Question
editLast night I added a source to soon to be deleted article Nana's Cookie Company. The source, link to article is from CBS News 8 San Diego. According to WP:ORG#Primary criterion, to my knowledge, this reference qualilfies as primary criterion for a notable company. However, I did not post this source until after everyone had voted already voted 'delete'. Do you feel the source is questionable, or some how not adequate for nobality, beacuse the article was still deleted eventhough I added a what I understand to be a reliable source. Is there something wrong with the source I am using, I would like to know, so I can find sources that are notable in the future. Thanks. -ChristopherMannMcKay 16:27, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

Zorpia's deletion and the meta-blacklist
editIf you came from zorpia.com/forum/1/195011 : The reason for the article's deletion was due to lack of verifiable sources to assert its notability. Can you find multiple independent, reputable sources (such as BBC, NYT, CNET, etc.) on the social networking website and cite them? If so, please make your appeal at deletion review with the sources you have found. (Blacklist issue - see below)
ZORPIA IS A LEGITIMATE SOCIAL NETWORKING SITE!!!
I am here to tell you that you are wrong about Zorpia, it is NOT a drug related spam site trying to sell pharmaceuticals, it is in fact a genuine social networking site that I have been an active member of for almost a year now. There are well over 4.5 million users that are members of Zorpia. I have had accounts on myspace and hi5 and this is as genuine as they are. I prefer Zorpia over them both because there is alot more interaction with all of the Zorpians with the use of the forums that is on Zorpia. I hope you will look into Zorpia more and finally realize that this is a legitimate site. Thank you for your time in reading this. Have a nice day. :)

- HI Mailer diablo,
- It is shocked to know you ve black listed www.zorpia.com as a drug related spam site. Perhaps i feel zorpia is the only lively chat site in whole of internet. I am a member of zorpia for more than an year. I wish you reconsider your decision! And you can check it for yourself thanks..

- This IP appears on multiple spam blacklists. --A. B. (talk) 16:27, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
- Huh, blacklisted!? What pharmaceuticals? I can only perform deletions; I do not have the power to modify the spam blacklist, that's something at foundation level! I'm afraid you have to speak directly to them on this one. - Best regards, Mailer Diablo 12:23, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
- The pharmaceuticals mentioned are in reference to the rather 'dubious' research done at [[1]] which resulted in this deletion. Here, A.B has said that he mostly finds Zorpia in connection with online pharmaceuticals. However, note that in all cases, the links to the search results start at item 700 on Google! Wikipedia itself suffers badly when this method is used. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 210.84.26.83 (talk) 14:43, 12 March 2007 (UTC).
Zorpia.com
editSir/Madam, This email is regarding the website www.zorpia.com, which has been stated as a fake website and is black listed. My name is Abhishek. i have been a member of zorpia.com since 15 Oct, 2006. Trust me this site is not a spam or a fake site. Zorpia.com does have 4.6 million members. how can u believe this? by joining zorpia.com and seeing it urself. i log on everyday and most of the time i am on zorpia and cant live without it. Zorpia
editi am currently one of the users of the site, zorpia.com. i do not believe that there is a problem on drugs relating issue in this site. perharps there was a case or two in which i was never aware off, but i can assure you that none of the case has ever occured to my self, and i am a regular zorpia resident. perharps its just a single black spot on a white paper~
apart from the second case, regarding of the stats(4.6 million), i am sure there is a way to conclude it. but as it is out of my league, i cant prove anything right or wrong.
I've just got the news that this site has put Zorpia on the black list ddoubting its amount of members and accusing it of being a drug related spam site. I have been a member of the site for a long time now and the fact is, the site is populated because its very popular and isn't running dry. Its a fun site which a lot of people like to go on, so its amount of members shouldn't be so hard to believe. Also, I would clearly like to state that it is not, I repeat, it is NOT a spam site.
Hi!
I'd like to know why the Zorpia article has been deleted?
Re: Zorpia.com
editDear Mailer Diablo,
I am writing with regards to your decision to delete the article about Zorpia from Wikipedia.
I have been a member of Zorpia.com now for the last 2 or more years. I also worked closely with the Zorpia staff in the summer of 2006 combating online predators and reporting them to the VGT [2] . During this time we were also in contact with the Australian Federal police Agent Darryal Halmilton giving them information on suspected users Zorpia is one of the most active social networking sights that tries its upmost to keep a clean and safe environment for its users. Zorpia is constantly updating its servers and testing many methods for user enjoyment and safety. on my time on zorpia i have never seen any thing to do with selling drugs or anything of the sort. Zorpia has over 5millions users I'm not saying that none of these users use drugs. drugs are everywhere. And Knowing Zorpia and the way it works I'm sure if there was any hint of drug selling or anything of the sort it would have been stamped out the users banned and they're details handed over to the police of that persons area I ask you to consider these facts that i have wrote before making your final decision. I'm also sure if you were to check with the VGT and The Australian federal police about reports made last summer they will confirm this as it is logged on they're data base. Again the allegations of drug offences is no more then hateful rubbish is you condem zorpia with these alligations and ban them from your site then you should also ban myspace hi5 and other social networking websites because if there are drugs on zorpia im certain they are on the other sites too as many users have accounts on many sites. It is unfair to use zorpia as a scapegoat for this problem and to make an example of them. Are mysapce banned as 4 people have been killed from meeting people on there...
thanks for your time Tony
Zorpia deletion.
editI don't know where your statistics come from but they seem askew. I have been an active member of Zorpia for over a year now and it is in now way a spamming site, nor does it have any ties with drugs whatsoever. I log on to Zorpia at least once a day because it is a fun and addictive social networking site. I kindly ask that you re-think your position on this issue. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.66.192.218 (talk) 18:04, 12 March 2007 (UTC).
Zorpia is a geniuine social networking site!
editTo: whom it may concern
I am here to tell you that you are wrong about Zorpia, it is NOT a drug related spam site trying to sell pharmaceuticals
I've been on that site and i've made many friends, learned many things and gained plenty of knowledge through socialising with people from all over the world. And the number of users....U see, this zorpia thing have been forwarded to people through emails, so if one sents them to all his contacts and they all sign up and further sent it to all their contacts and they sign up again then forward them and so on....So the fact tt it has over 4 million users should not be doubted. But although many have accounts at zorpia, no everyone uses them, so the number of online zorpians at any one time is not tt plentiful.
I believe at times, wikipedia.org do make mistakes which i've seen, and i strongly believe that this time round, u've made a grave mistake by blacklisting zorpia.com.Please double check again. Thank you.

Zorpia
editI seem to be really confused about the controversy so to speak going on about Zorpia. I assure you it's a great Bold textsocial networking Bold textsite. I've met some amazing people on that website who I've gotten very close to. I would like others to have their fair chance of going on a great website such as Zorpia and meeting new, intellectual and fun people. I don't understand how this whole misunderstanding started but again I assure you it is just a misunderstanding. The administrators also play a very active role in Zorpia, they try their best to make sure it is a safe site that everyone is able to enjoy.
I would really appreciate it if you tried out the site for yourself before making any false assumptions about it. I really hope you reconsider "boycotting" Zorpia from your website, and realize many love it and the people that use it. Thank you and have a great day :)

Zorpia's deletion
editDear Diablo,
I've been a Zorpian member since June 2005. It is not the only social networking site I'm a member of, but it IS the ONLY site I am truly active in. It is a genuine website, NOT a pharmaceutical spamming company or what ever other nonsense you have come up with. I hope you realise what a mistake it was to deem this website falsely. Please correct the wrong you have made. Thank you,

- Just leave them as it is, just happened that I got something like being slash-dotted. They should have read the notice/response I've made on the first Zorpia heading though. - Mailer Diablo 11:01, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
dear Diablo
Again I'm writing to you about your Deleting of Zorpia.com from this site Zorpia works endlessly to keep perverts, predators, spam from its site users actively report them to a place on Zorpia called the ZORPIA REPORTING CENTRE [ There are aso a number of active user groups to fight this problem too ] also im you need further evidence that Zorpia acts on this problem I will quote you some reference case numbers from cases from online reporting site [3] and [4]
VGT please contact Katy MILNE and quote this case reported 27 June 2006 at 11:43:50 CCTM Certificate Number 2006/04/0007
CEOP child Expolitation and Online Protection Centre/ Ref NO CEOP-2006-31 case study Kelly Murray
im sure if you contacted these sites and also Public-OCSET-OMC@afp.gov.au tis is the direct line to report internet predators to the Australian Feds and contact Agent Darryl Hamilton will confirm that in 2006 were working with Zorpia.com on 2 cases Zorpia.com reported to them
These are legitimate law Agencies im sure this this can give you some sufficient Evidence to go on not only does this show that zorpia.com is fighting online predators actively it also shows that Zorpia.com is against online crime Drugs Spamming and Perverts. It would be a very unwise move if Zorpia was doing what you claim them to be doing while aslo working on this problem —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bigtony79 (talk • contribs) 07:33, 13 March 2007 (UTC).
Off-wiki canvassing
editHello Mailer. The large number of IP and SPA comments on your page regarding Zorpia got me a little curious, and a Google search turned up a plea at www.zorpia.com/menjopm?zorpiasid=1dd18e461bee9429c7fdd7efd60b1f1b95daec09 to contact you personally (blacklisted site, so no link). I didn't find anyway of getting in touch with "Mike" via email to ask him to remove the link to your personal talk page and instead redirect them to Wikipedia talk:Deletion review/Log/2007 March 12/Zorpia, so looks like you may keep getting these for a bit. Anyway, just a heads up. -- Satori Son 14:40, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
- I see now above that you already know you got "slash-dotted", so to speak. Unfortunately, since the off-wiki link includes the "action=edit§ion=new" code, these guys are probably not even seeing your comments before they create a new topic. But I see you're on top of it, and good luck. -- Satori Son 14:47, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hi. I am the 'Mike' referred to above. I only used a link to this page because there was a link to it from the original deletion discussion. However, if it is not a suitable place to direct people to, I am only too happy to remove it. I apologise for any inconvenience. See, I'm not the monster you thought I was!--Menjo 16:06, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hello Menjo! I certainly hope I didn't imply that you were a "monster" or up to no good. I was just trying to let Mailer Diablo know why he was getting so many "new topic" messages here. IMHO, the link on your site should probably point to Wikipedia talk:Deletion review/Log/2007 March 12/Zorpia, but that is really Mailer's call. Thanks for your input and dialogue, and happy editing. -- Satori Son 16:15, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Can we bring it back? We have had several people contribute to it already.
Thank you for your help.

- Oh apologies, the deletion code was incorrect, it should be G11. The article has to sound less like an ad and have reliable sources to assert its notability in order to stay, are you able to do that? - Best regards, Mailer Diablo 06:50, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
- I am not sure I understand--an ad to what? We are a non-profit group who does services for K-12 schools. If we describe our services, is that considered an advertisement? Specifically, what do we need to avoid? - Lennie
- Tone is important, the article needs a substantial rewrite. e.g. "beautiful Black Hills" sounds promotional - Best regards, Mailer Diablo 15:06, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
Can you review your decision on ChessDB
editSorry if this was not you, since I'm not 100% sure, but I think I have the right person. An article on a piece of chess software (ChessDB) was deleted some time back (months). I wrote an article on ChessDB too, unaware one had been deleted previously. Looking at the discussion of the deletion of the original, I don't believe the critisms can be applied to what I wrote. Hence I would like you to look at this again.
First, my article is not 'advert like', which was a critism of the original. There are very few external links (perhaps 2 or 3 IIRC). I believe the software is notable. A web site listing free chess software, rates this as the 4th best piece of free chess software: http://freechess.50webs.com/best.html Another site has a very positive review: http://chessforblood.blogspot.com/2007_02_01_archive.html
There are numerous references to ChessDB on the web - reviews such as this one: http://freechess.50webs.com/chessdb.html but there are also several more in other languages. Others are trying to get the package uploaded to Debian (http://people.debian.org/~terpstra/message/20070213.145721.fa0be66a.en.html). There are Gentoo ebuilds for this too. I've just checked the sourceforge web site and see there have been 2567 downloads - that's about 1 per hour on average. I believe the software is sufficiently notable and so the entry I wrote should be undeleted.
BTW, 'BlueValour', who writes a lot on Wikipedia (an admin??), added a "red link" to ChessDB from Scid. Clearly he/she felt there should be a page on ChessDB. Spiderpop 05:37, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

You speedily deleted this article and cited recreation of deleted material, which applies when "revisions made clearly do not address the reasons for which the page was deleted". Please review the original deletion log and deleted article. It was deleted originally for nonnotability; my rewritten article includes citations to several major news sources (Associated Press, Die Welt). As I asked in the edit comments, is there still any doubt about the notability of this topic? Aaronbrick 21:02, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
Hey MD, assuming you're not changing your closure of this I'll send it to DRV. There were too may delete !voters who were either outright dismissive or made it clear that they have no grasp of the subject to let this closure stand. Take care, trialsanderrors 19:14, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
