Adding more non-free images?

edit

Good work on making the article the Good Article, IDV. Would adding more non-free files help readers understand the whole video game more? I have planned list of images that I want to add:

  1. An image from the ending credits of Mia's spirit, Larry, Maya, Phoenix, Edgeworth, and Gumshoe (Japanese version, actually; either GBA or Wii)
  2. A stand-alone image of Larry Butz (either Japanese or English?)
  3. As discussed earlier, a Japanese GBA box cover
  4. An image of Miss Dee Vasquez, the studio producer
  5. A screenshot from iOS (HD) rerelease

If four or five is too much, which ones shall I add? George Ho (talk) 06:20, 22 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Any more is too much. --MASEM (t) 06:31, 22 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
I agree - we try to limit our use of non-free images, and avoid images that are purely or mostly just decorative. A non-free image has to significantly help the understanding of the article for us to include it, and we already have cover art for identification and a screenshot for demonstration of the gameplay and artstyle.--IDVtalk 06:54, 22 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
I guess a sole image of Larry is not necessary. What about the ensemble characters image (#1), IDV? And is the GBA vs DS cover debate not an exception to WP:VGIMAGES, unlike the Star Ocean (video game) box cover discussion? --George Ho (talk) 07:09, 22 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
We already have most of the core cast depicted in the currently used non-free images already, actually - Phoenix, Maya, Edgeworth and the judge are on the cover, and Gumshoe is being cross-examined in the screenshot - so I don't think an ensemble shot is necessary. Remember, the goal is to keep the use of non-free images to a minimum. If one can get away with using two images instead of three, one should use only two.--IDVtalk 07:23, 22 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
Hmm... Yes, the judge is one of frequently appearing characters. However, he is also the secondary character; also, the article briefly mentions him without enough depth. I was thinking about the Japanese DS cover, but Mia (like the judge) is currently not detailed in depth, even when she is one of main, significant characters of the game. Still, I think a main character is more significant than a secondary character. I read in-depth descriptions about Larry Butz and Dee Vasquez, and I figured that an image of either one may help readers understand part of the video game. However, I guess an ensemble image would be enough in any form to show Larry Butz, like the cover image that you said (though neither displays Larry Butz). ... Wait, I think I have an idea. You can replace an image of Gumshoe cross-examined with Larry cross-examined. How's that? ...But that screenshot is in PNG, and I rather create a "bad" JPEG than a poorly made PNG one. Regarding Gumshoe image, his appearance, including his signature ragged coat, is not detailed by sources that you give. Instead, the article discusses his (back)story, while Larry's appearance was detailed. I figured that an image of Larry meets WP:NFCC better than of Gumshoe. Re-read text about Larry in the article. I realize that, I guess, Gumshoe is more suitable than Larry. I just read the original concept but ignored the later developments of Larry. George Ho (talk) 10:29, 22 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

I snipped screenshots of Gumshoe and of Dee Vasquez cross-examined in the original GBA Japanese version. Although I like the DS screenshot, I think using a GBA screenshot would help readers understand the original release more than understand the rerelease(s). By the way, I was able to use Microsoft Snipping Tool to create PNG files rather than JPEG. What do you think, IDV? George Ho (talk) 10:49, 22 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

I think it makes more sense to have an early-game screenshot of a recurring character than a mid-game screenshot of non-recurring character. I don't understand why you think a GBA screenshot would be more appropriate than a DS one, though. They look almost identical, except for how the DS has a bottom screen and is available in English.--IDVtalk 11:27, 22 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
You're right, IDV; I struck out #3 I mean, #4. As for a game screenshot, the game was rereleased several times after the original GBA release. With an exception of DS bottom (touch) screen, other releases have the same one-screen gameplay as the original with slight modifications. Also, the "Screenshots" subsection of WP:VGIMAGES doesn't mention which version it should be. Also, the bottom screen was not mentioned in the article outside image captions. In fact, the article often mentions Japanese language and the localization of it. What if I can upload the GBA image of Gumshoe cross-examination as an extra? And then replace the DS version of Gumshoe screen with this one from Case 5 (DS-exclusive)? Or one of other screenshots from case 5? A luminol, aluminum flake powder, or examination screen is more substantial than the current DS screenshot? George Ho (talk) 11:58, 22 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
Oops... I realize that bottom screen is also the touchscreen. George Ho (talk) 12:04, 22 May 2016 (UTC) Another oops. George Ho (talk) 21:05, 22 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Use the name "Akemi Kimura" instead of "Naoto Tanaka"

edit

According to http://ja.gyakutensaiban.wikia.com/wiki/%E7%94%B0%E4%B8%AD%E7%9B%B4%E4%BA%BA, the composer for the music new to the DS version Naoto Tanaka (田中直人) uses the alias "Akemi Kimura" (木村明美). This alias is what appears in the credits of Episode 5 of PWAA1; the name "Naoto Tanaka" is nowhere to be seen. Additionally, the Japanese version of this article (which is actually an article encompassing the whole series) cites Akemi Kimura for this, PWAA2, and PWAA4; the name "Naoto Tanaka" is also nowhere to be seen in that article (a page search for "田中" (Tanaka) produces no results). 「新規BGMは木村明美が担当。」 Translation: "Akemi Kimura is responsible for the new BGM [in the re-release of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney]". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2605:6000:8B95:B800:9C3A:4898:E82F:D5D (talk) 07:43, 9 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
