A request
editIt would be good if you could encourage Andy Worthington to plea to Cageprisoners on behalf of the Nigerian girls. It's essential that the girls have some actual Islamists on their side. Worthington is in a spot where he could work on making that happen. And you've done more than enough for the cause that he should listen to you.
Cageprisoners owes Worthington, and yourself as well. Guantanamo released a lot of detainees still classified as enemy combatants. That wouldn't have happened without a lot of non-Muslims creating pressure. There could still have been 300 to 400 detainees there. The key was in getting the peers and near-peers.
Boko Haram will not be swayed by liberal activists or even ordinary Muslims. This requires pressure by some who share their ideology. Their allies need to tell them that slavery is wrong, or at least counter-productive. I'm not saying that Cageprisoners is big enough, but they could make a break in the wall that could then bring in others.

- Nevermind. I just noticed you haven't been around for a while. I modified the above message and sent it directly to Worthington.
- I hope you're doing well.

On Paul Dirksen
editHi! I found this: User:Geo Swan/userified/2012-12-18/Paul Dirksen. May I add sourcing to it? Or you can if you like.

- Fell free to edit this as freely as you would an article in article space. But, if you think it ready to be moved back to article space, let's discuss it first. I didn't do much work on the Dicksen article. But I did most of the work or Wes Graham, Watbol and Watiac. Did you attend Waterloo? Geo Swan (talk) 01:25, 23 May 2014 (UTC)
- I never attended a Waterloo event. I'll go ahead and add some refs WhisperToMe (talk) 05:29, 23 May 2014 (UTC)
The Wiki [1] says: built in 2013. But I found here that it is 1916. Any idea what the right year is? --Stunteltje (talk) 11:05, 23 May 2014 (UTC)
- The photo of the tug was taken in 2005, so the 2013 vessel must be a different vessel. I have a vague recollection that someone suggested the older tug be turned into a museum vessel. Personally, I'd like to see the Radium Yellowknife turned into a museum ship. She is only 65 years old, but she did proceed through the Northwest Passage on her own power. Geo Swan (talk) 13:56, 23 May 2014 (UTC)
- Here is some more information, from 2005. The new owners said the decayed plywood superstructure was recent, and the only portion of the vessel that could be proven to be authentic was the old steam engine. Geo Swan (talk) 22:14, 23 May 2014 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Sharon Allen
editA tag has been placed on Sharon Allen requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an orphaned disambiguation page which either
- disambiguates two or fewer extant Wikipedia pages and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic); or
- disambiguates no (zero) extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title.
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Boleyn (talk) 19:39, 26 May 2014 (UTC)
Hi Geo Swan, The article that you created (Fireboat 20) doesn't seem to be suitable for inclusion on Wikipedia. There is nothing notable about the boat, and given that the LBFD doesn't even have a page it's hard to imagine why this boat should. I'd be happy to hear your side before I nominate it for deletion. Disambiguation link notification for May 28
editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited CGS Petrel, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Long Point (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi Geo Swan! For a moment (by which I mean, for about 10 minutes) I was a little confused there. I deleted "Michael Dunlavey" (with the quotes in the article title):
- (del/undel) 10:07, 8 April 2014 Shirt58 (talk | contribs | block) deleted page "Michael Dunlavey" (R3: Recently created, implausible redirect) (view/restore)
- (del/undel) 09:29, 8 April 2014 Geo Swan (talk | contribs | block) moved page "Michael Dunlavey" to Michael E. Dunlavey (redirect) (revert)
Apologies if that caused any bother. Do you want to re-create it a re-direct? It's fine by me, but I'm not sure why you might want to. Pete AU aka
- Quotes in the title? Yipes! I should have requested WP:CSD#G7 myself. Geo Swan (talk) 15:13, 29 May 2014 (UTC)
