Hello DiplomatTesterMan, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to Waste Warriors have been removed, as they appear to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 12:59, 28 January 2018 (UTC)

Help needed with reviewing the article - Jodie Underhill

I am not sure how to request for a review for this Wikipedia page Jodie Underhill the correct way, hence I am trying this way, by tagging two users who have reviewed pages I have created before automatically -
User:Chandan_Guha - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Chandan_Guha
User:Narutolovehinata5 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Narutolovehinata5

I am also not sure how reviewing helps a page, since this page is not reviewed and is still visible everywhere on Wikipedia, but I do get it is an important part of getting a new page accepted into Wikipedia. I can't find the correct Wikipedia help page to answer this clearly.
Thanks a lot in advance and sorry for any trouble and inconvenience.

DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 00:45, 31 January 2018 (UTC)

Once you have posted a new page, normally it will get automatically reviewed. As for having some idea of reviewing, you can have a look at Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Reviewers. Cheers. -Chandan Guha (talk) 01:07, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
I went through the link you mentioned - Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Reviewers - this is mainly addressed to reviewers rather than people looking to get a page reviewed. I hope I didn't overlook anything. But it was really helpful in other ways. Thank you for the information. I also wanted to confirm that since you are a reviewer, can't you review the page? I am not sure if direct requests are even appreciated or not. Just confused here since all the other pages I have created got reviews relatively very fast in the past. DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 06:39, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
Your article is there in the list of new articles and somebody would obviously review it. Earlier, there was a big back log, but now reviews are quite fast. Moreover, your article would remain, even if not reviewed, and if there is sufficient reason, it can get deleted even after review. One person may okay it but another person can get it deleted. Don't be in a hurry. Cheers. - Chandan Guha (talk) 07:54, 31 January 2018 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Operation All Out (disambiguation)

A tag has been placed on Operation All Out (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an orphaned disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic); or
  • disambiguates no (zero) extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. --Animalparty! (talk) 02:26, 1 February 2018 (UTC)

Operation All Out refers to two different Indian army operations. So I created a disambiguation page to clarify this. I saw the criteria for a disambiguation page and I do understand under which criteria you have tagged it for deletion. Thanks... I put the tag for page deletion too.

The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

I AM PASTING MY RESPONSE TO THE DELETION HERE AS WELL FOR MY OWN CONSIDERATION - DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 19:33, 5 February 2018 (UTC)

KEEP
A few reasons as to why this should stay.
1. This is not purely original research as citations have been listed where some of the authors of Lost Kashmiri History have been mentioned directly or the organisation and organisation members themselves has been cited by media outlets as author. Other people have even blogged about Lost Kashmiri History being a good source.
See -
http://www.maryscullyreports.com/lost-kashmiri-history-archives/
http://withkashmir.org/lkh/
http://www.kashmirconnected.com/publications-news/lost-kashmiri-history
2. Please note how other leading media portals both in India and Pakistan use Lost Kashmiri History as a source or author showing the reputation and notability it has. See below.
- The Wire (Indian web publication) is a leading news portal - "Muhammad Faysal is [...] and co-founder of the Lost Kashmiri History Project."
- http://www.dawn.com/news/1270341 - Dawn (newspaper) This is a leading newspaper in Pakistan - "...was born in Srinagar, Kashmir. He's the co-founder of the Lost Kashmiri History Project."
- https://www.alaraby.co.uk/english/comment/2017/8/15/kashmir-and-the-festering-legacy-of-partition - "...Arsilan Aziz, founder of the website Lost Kashmiri History, told The New Arab..."
3.Please note how some sources and citations for some Wikipedia pages on media organisations are the media organisation themselves.
4. There has been at least two editors who have helped improve this page and prevent vandalism, rather than try to take it down. Both of these editors are experienced in their own ways. The history log can be seen accordingly. (see User:Cmr08 and User:CASSIOPEIA) This is in the true spirit of Wikipedia.
5. Note this page - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helping_Angels - It has not been deleted. Just a template box put up stating that the article needs improvement. There are many stubs on Wikipedia with very very few sources. Lack of citation (as compared to absence of sources) cannot be the only grounds for deletion especially in a case when there are citations and sources and when notability becomes subjective to the region and area and field it represents.
6.I have no Conflict of Interest here as I am not part of Lost Kashmiri History. Nor do I have conflict of interest related to the Kashmir conflict. I have started pages related to the Indian Army, the Director General of NIA India as well as Kashmir etc... as can be seen by the type of articles i have started and edited and photographs I have contributed.
7. If even after all this people think the page still needs to be removed, according to Wikipedia guidelines, then well, ok. Part of the learning. Maybe Lost Kashmiri History may be able to prove notability etc on Wikipedia better after a few months or years.
Cheers :)

Hi, yes i noted that a some parts of my changes have been undone. Like the section about the number of records in the library. The number of records in the library cannot change so I didn't paraphrase that as i did paraphrase other things more carefully this time. Many of my changes on the page were done carefully as well as adding original photographs. I think i should have been more careful about adding the number of records in the library or left that out entirely or just found new sources. This is the second time you are warning me and i am getting scared of being blocked. Will be extra doubly careful now. Literally scared of being blocked. Sorry for wasting the time of the admins and others.@Diannaa:
DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 19:14, 6 February 2018 (UTC)
Numerical data need not be changed or re-worded. But that's not what happened here; what I found was copy-pasted directly from two different websites. That's not okay. You won't be blocked for copyvio if you stop committing copyright violations. Please be more careful, and you will be fine. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 19:23, 6 February 2018 (UTC)
Thank you for the details @Diannaa:, understood the problem better. It's amazing how efficient Wikipedia can be considering the number of people who make changes to it. Yes, I will be doubly careful. DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 19:33, 6 February 2018 (UTC)

Supporting Indian Wikipedia Program resource distribution

In 2017 - 2018, the Wikimedia Foundation and Google working in close coordination with the Centre for Internet and Society (CIS), Wikimedia India chapter (WMIN) and user groups will pilot a program encouraging Wikipedia communities to create locally relevant and high-quality content in Indian languages. This program (Code name: Project Tiger) will:

(a) Support active and experienced Wikipedia editors through the donation of laptops and stipends for internet access and
(b) Sponsor a language-based contest that aims to address existing Wikipedia content gaps.

The objective of the program is to provide laptops and internet stipends for existing editors who need support to contribute more actively. 50 basic model Acer Chromebooks and Internet stipends for 100 contributors are available for distribution. Provided resources are the sole property of the beneficiaries and should be used for the betterment of the movement.

If you're an active Wikimedian, and interested to receive support from this project, please apply. It will take around 10 minutes of your time, and will ask descriptive questions about your contribution to Indic Wikimedia projects.

Hi, you are adding some rubbish sources to that article and you are also ignoring WP:OVERCITE. Neither are necessary. - Sitush (talk) 16:36, 13 February 2018 (UTC)

@Sitush: Hmm, ok. that's enough editing I guess for now, tried to make it more relevant since it is under deletion and I think according to notability guidelines etc it meets the requirement but then that is to be discussed on the deletion page right :) ... just one more citations for this line - "she has gained about 606K followers within a day! The queen of expressions has thus become the third “celebrity” to attain such a feat and has now joined the league consisting of American model -TV personality Kylie Jenner and legendary footballer Cristiano Ronaldo! They are the only two celebrities ahead of her to gain such mammoth following in just one day. " this was in Zee - http://zeenews.india.com/people/priya-prakash-varrier-creates-record-on-instagram-details-inside-2080766.html ... is that a good enough source? DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 16:41, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
Also, not ignoring overcite.@Sitush: I know that guideline, it isnt a policy as the template says and have seen places where it has been ignored slightly to the benefit of the article. Cheers :) :) enough on this article for now. DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 16:44, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
Zee is not a good source, nor is DNA or even The Times of India. They're all paid to print stuff by the movie PR people. - Sitush (talk) 16:48, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
I see your stance on this @Sitush:. But do you have sources yourself which can be added in the article stating TOI or DNA is pr? This should be discussed on the talk page more. :) :)DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 16:54, 13 February 2018 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Comic Con India, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Tom Richmond and Joe Harris (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Project Tiger Writing Contest

In 2017 – 2018, the Wikimedia Foundation and Google working in close coordination with the Centre for Internet and Society (CIS), Wikimedia India Chapter (WMIN) and user groups from India, are piloting a program encouraging Wikipedia communities to create locally relevant and high-quality content in Indian languages. This program will (a) support active and experienced Wikipedia editors through the donation of laptops and stipends for internet access and (b) sponsor a language-based contest that aims to address existing Wikipedia content gaps.

Phase (a) has been completed, during which active contributors were awarded laptops and internet stipends. Phase (b) will be a contest in which editors will come together and develop a writing contest focused on content gaps. Each month three individual prizes will be awarded to each community based on their contribution for the month. The prizes worth 3,000 INR, 2000 INR, and 1,000 INR, will be awarded to the top contributors for each month. The contest started at March 1, 2018, 0:00, and will end at May 31, 2018, 23:59 (IST). Replaceable fair use File:Aishwarya Devan Indian Actress.jpeg

Thanks for uploading File:Aishwarya Devan Indian Actress.jpeg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ronhjones  (Talk) 17:22, 9 April 2018 (UTC)

@Ronhjones: Thank you for the explanation as to why this cannot come under fair use. I have put the deletion tag on the page. Will be more careful when uploading photographs I have not taken. DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 15:56, 10 April 2018 (UTC)

Image suggestion

Hello. Regarding your photos about the protests in Delhi for the gang rape (actually, I asked Abhinav619 if someone has the photos); I wrote a follow up article about the ordinate. See. Can you please point me towards the best photo suitable for the article (for the section which mentions protests)? Also, is there a way I could contact Wikimedians in New Delhi/any particular geographic location you belong to?
acagastya 20:33, 22 April 2018 (UTC)

@Acagastya: Hi. I think there is an error with the link you have directed me towards. Please confirm. Since the link is broken I am not quite sure exactly what you are asking. If you want photographs of the protests that had happened on parliament street I have uploaded a few already into wikimedia commons and into the respective articles.
Finding Wikimedians in New Delhi can be done only if the user chooses to reveal their location such as in the case of Project Delhi. (hunting them down by IPs isn't advisable :D) There are also users who conduct wikipedia meetups in Delhi (see link Wikipedia:Meetup/Delhi) Also depending on the reason, say if you are looking for people in this geographic location with expertise in a particular area or who can volunteer to take photographs, then there are ways of finding that, like say I uploaded original pics of an event in New Delhi and you're asking me. DiplomatTesterMan 11:02, 23 April 2018 (UTC)
Link should work now. However, the problem with the wikiproject page is that when I need to ping a lot of people, for a fast/instant communication, that becomes hard. I would suggest (if it does not exist already) to use a Telegram group so that there could be instant, real-time communication and those who are looking for help can have a centralised location for information exchange. Let me know what you think (I think I should CC@Abhinav619:)
acagastya 18:52, 23 April 2018 (UTC)
@Acagastya: Hey, sorry for the delay in replying. I saw the article and the picture, it is also featured on the main page of of Wikinews. Great stuff. So how far have you got in this effort of creating a easier way for information exchange. Would love to know more. Did you get in touch with Abhinav619? What was his input?DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 07:33, 30 April 2018 (UTC)

Insufficient references

If you're going to create articles about subjects like Kashi to Kashmir, you absolutely must familiarise yourself with our rules about references. We don't care what random blogs or websites have to say about anything. These are often little more than public relations outlets, and any moron can start a website and publish whatever he wants. There's no presumption of actual journalism going on. Please stick to mainstream sources with established reputations for fact-checking and accuracy. See WP:ICTF#Guidelines on sources for some examples of sources considered suitable and unsuitable in the context of Indian entertainment. Additionally, you must become aware of our general notability guideline. If a film isn't getting significant coverage in mainstream sources, it doesn't belong at Wikipedia as an article. We're not here to promote minor projects. (Or to promote anything.) See also our other notability guidelines for various subjects. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:24, 4 June 2018 (UTC)

@Cyphoidbomb: I put a deletion request on the page.DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 04:22, 5 June 2018 (UTC)
@Cyphoidbomb: And by the way, Times of India and UNI, the citations i had used were not random blogs... TOI is a prominent media house and UNI is one of the largest news agencies in India. Yes, there are not enough other sources... hence the deletion request. I hadn't used random blogs here specifically. Not arguing. Just letting you know. I am much more careful then i was before. Guess i have to be more careful.DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 04:29, 5 June 2018 (UTC)
I'm aware of Times of India. I'm talking about sources like bollywoodgaliyara.com, hollybollyreviews.com, and todayexpressnews.com. Neither of these sources are established, and there's no presumption that they're run by anybody with any expertise in Indian films. There's no presumption that they're even run by people, since many of these faceless sites are just content scrapers. I don't know that deletion was necessary. Moving it back into draft space might have been a way to go. Just to end on a positive, I like your photographs on your user page. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:20, 5 June 2018 (UTC)
@Cyphoidbomb: I was just really grumpy that time and needed a break from wiki and yes, deletion was not necessary. I understand what you mean by the sources you have mentioned and why they should not be used. Thanks for the mention about the pictures. DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 03:29, 14 June 2018 (UTC)

Warning template misuse

Please refrain from abusing warning or blocking templates, as you did to User talk:Rzvas. Doing so is a violation of Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Please use the user warnings sandbox for any tests you may want to do, or take a look at our introduction page to learn more about contributing to the encyclopedia. Thank you.

All he did was implement the merge of a non-notable subject. Don't warn people for good contributions. My Lord (talk) 06:49, 4 July 2018 (UTC)

This seems like an edit war. Consensus had not been arrived at on the talkpage of Operation All Out relating the the merge. Further the user could have discussed it before going forward with the merge and blanking the page. The user also added the incident into the 2017 timeline, that message was not a warning but a general message. The warning was for merging and blanking an entire Wikipedia page. @My Lord: DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 06:52, 4 July 2018 (UTC)
We have been waiting for months. Subject was completely non-notable that didnt deserved creation at first. It was merged. That's not blanking. My Lord (talk) 07:02, 4 July 2018 (UTC)
@My Lord: Blanking term used since the edits cannot be reverted and the page is "blanked" ... consensus lol... Do whatever you want now. I am not taking part in this edit war. If you think it was a good change then ok. Im done with this. Happy editing. DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 07:09, 4 July 2018 (UTC)
DiplomatTesterMan, in case it is not clear, My Lord basically had no understanding of Wikipedia policies etc., they just get off on acting like an admin, throwing around templates inappropriately, etc. --2601:142:3:F83A:1A5:35A4:D362:8665 (talk) 12:19, 4 July 2018 (UTC)

IDEA - Badge for pageviews, as compared to edits

Idea... badges, stars, accomplishment messages etc for getting page views on user initiated pages on wikipedia... this has nothing to do with number of edits... edits on other pages etc... just one more way of crediting someone other than for good work, and all the current awards... check if it alreayd exists...

This idea needs to be worked upon. Programming would make it easier. Does it already exist? Barn stars specific to this idea?

WP:VP #IDEAS section is the right place for such a post--DBigXray 19:16, 26 August 2018 (UTC)
Yes, @DBigXray: thank you. I just sort of put it here as a reminder for myself too, and there was hesitation to post it to village pump just now until I can explain it better. Thanks again. DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 22:24, 26 August 2018 (UTC)
I found something of this type. Wikipedia:Million Award --DBigXray 21:59, 3 October 2018 (UTC)
Yes! This is similar to what I had in mind. Thanks! So the Wikipedia:Million Award lists two points...
1. to recognize editors who improve important, high-traffic articles
2. to encourage all Wikipedians by reminding them of the huge volume of readers helped by our work
What I had in mind had more to do with quantifying the number of pageviews from pages created by the editor. So it would translate into something like this...
1. to recognize editors who identify important new articles that need to be created on Wikipedia
2. to quantity the number of page views an editor gets from pages initiated by them
3. to encourage all Wikipedians by reminding them of the huge volume of readers helped by our work
Where 1 and 2 are independent of each of course. This is a nice essay linked in the article you tagged User:TCO/Improving Wikipedia's important articles Thanks!
DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 13:13, 5 October 2018 (UTC)
So, you are suggesting a script that run regularly for each of million of users and makes a summation of page views of all the article a user created. This does look like an overhead to me (personal opinion), with benefits that are mostly already achieved by Million Award that doesnt need any script. if the benefits are more than the cost associated, you can post this on WP:VP idea section to see what others have to say to this. good luck. --DBigXray 13:22, 5 October 2018 (UTC)
Lol yes, that's why I had just left the idea alone for now. DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 07:53, 7 October 2018 (UTC)
Maybe when I have time, I can do the coding myself for this. DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 17:31, 8 October 2018 (UTC)
Sure you can, but the codes would still need permission to run on the Wikimedia servers, and it is computationally intensive, they might now allow to run it. Anyway, I must admit the WP:VP guys can have a better say at such possibilities. At the end of the day, its all about consensus, if the idea is really helpful. --DBigXray 18:03, 8 October 2018 (UTC)
@DBigXray: Yes, I do understand that... I need to urge you now to leave this idea alone otherwise I will keep obsessing over it too :D :D I need to leave it alone too :D :D this is not a priority at all, so much more to do on Wikipedia that is more important and Wikipedia already has so many wonderful and creative badges and awards, Million Award etc as you showed me... This particular conversation ends here, I will archive it now :D :D DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 18:26, 8 October 2018 (UTC)

Manual Archiving

I see that you are regularly arching your page manually, I just wanted to let you know that you could get a more cleaner talk page, simply by reducing the archive duration in the archive script or by using Archive keywords. (read more at User:ClueBot_III/ArchiveThis#Optional_parameters). you can then use the time you save on improving the articles. cheers. --DBigXray 15:41, 10 December 2019 (UTC)

Noted, I have to do this. (But the convenience of manual archiving sometimes is nice.) DTM (talk) 05:17, 12 December 2019 (UTC)
Auto archive is more trusted to manual archiving. Manual stuff are rarely convenient than auto, but that is just me. I just wanted to let you know. Rest is upto you. DBigXray 07:31, 12 December 2019 (UTC)
DBigXray, You forgot to sign your reply so I manually signed it for you :D (Hope you get the sarcasm and humour of this :D I know the joke is a little lame but it isnt that bad) DTM (talk) 11:18, 12 December 2019 (UTC)
Lol, May be you will eventually get bored of doing this menial job. My suggestions would come in handy then--DBigXray 12:27, 12 December 2019 (UTC)
You wrote: "Manual stuff are rarely convenient than auto" - I guess one rare situation would be where manual is more convenient - a Wikipedia being built by only machines and humans didn't have to do anything once the initial program was coded. Where is the fun in that? (Having talk page conversations with machines on Wikipedia?) Though yes I agree that you were just talking of a much smaller archiving example :D. DTM (talk) 08:00, 13 December 2019 (UTC)
Another reason regarding trust that I did not elaborate above was, if people find that you are manually editing all our archives, they may think that you have removed, copy edited, modified the contents while moving it. The bot archiving has trust that it will not do such things. Although this is not written but this is how many in the community thinks soo..DBigXray 09:56, 13 December 2019 (UTC)

WikiCup 2020 September newsletter

The fourth round of the competition has finished, with 865 points being required to qualify for the final round, nearly twice as many points as last year. It was a hotly competitive round with two contestants with 598 and 605 points being eliminated, and all but two of the contestants who reached the final round having achieved an FA during the round. The highest scorers were

  •   Bloom6132, with 1478 points gained mainly from 5 featured lists, 12 DYKs and 63 in the news items;
  •  HaEr48 with 1318 points gained mainly from 2 featured articles, 5 good articles and 8 DYKs;
  •   Lee Vilenski with 1201 points mainly gained from 2 featured articles and 10 good articles.

Between them, contestants achieved 14 featured articles, 14 featured lists, 2 featured pictures, 87 good articles, 90 DYK entries, 75 ITN entries, 95 featured article candidate reviews and 81 good article reviews. Congratulations to all who participated! It was a generally high-scoring and productive round and I think we can expect a highly competitive finish to the competition.

Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. It would be helpful if this list could be cleared of any items no longer relevant. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! ..."he chose to give us away to China"

I am trying to create the article for a low budget movie "1962: My Country Land". A line by the director struck me:
"The 1962 war is prominently etched in the state's imagination. And when we talk about it, we cannot help remembering Jawaharlal Nehru's immortal line, 'My heart goes out to the people of Assam.' He could have worded it otherwise, yet, he chose to give us away to China," says Borgohain. (ref) DTM (talk) 13:08, 1 February 2021 (UTC)

And yet, if the Assamese had historically integrated the Arunachal tribes into their society, (like say Kumaonis or Himachalis or even the Nepalis), none of this would have occurred. The so-called Assam Rifles is misnamed. Those troops are recruited mostly from the hill areas around Assam, with whom the Assamese themselves have had little contact. Their "country land" had once been gobbled up by the Burmese and the British had to go rescue them. The Assamese have a lot of soul-searching to do. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 14:05, 1 February 2021 (UTC)

I watched your trailer of 1962: The War in the Hills. Then youtube showed me two brilliant documentaries:

Both highly recommended. The second one is a bit long. Do it in a couple of sessions. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 20:35, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
