DYK for Balanda Atis

On 30 August 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Balanda Atis, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that cosmetic chemist Balanda Atis created the foundation worn by Lupita Nyong'o in advertisements for Lancôme? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Balanda Atis. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Balanda Atis), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Draft:Dale Lindsay

Why do you believe this is a hoax? Thanks! 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 02:24, 31 August 2022 (UTC)

My bad! I CSD'd that based on what I remember from the other (now-deleted) drafts JuanRomero2008 created last year. I was reviewing my CSD log - specifically for November 2021 - and noticed it was the only remaining of their ~20 previous draft creations. I remember some were obviously fake, with their lead sentences containing many real nationalities and some made-up ones mashed together at a time. Specifically "American-Canadian-Australian-British digital animation producer" in this draft gave me that impression. This is really not that far-out, so I totally understand why you declined. Hello, Bridget,

Thank you so much for the reminder Liz!! In a quick search, I was able to find a Radio-Canada profile of her and a decent amount of other coverage out there I hadn't seen before. Hopefully I can use them to improve the draft. Best, Bridget (talk) 14:12, 10 September 2022 (UTC)

Bashabi Fraser

Thank you for taking a look at the page for Bashabi and for the various amendments you have made. My effort was rejected although I thought I had followed the guidance and kept it as straightforward and to the point as possible. Simple facts and all referenced I believe. However the rejection of the entry suggested that there is not sufficient published material discussing Bashabi. This may be true. However she has a public profile and has been honoured under the UK honours system with a high ranking honour - a CBE - for her considerable work between India and Scotland and she does seem to me to be deserving of an entry. Has this draft which you amended now been re-submitted or should I do that? Thanks again. Hatterick. Hatterick (talk) 12:44, 1 November 2022 (UTC)

@Hatterick: Thanks for all your work in writing the draft. I totally agree that she should have an entry, judging from her achievements. The draft has not been re-submitted yet - if you wouldn't mind, I can try to add more citations so that reviewing editors can easily verify see the exact source of each statement in the entry. I'll try to do that when I get more time this week. Best, Bridget (talk) 16:29, 3 November 2022 (UTC) (edited 04:37, 4 November 2022 (UTC))

I was hoping you could take a look at some edits I suggested to improve the article about Tamara Gustavson, which have been partially reviewed. I’ve declared a COI. The suggested edits are on top of the Talk page: Talk:Tamara Gustavson. Thanks in advance.Wiki64gus (talk) 20:41, 9 November 2022 (UTC)

Autopatrolled granted

Hi Bridget, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled user right to your account, following a request by a new page patroller (permalink). This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed', and no longer appear in the new pages feed. Autopatrolled is assigned to prolific creators of articles, where those articles do not require further review. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers.

Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.

Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. If you wish to have this permission flag removed at any time, please let me know or contact another administrator. Happy editing! DanCherek (talk) 17:24, 20 November 2022 (UTC)

Thank you! Also many thanks, Pppery, for your time enforcing GR policy. =) Bridget (talk) 19:37, 20 November 2022 (UTC)

Unnecessary reverts?

Before anything else, I'm going to state that I promise that I'm not trying to be rude here.

I have to ask why you felt the need to revert the Jampack page? Your note on my talk page stated "Wikipedia isn't a place for walkthroughs, cheats, lists of game content or detailed instructions on how to play a game". The problem with that is that the link you provided states nothing against this kind of content [the content you removed]. You stated "lists of game content", however that's not specifically stated in your link, nor can it be used as an excuse to revert an entire page because it's far too vague to enforce. If the levels of every individual game was listed, that would warrant a removal, however the Jampack volumes aren't just a bunch of levels, they're a bunch of entirely different games (with multiple, playable levels within those). I'd argue that, with there being over 100 different titles, it would make them unique enough to be listed because there are far too many to just be thrown into a generic pool like that. I'll use another page on WP as a comparison to help make my point here. Let's compare this to the Call of Duty page. Exact same concept. It has a general description and then a list of every single game in the franchise that acts as a directory to their own separate pages. That's exactly what the Jampack page was before you reverted the entire thing (not talking about mine, but about it prior to your original revert in January).

Now see, your statements in the revision history where you said "WP is not a directory" and "this is probably more suited to websites that specialize in video games rather than Wikipedia" would have been totally valid (even if the COD page alone contradicts both of those statements) and I would have left it at that, HOWEVER that would be valid if this kind of list DID exist elsewhere, but it simply doesn't. There's no game-related wiki (or just any form of official website) that details the specific contents of each Jampack volume, and it's incredibly difficult to find the specific details about certain discs because they're buried DEEP in AbandonWare-related archives. WP is where everyone goes for easy-to-find information, therefor this is the most efficient place to have this kind of basic information that you can't seem to find compiled anywhere else. The original page prior to your first revert was far more organized and had no clutter compared to mine, and it had lived on WP for 3 years before you changed it. I know you mean well, as do I, but I definitely feel that your reverts 100% damage the page. I'm simply going to change it to the properly organized way that it was, and if I find it reverted back to the nothingness that it is now, I'm very willing dispute it given my argument made here (and if it's reverted, then I will assume you're willing to dispute as well). African Renaissance Monument

Hello,

I have just reverted your edit on African Renaissance Monument. There is no Freedom of Panorama law in Senegal, so the picture I added to the Gallery is for me the only king of close-up which can be showm on Wikimedia projects. What do you think ? Best regards Baba Gaby (talk) 10:31, 8 December 2022 (UTC)

@Baba Gaby: Thanks for reaching out - my reasoning was that the photo does not add much, since the large focus is the two people doing a neat gymnastics pose and the top part of the monument is out of frame. Women in Red 8th Anniversary

  Women in Red 8th Anniversary
In July 2015 around 15.5% of the English Wikipedia's biographies were about women. As of July 2023, 19.61% of the English Wikipedia's biographies are about women. That's a lot of biographies created in the effort to close the gender gap. Happy 8th Anniversary! Join us for some virtual cake and add comments or memories and please keep on editing to close the gap!

Regarding repeated removal of picture

Dear Bridget why is that the picture of captain Zoya keeps on being removed? Thank you so much. 160.39.55.189 (talk) 01:19, 30 August 2023 (UTC)

SSBU commentator

American SSBU commentator “Daramgar” could use an article; I’ve made a blank draft, but I have I have no experience in bio articles. I noticed you listed Super Smash Bros as an interest so I thought to ask you first. SurferSquall (talk) 05:51, 17 September 2023 (UTC)

There are at least sufficient sources for information, but i’m not sure how far they’ll go in terms of article content. SurferSquall (talk) 05:53, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
Hi there SurferSquall, thanks for reaching out. If you don't mind, could you tell me what sources you found for the article? Some possible ones I found are this Esports Illustrated profile (which seems like the strongest one), part of this interview published by an esports organization, a brief mention in this Wired article, and this brief press release published on these websites [1][2]. It'd be great to have a couple good in-depth sources as a foundation. Best, Bridget (talk) 12:34, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
I made a list of a few, I'll take a deeper look when I'm home. Again, I do believe enough exists for at least a stub. SurferSquall (talk) 00:07, 20 September 2023 (UTC)

Draft:J.J. McCullough

Hello Brie. I can't remember how I found your page, but I'm looking for feedback to improve this draft biography about political commentator and youtuber Draft:J.J. McCullough. It's been rejected/deleted a few times, but I wouldn't say the first handful of attempts were by people who made a decent effort. Two weeks ago, when I asked for feedback from wiki editors, I was told explicitly by a couple of editors they would not offer feedback because the subject was too political. Hope you might be interested in giving it a read. Count3D (talk) 19:13, 3 December 2023 (UTC)

The article Diem Saunders you nominated as a good article has passed  ; see Talk:Diem Saunders for comments about the article, and Talk:Diem Saunders/GA1 for the nomination. Well done! Hi @Bridget! I'm popping by because I received a notification that your reverted my edit and a subsequent message on my talk page. I think you'll find you intended to revert a prior edit adding a fact to the BLP and accidentally reverted my edit instead, which was simply a grammatical correction (the words "mother" and "father" were improperly capitalized). Administrator Elections: Call for Candidates

Administrator Elections | Call for Candidates

The administrator elections process has officially started! Interested editors are encouraged to self-nominate or arrange to be nominated by reviewing the instructions at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/October 2024/Call for candidates.

Here is the schedule:

  • October 8–14 - Candidate sign-up (we are here)
  • October 22–24 - Discussion phase
  • October 25–31 - SecurePoll voting phase

Please note the following:

  • The requirements to run are identical to RFA—a prospective candidate must be extended confirmed.
  • Prospective candidates are advised to become familar with the community's expectations of adminstrators, which are much higher than the minimum requirement of having extended confirmed status. This includes reviewing successful and unsuccessful RFAs, reading the essay Wikipedia:Advice for RfA candidates, and possibly requesting an optional poll on their chances of passing.
  • The process will have a one week call for candidates phase, a one week pause to set up SecurePoll, a three-day period of public discussion, followed by 7 days of no public discussion and a private vote using SecurePoll.
  • The outcomes of this process are identical to making requests for adminship. There is no official difference between an administrator appointed through RFA or administrator elections.
  • Administrator elections are also a valid means of regaining adminship for de-sysopped editors.

Ask any questions about the process at the talk page. A separate user talk message will be sent to official candidates with additional information about the process.

To avoid sending too many messages, this will be the last mass message sent about administrator elections. If you are interested in the process, please make sure to watchlist the appropriate pages. A watchlist notice will be added when the discussion phase opens, and again when the voting phase opens.

Administrator Elections: Discussion phase

Administrator Elections | Discussion phase

The discussion phase of the October 2024 administrator elections is officially open. As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:

  • October 22–24 - Discussion phase
  • October 25–31 - SecurePoll voting phase
  • November 1–? - Scrutineering phase

During October 22–24, we will be in the discussion phase. The candidate subpages will open to questions and comments from everyone, in the same style as a request for adminship. You may discuss the candidates at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/October 2024/Discussion phase.

On October 25, we will start the voting phase. The candidate subpages will close again to public questions and discussion, and everyone will have a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. You can see who voted, but not who they voted for. Please note that the vote tallies cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see an individual candidate's tally during the election. The suffrage requirements are different from those at RFA.

Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which will last for an indeterminate amount of time, perhaps a week or two. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the main election page. In order to be granted adminship, a candidate must have received at least 70.0% support, calculated as Support / (Support + Oppose). As this is a vote and not a consensus, there are no bureaucrat discussions ("crat chats").

Any questions or issues can be asked on the election talk page. Thank you for your participation. Happy electing.
