- I wouldn't worry about typing skills too much, because yours seem fine to me (and should there be any mishaps, they can easily be fixed).
- Also, probably you already know but there are 284 other language Wikipedias that you can edit, so if you can speak in any of those languages you might like to edit there too. benzband (talk) 18:46, 7 July 2012 (UTC)

Job
editI see that you're active with WikiProject Disambiguation. I wonder if you'd mind taking a look at Job? It seems to me that there's a natural primary article for this at Job (role), but currently the dab page Job is primary, complicated by a redirect from Job (disambiguation). I noticed this because it is the only Vital 100 article with a parenthetic title. If you can make some sense of this, it would be a big help. Thanks, LeadSongDog come howl! 17:53, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
- Sure! I'm not an expert on Wikipedia policy but yeah IMHO Job (role) is the primary topic.

User talk:Fenros and help me-helped
editHi Benzband. Can I ask you why you replaced my nulling of the helpme request, my preferred method for closing helpme requests, with {{Help me-helped}}? (a template I've actually considered nominating for deletion as a useless and intrusive albatross on the helpme process, bloating people's talk pages).--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 10:04, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
- Sure! It's because
{{help me-helped}}
provides a little note in case the OP has any further questions. benzband (talk) 12:10, 13 July 2012 (UTC)- Thanks for responding. I understood you did it because you prefer it as a closure method (whereas I think the note in it is useless as utterly tacit and the template is pure bloat), but that's not the issue at all. The issue is that you overrode my close with your close. Or to put it another way, do you think it would be proper if you closed a helpme request with help-me-helped and I undid that because I like nulling better, and replaced it with {{tnull|helpme}} or {{tl|helpme}}, etc. – do you see what I'm getting at?--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 12:29, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
- Yep. I've undone the edit, and will refrain from overriding in the future. Seriously, i don't care how it's done anyway (the only reason for using that method is because that's what others have done to me). When i placed the tag i had Fenros in mind, not any personal esthetic satisfaction. benzband (talk) 12:52, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks much. I didn't think you had any evil aesthetics plot in mind! I just wanted to clear up the issue. By the way, I've been answering helpme requests since 2005/6 (years before this template was created) and I've never seen a single user who didn't understand that they could repost a helpme request if they had another question.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 13:05, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
- Makes sense. Also reminds me of this page which includes it a total of… *20* times (yeah, utterly pointless). ^^ benzband (talk) 13:12, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
- Wow! I don't like to do things that I know have little to no chance of succeeding, like nominating the template for deletion, but I do think it should have
{{documentation}}
which says that once it's been used once on a single user's talk page, further helpme requests by the same user should be nulled. That page you linked is just silly. I might take a stab at adding documentation tonight.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 13:42, 13 July 2012 (UTC)

P.S.N.A.College of Engineering and Technology
editThe timing is the issue. R3 exists to get rid of unlikely redirects that don't have a substantive chance ever of having been used. Since it's been around for a year and a half, there's a good chance that it's been used. Unlikely-and-old is a decent reason for going to RFD, but not a good reason for speedy deletion. How to enable AFT5 on an article
editTurns out adding an article to Category:Article Feedback 5 Additional Articles makes AFT5 show up on it. You asked about this here, so I thought I'd let you know. editHi. When you recently edited Positive hardcore, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Northern Star (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Article Feedback newsletter
editHey all!
So, big news this week - on Tuesday, we ramped up to 5 percent of articles :). There's been a lot more feedback (pardon the pun) as I'm sure you've noticed, and to try and help we've scheduled a large number of office hours sessions, including one this evening at 22:00 UTC in the #wikimedia-office connect channel, and another at 01:00 UTC for the aussies amongst us :). I hope to see some of you there - if any of you can't make it but have any questions, I'm always happy to help.
Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 20:44, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

A General Quesiton
editI am asking you a question about Wikipedia, I wanted to ask you as you seem like the best person to ask (don't get cocky now).
I was wondering why the English Wikipedia doesn't allow you to create an article just after you've searched for it (like on the German version). I was on vacation in Germany last week and I was editing Wikipedia there (as I always do) and I noticed I could create an article (I didn't though as I couldn't write in German).
Here's me being nosy and curious.
Oh and please don't feel offended about my comment of being cocky, it was merely my style of humor. 92.39.201.183 (talk) 21:09, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
- Hi, on English Wikipedia, IP's have to use the articles for creation process. There was a major scandal where an IP created libelous information about a living person. I'm searching for the link but haven't found it. Ryan Vesey Review me! 21:14, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, the English Wikipedia does allow you to create an article, but only when you're logged in and autoconfirmed. Anonymous/logged out users like yourself get offered the opportunity to request an article (have a look yourself here, for instance). For more information on starting an article, see Wikipedia:Starting an article. Cheers, :) benzband (talk) 21:18, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
- Oh, hi. Thanks. I do see a major problem if any IP can create an article, I suppose I was just being selfish and wanted to make a page. I don't like having an account, I find it too much of a tie down effort, I think I should consider getting one though. I will request an article, thanks. 92.39.201.183 (talk) 21:23, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
- Do you know the "submit an article" template that you're supposed to put at the top of a page, I will write an article in the sandbox and submit it and see if it gets accepted. PS:will that actually work? Thanks, and thanks to Ryan Vesey for the help. 92.39.201.183 (talk) 21:27, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
- That won't work because the Wikipedia:Sandbox gets regularly overwritten by a bot, and by the editors who use it to make tests. From looking at your contributions i take it you want to create an article on Congorock? In which case i can help you go set up an AfC draft. benzband (talk) 21:33, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, that would be great. But as I mentioned in my previous comment I always venture out to create an article, (ect) and end up at that page and suddenly I feel daunted and confused. Is there a page on Wikipedia that offers a step-by-step guide on how to make a draft? Thanks as always. :) 92.39.201.183 (talk) 21:38, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
- Try chapter 4 of the missing manual (It's available in print form as well, but not as up to date). Ryan Vesey Review me! 21:41, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
- On another note, creating an account will allow you to have your own sandbox to work on it in. Here's some reasons to create one. Ryan Vesey Review me! 21:43, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

- Hi again! Congorock is one of 1,026 pending submissions, so it may take a while.
- I had left those warning is because there was an ongoing inquest into the author's conduct, so best leave them publicly displayed. Anyway, he's been blocked now so i'm removing them :) benzband (talk) 13:20, 22 July 2012 (UTC)
You've marked the "woman made of fire" bit on the draft as needing citation, I know there is a seven sided star on the album as it is the seal of Babalon who is known as the scarlet woman, (i got it wrong, she's not made of fire). Congorock is using a play on words when putting this symbol as the cover. If you want then check out the Babalon article on Wikipedia to see if it is reliable enough, I wouldn't know the difference. Thanks. 87.254.87.148 (talk) 13:50, 22 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi, I've included you in my Autobiography of my Wikipedia lifetime, I wondered if you'd like to have a read (it's nothing bad). Find it at:User:Oddmartian2/Things of the World. Thanks. 87.254.87.148 (talk) 19:28, 22 July 2012 (UTC)
- Cool story. I have added some more {{discogs}} references to your AfC submission. Don't worry about it being declined, that just means that it isn't quite ready yet, and the reviewer has left some tips on improving it (such as finding other sources than amazon). benzband (talk) 19:37, 22 July 2012 (UTC)
- Is discogs one of Wikipedia's sister sites that includes tracklistings? 87.254.87.148 (talk) 19:47, 22 July 2012 (UTC)
- Nope, but it's one of the largest online databases of music releases (see: discogs and www
.discogs .com). benzband (talk) 19:53, 22 July 2012 (UTC)

Newsletter
editI just wanted to tell you I'm working on it now. I wanted to expand on that by saying I'll be formally stepping down from my position as coordinator. I'll help out with the project as much as I can, but I don't do nearly enough to be called a coordinator. I've been meaning to step down for some time now; however, I've been wary of doing so due to the lack of people in the position. I'm not sure if you are interested in taking the position, but do you have any other ideas of people we might ask? Right now, you are the driving force of the project. Kerowyn still edits occassionally; however, excluding him the project would have zero official coordinators. Ryan Vesey Review me! 14:20, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
- I'm happy to do whatever is needed to keep the project going in the meantime. Maybe User:Wilhelmina Will, who has been very active in the drives and awards distribution… though i don't know if she would be interested. I can't think of anyone else offhand.
- Please leave a note when you're done with the newsletter, so i can make the lists and send it out via MDB at the same time as invitations to the next drive. benzband (talk) 14:36, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
- A note on the Signpost might see some. extra999 (talk) 16:06, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
- Yep, i was intending to submit it in the WikiProject Report sidebar :D benzband (talk) 17:23, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
- I feel like it's ready. See Wikipedia:WikiProject Wikify/News/July 2012/Editorials. If there is something that I blatantly missed let me know. Ryan Vesey Review me! 04:40, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
- Great! (ps. shall i leave you on the front cover as "coordinator"?) benzband (talk) 09:48, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
- Probably not, maybe you should leave a short note that I stepped down and ask if there are people interested in taking the position(s). Ryan Vesey Review me! 12:03, 25 July 2012 (UTC)

AFT5 newsletter
editHey again all :). So, some big news, some small news, some good news, some bad news!
On the "big news" front; we've now deployed AFT5 on to 10 percent of articles, This is pretty awesome :). On the "bad news", however, it looks like we're having to stop at 10 percent until around September - there are scaling issues that make it dangerous to deploy wider. Happily, our awesome features engineering team is looking into them as we speak, and I'm optimistic that the issues will be resolved.
For both "small" and "good" news; we've got another office hours session. This one is tomorrow, at 22:00 UTC in #wikimedia-office connect - I appreciate it's a bit late for Europeans, but I wanted to juggle it so US east coasters could attend if they wanted :). Hope to see you all there!

Final warning
editFile:Stop cow2.png This is your last warning. The next time you violate Wikipedia's neutral cattle view policy by asserting pro-cow rhetoric into your edits, you may be bollocks from editing without further notice.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 00:04, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
- Tut tut, cowboy! Never mind the bollocks of it all, cattle are sacred and as such can do whatever they please. benzband (talk) 09:01, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
- That was fun! It's rare anyone actually notices an edit summary.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 11:33, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
- Edit summaries can cause severe damage to the encyclopedia (see butterfly effect). benzband (talk) 11:52, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Dear King of Coding,
editI, Achowat, your loyal subject, wish to ask of you nothing but a demonstration of Your Highness' skills and prowess, if you would deign to assist me in a project, so easily beneath Your Highness' splendor and glory...Ok, I'm gonna cut that crap out because it's hard to talk . Portal:New England is my new Project and I've got an issue I need your help with. I'd like Portal: New England/Projects to have all of the Seals and Links on one line, instead of two (because of the New Formatting I'm looking at) but the code is just all kinds of confusing me. I can't even wrap my mind around it. Anything you can do to help me out? Achowat (talk) 17:58, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

- If you wanted to check my work against the WP:Featured portal criteria, that'd be appreciated as well. Then I can bring it to portal peer review before listing it as a Featured portal candidate (iff all comes out well). Achowat (talk) 19:20, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

A quick review:
- Useful.
- Attractive.
- Ergonomic.
- ? (you can probably say better than me :) Well-maintained.
- ? (i'm not a MOS expert ) It adheres to the standards in the Manual of Style and the relevant WikiProject guidelines; this includes conventions on naming, spelling, and style (see Portal and Portal guidelines).
- Images.
- Not self-referential beyond (if at all) a welcome note.
- Links to other WMF projects.
I have never brought a portal to featured status, but this one seems to meet all the listed criteria. benzband (talk) 19:45, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
- Well, no one has touched it but me (I don't know how "well maintained" that is; and as a new project built from (essentially) scratch, it'd be hard to demonstrate that). I've got 27 Articles, 24 Bios, and 21 Pictures (72 total pieces of "Featured") to put into templates, of which only 22 have; so at least there's still work to do.
