Renaming of "S. Jayakumar"
editHi, could you help rename "S.Jayakumar" to either "S Jayakumar" or "S. Jayakumar" (both of which are currently redirects to the first-named article)? I had a look at "Wikipedia:Naming conventions (people)", but it doesn't seem to state whether initials should have a full stop after them or not. However, I think it is conventional to have a space after an initial.
Sorry to find out, by the way, that "Odex's actions against file-sharing" did not make FA. — Cheers, JackLee –talk– 13:13, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
My RfA
edit
Thank you for supporting me in my RfA, which passed with a count of (154/3/2). I appreciate the community's trust in me, and I will do my best to be sure it won't regret handing me the mop. I am honored by your trust and your support. Again, thank you. –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 18:45, 27 September 2008 (UTC) Hi

DYK credits
editHello. Thanks for updating DYK. I've already done the article talk page credits incase you're wondering. You can continue with the rest. Thanks, RyRy (talk) 17:57, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
Automatic DYK crediting
editFinally finished it. Add the following to your monobook.js:
{{subst:js|User:Ameliorate!/dykeasymode.js}}
Then purge your cache. You should see a new tab appear named "dykcredit". When you use the "give DYK credit" link from the next update page, if you click that tab it will insert the article name and automatically save the page. If you want, you can also add the following to your monobook, above the dykeasymode code:
var optionalComment = "Thank you for your contributions!";
which will make it so that when you click the dykcredit tab it will also insert "Thank you for your contributions!" next to the optional= parameter. I've only tested it in Firefox 3 so far though. Let me know what you think. ~ User:Ameliorate! (with the !) (talk) 10:41, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
- Just made a change so that it doesn't autosubmit when you click the tab by default. To make it autosubmit you have to add
var autosubmit = "on";
to your monobook, but you might want to use it manually for a bit first. After I'm sure it works exactly as intended I'll think about getting it to automatically add the article name and save itself just by clicking the link. ~ User:Ameliorate! (with the !) editThanks for uploading Image:Logo-hdb.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:12, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
Template:Prod-tip
editHi Mailer. When you created Template:Prod-tip, you indicated that it was to be subst, not transcluded. It appears to be transcluded in several AfDs.[1] The template should be revised to prevent transclusion. Also, if you think it would help, I would be happy to go through the AfDs and subst: the template into those discussion. Thanks. -- Suntag ☼ 15:51, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Suntag, yes please proceed to subst all of them. Thanks! - Cheers, Mailer Diablo 18:19, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the note. I couldn't help but see your big "COPYEDITORS WANTED" note at User:Mailer diablo/A. I revised the lead. It may not be an FA lead, but it should provide a different direction for the lead in which the editors of that article may head. -- Suntag ☼ 19:34, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
Renaming of "Middle Rocks, Johor"
editHi, how are you? I was looking at "Middle Rocks, Johor", and noticed that "Middle Rocks" is a redirect to the first-mentioned article. However, since there isn't any other "Middle Rocks", I think the article should be given that name and "Middle Rocks, Johor" turned into a redirect or deleted. Do you think this is something that can be done speedily, or should I list this at "Wikipedia:Requested moves"? — Cheers, JackLee –talk– 16:01, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
Judging from the response so far at "Talk:Middle Rocks, Johor#Name", I think we have consensus on the renaming of the article as "Middle Rocks". Feel free to act on the matter when you feel that there has been sufficient response to the issue. How should the listing of the article at "Wikipedia:Requested moves" be dealt with? Do I need to close the discussion there or will you do that? Thanks. — Cheers, JackLee –talk– 03:13, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

My request for Adminship has been closed, and the support the community has shown will be with me forever. Darren_Meade_(soccer) deleted?
editWhy did the page get deleted on Darren Meade. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Darren_Meade_(soccer) Somebody provided a link to soccerbase as proof he did not play for Millwall, stupid contribution as soccerbase is wrong on multiple footballers stats.
The links below prove he was a professional footballer and had a professional contract with Millwall so his page should have remained! He is in the squad photo for Millwall (2000/2001) here: http://www.millwall-history.co.uk/squad_shots5.htm The following link is from the BBC site when he was released by Millwall: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/low/football/teams/m/millwall/1480355.stm
Re-instate the page!

editHi, sorry I've taken so long to look into this. I still can't replicate it, so what I need to know is does it do it all the time or only sometimes? If it's all the time, can you do this:
- In Firefox press CTRL+SHIFT+J
- Click the Clear button and then close the error console
- Follow this link
- Click the tab to add the article parameter
- Press CTRL+SHIFT+J again
- Right-click on each error/warning, select copy and paste the messages onto my talk

The RfA Barnstar Mailer diablo, I would like to thank you for your participation in my recent Request for Adminship, which passed with 112 supports, 4 opposes and 5 neutrals. A special mention goes out to Stwalkerster and Pedro for nominating me, thanks a lot for having trust in me! In response to the neutrals, I will try to double check articles that have been tagged for speedy deletion before I CSD them and will start off slowly with the drama boards of ANI and AN to ensure that I get used to them. In response to the oppose !votes on my RfA, I will check that any images I use meet the non-free content criteria and will attempt to handle any disputes or queries as well as I can. If you need my help at all, feel free to simply ask at my talk page and I'll see if I can help. Once again, thank you for your participation, and have a great day! :) The Helpful One 22:26, 25 November 2008 (UTC) design by neurolysis | to add this barnstar to your awards page, simply copy and paste {{subst:User:Neurolysis/THOBS}} and remove this bottom text | if you don't like thankspam, please accept my sincere apologies

SNUSP
editSearching for SNUSP, I've found the page was deleted (12:17, 1 October 2006), policy about undeleting says (if I am not wrong) that the first step is to write to the Talk page of who deleted the page. I believe strongly that the page must be undeleted. Even though it is said that "Core SNUSP is essentially Brainfuck with a two-dimensional control flow", SNUSP is not Brainfuck (which has its own page), because of the 2D-"feature", nor it is Befunge (which has its own page on wiki, too). Deleting SNUSP because "it is (basically) Brainfuck" (or because is Just a brainfuck derivative (Equendil)), would be like deleting C++ since it is (basically) C (or just a C derivative). SNUSP has its own features, and I think that if Brainfuck and Befunge (among others like Chef, LOLCODE, MOUSE which is not classified esoteric, but resembles to an esoteric language, Piet... etc) deserve their own page, SNUSP deserves it too. Since SNUSP is a PATH derived language, SNUSP could be mentioned inside the PATH page instead of having its own page... unluckly the PATH page too was deleted, so now the source to know about SNUSP/PATH is not Wikipedia; there's esolangs wiki talking about esolanguages, but if this is a good reason to keep PATH and SNUSP deleted, than it is a good reason to propose to delete Brainfuck and Befunge (and many more!) and just list them in the Esoteric programming language page, which is rather 'void' (deleting SNUSP should have triggered a section-creation on that page...)
The popularity too is not a good criterion to decide the deletion of these languages: take a look to the Alphabetical list of programming languages and count how many, even though not labelled esoteric, are rather uncommon (and even too specific and/or strange, old and so on), but have their own page (even though often in a stub form). Popularity, strangeness (esoterism) and specificity should not be criteria to think that a language does not deserve its page; and if someone created a page talking about, say, SNUSP, and people think it does not deserve its own page, the content should be copied to a grouping page (like Esoteric programming language), not simply deleted.
So here I am proposing, with the aforementioned reasoning, to get SNUSP page back. Ittakezou0 (talk) 15:33, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

Goth Slang Deletion Review
editReading the 1st August 2006 debate on keeping the Goth slang article, the "keep" decision relies partly on citing a list of 20 other slang pages. In fact, only one is (dubiously) subcultural, whereas the talk page claims all 20 are. Five on the cited list either never existed or have been deleted themselves. Furthermore, since "Wikipedia is not a dictionary or a slang, jargon or usage guide" and this article seems to be exactly that, can there be any basis for keeping Goth slang, which is a rather meagre list in the first place? Paul S (talk) 21:40, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
- You're bringing up a two year old deletion debate? Not only has policy probably changed since then, but the article itself probably has as well. If the article is still in insufficient condition, you might consider bringing it to AfD again. GlassCobra 21:48, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
SAF flags
editIs there a book that shows the images and meanings of the flags used by the SAF? User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 22:56, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, I meant the military colors. I know there is a service flag used by the RSAF, but there isn't much material I was able to find online. I found the photo of the three flags at this site. I am trying to make Flag of Singapore an FA for SGWP's "NDP Project." Also, if you are interested, I had some issues with MICA that recently got into the online papers in Singapore. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 08:34, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
