Recommended Edit (you reverted my incorrect edit) 😁
Hi! You have reverted the (incorrect) change I made to the Wikipedia page about the list of the highest grossing malayalam films and I stand by your decision. It is just that the edit I was trying to make was removing Romancham from the Top Ten list as it was sharing tenth with Premam, although Premam was higher than Romancham and belonged to have tenth place to itself. As I made a mistake it editing this and is anxious about making another mistake, I request and recommend that you remove Romancham yourself. Thanks, that is all. 2001:8003:5D15:C800:5857:7CCA:96D0:E21A (talk) 10:28, 25 November 2023 (UTC)
- Hi. As it turns out, both Premam and Romacham have grossed 70 crores each, as evident from the citations provided. Hence they share the 10th spot. If you feel there is any discrepancy, you may discuss further in the talk page of the article, supported by reliable sources. Thanks. The Herald (Benison) (talk) 10:34, 25 November 2023 (UTC)
- In that case, I guess you are correct (although it reads Premam has grossed more when in US dollars). Sorry for the hassle, have a good day! 2001:8003:5D15:C800:5857:7CCA:96D0:E21A (talk) 10:41, 25 November 2023 (UTC)

Edit to Eurasian Development Bank
"Hello, I'm The Herald. An edit that you recently made to Eurasian Development Bank seemed to be a test and has been reverted. If you want to practice editing, please use the sandbox. If you think a mistake was made, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks! The Herald (Benison) (talk) 15:23, 7 December 2023 (UTC)"
Thank you for your answer!
My edit wasn’t a test. I actually added a link to the bank’s telegram channel – https://t.me/eabr_bank
The channel is official, as there is a link to it on the bank’s website https://eabr.org/en
There are 3 circles at the very bottom of the page (Telegram, YouTube and Facebook)
In addition, you can find a link to this channel on the bank’s wiki pages in two other languages:
- - In Belarusian – https://be.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eўraziyskiy_bank_razvіtstsya
- - In Russian – ru:Eurasian development bank
Please return the correction if it is possible. I would be very grateful to you 185.41.41.226 (talk) 16:08, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hey, thanks for the message. The external link guidelines are to be followed and connecting the Telegram channel to the article does not come under the criteria of meaningful external link. Hence it was reverted. Thanks and happy editing. The Herald (Benison) (talk) 18:58, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
Administrators' newsletter – December 2023
News and updates for administrators from the past month (November 2023).
- Following a talk page discussion, the Administrators' accountability policy has been updated to note that while it is considered best practice for administrators to have notifications (pings) enabled, this is not mandatory. Administrators who do not use notifications are now strongly encouraged to indicate this on their user page.
- Following a motion, the Extended Confirmed Restriction has been amended, removing the allowance for non-extended-confirmed editors to post constructive comments on the "Talk:" namespace. Now, non-extended-confirmed editors may use the "Talk:" namespace solely to make edit requests related to articles within the topic area, provided that their actions are not disruptive.
- The Arbitration Committee has announced a call for Checkusers and Oversighters, stating that it will currently be accepting applications for CheckUser and/or Oversight permissions at any point in the year.
- Eligible users are invited to vote on candidates for the Arbitration Committee until 23:59 December 11, 2023 (UTC). Candidate statements can be seen here.

- Hey, welcome to Wikipedia. Thanks for providing the date, but since Wikipedia is not a primary source, you need to provide a reference from a website or a newspaper to verify the date. The current information is from BBC, which is kinda unclear. So if you can find a web citation for the date from a reliable source, I can add it. Thanks and happy editing. Help me understand why my references are bad.
The Herald. Please. Help me understand this. You tell me I am using bad references, but I just used your own references from Garrison's "Antisemitism" segment and moved them up to the top of the old bastards page.
Help me understand this. Why are they good references when squirreled away in the bottom of the page, but not at the top? I am confused as to your rigorous, deeply academic standards which I am going to run over to my public Library and add the second it opens, wait another year, come back, and add them again.
I don't see why you all are so salty about acknowledging Hitler "The Beta Version"'s well known Antisemitism on the top of his page.
Why are (Literally your own references) bad if they are made too public? :S
Maybe just remove the whole "Antisemitism" section? If the references are so lousy? Or is it just that you don't like people calling an antisemitic Paleo-Nazi an antisemtitc paleo-nazi who was well aware of the pogroms in Russia, it's just that Jooz killed Muh Lord JEEZUS therefore Pogroms good. 71.17.144.182 (talk) 04:39, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
- being a disgusting hate-demon who wished suffering upon others because this one time a Jewish person was mean to him :( as he was doesn't sound very encyclopedic or even from a citation or from a public library. So, kindly refrain from using unconstructive edits and languages, as they constitute as vandalism. Thanks. The Herald (Benison) (talk) 04:43, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
- Okay. But can I we at least edit back in to the top of his page that he was an antisemite and use (your own sources in the "Antisemitism" section?
- It's weird that you all ignore that.
- Almost like you don't want people to know that "Le Libierator" was well aware of the pogroms in Russia and thought they were in fact a very good thing because MUH LORD JEEEZUS ALLEJULAH THE JOOZ IS FINALLY GETTING WOTS COMING TO EM ALLELUJAH AMEN LORD JEEEZUS. 71.17.144.182 (talk) 04:51, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
- I waited you guys out last time and came back. I can do it again. Garrison's Antisemitism deserves public acknowledgement whether or not you like it. 71.17.144.182 (talk) 04:59, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
- As mentioned by Tol, the content regarding his antisemitism is already covered in the article. Thanks.

Introduction to contentious topics
You have recently edited a page related to articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Hello The Herald (Benison), regarding your ill-considered revert, now counter-reverted. Take a look at all 3 edits. First I shifted the timeline sequence between two paragraphs because 6 m years occurs before 5 m years in the geological sequence – why you reverted that remains unclear. Then I provided a citation that was requested. Then I created the sub-article and placed a link to it, so a citation was no longer needed, just like all of the other extinct species in that particular list – why you reverted a link to another article remains unclear. The edit summaries tell you what is happening, and the obtuse WP template you dropped on my Talk Page was not helpful. Any issues then you should feel free to take it for adjudication; we shall then see what other parties think about your reverts. 14.2.205.177 (talk) 06:35, 23 January 2024 (UTC)

Request reason:
Okay, so two things. First, I am aware of 3RR and that is the reason why I stopped reverting after two yesterday, as I have stated in the talk page. Then I have given my explanation why I am restoring the content to lgv. Second, the revert today was based on WP:3RRNO rationale 3 (since they are already rangeblocked) and 4 (content removal/blanking), as unexplained content removal is clearly vandalism/blanking, for which the IP is warned. The IP (with their constant disruptive behavior in AfC drafts and the article, blanking of user pages and removal of warning templates, even after myself assuming good faith and giving the benefit of the doubt, continued. That disruptive behavior and unexplained content removal is the reason for my 3RR violation per WP:3RRNO. If you feel it is not like that and I was involved in the editwar without rationale, I accept the block and I'll be back after a good night sleep. No hard feelings :") The Herald (Benison) (talk) 10:58, 4 February 2024 (UTC)

Per below. Just take the day off. Breath some fresh air and touch the grass. Unless you live someplace cold like I do. :) – UtherSRG (talk) 13:51, 4 February 2024 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
- I'm responding to further explain the block and why WP:3RRNO does not apply here. First, it takes at least two people to have an edit war. You made four reverts in 15 hours which is a problem when WP:3RR limits everyone to three reverts in 24 hours. Second, 3RRNO is limited and not a free ticket to winning a content dispute:
- The other user is obviously able to edit (or they were prior to being blocked 24 hours for edit warring) and the block for 92.40.0.0/16 is labeled as being a block for non-editing actions. It's also an exceptionally broad range block and not directed at any specific person.
- The removal was explained and is not page blanking. While it could have been explained better in edit summaries, you both should have ended up on the talk page much earlier. I'm not familiar with the topic, but the text in dispute seems to be placed rather prominently and is concerning from an NPOV standpoint. Overall, it's not vandalism much less
obvious vandalism—edits that any well-intentioned user would agree constitute vandalism, such as page blanking and adding offensive language
. - 3RRNO also specifies that
If you are claiming an exemption, make sure there is a clearly visible edit summary or separate section of the talk page that explains the exemption. When in doubt, do not revert.
- Another administrator will review your appeal. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 12:11, 4 February 2024 (UTC)
- Alrighty. I'll take the day off, then. @UtherSRG Yea, it's cold here too, so might stay in with some coffee, haha. Will be back later with extra alertness for reverts. Thanks and happy editing. The Herald (Benison) (talk) 14:11, 4 February 2024 (UTC)

Sorry about that. I figured I was pretty reckless with the whole Al Gore 1988 presidential campaign article. I think we both learned a valuable lesson about edit warring and reverts. Happy editing! 92.40.212.153 (talk) 11:04, 5 February 2024 (UTC)

Article – K._K._Kochukoshy
Thanks for your suggestions on the article.
I was not aware of unreliability of Times of India, but it was only used to reference the position he held in National Library – since there are other redundant sources to validate that, i can remove the ones from ToI. Thank you for bringing into notice, i have added sources from Indian Express which would be more reputable.
Regarding notability, would like your advice on it – there are quite a few sources which do not have a online reference, most are as physical regional newspapers (which are not listed in the reliable sources). they have a significant readership here, but would it count as significant or noteworthy? For eg, there was a full page article on him in mathrubhumi (kerala/malayalam daily) – but i cannot find an online reference for it. Similarly there are articles which are on him in Telegraph (calcutta english daily, but they do not have all the old e-papers), Bartaman (calcutta bengali daily). Would additions of them be helpful in any manner? I do have the hardcopies with me to back it.
also, if you have any other suggestions, please do let me know, would be happy to make it more aligned. Also, this is helping me learn more of wikipedia's principles, so thats good!
Thanks Koshyviv (talk) 13:17, 5 February 2024 (UTC)
- @Koshyviv: Hi. I'd advice you to go through User:The Herald/AfC Essentialities to understand the policies and guidelines regarding an article creation. Hard copy references are also okay as long as they are reliable. You can use this page to learn how to cite them. Mathrubhumi and Manorama etc come under perennial sources and therefore can be considered as reliable unless stated otherwise in that page. Thanks. The Herald (Benison) (talk) 15:11, 5 February 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks, this helps!
- May i reach out to you to get your feedback once i make the changes? Or do you suggest i resubmit and wait for some other reviewer to provide their feedback? Koshyviv (talk) 06:12, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
- I'll suggest you to get familiar with all the guidelines and re edit the article. Submit only after that, lest it will get rejected again and you'll be in a vicious cycle. Once you submit, either me or some other reviewer will review the article. Also remember, the backlog of AfC is about 6 weeks. So you have to be patient and the article might not be reviewed right aways. Thanks and good luck. The Herald (Benison) (talk) 06:24, 6 February 2024 (UTC)

AfC review and WP:NBOOK
Hi, I've re-submitted and accepted the draft that is now at Vietnam (book). I'm not sure why you declined this, because it had five reviews footnoted – this was a very easy accept. In general, AfD voters declare that a book is notable if it has 2+ substantial reviews. -- asilvering (talk) 03:32, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
- IMO, SIGCOV was not met. Hence declined. Will refer to NBOOK next time then. Thanks. The Herald (Benison) (talk) 07:22, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
- Er, how would you define sigcov? The Guardian review is seven paragraphs long, and another is 2+ pages. The only short one I see is the Foreign Affairs review. -- asilvering (talk) 02:50, 9 February 2024 (UTC)
- As I said, I didn't register NBOOK before. Hence I expected SIGCOV not being met with just 2 reviews. Will go through it again. Thanks for the note. The Herald (Benison) (talk) 04:52, 9 February 2024 (UTC)
- I'm sorry to keep banging on about this, but I'm concerned by these responses, because they don't appear to understand what WP:SIGCOV is. I find this especially concerning because you've been closing AfDs using the phrase where it doesn't appear to apply. (For example Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kazuo Mogi, no mention of sigcov/gng by any of the !voters, and no implication that the subject meets WP:GNG either.) This is the definition of sigcov:
"Significant coverage" addresses the topic directly and in detail, so that no original research is needed to extract the content. Significant coverage is more than a trivial mention, but it does not need to be the main topic of the source material.
- Some editors might disagree on whether the Foreign Affairs review was significant coverage, but even if we take that position, we have four other sources with sigcov on that draft. I'm not sure if you're using "sigcov" as synonymous with "notability" or what here, but even if you were, that's a very clear WP:GNG pass. -- asilvering (talk) 05:18, 9 February 2024 (UTC)
- Hi. I wasn't using it as synonyms. As with my understandings with them, the AfD was closed as GNG because of NMOTORSPORT what was met, which is an extension of GNG itself. SIGCOV was met when the articles mentioned the person at length, especially the ones provided by SpaceFarmer. Hence, I made a closing statement as such. If you feel it was an inappropriate closure, please by all means recall it. Maybe my understandings were lost in translation probably, but I doubt so. With the draft, as I said, I might have overlooked NBOOK. Which is why I haven't done any AfC reviews in the past two days, because I'm currently going through all the guidelines again just to see if I missed any details such as more than two reviews makes it notable, etc. It's okay to keep banging like this. I'm always happy when someone points out something to me. There's always room for improvement and it's all gor good. Thanks and happy editing :) The Herald (Benison) (talk) 05:32, 9 February 2024 (UTC)
- But SpaceFarmer didn't provide any articles at all, let alone ones that mention the person at length. Those are just tables – effectively, database entries. not sigcov. (Also, WP:NMOTORSPORT is not an extension of GNG. It's a WP:SNG, a sub-section of WP:NSPORTS, which very clearly states
The article should provide reliable sources showing that the subject meets the general notability guideline.
) - Again, the issue I originally brought up here is not that you incorrectly understood WP:NBOOK. The subject-specific guideline isn't really relevant here. My concern is that you appear to be using "sigcov" to mean wildly different things, and don't appear to understand what WP:GNG actually is. -- asilvering (talk) 06:18, 9 February 2024 (UTC)

Fine, I'll give it a thorough reading again. But my understandings were pretty clear and the rationale was given clearly in the closing statements. Once again, if you are admant on challenging the closure, you may proceed ahead. As I have stated above, I agree with your rationale and I get that you are trying to make me understand the policies, which I said I understood now. More badgering me into understanding the policies is not helping anyone. So, once again, thanks for pointing it out, and if you want to challenge the NAC, please do. Thanks. Request on 13:55:01, 13 February 2024 for assistance on AfC submission by Vividporpoise
Hi, thanks for reviewing my article draft! Adler was a very prominent rabbi during his time, so there are definitely more sources I can find to support arguing for his notability.
Alternatively, do you think it would make more sense to title the page "Murder of Morris Adler" given that, in secular midcentury American history, he is unfortunately more notable for the manner in which he died?
Would love some tips for improving the article so that it can be published.
Best,

Hello The Herald, I noticed you recently declined the above mentioned draft reasoning that it is not adequately sourced. I would like to know, what is it that it lack 'cause honestly with the cited sources I can easily some up SIGCOV which I believe it is what's required to keep an article afloat whether it's a stub or start class article, and the individual has been making the news since amapiano surfaced as he is one the pioneering artists of what can be called the fastest growing genre lately. So again, what it is the article lacks so that I can improve it? Thank you. dxneo (talk) 20:05, 14 February 2024 (UTC)
- Kindly go through WP:NMG to realise the exact notability guidelines. If you can provide SIGCOV from multiple independent sources, excluding interviews (which are primary sources), it can be considered. Also, there are tags to be removed in the article, especially in the personal section. Thanks. The Herald (Benison) (talk) 00:35, 15 February 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for reviewing my draft page on Henry Duffy.
First, I am unclear on why you believe the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, C-Span, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, etc, are not considered “reliable sources”. I do not understand the comment that seems to indicate my references and citations are not verifiable. Every citation and reference is easily retrieved online. I have reviewed the guidance and my references appear to satisfy the requirements.
Secondly, the articles, interviews (again, by reputable references noted above), the book, Flying the Line, Vol II, the C-Span videos, and the Presidential appointments are not “just passing mentions” - they are specifically about Mr Duffy. Particularly in the book referenced, at least three entire chapters of the book are specifically about Mr Duffy, his tenure as ALPA president, and his accomplishments. Please advise on what I am not understanding regarding my references and citations regarding his notability. Thank you. Jnorman34 (talk) 20:17, 14 February 2024 (UTC)
- Hi. Since it's a biography, every statement needs a reference, and an inline citation. Given that some references do mention him, but multiple independent references are needed to establish notability. The lede requires cites and the tenure and personal section needs further citations. Need citations to establish his age and other personal details. Furthermore, the article needs a NPOV rewrite to sound more encyclopedic. Thanks. The Herald (Benison) (talk) 00:45, 15 February 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for your prompt response. I will attempt to address each issue and resubmit shortly. Jnorman34 (talk) 06:56, 15 February 2024 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Allegheny Land Trust
Could I please ask you to revisit your "keep" NAC on this AfD? Only a single !voter wanted to keep, and their comment did not address the substance of the comments from the nominator or other voters. I would ask that you either change the close to merge (you don't have to actually perform the merge yourself, adding {{Afd-merge to}} to the article suffices) or revert your close and let an admin perform the close. I realize this is largely procedural, but I don't wish to relitigate the decision to merge and have someone argue "but the AFD closed as keep" when that was clearly not the consensus. Thanks for your consideration! Jfire (talk) 02:01, 15 February 2024 (UTC)
- Done Hey. Thanks for that. I had contacted an admin to follow up if anything else was needed. Thankd again. The Herald (Benison) (talk) 02:38, 15 February 2024 (UTC)

Hello, you stated that there are not enough references in this article. I would like to point out that in the article, the website of the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan and foreign websites are mentioned. Why do you not see these sites as reliable sources?
- Read User:The Herald/AfC Essentialities, as given in the edit notice above before posting. Also, the references you have provided are primary sources and you need reliable and independent sources for verifiability. Also, the sources must be able to establish WP:SIGCOV, not passing mentions. Thanks. The Herald (Benison) (talk) 10:16, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for the information, but just Google the person's name or another search engine and you will find the information you need. Redivy (talk) 10:21, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
