editThis edit hase been removed and placed below:
- Dear Fang Aili, Thanks for the encouragement and instructions. I am going to delete the external links to the article on "audio mastering" and all the software companies listed there as well.
- Second, I will edit the page and take away all the content that is deemed to be a conflict of interest.
- Third, mentioning a particular mastering engineer should not be allowed even if it is someone with extensive major studio recording credits.
- Fourth.- I will try to summarize and try to use simple terms a layman will understand as suggested by you initially, however, I suggest to include also some of the technical descriptions for those with a more advance knowledge in search for clarification or verification. I am in agreement with you that there is no need to have "maximum delivery potential" on a page of its own and its definition maybe transfered to "audio" or "music" mastering for a future debate and revision. Thanks again for your assistance with the Professional sound production WikiProject. Evinatea 16:51, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Dear Fang Aili, I need your assistance with the Editing of "audio mastering". Perhaps, I should start all over again. This my first edit and i am not sure of what I was supposed to do at the page other than clean up redundancies, grammar errors , typos and conflicting links. Can I just give you a run-down of the edits and could you help me create a summary? You help will be greatly appreciated! Evinatea 17:50, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
- I am not sure what to tell you. What do you think is wrong with the article? Do you really think it needs a complete re-write? If so, you could start a page at Audio mastering/temp. When you are finished you can ask people to look at it, and if there's a consensus, move it to audio mastering. Regarding good article creation, there are several help pages on this. You could start with Wikipedia:Article development. --Fang Aili talk 18:54, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
I apologize Fang Aili. I didn't get your message on time. The page was reduced to a more relevant description of the mastering process, and conflicting links to a mastering engineer and record company were removed. This page should not advertise anyone in particular even if there is a claim of notability which may not necessarily merit distinction. The mastering process has been for the most part an evolution of ideas, processing equipment and techniques past from engineer to engineer throughout the years and no one should claim invention.
I also removed all the internal links that appear to simply promote software company products. Although some of this products are in effect used in world class mastering studios, there are many others that were omitted, so mentioning them should suffice.
Finally I deleted 2 sections: one related to a specific task within mastering that is not necessary to mention "Compressed higher RMS vs clipped higher RMS, density" and another "Bit rate, sample rate, and dithering" that is not crucial to mention, but is more suitable to be transferred to another engineering topic such as "digital recording" or "audio engineering".
Unless everyone moves to allow every single aspect of the mastering process, then yes, this could be brought back. Although I caution that the page could be too large for any practical quick reference use. Please let me know , if what I said made sense and if you require more of me. Thanks!Evinatea 19:21, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
- Any discussion on this article is better placed at its talk page. But for one thing, there's no problem with linking various products if they have articles. If they're blue-linked (meaning the topic has an article), it is presumably notable enough to exist. Simply listing it at audio mastering doesn't promote that product. Cheers, Fang Aili talk 20:07, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Gotcha! Also, I will create within 24 hours the Audio mastering/temp suggested by you, merging the music mastering with audio mastering pages (Main definitions only) for public scrutiny. What do you think about the idea to have 2 definitions: one layman terms and another more technical on that page? I would also prefer to have the members of the "Professional sound production WikiProject" to vote on the final revision page and not some unknown IP address people though. How do I got about gathering the members to accomplish this? I sincerely thank you for all your kind assistance. Evinatea 21:01, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
- You're welcome! Post on the project's talk page to get feedback.
- You probably want just one definition; I've never seen something defined twice. But again, the folks at the project will have better insight than I.
- FYI, I've nominated a few of those software pages for deletion, on the basis that they are advertising and/or do not assert notability. Cheers, Fang Aili talk 21:06, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Dear Fang Aili, The user Mike Sorensen, came back and undeleted the external links to the article about "artmastering" that you clearly left notice it was under debate. I am responding to his explantations and I must say they are based on personal experiences and are not of a general nature in the real world. I'll leave up to you the proper handling of the procedures with respect to his violation and address such a disregard of your authority. Maybe, he didn't mean it. Maybe , he was ignorant like me in the beginning, again, it's up to you. I'll be in touch.Evinatea 01:39, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
- Evinatea, I'm afraid you misunderstand my role as administrator. I have no authority in content matters. What you can do is try to support your argument with reliable sources; it will be harder for Mike to argue with you if you have something to back up your words. Just remember to assume good faith. I'll keep an eye on the article and do what I can. But basically if you have a disagreement with Mike, you should work it out with him and anyone else who has an opinion on it. This is called "consensus building" on Wikipedia, and it's how most disputes are resolved. --Fang Aili talk 15:39, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
Dear Fang Aili, I thought you understood the importance of taking away the spam links. That's the issue at hand. I am responding point after point all their accusations, insinuations and so far, they can't make a valid point to bring back those links. But, they try again and again.
I don't care about my own definition anymore if the general consensus is that is not a good definition. I would like to contribute to Wikipedia not exploit it.Evinatea 15:53, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
- Is the dispute about "artmastering" and the link that went with it? I posted a comment about artmastering at Talk:Audio mastering. --Fang Aili talk 16:04, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for your response. I believe that whoever came in today and posted that comment about ArtSayecki articles , is right. This fellow has been spamming the mastering page for over a year. But I didn't make this comment. Is there a way to prove this? How can someone leave no trace of a visit at all? Thanks so muchEvinatea 16:15, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
Reprographics
editHey hey. I took a look at the web comic in question and I'm finding it coming up a little short on WP:WEB. It doesn't make any assertion of possible notability beyond being part of some web comic collective, which itself doesn't really seem notable. The comic garners a total of 500-600 Google hits, most of which are from blogs. I wasn't really able to find anything of substance.
Now, there's a trend recently to question the whole concept of notability and reliable sources specifically regarding web comics, so there's likely to be a backlash against any deletion. This tends to be in scale with how vocal and how large the fan-base is. I'd suggest holding off on this one until we can re-establish exactly what precedent we want to set regarding notability and web content. If we can set that out clearly and concisely, then we might be better armed for dealing with these things. --Brad Beattie (talk) 01:49, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
Deletion of 'The Sinister Forest'
editHello Fang Aili, I am writing concerning an article you recently deleted, 'The Sinister Forest'. Unfortunately when i began to composed the article i did not have time to finish it in one sitting, therefore the article did not properly outline why the music group is notable. However, if you would restore the article i will be able to finish writing it properly, perhaps then you can re-asses the notability of the music group. (The reason why me and many other Australians, or members of the post modern philosophy, believe the band to be notable is that it is the first ever, and most prominent group, of a rapidly growing and now quite large, avant garde musical movement) I have had multiple requests to write a Wikipedia article as i have just written a section about the group in soon to be published book about the 'war on modernism'. (The book is called 'Post-Modern Warriors', was written predominately by Professor Richard Brennan, and is due to be released late October through The Sydney University) I think, when properly written, this article will be an important source of information on a group which appears minimally on the internet, but is very influential on Post-Modern music. Also, if you have any spare time i have had difficulty referencing the article as i am partially computer illiterate, (a problem of my generation) so any help would be greatly appreciated. p.s. thankyou for the zen moment Regards, Dr. Daniel Hill (Danger 101010, hahaha!) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Danger101010 (talk • contribs) 04:37, 6 March 2007 (UTC).
- Done. See WP:CITE for help on citing sources. But as a shortcut, you can use <ref>put the reference here</ref>. Let me know if you have any more questions. I'll keep an eye on the article and help if I can. Cheers, and thanks for contributing! --Fang Aili talk 15:19, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
Mastering and Producers
editDear Fang Aili,
The revised page for mastering is on the Project's page the project's talk page Are you going to vote?
If i am becoming a pain, please advise. Or, if you prefer send me off to another admin. I want to bring this to your attention:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_record_producers
Is Wikipedia a yellow pages for musicians as well? Let me know. Evinatea 19:08, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
- List of record producers actually redirects to a category, Category:Record producers. The people listed there are, presumably, notable people (either for being notable record producers, or for other reasons). See WP:CAT for more about categories.
- About Audio mastering/temp, I'm afraid I lack the expertise to really decide on that. You're doing the right thing posting to the wikiproject; hopefully you will get some responses. Meanwhile, you could consider editing other areas and get a larger feel for the way things work here. Just a thought. --Fang Aili talk 19:50, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
Mvelopes
editHello Fang,
First - sorry if I am posting this in the incorrect place - I am assuming I can edit this page to include my question to you. Recently an article regarding Mvelopes was speedily deleted. I compared the article that was created vs the article on MS Money and the Mvelopes article contained more substance and content (in my opinion). Please let me know why the article was deleted and what I can do to improve my style and content so that it passes your editorial approval.
Much thanks!
Rich - ps. do I check back here for a reply or do you email me? boilingrich@gmail.com.````March 6, 2007
- Hello Rich. This article was deleted because it does not assert notability. It also sounds like advertising. If you could edit it to include notability, and write it in an encyclopedic manner (basically, less corporate-speak and more about why it matters), it could be included. If you don't have a copy of the article on your computer I'd be happy to e-mail you one. --Fang Aili talk 19:43, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
Hi Fang,
Thank you very much for your feedback. I appreciate it. Unfortunately, I did not have a copy of the article saved on my hard drive. Would you be kind enough to email it to me at boilingrich@gmail.com. Thanks again for the feedback and I will give it another shot per your recommendations.
Thanks,

Dear Fang Aili, I am writing following the inclusion of a Tree2mydoor to Wikipedia. You have removed the article recently. I believe that the article may have been removed by mistake, the article is not advertising. Tree2mydoor is a ground braking company that has set out to change how commercial businesses work. It is one of a kind and is being recognised by national media in the UK and has won a number of awards for excellence. You will find lots of ecommerce companies listed on wikipedia that are simply promoting themselves and what they do. Tree2mydoor is unique in what it does and how it does it. More content about the innovative work that Tree2mydoor undertakes will be added in time. Please can you reconsider the removal of this article? Alternatively, can you please let me know if the article needs to be updated how can the existing content be made acceptable. PS you will see from the University of Teesside article that Tree2mydoor is legitamate and well respected. Thank you, Altruprof 10:49, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
- Restored. I'll help remove some of the corporate-speak. If you could add some supporting evidence links, that'd be helpful. Cheers, --Fang Aili talk 15:31, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
Many thanks Fang Aili,
Im afraid I am unsure how to add supporting evidence links as I am very new to Wikipedia. My main sources are as follows, could you help me with getting these added to the article please?

- Here's how you can add sources quickly. After a certain fact like, "Tree2mydoor has won such-and-such award," put the supporting link in brackets, like [this]. For example, a link to Google would look like this: [1]. Make sense? Don't hesitate to ask more questions; this is what I'm here for. :) --Fang Aili talk 19:52, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
RE: Mike Sorensen
editDear Fang Aili, I don't blame you for not wanting to communicate or being associated to me now. The accusations made by the so-called user "Mike Sorensen" seem to have done the trick and damaged our good rapport.
Rest assure that if that user returns with more allegations, I will give you this time, a report complete with details so you can show all the other administrators. The report will demonstrate point by point, that for the longest time there was a hoax perpetrated at the Wikipedia audio mastering page. The value of these fraudulent activities reaching over half million dollars.
After talking to my lawyer this morning, he advised me to wait to see what user "Mike Sorensen" will say this time. I must proceed step by step, since some of the names involved in the scam are my own peers and by raising the issue, could affect my career as well. Meantime, in order to assess the damage made by "Mike Sorensen" towards me and my business, my lawyer wants to know, how many people do you think read the accusations against my character and credentials by user Mike Sorensen and the unknown sock puppet IP addresses?
If he ("Mike Sorensen") reads this, chances are he is not coming back. But, I'd like to know how old is his account? (I looked it up and I got Nov. 6, 2006). Is there a proven way to find out about it? Is there another name he might have used or gone under?
Finally, there is a lot of rubbish written citing my name, is that going to get on the search engines? Can it be erased?
I hope to hear from you. Don't forget to cast your vote at the Sound production project which btw, didn't you take out software links from the audio mastering page? Best Evinatea 18:18, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

Hello Fang Aili - I'm trying to get my first contributions into wiki and need some help as to how not to have the entry I posted seem like advertising (as it was cited for deletion). This is a research network investigating new uses for paper and their work is valid. It is world class information and I am hoping you'll consider putting it back up. I also listed information under the header bioactive paper (which was also deleted for other reasons which I'm looking into). Your help is appreciated.Jillw1234 03:47, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hello Jill, thanks for writing. Basically the article needs to be written in an encyclopedic manner. We don't need a blow-by-blow description of what makes the product cool, we need to know why it matters, and it shouldn't be written like it's trying to sell it to me. It also needs to address notability concerns; Wikipedia has certain guidelines on what is considered notable. bioactive paper was deleted for these same reasons. According to these articles, bioactive paper doesn't exist yet, so it's probably not yet ready for Wikipedia inclusion. Have a great day, Fang Aili talk 14:49, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
Deletion of General San Yu picture
editYou deleted the above picture but left no details apart from "incompatible license". Can you please explain exactly which part of the license is incompatible? Okkar 13:56, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hello Okkar. The image did not have source or license information. In order to use the photo, Wikipedia needs to know where the image came from, and if its copyright holder allows its use. See Wikipedia:Uploading images for more. Where did you get the image? That would be a good start. Feel free to ask me further questions. --Fang Aili talk 14:42, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
- Dear Fang, The photo came from the archive of "Defence Services Historical Records" archives and these archives are maintained by Defense Service Museum in Yangon, Myanmar. The copy right holder of the image is Defense Service Museum and I can furnish you with authorisation letter of the commanding officer from Defense Service Museum allowing me to use the image for wikipedia. Please provide me with your postal address and I would be happy to send you the original authorisation letter for your persual. By the way... It would have been nice if you'd ask the questions before you delete the image though... Okkar 17:20, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
- Unfortunately Wikipedia cannot accept images that can only be used on Wikipedia, or "for non-commercial use only". (See WP:CSD - Images - criteria #3.) About asking questions--we get literally hundreds of image uploads every day, and it would be impractical to personally ask about every one of them. I know it's not a perfect system, but the admins here try to keep up the best we can. Thanks, Fang Aili talk 19:49, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Ms. Fang, I'm curious as to why you deleted the Skunk2 Racing page. I had placed a "hold on" to the speedy deletion of the page, and had contacted Skunk2 for more information regarding their company. It makes me feel as if my efforts to create references for people to get a better view on different after market auto companies were futile. --GammaRei 18:07, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
- This was deleted because it did not assert notability. If you like, I can "userfy" the article so you can work on it at your leisure (I will put it here: User:GammaRei/Skunk2 Racing). Before you work on it more though, you should check the notability links and determine if this place/company is notable (according to Wikipedia's standards). That way you don't waste your time if it turns out it's not. Cheers, and thank you for contributing. :) --Fang Aili talk 19:57, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

NSLE/Chacor
editAs I pointed out on my RFA, the early edits by Chacor were made when I had not yet revealed who I was, and I was, admittedly, at that time trying to "build up" some sort of "history" for the account. I finally left as NSLE after the HolyRomanEmpire RFA incident, and took a short break. The more recent edits by NSLE have been covered in my response to GRBerry on my RFA, as well as on the talk page of my nomination. Cheers. – Chacor 02:51, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of BMJ Mureithi
editDear Fang Aili,
I am writing to inform you that BMJ Mureithi is a well respected Kenyan Actor and therefore our Kenyan community living in the United States feels that it would be unfair to delete his biography from wikipedia simply because he is not a celebrity by American standards. Please do us a favor and by unflagging the article and reinstating his picture his picture.

Dear Fang Aili,
Did you really have to remove BMJ Mureithi from Wikipedia? Could you tell us why you had to do it even after pleading with you severally. We feel that this is unfair or that the only 'notable' people that you let stay are American celebrities. BMJ Mureithi is a celebrity in his own country and we would like to believe that Wikipedia is not just about Americans. Please reinstate the article as we feel offended by your action.
Thanks, Ben, Margaret, Kimani and others.
Hello Fang Aili, I am writing concerning an article you recently deleted, 'RK Auto Group'. I'm in the proces of adding additional articles that will link in to the RK Auto Group page, as well as adding additional citations to 3rd party sources. I've taken way too long to do so; my apologies. May I ask that you restore the article and give me 2 weeks to complete the work? If you don't find the additions make it worthwhile then I will understand. I'd appreciate any feedback you have to offer. I'll be using your postings as examples to ensure my contributions are worthwhile and you're happy with what's to come. I believe that, when properly written, it will be clear that the founder of RK Auto Group and the business itself have made major contributions to the Virginia Beach area / community, and that they are noteworthy. Thank you for your time and hopefully, another chance. :) Leslie Carruthers Lesliekc 22:34, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

edit+ Would you please help me to recover the text I have developed under my user page? It was suddenly deleted and I didn't have time to save it, and it took me long hours working on it :( Thank you! Divegirlusa 23:03, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

Hello Fang Aili,
You are still welcome to participate in crime fighting on Wikipedia's audio pages along with me.
Here is another situation, this time an administrator is involved. And BTW, can administrators be so arrogant and even indifferent when a mere user raises many valid points? Shouldn't they respond? (Just in case, I am not talking about you, so please read on).
You be the judge and go to the dBFS talk page. I warn you it will take a little investigating on your part.
Hope we still a team.
This is what I left at the dBFS talk page:
This page (dBFS) has been sitting too long with these redundant links that only offer a convenient way to promote those sites and provide little value:
- Rane pro audio reference definition of dBFS
- Jim Price's "Understanding dB"
The definition of dBFS, is already covered by the page definition. Removal action is advised at once.
Administrator Omegatron has arbitrarily re-posted these links with no explanation other than he is an administrator (See his talk page on March 9) User_talk:Omegatron#dBFS.
Since he has failed to respond, and in order to avoid being blocked by this administrator, I ask another one to take a look at this and take immediate action. Evinatea 08:06, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hello Evinatea. Honestly I didn't see anything wrong with the links, and I would have let them stand if it was my place to say. But then again I don't know much about the subject matter. Regarding your interaction with Omegatron, it appears that both of you failed to assume good faith, somewhat. Next time, instead of challenging an editor, just ask a question politely. Don't accuse people of vandalism. Also, admins do not mediate content matters. Wikipedia works by consensus, and not just the consensus of admins. The next time you have a conflict with an editor, discuss it on the talk page instead of reverting that person (reverting multiple times is called "edit warring").
- Dear Fang Aili, you missed the point again. Those links were not adding any value and were indeed being used to promote 2 sites. Why can't you see that this is a problem at Wikipedia on hundreds of pages and be more skeptical with these external links?
- Anyway, somebody else helped on the matter and got rid of these links already. If you think they should be brought back, you are welcome to state your explanations. BTW, there was no "War" editing, just an arrogant administrator trying to intimidate a user like me.
- Good faith is a general term used to describe a conduct that a person must exercise at all times. However, good faith starts with politeness and an open mind.
- Explain why this administrator has not bothered to reply to me. Then ask yourself, who should exercise "Good faith". Fang, if you choose to investigate the events, then remember to read everything containing the subject matter.
- I realize that since I joined Wikipedia, it appears as if I came in to confront everybody, but it's really not so. I am a good catalyst, if someone has a problem with me, chances are that they are not coming from a place of truth.
- You offered archiving my talk page. That would be helpful. Thanks and talk to you soon. Evinatea 16:02, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
- If you do not want my opinion, please don't ask for it. I don't care about those links, and I'll let the people who do care come to a consensus about what to do. This is a simple case of 2 or 3 editors disagreeing. You did not assume good faith when you accused Omegatron of vandalism; that is a serious accusation. The right thing to do would have been to discuss it. As far as I can tell, he has responded to you here, and hasn't tried to revert the link removal at dBFS. So what is the problem? --Fang Aili talk 16:11, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
Dear Fang, I am including a copy of my last message to administrator Omegatron down below, and please understand, I have nothing against him at all. However, he could have treated me a little more politely and not ignore the points I raised. Here is the question I left for him:
The issue at hand right now is, why are those 2 links that point to conflict of interest relevant?... Evinatea 15:52, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
If you and him don't understand anything about audio engineering terms, that's fine. No fault there. But when someone who does, tells you that these definitions offered by those external links are "redundant", shouldn't you pay heed?
He came back on March 11 to address other things and didn't even bother to answer me or to explain why those links needed no further review. I had to raise the issue to get someone to delete the links for feared of being blocked by this administrator. In fact, I had to raise the issue twice: One for an unverified statement on the dBFS definition page and another one for the removal of the external links. In the words of another user who deleted the links with this simple down to the point explanation: a clear example of links normally to be avoided #1.
I maybe just a user, but I am a tenacious editor who doesn't like non-sense. That can't be a bad thing. As for us, have a beautiful life dear Fang Aili. I won't be bothering you anymore. Evinatea 02:43, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- About the older matter, I admit I just let the situation go. I kept getting confused the the links and the.. well, the everything, and I decided that life was too short to stress over it. Cheers, Fang Aili talk 13:43, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
- There is nothing else to say, except that it was found out that "Mike Sorensen" was the real socket puppeteer. Evinatea 16:02, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
Sent notices to everyone on the lists
editI sent notices to everyone connected with the Admin coaching department (to remind them they are listed, to inform them of the change in instructions, and to ask them to remove their names if they are no longer interested). I also posted a notice on the WP:CBB.
You may want to keep an eye on things at Admin coaching for a few days, to make sure everyone updates the lists correctly, etc.

- It's pretty hard to determine the license of an image if the source is unknown. That's why I asked about the source first, and also why images that have neither are auto-speedy-tagged. I looked again at the image history; it was uploaded by User:Professor32 with a summary that included "©All rights reserved 2006". That's a pretty clear I3 deletion. Hope that clears everything up. Cheers, Fang Aili talk 13:49, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
- Much appreciated. Just that the subject in question is a church I attend. I'll just take a picture myself... the only potential problem that I could see regarding this picture was if it were the 3D promotional pictures... in which case I could probably secure permission, but that's beyond the scope of this discussion. Thank you very much for your cooperation! Kareeser|Talk! 15:52, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

re: Removing people from the list
editHi Mysekurity. Why'd you remove these people from the admin coaching request page? [2] --Fang Aili talk 14:19, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- I sent talk page messages to those three people before removing them. I really don't think admin coaching needs to be one-on-one, but if you feel otherwise, then I shall say something to the two people who have not yet responded to me. Kntrabssi is now my fourth (I think) trainee; all my previous ones stopped asking me for help, and didn't reply when I asked if they needed anything (or told me they didn't). I see no reason why there should be such a massive backlist. The other two who had not yet replied had left messages in October, which seems like a completely unreasonable amount of time to be left hanging. Something about this policy has to change. -Mysekurity 22:30, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- Did those people say it was ok to remove them? If they still want coaches they should stay on the list. I know the backlog is huge but there's not a lot we can do about that. There are only so many coaches available. But if you have some ideas let me know.
- Admin coaching, as far as I know, has always been one-on-one, or basically one-on-one (with maybe two admins coaching one coachee, or one admin taking two students at a time). Some months ago The Transhumanist tried to set up a larger "admin school" of sorts, but was shot down by the community. --Fang Aili talk
- I kinda figured that since I had contacted them, I would remove them from the list (I guess I viewed it as a "to be contacted" page), but I will re-add them, if that's what should be done. I just feel that admin coaching can be much more effectively handled in a few-on-one situation, as there's no need for the admin to be constantly on call, etc. It's a nice idea in theory, but in practice, it creates backlogs for months, and doesn't take into account the fact that people aren't always communicating in real time. -Mysekurity 22:51, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Where goes the fine line between spam and fact/information? When i was explained the software SiteAssistant & SearchAssistant from the Company Humany you erased the information.
For example: the information about Azyxxi, is that advertising/spam or just information? And whats the different to inform about this technology and Humanys technology, SiteAssistant & SearchAssistant?? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Debeaux (talk • contribs) 12:20, 14 March 2007 (UTC).
- Well the line is somewhat ambiguous. My reasoning was thus: The article is about the company Humany, not SiteAssistant or SearchAssistant. Since neither of those programs appeared notable, and the article is about the company, I determined that describing them was not encyclopedic.
- The Azyxxi article is pretty good. Its notability assertion is in the first paragraph (used in a bunch of notable hospitals), and then explains how the product works. In this case the article is about the product, not that product's company, so I think this is appropriate. It also has a few good sources. I hope this answers your question. --Fang Aili talk 14:11, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
Is there a reason why I can not create a Code seven article? What things would I need to include to keep it from being deleted?
I don't know if my last request worked. But I'm just wondering why my Code seven page was deleted. What do i need to provide on the pageso that it won't be deleted?
Dgus138 20:23, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
- It was deleted because it did not assert notability. According to the article there is nothing at all notable about this group. Thanks, Fang Aili talk 21:16, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Deletion of American Industries information
editHello Fang Aili, I am writing concerning a page you recently deleted, "American Indusries". I wrote an informative article on this company to include it on companies of Mexico, but I guess it complied with something. Can you let me know what was the reason for you to delete it? - That information was removed because it was advertising. Thanks, Fang Aili talk 13:36, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
Why did you ignore that I had tagged the article with {{hangon}}? // Liftarn
- Because your only assertion of notability was "because I say it's notable", which is not valid. If you wish to try again you could use your userspace; try User:Liftarn/Institute for Middle East Understanding. This way you can work on it at your leisure without worrying about it being deleted. Cheers, Fang Aili talk 15:04, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
- What kind of assertion is needed? // Liftarn
- See Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). A few sources would help too. --Fang Aili talk 15:10, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Rob Pepper Wiki page
editHello Fang Aili,
I recently created my first wiki page over Rob Pepper. He is an artist that I have been following for the past two years or so. I am a art critic and a writer for several print publications, and I do note I need to clean up the article over Rob a bit. Aside from some of the clean up work, what other recommendations do you have to prevent deletion?
Thanks, Matt —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mattgierhart (talk • contribs) 15:52, 16 March 2007 (UTC).
- Hello Matt. At this point all you have to do is object to deletion, and the {{prod}} tag should be removed. (I've done this already.) About the article itself, it needs a stronger notability assertion. That is, what makes this person notable? If he's known for his drawing techniques, are those techniques notable? Does he fulfill any of the notability guidelines for living people? Overall the article should tell us why he matters and less about his thoughts on drawing in general. Cheers, Fang Aili talk 16:12, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks Fang Aili, yes the technique is modernately known. I will go through and apply your suggestions to the page. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mattgierhart (talk • contribs) 17:04, 16 March 2007 (UTC).
I'm not happy about the notability of the subject per WP:BIO, though it may scrape through. It also seems to fall under WP:Speedy G11, namely:
- Blatant advertising. Pages which exclusively promote a company, product, group, service, or person and which would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic.
As you've interacted with the user, I thought I would consult with you first over this. Tyrenius 02:16, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
- I don't know much about this subject area, and for all I know this guy's drawing technique is notable. There is some spam, but I think it could be removed from the article without deleting the whole thing. (That is, if the guy is notable in the first place.) I figured I'd give it a week and then re-evaluate. --Fang Aili talk 16:51, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Ruben vine deletion
editwhy was an article about a up and coming UK singer deleted by yourself? I added the article, why does it not note inclusion? Is it is because it is a British artist and not a US artist? you include micah p hHinson who is known to Ruben Vine and who I believe he will be supporting on his next tour of the UK. I would be very interested to understand why you deleted it and iI think this artist is worthy of a page, he may not be mainstream but he is very influential in the UK independant scene and is becoming more so,

Also, even if you did have authorization, Wikipedia requires that all text be released under GFDL or public domain. The easiest way to sort all this out is to put a notice on the Alpina website indicating that all information is released under GFDL or the public domain, or you can send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en at wikimedia dot org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation. Last push for the Biography Assessment Drive
editWe've done great work so far on the WikiProject Biography Spring 2007 Assessment Drive, reducing the 135,345 backlog by 38,626 to 96,719 as of March 20, 2007. Hi - I'm trying to add Vaudeville a la Mode to wikipedia - it's a new movement in Oakland california - a vaudeville revival of artists. Wiki shows you removed the article I tried to create due to no context? Can you help me start this article in the correct way? Thank you! Jonnbecky (talk · contribs)
- Hello, sure I can help. First, you want to make sure that Vaudeville a la Mode meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines. You don't want to spend a lot of time on the article and then discover that it can't be included. Second, if you think it does meet notability guidelines, you can work on the article in your "user space". Try User:Jonnbecky/Vaudeville a la Mode (just click on it). This way you can work on your own time without worrying about it getting deleted before you're finished. When you're done, it can be moved to Vaudeville a la Mode. Hi Fang,
Just noticed that the FirstHand Technologies page was removed. I was having problems with the content from an ex-employee who overwrote my changes approx 1 month ago (pbrockmann).
Unfortunately, the tech writer I was working with on the update is new to Widipedia and he and I in our eagerness to update it may have broken some update rules unknown to us.
Could you please reinstate the page. I'll make sure to login and update it once, as opposed to updating it as a living document.
Thanks, James Elrick Marketing Coordinator FirstHand Technologies
209.217.71.12 19:03, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- Unfortunately that page was written like advertising, and would require a complete rewrite before it could be included in Wikipedia. It also didn't claim any notability, which is also required for Wikipedia articles. If you don't have a copy of the article I would be happy to e-mail you one. Use the "E-mail this user" link in the left-hand column. Thank you, Fang Aili talk 19:08, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

That would be outstanding and any extra effort that you can offer in these last few days of the drive (which ends March 24, 2007) would be much appreciated. If you haven't already, you may want to load Outriggr's assessment script in your monobook.js. If you have any questions, please feel free to post them on my talk page. -- Jreferee 19:53, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
"Vandalism"
editYou've got a strange definition of "vandalism," I must say. Would you like to talk about it, or are you just going to ban my IP? 128.59.42.93 18:13, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- What definition are you talking about? Please cite a URL. --Fang Aili talk 18:36, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
Deleted article question
editHello,
On the 5 November 2006, you deleted the article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messenger_Stuff. Would you be able to tell me what is needed to keep the article on wikipedia?
Thanks, Chris
- Hello Chris. The article has been deleted twice, the 2nd time on Feb 15 2007. Both times it was deleted because it did not assert notability. See WP:WEB for guidelines for online material. If you think this site meets one or more guidelines, let me know. --Fang Aili talk 20:56, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Dear Fang
From February Wizardofword alias Fabrice Ducasse CTO of www.mdsamerica.com are using Wikipedia to make personals and false attacks.
I see some correspondance between this Guy and you in this pages.
Again and again it is making false or truncated informations on wikipedia, for example the links to the MVDDS inside the Wikipedia mdsamerica information are not going to the official acronym MVDDS explanations but to a page for again false informations and false advertising still for this Guys. Today on your Wikipedia I receive a lot of insults in the page "You have a message" from wizard unfortunately I delete this usefull information. All along the day if you or I restore the right page Wizard change and send us insults !!!!
This are not the right way for Wikipedia, inside i can find many things but the use by this guys are outlaw.
Regards
Jean-Claude

- I'm having a hard time understanding you. Right now the article is very short - it contains no attacks. What do you want me to do? --Fang Aili talk 16:11, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
Hello, I'm just wondering why the BATracer page was deleted. Last time I checked (About 2 weeks ago) It has quite a lot of information and it was being expanded, the code (R1) doesn't help in the slightest to figuring out why it was deleted.
Thanks —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Darkdude98 (talk • contribs) 22:49, 26 March 2007 (UTC).
- Hello. It was deleted as reposted deleted material. See discussion: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/BATracer. If you wish to contest the deletion, see deletion review. Let me know if you have any trouble. --Fang Aili talk 02:18, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
Banned user Jon Awbrey
editThis banned user continually makes new sockpuppets (the latest is User:Samboner) and continues to edit Charles Peirce. Please see Category:Wikipedia sockpuppets of Jon Awbrey. It seems our defense is to keep the article semi-protected and keep blocking the new usernames as he creates them. I also notified Jayjg who has been dealing with Awbrey for a long time. --Blainster 16:14, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- Ok. I feel more comfortable letting Jayig handle this, if he has experience with this situation. But let me know if there's anything you'd like me to do. --Fang Aili talk 16:29, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
I do not understand why you have deleted my article on Viadeo as 'advertising' - I have made only factual statements and no advertising statements such as 'best' 'biggest' etc.
Viadeo is one of the World's largest online business social networks with over one million users in Europe and 700k in China (with the partnership with Tianji).
Please explain to me how on earth you can call a factual statement - this is a network created on this date, with this many users, available in these languages and is used for these purposes can be 'advertising'.
Wikipedia has articles on all our competitors: Linked'in, Xing, Ecademy, Ryze - none of these articles has been deemed 'advertsing'. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Peter Cunningham 2302 (talk • contribs) 18:08, 28 March 2007 (UTC).
- It was deleted because it was written like an advertisment. As an encyclopedia, Wikipedia doesn't need a blow-by-blow description of what makes the product cool, it needs to say why it matters. See Wikipedia's policy on advertisements for further details. If you think other articles also qualify as advertisments, you may nominate them for deletion. Thank you, Fang Aili talk 18:46, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
Unprotection
editDear Fang Aili, You just unprotected article Boris Stomakhin. But this article is currently under Cabal negotiations: Wikipedia:Mediation_Cabal/Cases/2007-02-10_Boris_Stomakhin? Do not you think it would be better to protect this article until the negotiations are resolved? Biophys 21:14, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- We are waiting for Diez2 who promised to prepare a compromise version. To be honest, I wanted to start editing the article, but that would look like I am trying to exploit your unintentional mistake. Best regards, Biophys 21:46, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
