many of our staff (and many of our visitors) that the information about Masdar and Masdar City is outdated or incorrect. Of course, we admire and respect the fact that the information pages regarding comapanies on Wikipedia are designed to be updated by members of the community and through public information. Direct current
In direct current resistive circuits, electrical power is calculated using Joule's law: ...(math)... where P is the electric power, V the potential difference, and I the electric current.work done =chrge*potential

Renewable Heat
The following generalisation in the Renewable Heat article is not objective nor valid:
"Renewable electric power is becoming cheap and convenient enough to place it, in many cases, within reach of the average consumer. By contrast, the market for renewable heat is mostly inaccessible to domestic consumers due to inconvenience of supply, and high capital costs."
Look at Sweden, Denmark, Austria, Latvia, Finland, etc. These countries have a much larger share of renewable energy in final energy consumption than the countries that people normally focus on for renewables (Germany, Spain, USA, China, etc). They have done it mainly through renewable heat, and at much lower cost per kWh and per tCO2 than achieving similar levels through renewable electricity. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bgprior (talk • contribs) 17:20, 8 July 2012 (UTC)
- I would agree. Our WP coverage of renewable electricity is really quite good, but much more could be done to improve our articles on renewable heat. Johnfos (talk) 19:09, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

Incandescent Lightbulb Information Addition
The page on incandescent lightbulbs needs this information added:
"The white powdery substance on the inside of most common household and commercial incandescent bulbs is called Kaolin. Kaolin, or Kaolinite, is a white, chalky clay in a very fine powder form, that is blown in and electrostaticlly deposited on the interior of the bulb. It serves to very effectively diffuse the light emitted from the filament, producing a more gentle and evenly distributed light. Manufacturers are able to vary the thickness, composition and total amount of the kaolin in a bulb in order to adjust the characteristics of the final light emitted from the bulb. Many brands are established around this, notably General Electric's "Reveal" series. Kaolin diffused bulbs are used extensively in interior lighting because of their comparatively gentle light."
The page is semi-protected, and while I am an expert on the subject, I am not a registered user. Just thought I'd make my little contribution here and there. If someone could please add.

Energy Policy and Statistics in Africa
Hello, I am a new contributor to Wikipedia, and am going to work on updating and expanding the Energy in Africa and Energy Policy in Africa articles. These are not currently listed on the Wikiproject energy mainpage, but I think that both fit well under the theme of the project. I am going to add new energy usage statistics from the International Energy Agency and expand information about the different energy resources available across the continent in the Energy in Africa article. In the policy article, I plan to use sources from the UN, World Bank, European Union Joint Research Commission, and Science Direct journal to present an overview of energy initiatives across the continent and how those initiatives have effected the citizens of Africa. Tamil Nadu Electricity Board and TNEB Limited
There is an ongoing dispute if the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board and TNEB Limited should be one or two articles. The proponent of separate articles says that they are different entities and therefore should have have different articles. Proponents of merged article say that even if they may be legally different entities, TNEB Limited is a successor of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board which took over Tamil Nadu Electricity Board employees and obligations and restructuring of the company alone is not a reason to create a separate article if the article duplicates information already provided in another article. The TNEB Limited provides mainly information about the restructuring of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board. Therefore, these articles were merged on 22 May 2012. Afterward, there merger was undone several times by now blocked user and his/her sockpuppets. The latest re-creation of TNEB Limited was done by new user on 24 November. The merged version is here and restored article is TNEB Limited. This is little bit messy as there has been recently a number of copy-paste moves but hopefully the situation is understandable. Your comments are appreciated. Beagel (talk) 05:44, 28 November 2012 (UTC)

Wind power by country navbar 4x
The navbar Template:Wind power by country basically duplicates the information already present in Template:Wind power and Template:Renewable energy by country. On top of that in Wind power in the European Union there is a fourth navbar with the same content using the "Europe topic|Wind power in". What is the best way to rationalise these? Should it be deleted, should there be an instruction as to how to not use it, or should the country lists be removed from the other navbars? --ELEKHHT 00:30, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
- Don't have any good solution but it seems that the best solution could be to redirect Template:Wind power by country to Template:Renewable energy by country and remove country lists from other templates. As an alternative, there should be clear instructions to use by country templates only for by country articles and in this case not to use any other template for the article. Beagel (talk) 08:35, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
- Having a second look at it, the main problem seems to be the RE by country navbar. I suggested changing this at Template talk:Renewable energy by country#Navbar content. Than template:Wind power could be kept as is while the "by country" section from template:wind removed. --ELEKHHT 21:20, 29 December 2012 (UTC)

- Well done. I think that this is quite a good start for the article. I also think that you should nominate it for DYK. Beagel (talk) 20:18, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
- Article still needs a map of the route which shouldn't have copyright and/or fair use issues. Without a map I'd be reluctant to nominate the article for anything. Not sure if there's a really good hook for DYK in that article yet anyways. Although... if the Seaway's reversal ends up noticeably affecting the crude price spread between Cushing and Brent, that might make for an interesting DYK. Information and map for Prudhoe Bay oil spill article
Back in late June I left a request on the talk page for the Prudhoe Bay oil spill article. Since then I have contacted an editor who was very active in the development of this article, but they do not appear to have time to help right now. More recently I took this request to the WikiProject Alaska talk page and have not received a response. As I have explained in a previous request here, I am a BP employee and the company's representative on Wikipedia, and for that reason I do not make any direct edits to articles so I would appreciate any help that editors here can provide.
The request on the talk page addresses some details that I think could be added to the article and provides a map that would be beneficial to the article. Can an editor here review this request and make updates as appropriate? Thanks. Arturo at BP (talk) 05:11, 14 August 2013 (UTC)

Photovoltaic power is AC or DC and for power station gross or net power ?
In the power generation box the installed capacity should be the sum of the nominal peak power of the modules or the output to grid (i.e. after the power transformer or the inverters, whichever is last) ?
- Example: the Montalto di Castro Photovoltaic Power Station states 85 MW (DC) when only 72 MW peak are delivered to the grid. Obviously this changes the power ranking of the most largest PV stations.
In the power generation box the power station installed capacity should be the gross power or the net power provided to the grid ?
--Robertiki (talk) 04:29, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
- I see that it should be "gross power" i.e. "current gross installed capacity" for all power stations. Should this means that for the PV stations, I should take the sum of the modules DC peak power? --Robertiki (talk) 04:51, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
Combating content fork and spam in solar and alternate energy field articles
"I have noticed that there are many CFORK pages that contaminates Wikipedia with junk pulled from commercial sites that are written to promote their sales or publicity but do not objectively provide informative materials. How do we go about tackling this?"
This is closely related (not specifically Wikipedia:Content forking) and I hope it might help: I've been thinking about an incremental approach to commercial content in general-topic articles, beginning with re-outlining: Perhaps focus on refining the definitions of the topic at the top of each article? In my reading, difficult-to-edit commercial spamming often involves limited or appropriated general topic definitions, as if those commercial options were the primary topic. First improve the topic definition at the top of the article. Second, write introductions and move information about those commercial options to subtopic status. Some editors might be bold enough to give commercial information "see also" status and move the product information to their own articles, but this re-outlining approach is more incremental. The idea is to re-enforce the logic and improve the framework of an article topic and outline, showing readers and future editors how some subtopics may be less important, shortened, or removed. For forking, perhaps this same incremental approach might help show how multiple articles are claiming the same topic. Ellisun (talk) 21:38, 7 October 2013 (UTC)

The current table is a mixture of Wiki articles and related company website links AND outage map links. If no one objects I shall begin revising that table into a 4 column table that columnizes the correct links types. I know that external links are normally supposed to be at the bottom but in order for this table to be a value I feel it need all three links organized into this one table. for example - Column one - the state/city , column 2 - the relevant Wiki Link, Column 3 - he Company External website a column 4- The external link for the outage page of that company.

Imposition of British terminology "power station" as global standard?
Hm, found out a lot has happened since a CfD about the terminology "power station" long ago, the US articles were granted exemption from imposition of the British usage as global standard, but even that's been overturned in times since. By who and when were so many articles and categories changed/overhauled and where was the discussion?? See Wikipedia_talk:Canadian_Wikipedians'_notice_board#Power_station_-_.3E_Generating_station_bulk_CfD.Skookum1 (talk) 06:04, 17 February 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Skookum1, wasn't aware that "power station" was necessarily british...I have seen it used in placed in the US, like William H. Zimmer Power Station for example. I don't know or do much with categories (maybe I should do more?) but I was taking my lead from here and there that seem to have a global flavour. I guess by the way I spelled flavour I have given the game away! Cheers,--Graham Proud (talk) 06:38, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

Popular pages tool update
As of January, the popular pages tool has moved from the Toolserver to Wikimedia Tool Labs. The code has changed significantly from the Toolserver version, but users should notice few differences. Please take a moment to look over your project's list for any anomalies, such as pages that you expect to see that are missing or pages that seem to have more views than expected. Note that unlike other tools, this tool aggregates all views from redirects, which means it will typically have higher numbers. (For January 2014 specifically, 35 hours of data is missing from the WMF data, which was approximated from other dates. For most articles, this should yield a more accurate number. However, a few articles, like ones featured on the Main Page, may be off).
Web tools, to replace the ones at tools:~alexz/pop, will become available over the next few weeks at toollabs:popularpages. All of the historical data (back to July 2009 for some projects) has been copied over. The tool to view historical data is currently partially available (assessment data and a few projects may not be available at the moment). The tool to add new projects to the bot's list is also available now (editing the configuration of current projects coming soon). Unlike the previous tool, all changes will be effective immediately. OAuth is used to authenticate users, allowing only regular users to make changes to prevent abuse. A visible history of configuration additions and changes is coming soon. Once tools become fully available, their toolserver versions will redirect to Labs.
If you have any questions, want to report any bugs, or there are any features you would like to see that aren't currently available on the Toolserver tools, see the updated FAQ or contact me on my talk page. Mr.Z-bot (talk) (for Mr.Z-man) 05:04, 23 February 2014 (UTC)

Technical level of article on fluid catalytic cracking
This is a nice article for chemical, petroleum and similar engineering professionals. Not so much for someone who just wants to understand, at a high level, how this process works.
If the author of this article could write another one for non-specialists, that would be really helpful to anyone who wants to know about this stuff, but doesn't have the technical background. Leave out the acronyms, and especially, especially, explain the material you consider to be very basic. It's the basic stuff I wanted to know, and unfortunately, the article was way above my level of understanding. Degree in physics here, so not an idiot.

BP updates based on annual report
I have been suggesting updates to the BP article based on the publication of BP's annual report earlier this year. I posted a new set of updates recently, but there has not yet been any reply. I hope to find someone here who can review the requests.
All the edits are very straightforward and can be viewed on the talk page, but to briefly summarize them:
- Operating income, profit, and total equity need to be updated in the infobox.
- Revenue, operating income and net income need to be updated in the infobox as well as the "Corporate affairs" section.
- The "Operations" section requires several changes including updating:
- Number of employees
- Amount invested in energy development
- Information about natural gas and oil production
- Addition of newly won leases in the Gulf
- Stake percentage in the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System
- Amount invested in renewable energy sources
As stated in another message here previously, I am BP's representative on Wikipedia, so I avoid making any direct edits myself. I would appreciate it if someone here could make these updates. Thanks. Arturo at BP (talk) 21:23, 20 May 2014 (UTC)

Help with new article about Anbaric Transmission?
Hello, I've recently been working on behalf of Anbaric Transmission, an energy transmission company, to develop a Wikipedia article about their company. As an editor with a financial conflict of interest, I drafted the article and submitted it to the Articles for Creation queue (rather than creating it myself) just over four weeks ago. However, it looks like the queue is quite backlogged, and no editors have yet been able to take a look at the draft. I'm thus reaching out here to try and help out the folks at AfC by finding knowledgeable editors who might be willing to take a look at my draft. If there's someone here who is interested, you can find the draft here. Thanks so much, ChrisPond (Talk · COI) 20:47, 4 June 2014 (UTC)

Leaflet For Wikiproject Energy At Wikimania 2014
Hi all,
My name is Adi Khajuria and I am helping out with Wikimania 2014 in London.
One of our initiatives is to create leaflets to increase the discoverability of various wikimedia projects, and showcase the breadth of activity within wikimedia. Any kind of project can have a physical paper leaflet designed - for free - as a tool to help recruit new contributors. These leaflets will be printed at Wikimania 2014, and the designs can be re-used in the future at other events and locations.
This is particularly aimed at highlighting less discoverable but successful projects, e.g:
• Active Wikiprojects: Wikiproject Medicine, WikiProject Video Games, Wikiproject Film
• Tech projects/Tools, which may be looking for either users or developers.
• Less known major projects: Wikinews, Wikidata, Wikivoyage, etc.
• Wiki Loves Parliaments, Wiki Loves Monuments, Wiki Loves ____
• Wikimedia thematic organisations, Wikiwomen’s Collaborative, The Signpost

True origin of hydrocarbons
By taking the strong evidences of both biotic as well as abiotic theory we can easily conclude it that Global commercial interesting hydrocarbons has been expelled from organic rich thermally mature sedimentary rocks from those that essentially has been formed with the involvement of abiotic hydrocarbons and these abiotic hydrocarbons has been once huge present on the surface of the earth like currently huge present on the surface of the Titan.so biotic sources are the major contributor in global commercial interesting hydrocarbons also. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sureshbansal342 (talk • contribs) 07:31, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
VAM Joint
When looking at the history of VAM drilling there is no mention of who developed it in the first place thus revolutionising oil and gas exploration by providing a gradual transition from rigid drill collars to more flexible drill pipes. VAM takes its name from Vallourec André Madrel. Jehan Duret commonly known as Jean Duret was working under André Madrel when he first developed the joint later becoming head of the section himself. After his death, some of the files he had left behind containing his research and development work were passed on to his Engineering School, ' École Nationale Supérieure d'Arts et Métiers (ENSAM) of which he was an alumni or a 'Gadzarts' . He spent his later years defending the patents and copyrights of the Joint in the face of the competition and in 1977 Vallourec filed an application to the 'Préfecture de Paris' to grant him the title of 'Chevalier de l'Ordre du Mérite' although it did not come to fruition due to an administrative error at some point during the negotiations.

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal
Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! New approach using one natural magnet to produce energy
Hi I just had an idea that I just have to get out there. I don't care how ( or who makes it a reality , If it works. ) but realizing the urgent need for energy, I just had to give it a go. As we all know a natural magnet can " lift or pull " more then its own weight. It is precisely this that I wish to solve to produce energy. In the past multiple magnets just lock up, however by design I would like to attempt to use one natural magnet and the force of gravity to produce a direct current. By design I mean to use a pendulum with the natural magnet as the weight. By placing the pendulum in a vacuum with a high tolerance between the magnet and copper, ( magnet can be made in many shapes as to get the maximum effect ) I hope to produce a spark. Here's how it might work. With the weight of the magnet starting at the 12 o'clock position ( in a vacuum ) then falling with copper or maybe a better material along the path taken we can produce a current that could be stored for use at a " Timely moment ". In a vacuum the weight of the pendulum can carry almost back to the starting position before falling back. That would allow the pendulum effect to take place, back and forth as long is necessary to produce a large enough a spark of energy to activate an electronic magnet to repel the natural magnet in order to start the same process over again. The circumference size and strength of the magnet are beyond my understanding but if the idea is doable, I can imagine a peak performance on the balance of those two. I would imagine this would be based on the strength of the magnet able to lift more then its own weight. TYVM for taking the time to read this, Don Mathieu P.S. I imagine the principle of the idea can be made in several ways. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.27.152.35 (talk) 14:30, 23 October 2014 (UTC)

WikiProject X is live!
Hello everyone!
You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!
Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.
Inconsistent naming of power station articles
I have just been looking through articles on Scottish power stations and I notice an inconsistency in their naming. Some have "power station" all in lower case, e.g. Longannet power station, Methil power station, whereas others are capitalised: Peterhead Power Station, Lerwick Power Station. I'm not sure whether these really count as proper names to merit capitals. Does this project have any guidance on the matter? --Deskford (talk) 14:06, 29 December 2014 (UTC)
- I generally capitalize it all not only for consistency but I find it the proper name most of the time. I also apply common name as well but it can be difficult to determine. Took a look at Longannet and capitalization seems to be a trend if not the proper name. Not sure how other editors feel on the subject.--NortyNort (Holla) 15:18, 29 December 2014 (UTC)

Create page for Tervita
Hello,
I work in the communications department at Tervita. We noticed that we don't have a Wikipedia page. Some of the former companies that are now amalgamated under the Tervita umbrella include CCS Midstream Services (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CCS_Midstream_Services), Hazco Environmental Services, and more.
How can we go about creating a Wikipedia entry for Tervita?
Thank you, 204.12.145.65 (talk) 17:02, 9 February 2015 (UTC) Julia Marshall Sr. Advisor, Communications Tervita (403) 234-4893 jumarshall@tervita.com
- Hey Julia. We'd have to do some research to ensure your organization meets the notability requirements to have an article on Wikipedia. Not every company can have an article. If a subsidiary sub company of your company has an article, chances are it can be merged into a Tervita article. Additionally, conflict of interest has to be considered if you want to create or edit the article yourself. I can have a look later and will get back to you here.--NortyNort (Holla) 18:44, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
That would be great - thanks so much. I should note the CCS Midstream Services Wikipedia listing pops up under the map when one googles "Tervita" (try it out). We're concerned that may cause some confusion, and it would be nice to have a Tervita listing appear there. Thanks.
- I created a stub article which you can see here. I will work on it more in the next few days. I see the company is private and I can't find any financials. As far as the Hazco and CCS Midstream Services articles go, I believe they should be merged into Tervita but am not sure. I don't normally work on company-related articles. I assume both companies don't really exist anymore by that name. Regarding the Google search, we don't control that but now that there is a Tervita article the search return should change at some point... --NortyNort (Holla) 02:23, 10 February 2015 (UTC)
Thanks, that's great! I do believe the Hazco and CCS Midstream Services articles should be merged into Tervita - you're right, both companies don't exist by that name anymore. I'll leave it to you - thanks again for your help.

Fossil fuel divestment and largest fossil fuel companies
Hi all
I wrote the article for Fossil fuel divestment recently which may be of interest. Included in it are a list of the top 100 public coal companies globally and the top 100 public oil and gas companies globally, ranked by the potential carbon emissions content of their reported reserves. Its suprising to me how few of these companies have Wikipedia articles, I'd appreciate help in writing articles to turn the red links blue.

Help with Aubrey McClendon?
Hi there! I'm working to improve the article for Aubrey McClendon, current CEO of American Energy Partners, LP and founding CEO of Chesapeake Energy Corporation. Are there any editors active here who might be interested in helping me work through some suggested changes?
I'm hoping to discuss changes here rather than making any edits myself as I have a conflict of interest: I'm working on behalf of Aubrey McClendon, as a paid consultant. I've written a proposed new draft for the article, which I've put forward on the Talk page. An editor has already reviewed and was largely positive, although they did have concerns about one section. Unfortunately, they've not been back online since I asked if they could give more details so that I can work on updating the draft. Since they've not been around for a few weeks now, I'm hoping editors here could take a look.
My thought is that someone from this project might be interested, as McClendon has been heavily involved with American energy in the past few decades. Looking forward to your feedback! Thanks, 16912 Rhiannon (Talk · COI) 13:57, 21 April 2015 (UTC)
Is "hot dry rock geothermal energy" still considered to be the same as "enhanced geothermal system"?
In 2009 the content of Hot dry rock geothermal energy was merged into Enhanced geothermal system. Currently there is a draft article at Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Hot Dry Rock (HDR) Geothermal Energy which argues that the two are different topics. The references in the draft article are more recent than those in the original "hot dry rock" article, and include the book Donald W. Brown; David V. Duchane; Grant Heiken (23 April 2012). Mining the Earth's Heat: Hot Dry Rock Geothermal Energy. Springer Science & Business Media. p. 588. ISBN 978-3-540-68910-2. {{cite book}}
: Unknown parameter |coauthors=
ignored (|author=
suggested) (help) The book authors distinguish between HDR (hot dry rock geothermal energy) and HWR (hot wet rock). The glossary also states that HWR was renamed EGS (enhanced geothermal system) by the US DOE in 1995.
Another book cited in the draft article, John Harvey Sass; Wendell A. Duffield (2003). Geothermal Energy: Clean Power from the Earth’s Heat. DIANE Publishing. p. 24. ISBN 978-1-4289-1737-8., states that EGS is the middle ground between HDR experiments that weren't viable in 2003 and the then current commercial systems.
Please look at these two articles and see if the original merge is correct, or if they need to have separate articles. If not separate, the new draft needs merging into a reorganized EGS article. What is the use in current practice? Has "enhanced geothermal energy" expanded over the years to cover everything. For example, EGS Energy is the company doing the new hot dry rock project in Cornwall. StarryGrandma (talk) 21:03, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
Our company SEE p/l (Sustainable Enhanced Energy P/L) has acquired a new technology that vastly improves the efficiency of coal fired power generation facilities ( over 100%) whilst reducing harmful particulate matter to zero and reducing the production of CO2 by Approx. 30%. This is a patented process that has been validated by a top 100 university. We are very excited with the potential of this technology as we feel it will be world changing. Benefits of this technology are that the capture of the CO2 is not at the expense of additional power. Being a 'Bolt on" type technology it can be installed into existing "dirty" power generators for a very economical cost thereby increasing the life of these facilities and rather than replace them with costs in the billions the addition of S.E.E technology will only cost $150 to $200 million doubling the output of power therefore reducing the cost of generation by at least 40%. The commercialization of our technology will commence early March 2015. We are based in Brisbane Australia. This is my first contribution, but I have spent the last few months working on this very issue. To clarify a naming point: EGS can also mean "engineered" not just "enhanced" geothermal systems. While HDR and HWR are technically created through different mechanisms of hydraulic fracturing (HDR = temperature differences, EGS = pressure)the term HDR could be considered a subset of the EGS family of geothermal well stimulation methods. The presence of water in a hydrothermal site is relatively unimportant if the substrate is not porous enough to permit adequate water flow. Conversely a hot-dry-rock that is highly favorable for water flow (sufficiently porous) lacks a mechanism for heat energy extraction (water, although supercritical CO2 is being explored as an alternative). However, both of these situations require the well to be engineered and altered to support geothermal activities. It would make sense to refer to the practice of geothermal well engineering as "EGS" and the specific type of EGS technique as HDR or HWR, especially considering the experiments with alternative energy transport media (e.g. supercritical CO2).
As noted in the draft article the DOE did rename HDR as EGS, but it makes sense to include all advanced technologies for improving and creating viable geothermal well technologies under the umbrella term of "Engineered/Enhanced Geothermal Systems." Aside from the well creation overall operations are essentially the same. EGS really is just a term to distinguish naturally occurring hydrothermal wells that can support geothermal activities without any interventions (aside from drilling the well) from wells that had to mechanically altered through stimulation techniques (HDR - thermal shearing, HWR - hydraulic fracturing or 'fracking'). Additionally it makes sense to differentiate older geothermal systems from the newer systems that can operate under a much wider range of well conditions. It would make sense to differentiate alternative sources of geothermal power, such as co-production using heat energy from oil and gas extraction, as a different type of geothermal system, as that is more of an energy recovery or process optimization that "piggy-backs" on another process (although a strong case could be argued to include these options under the EGS umbrella as well). Create an entry for Active Power please
Hello, My name is David Hamilton and our public relations agency represents Active Power, a global leader in flywheel energy and power technology for mission critical applications. Given our relationship with Active Power, it would be a conflict of interest for us to create a Wikipedia article on their behalf, but with over 4,000 uninterruptible power supply (UPS) deployments worldwide, we feel that Active Power is relevant and notable enough to deserve an entry.
I am requesting that an independent editor create the article. Below is the information I provided on the Requested Articles page here on Wikipedia that includes links to several independent third-party sources.
Active Power, designs, manufactures, sells, and services flywheel-based uninterruptible power supply (UPS) products that use kinetic energy to provide short-term power as an alternative to conventional battery-based UPS products. The company also designs and manufactures modular infrastructure solutions that integrate critical power components into a pre-packaged, purpose built enclosure that can include Active Power’s UPS products as a component. Customers include Verizon Terremark, Caterpillar, HP, Heineken, and Capgemini. World Energy Consumption Section Primary Energy/ World energy consumption and electricity supply
Hi,
I'm a student at the University of Virginia. I was recently using this section of the Wikipedia page in order to help make an estimate on the annual potential of solar energy and how this relates to the annual world consumption of energy. While using this section of the page I ran into complications that made finding the info I needed difficult. The grammar in many of the sentences is wrong as you read. For instance, see the sentence: According to IEA total world energy supply (consumption) was 102,569 TWh (1990); 117,687 TWh (2000); 133,602 TWh (2005) and 143,851 TWh (2008). The stuff in the parentheses should be taken out to make it grammatically correct. Also, part of this section at the end should really be in the trends section. This is the part that states: "However, despite climate agreements, renewable energy targets and energy efficiency improvements, the increases in renewable energy are much smaller than the growth of fossil fuel consumption, as the following figures show." This is a trend that should be stated in the trends section, rather then in the world energy consumption section which should mainly point to the amount being used.

Updates to the SolarReserve Wikipedia Page
I would respectfully like to update SolarReserve wikipedia page. I fully respect and appreciate all previous work done with this entry. My name is Mary Grikas and I head Communications for SolarReserve. As a communicator, and because many people visit Wikipedia as a trusted source to learn about SolarReserve, I want to help ensure that the information about our company, technology and projects is complete and correct. I would like to open up a conversation regarding the SolarReserve page and would like to help with these contributions to better the article. Please consider the following information to replace the current SolarReserve Wikipedia found on the sandbox here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Marygrikas/sandbox. Energy or Power Companies?
For example: Category:Power companies by country contains
- Electric power companies
- Energy companies by country
- Electric power by country
and Category:Electric power companies contains itself the Category:Power companies by country. What is the difference between Power and Energy? I don't think, that this makes any sense in the categories. --House1630 (talk) 11:17, 24 June 2015 (UTC)
Help needed with a draft at AFC
Is Draft:IEA-ECBCS Annex 66: Definition and Simulation of Occupant Behavior in Buildings a notable topic and is the draft about it acceptable? Please comment on the draft's talk page if you do not wish to do a full AFC review. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 08:33, 27 July 2015 (UTC)
Help with updates for BP
I recently made some suggestions to the BP page based on the company's latest annual report and a few other new documents. A few of the requests have been done, but there are a few others I'm hoping editors here can review. They are listed on the Talk page. The message there provides more detail about the edits I am requesting, but here's a brief overview of the changes:
- Updating production numbers, such as proved reserves, barrels per day of oil equivalent produced, and cubic feet per day of natural gas produced
- Updating the number of service stations and wells the company has
To reiterate disclosures I've made in previous messages here, I am BP's representative on Wikipedia, so I avoid making any direct edits myself. Would someone be able to make these changes? Thanks. Arturo at BP (talk) 17:18, 21 May 2015 (UTC)
- This request is still open. I'm hoping others might see this note and be able to help. Thanks. Arturo at BP (talk) 20:50, 19 August 2015 (UTC)

I just read the article on TGP. I have little tolerance for unsafe operations and unnecessary pollution. Nevertheless, I thought the article as a whole reeked of bias; "expansions" and the only one discussed is 2014 forward??? A laundry list of recent safety and environmental incidents with nothing resembling that level of detail on any other facets related to the company???? Hell, with nothing else even covered to speak of. literally a couple of sentences to the effect of "Oh, yeah, natural gas can be good and some people like it" then more detail on each and every incident, even minor ones, than could remotely be justified given that there is no standard of comparison given and nothing in the level of this detail about any other facet. The entire structure of the article and the total lack of general information in contrast to the detailed laundry list of recent incidents is inappropriate. I'm not saying don't discuss those, I think they should be discussed. But, it needs to be in a reasonable context and to a reasonable degree. TimeOnTarget (talk) 07:18, 27 September 2015 (UTC)

Help with Dense Plasma Focus
The Operation section looks like it was copied from a book called, Cold Nuclear Fusion. See the talk page.
The text seems to have been in there since the page was created. It references a figure that was deleted a long time ago. The page needs an operation section, but I don't know anything about the subject.
I can't figure out how to use the plagiarism reporting page. Becalmed (talk) 07:28, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
